In my pictures are the (half-eaten) crab rangoon empanada, the blistered shishito peppers, and the queso fundido. The empanada was delicious, and definitely my favorite dish there! My dad had also forgotten his phone and glasses; the staff were very kind and held onto them for us while we hurried back to the restaurant to pick them up.
I had a delicious dish with the peppers and the empanadas. Although they messed up the pepper dish on the first try, they did fix it and the Blistered Shishito Peppers were the most delicious peppers I have ever eaten. The empanadas were delicious as well, just a solid 4/5. Good flavor, good amount of spices, could have have been less dry but it's what you would expect from an empanada. The drink was fairly fruity and good for me.
This place is the BEST. Everything down to even the chips. Ridiculously delicious. I’d HIGHLY recommend.
Absolutely loved our experience at Ché! The vibes are cozy- love the atmosphere inside. The guacamole and queso are a MUST get!! My favorite empanadas were the short rib, the spinach & cheese, and the jerk chicken.
Empanadas and the sauces are delicious. The palm heart salad is very refreshing. The blacken shrimp taco has good flavor but the tortillas for the taco can be a little less dry. If you want real table, make reservation or you can sit at the bar if there’s space. Great vibes.
The empanadas were excellent. We were sharing things and also got the caso appetizer so there wasn't much room left for a verity. However what we did have was great. The street taco's were also very good with the fillings. Not much meat, but enough to get the taste. I'd like to see some additional items on the menu to do loaded nachos with the meat from the empanadas and cheeses. We will be back!
Trisha was a wonderful server & worked hard handling multiple tables on a sat night. Good suggestions for both wine & food. Food was good from appetizers, tacos, empanadas & dessert donuts at the end. I recommend the spinach empanadas, like spinach & artichoke dip in fried pastry! Never had them before but empanadas were awesome & u can take them 2 go! Will b back good job guys!
If you haven't had an empanada from Ché, stop what you're doing and go! These delightfully fried pastries are Argentina's favorite street food. Ché started as a food truck, then they opened in Over-the-Rhine in 2016, and a couple of years ago expanded close to my home in O'Bryonville. My wife and I have visited multiple times recently. Each time at least one of us had the mushroom and feta, the chicken salsa verde, and the jerk chicken. These are good ones to start with. I've also heard great things about the short rib. They also have more interesting flavor combinations such as buffalo chicken or even a Cuban. They cost $4.75 each, and I think two or three make for a good meal. The menu at Ché also features tacos, sandwiches, salads, and more. Plus a full bar with some awesome cocktails and a great draft beer selection.
Love Che. Need to visit MORE OFTEN. The butternut squash soup is INCREDIBLE. atmosphere is so cozy and comfortable. We love this place.
Everything was amazing! Highly recommend the Mac & cheese and the Korean BBQ empanadas for something different!
Great experience. Small yet perfect sized restaurant. I loved this place. Thfood and atmosphere are stellar my son and I had a perfect meal.
Argentinian food done very well with a spicy twist on favorite foods. The drinks and food are fantastic and service is fun along with the environment.
Great brunch Amazing food and attentive staff We ll be back
Great food! The spinach empanadas are the best!
Attentive service, delicious food, Amazing wine! Nick was wonderful! The ambience was lovely!
The food was great. Very nice atmosphere. Server was great.
Excellent Argentinian food according to my friend who moved here from Argentina. We loved it. Empanadas were so tasty. Had a tomato chopped salad with heart of palm that was stupendous!!! Big enough to split! Only issue was the music. Very loud and harsh. Might want to turn it down a bit. If you’re still at want a dinner that isn’t typical midwestern American give this place a try.
OMG!!! Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh and uniquely original!!! The Ricotta Donuts were HEAVEN! Moist, not too sweet, and just right for dessert (I would eat these donuts ANYTIME and ANYWHERE!!)... The Pick 3 Empanadas were lucious and Oh so flavorful!! The Mac & Cheese was, as my Slovakian mother-in-law would say, "SCRUMPTIOUS," and SO, SO CREAMY!! And, my husband who makes his own Butternut Squash Soup, gave CHE' a double thumbs up on theirs!! Last, but not least, was the flatbread Fugazzeta... I think my eyes rolled back in my head, with delight!!!... And, as for the customer service, Alison (manager) rocks... She went out of her way to make our experience PERFECTION!!! We will definitely be dining at CHE' (O'Bryonville on Madison) very very soon again!!! Check it out... Adorable atmosphere and decor and staff that is THE BOMB!!! Five stars all the way!!!!
So good. Best Brussels sprouts in the city, empanadas are never wrong and the crème brûlée crepes for dessert were so good. Cocktails are balanced and interesting and great, much better than most restaurants. Service was prompt without being clingy. Highly recommend.
Empanadas are the reason we come but stay for the service! Always so accommodating, they start the fire upon request, make fun mocktails, and genuinely care if you are enjoying the entire experience, not just the food itself. Our favorites are: Short Rib, Korean BBQ, and De Carne Empanadas. Bruschetta Asada and Findido appetizers
So my spouse and folks came in on a whim and I was totally blown away by what we found! Atmosphere: warm, inviting, lush, and charming, yet not pretentious. Lovely gender neutral bathrooms, sparkling and spacious! Without a reservation we were sat at roomy table by the bar. I forget our servers name but he was very friendly and attentive. Food: I ordered the steak frites, perfect medium rare and the frites were delicious and generous to share with my folks. All the sauces, chimichurri, and guacamole were all delicious and complementary. Everyone else said they liked their empanadas and street tacos. My mom, bless her, is very basic and picky when it comes to eats and my spouse and I love dining and having food experiences. Hallelujah, we were all pleased with our meal! We’re already making plans to come back for brunch!!!
Alton was a wonderful server and the food and drinks were delicious as always.
I have been to this location several times. Last time was for restaurant week. I had the empanadas for appetizer (short rib and de carne), the skirt steak entre with roasted potatoes, and the apple dessert empana. All were excellent. The beef in the short rib empanada was tender and seasoned well. The service was great. Will be returning again.
Very tasty and innovative food, as well as plentiful and very well presented. Highly recommended.
I had the best time at Che for a girls' night out and have to give a huge shoutout to Alton! The food was delicious as always, but Alton made the entire experience exceptional. He was warm, knowledgeable, and so much fun :) He turned a good dinner into a great dinner, I'll definitely be back.
Shelby was our bartender and server. The service provided was excellent 👌🏾💯! Very kind , knew the menu well. Suggestions were on point and the drinks were......well let's just say I walked in and leaned out! 😂 I had a great time! Everything was great!
This place was fantastic! Everything was delicious and the ambiance was cozy. The only disappointment was the beer menu. It was obviously created by a non beer drinker.
This was my second time in the restaurant and it was just as amazing as the first. I was lucky to have Alton as my server and he was phenomenal! He was extremely attentive to detail and was able to meet our every need!
Great restaurant and food! Thank you to our server Alton for taking great care of us and making sure everything came out perfect! We will be returning
Great service, and delicious food. We split several empanadas and all of them were very good. Waiter was attentive and pleasant. I would/will absolute eat here again.
This place has such a great ambiance! Food was very delicious, and full of flavor! Jenna our server was superb! Extremely friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu, and catered to our table of 10+ people very swiftly! Would eat here again when visiting Cincy, loved it and highly recommend!
Had Che’ today and it did not disappoint. You really need to visit these guys and prolate to be amazed by the food, service, and atmosphere. A special shoutout goes to Alton for his attention and care for a great experience!! Will definitely come back when we’re in the city. Great service and great food!
My first time at Che and it was so good! Alton took care of my girls and I, and he made sure the food was hot, the drinks were cold, and the vibes were good! Thank you Alton and Che for the great experience can’t wait to go again!
2/6/23 Original - 3 stars Great food. We did have one of the empanada come out cold like it had been brought out of the freezer and heated up. Made me think we should have just gotten their frozen empanadas they sell up front instead of spending all that money to sit down. But still really good stuff. ———— 3/14/23 Revision - 4 stars We went again, this time on a Saturday night, to give Che another chance since we like the one downtown so much and this one is closer to us. SIGNIFICANTLY better all around. They definitely have their A team working Saturday nights over Mondays. Highly recommend the short rib and the mushroom empanadas!!!
Was a nice place to meet up. Food was actually better than expected.
Great spot. Great service. We could eat the Gorgonzala Romaine salad Every Day
I had wings, tacos and an empanada. Wings were good, tacos were better than most places. First time trying the empanada, I had the chicken I think. It was ok, didn't stand out as I expected, I should have gotten the short rib as suggested, it wasn't bad tho. There are a lot of steps in there. Not very user friendly if you're of age or just a klutz😂. You have to go up a few steps then down a few steps to go to the bathroom and the main dinning area is up a flight of steps. We had to sit on stools since we ate downstairs, I'm not a fan of stools at all. It was an overall good experience though.
Update: i learned how to make the salad and dressing myself, and I learned that they did Trish and Brian dirty. I won’t be back. I love this restaurant. I am addicted to the Romaine and Gorgonzola Salad or as I affectionally call it the "crack salad" because I can't get enough!! One of the reasons I enjoyed eating here, was due to 2 of the servers, Brian and Trish. I became a regular, in large part because I enjoyed chatting with them when they waited on me. Both were exceptionally hard workers from what I could tell. Because of them, I was bringing anyone who I could convince to join me for food. I last went a couple weeks ago and learned that they are no longer with Che. I was very disappointed. While I will likely be back, it will not be nearly as often. BRING THEM BACK!!
We've eaten here before and loved it. I don't if they were having an "off" night, but food quality for price was terrible. Service wasn't too great either and they weren't packed. Also, it was freezing by the windows. Also to note...we were a party of 7 and gratuity was automatically included at 20%.
Our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by a couple of bad aspects. On arrival, there was a large dead bug on one of the small plates sitting at the table - obviously this had not been checked in awhile. We were sat in a very dark area of the upstairs and the staff was not sure how to turn the lights on in that section. They were friendly and apologetic but obviously not very knowledgeable about the menu or the restaurant in general. Our server shared that they were severely understaffed that day, so I do understand the limitations of that. Food was excellent and definitely redeemed some of the negatives. However, I don’t think we will be returning to this location.
This review may be biased but it is my experience. After seeing a number of vegetarian options on the menu I was quite excited but when I got there and checked they said they use the same fryer for all empanadas so they cannot really guarantee my empanada would be 100% vegetarian.... And they did not offer to use a separate fryer either. So I just ordered the guac and chips. The salad did not sound very interesting at that point. My family tried many of the other empanadas and tacos and were underwhelmed .... The service was just about OK. Bare bones and not too friendly. The only high point was the chilled beer! Can't say that we will be going back anytime soon.
Argentinean client here. We came on a Friday night (sept 28th) . It took over an hour to take them our order. We participated in restaurant week, locro is not even close to what it actually is (it was a good soup but it’s not Argentinean), also the portion was significantly smaller than the Gramajo one. Milanesa a la Napolitana has to have tomato sauce, it’s a classic dish from Argentina and they couldn’t get it right. Again the Milanesa was way bigger than the Matambre. Chocolate cake and hash gramajo were great. Besides that, the food is not authentic, the service was poor, it took them too long to bring drinks, take the order, not picking up the dishes after appetizers, bringing dessert without taking the plates off, we piled them up at the end of the table. This restaurant is an insult to our Argentinean food.
First time at this restaurant. We were able to get seated quickly, and the general atmosphere was great. The waiter took our drink and appetizer order right away, but didn't return for nearly 20 minutes. We saw our drinks sitting on the bar nearby, but felt it was rude to grab them ourselves, so we patiently waited. We saw the hostess walk by and asked her to flag down our waiter, so we could finally be served. We ordered our meal at that time so we wouldn't be delayed further. When our empanadas came out, one person in our party had a mistake in their order (though minor.. 1 of the 3 empanadas was not the right one). Rather than leave the correct empanadas at the table for my friend to eat, the waiter took the whole plate to the back. By the time the food was brought back out, the rest of us were practically done eating. Lastly, we had to flag down other servers to get water and drink refills. Our server was "organizing food in the back." Overall just a disappointing experience considering the good was tasty.
Mother's day brunch was not great, took my wife and mother's there. My wife's meal, steak and eggs, came out 25 minutes after everything else. Everyone was finished no real apology, no offer to remove it from the bill, nothing. Food was wonderful as always, but our service clearly didn't put my wife's meal in at all, and to not offer to take care of us in any manner, disappointing.
*Editing my review to say that I did send an email where directed so they could "correct the issue" and never received a response* Incredibly disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I dined in on Wednesday 6/19/24, for our anniversary. We have a had a really rough year financially as my husband was diagnosed with cancer this year. We had gotten a gift card for Christmas and were looking forward to a stress free evening not having to worry about money. However when the meal came to a close and we paid with the gift card they refused to take it. The gift card was one of those experience local ones, and Che was one of the listed restaurants. The waiter told us we had to use it downtown which makes no sense because the gift card did not specify location and the restaurants have the same owner, same menu, i.e. the same point of sale system. We paid the bill, which was way too much for us to afford, we are now struggling to get groceries. There is no logical reason why they didn't accept this gift card, they had to have agreed to have their name on these cards. The meal itself was really underwhelming, just to add insult to injury. The appetizer came out cold, my husband's burger was dry and he only ate half of it. I doubt anyone will make this right. I'm so upset that what was supposed to be a stress free night has turned into us now struggling to get by for the week.
So I booked at this restaurant week and a half ago and the day before they cancelled my reservation saying now they have booked a holiday party therefore my booking has been cancelled!!!! No phone call, just a simple text and an email. Absolutely great communication and customer service!!
Tried to book a big private party there. Physically left my # at the bar, no reply. Called back and spoke to the manager, Josh, who sent to the private events coordinator. Left a message then ghosted me again. They just opened, I had a great brunch there and tried to help jump start them with a huge party booking (literally waving money). They must not want this location to be successful. It's a shame because the food and staff were great. Sorry, but corporate needs to get their act together... Booked elsewhere. Next...
The food was good but the whole experience was spoiled by extremely slow service from start to finish and the restaurant was not even busy. It took 20 min to be greated and get waters. Another 30 min to get our drinks. The entrees came out before our apps. At the end after asking for our checks it took 30 min to get the check and another 30 after that to get it paid. And since we were with a group the 20% gratuity was included. It seemed like the server knew he was getting a good tip no matter his service. Very upsetting.
Our discussion on music got a little loud (not crazy loud), and the ticket and to-go plates came within nanoseconds. Not sure if I’m overthinking it here. I don’t think I am I usually have to ask for that stuff at other places. Great food, great atmosphere however. That bumped it up to 2 vs 1 star. Would’ve been 5! Spent $100+ and still tipped reasonably :)
Empanadas were simultaneously undercooked (exterior) and overcooked (fillings). Yuca fries were greasy, flavorless (except for salt), and did not resemble yuca. Burger was greasy (literally dripping with grease). Service was very slow (despite the restaurant being empty). Three empanadas, two appetizers, a burger and a coke was $75. I love Latin food of almost every kind- this was not worth the time, money, or calories.
