This was our second time dining at The Standard and it was just as amazing as the first! The food, drinks, and atmosphere are all fantastic. I had the eggplant rollatini and a lemon drop martini — both were delicious! We finished with the cheesecake, which honestly is the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great food and a fun, welcoming vibe.
First time and went out for my mother-in law’s birthday. Highly recommend this place. Food was amazing and things I normally do not eat but was great trying new things. We had the salmon stuffed with crab special and the lamb with mushroom risotto. Both were amazing. Nicole our server was great and made sure we had an amazing evening. Sat on the patio with live music from a guitarist and harmonica player. For drinks, we recommend the Cherry Bourbon Smash and the Moroccan Mint Tea.
We love this place for the atmosphere, service and food experience. There were mostly high-notes with the food, except for the special appetizer of châteaubriand tartar and the squid ink paella: The tartar’s flavor profile was bland and the presentation was not commensurate with The Standard’s standards; from our experiences with ordering tartar, this one was definitely off. The squid ink paella, on the other hand, had a great presentation and flavor profile; however, as tasted, the shrimp were undercooked (still also appeared grayish), and the risotto’s texture suggested it was overcooked. These elements were not deal-breakers by any means. The other three entrees ordered were spot-on deelish, as were the desserts. We’ll be back without question.
The Standard. Yes It's on E 185. This is not the E 185 of 40 years ago. Its all shiny and new up and down the strip. This used to be a bar I frequented often and oh my how times have changed for the better. This establishment offers an eclectic menu with subtle middle eastern influence. You can have as much or little of that influence as you wish. For appetizers We had the Ceviche and Asparagus soup. Ceviche had perfect acid, knife work, and taste which made it easy to love.. The two things you can ask for in asparagus soup is velvety smooth and taste. Both were accomplished. The second course was eggplant rotellini expertly crafted and octopus with capers and red onion. Ocopus can be tricky but not here, again expertly crafted, The entrees were branzino and lamb shank risotto. The fish was deboned at the table making it a true culinary experience. I did not anticipate a whole lamb shank with my risotto but what a presentation. I expected great food.I expected great service. I expected a great culinary experience that our server, Isabella, the kitchen, and every member of that staff provided. You do not need downtown, or Vegas to have a culinary experience to remember. In the long run, with this being local, the value is off the charts.
Wife and I had a special night out at Standard and it was fantastic! Brittney and Olivia served us and they were friendly and helpful. The food was great - braised short ribs and wife had the paella….highly recommend this gem!
Excellent experience!!! Food was hot and fresh! Drinks were phenomenal! Isabella was a great server great customer service!! Can't wait to visit again!
Exceptional. The food is delicious and there are so many different things to try. Everyone's appetizers were so incredible it seemed hard to top the start of our meal. But our entrees exceed all expectations. I had the fillet, which is something I love, but it's hard to get it prepared correctly. I asked for mid rare, and the chef got it exactly right. Perfect medium rare. It was so flavorful and the sauce was a perfect addition. My husband had the Salmon stuffed with crab. Again, fabulous. Dinner was followed by to die for creme brulee. We were a large party and our service was exceptional. She was attentive, fun, informative and made the evening extra special. Don't wait try the Standard. We will definitely be back
What a beautiful place tucked into 185th for French cuisine! Their outdoor patio is majestic with fairy lights and tons of greenery. You almost forget where you are while you dine back there. The food options and champagne options are vast. I tried frog legs for the first time here and they were nothing like I expected in a very good way. We dined and drank champagne all night, what a beautiful experience. The waiters are top notch. Definitely check this place out! They’ve withstood the pandemic and everything and that’s solely because this is an amazing place to eat!
Everything was good. The food is excellent, tasty , exquisite like for a good French resto in Paris . But cheaper ;) We spent $85 for food for the family of 2 adults and 2 teens . We ordered 2 main course dishes, one big appetizer to share and 2 came for free ( warm fresh rolls with antipasti of oils and olives ). We had beer ($5...,what?) And 2-3 hot pots of tea. The restaurants only charged us $2 for all the cups of tea we kept asking for. It was a generous present for us after the long day. Thank you all, the team of The Standard! You really keep your standards high ;)
The atmosphere was great! From the door to my seat, everyone was very hospitable. I almost gave the review 4 stars because of my 1st waiter. He was polite, but not very knowledgeable about the wine selection. But the owner took over and things became 5 star stellar! My eggplant rollatini was bursting with flavor. My salmon and carrots melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be going back again.
We stopped in on a Sunday and I was impressed. Mark, our server, was very accommodating. His adult beverages are on point. The service and food were excellent. The decor was aesthetically pleasing. If you enjoy chocolate, try the cake.
The Standard is amazing!! We were so pleased with the whole experience! Staff was wonderful and time for everything was good and appropriate! What was ordered: Drinks: Chardonnay, The Standard special cocktail- both good! Starters: French onion soup, asparagus soup, beet salad - all 10/10!!! Meals: Stuffed salmon special, stuffed with crabmeat and topped with jumbo shrimp, vegetables and potatoes and a sauce, lamb lollipops and I personally ordered the braised short ribs all 10/10 and wonderful but my short ribs were phenomenal!! Dessert: Breas pudding and the lemon cheesecake. Both made in house, both great. I’d personally prefer a sauce over the bread putting but it was great with the ice cream and whipped cream! The lemon cheesecake was so fresh and lemon curd on top was amazing! Very pleased. Will definitely be back. Price for the portions were great. The atmosphere was beautiful, romantic and clean. We parked on the street, I did not see a clear parking lot but also didn’t care. Posted on the door was a dress code, no hats was all I saw when I passed. I didn’t see anyone in jeans so not sure if that was on the list. Can call and inquiry more to be sure. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
This place is a diamond in the rough. The neighborhood has been a place that is both endearing to locals and at the same time looked down upon by other neighborhood elitists. It is a place that would easily be overlooked by out of towners just by location alone but if by chance you venture down 185th you will see the old timey Marquis type sign that is vibrant , vintage, intriguing and fun. This restaurant reminds me of a place that you would see in a hopping WW2 military town. It has an endearing Americana welcoming intrigue that makes you want to step inside to see what is in store for you through the front door. That is just the outside of the building. When you enter, you see a bustling , yet classy dining area with a bar along the wall to your left. The hardwood floors are beautiful, the high ceilings with the detailed trim are an added appeal to the eye. We had chosen to eat in the outdoor dining area both times we visited. As we were led through the restaurant we passed an open window to the kitchen where you can see and smell the amazing menu options available. The outdoor seating area is reminiscent to other eateries I have had the pleasure of enjoying in other big cities on the East Coast (New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc.) It is definitely a place that makes you feel like you got to travel away from home to experience. The decor is breezy, the plants and lighting are bright enough for a creative ambiance without being overbearing or too busy. The menu is PRICEY. Expect that. The portions are big which for me means I get to enjoy it later as well. The flavors are atypical to your average dining options and that is refreshing. Prepare to enjoy a night out that feels like you took a flight somewhere far away to have this experience.
A hidden gem on 185th Street. Upscale dining in the heart of Euclid. White table clothes, professionally-trained servers. Service is good and food is delicious. Dishes are worth the prices charged. A thorough selection of draft beers. Love music is also a special treat. A trip was playing the night I visited. Definitely worth checking out The Standard!
What a fantastic little hidden gem. We had reservations for the garden patio and were not disappointed. Top notch food & service.
My wife and I visited this little gem for our 21st anniversary and were pleasantly surprised! I ordered the bouillabase and she ordered the lollipop lamb chops. Both amazing! I have been wanting to try a bouillabase for over a decade. The broth was pure magic. Great service and ambiance as well.
This was my first visit here and I'm planning to revisit the Standard already. The food was Awesome and the service was even more awesome. The atmosphere I absolutely loved it's just a nice chill grown up vibe.
Huge portions beware - the normal entrées feed 2-3 people! Flavorful, absolutely, insanely good food. We tried some different dishes than we would normally get, enjoyed all of them. Try the braised lamb risotto, mediterranean seafood pasta, and the vegetable couscous! Great ambiance, beautiful outdoor seating, nice waitstaff!
L.A.M.A. Middletown came out from Middletown N.Y. 10940 to hangout with Warthogs MC, dinner was at this Awsome Establishment. The food was great, the service was above and beyond and the staff was awsome. Zero complaints, no issue doing separate checks, prices were fair,,,, I highly recommend this Bar/Restaurant if you're in the area to wine and dine. Great place, Great Job by all who are involved in making this place as great as it is, Thank You 🤘😎🤘🇺🇲 #LAMAMIDDLETOWN #MIDCITYLAMA #MIDCITYSTRONG #MIDCITY #LAMA
My family and I decided to try somewhere new and local for my 47th birthday. The standard was awesome from planning to serving to food. Thank you manager Danielle she was amazing and our servers were great .
The Standard is one of our favorites and a first choice for a night out! This place has it all— Great vibe. Excellent service. Delicious food.
Cozy with attractive decor ... The Standard definitely is a great restaurant to move the E185th retail district in the right direction. Prices are not cheap, but the interesting selections made it worth it. I had the short rib stroganoff and my wife had the shrimp & grits. The beet appetizer gave me a renewed interest in this vegetable ... tasty with orange slices.
First time at the Standard won't be my last. Our waitress Jessica service was impeccable. The ambience of of the restaurant was relaxed and romantic. Salmon outstanding, wedge salad wonderful, margaritas not so good but, the wine Massimo Rivetti Moscato was so good i almost got up to sing with the band lol I highly recommend this wine if you like a sweet wine.
Excellent food, excellent service each time I have visited. The hangar steak did not disappoint tonight and was cooked exactly how I asked. Absolutely loved Lynette, the bartender who made my out of town guests feel like part of the family. Live music to round out the night was the icing on the cake.
This place is perfect for a great night out. Our server Martin was exceptional. I recommend to anyone in the Cleveland area looking for great food and a great atmosphere to fit the season.
Loved the menu. Staff was exceptional. Sous chef was very personable. Great east side restaurant.
This place should be at the top of your list for fine dining in Cleveland. Delectable dishes are prepared by a culinary genius and served up by attentive and friendly servers. Quaffable wines at realistic prices make for a perfect meal. And soothing entertainment on the outdoor patio should please all.
Classy place great staff and the food is always on point
The new Standard back patio is spectacular! White linen tablecloths, gurgling fountain, amazing plants and flowers, subtle romantic French music in the background. Possibly one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Cleveland!
Pretty tasty food! I had salmon and my girlfriend had the short rib. Both were cooked well!
This was a surprise. We met friends there and had a great experience. I never heard of this restaurant so it was a good find, but very expensive. We will be back but order off the menu instead of the specials
Have eaten here several times now. This past time was the best. Menu is full of great dishes. The Quail and Steak Au Poivre are my favorites. A hidden gem in my opinion as restaurants like this usually are located downtown.
Probably the best steak I've ever had in my life. I think I actually dreamed about it last night.
We were there with a large party. Staff is amazing, accommodating & attentive. Food was delicious & servings sizes are perfect. Downstairs is gorgeous and each area feels private. One of upstairs rooms is a little more decorated for atmosphere but we will go again. Nice to have a place to get dressed up & gather with some other couples for a night out.
Such a cozy bar and food was amazing. Innovative. Delicious. I had the best Moroccan lamb shank I've had in years and the beet salad was amazing. Great staff as well. Will definitely return even though I'm from out of town. Worth the drive.
Wow!! Just wow!!! Our friends who are regulars here invited us to try this place. We had the octopus appetizer and it was a perfect 10+ Cannot even explain how tender and amazing it is! We were told they have the best steak you will ever eat. Yes it is the best steak ever!! Portion is crazy huge and every bite tender and delicious. I had the Said boullebais and it is amazing. The broth is piping hot. The lobster, scallops, shrimp, clams and muscles were perfectly cooked. Huge!! Enough to share. Cocktails were spot on. My friend had asparagus soup and had me try it . Yes it was beyond terrific. Now I have to go back to have it. The chef visited our table and he was so welcoming. Our server Rose was perfect and so knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place There are at least another dozen items on the vast menu we must try. Update-we returned for a bday celebration with a party of 14. Danielle took our reservation and everything was absolutely perfect. We were seated immediately. Waited on impeccably. Chef even sent a round of champagne. 1st timers said the food is the best around. Love this place and the staff
Absolutely amazing place. The food and service were impressive. The only reason I rated atmosphere slightly lower is that it was VERY dark inside the bar area. I'm not even 40 and had to turn on the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. Will 100% be back!
Wow! Ate there last night we had the duck & short rib, both were fantastic. Excellent service and very nice atmosphere I could do without tv’s in this fine restaurant. Highly recommended, we”ll be back.
I would give 5 stars, but I feel like the prices are a little high. We were there on a quieter night and sat out on the beautiful patio. The service was very good. We had a large party so there were 2 servers helping. The food was delicious and plentiful. The cocktails were perfect and refreshing. All in all it was an enjoyable evening. Due to their menu pricing on everything, not just the specials, it's not some place I'd be going often. Nobody wanted to increase their bill with an appetizer and that was a shame because there are things that would have been nice to try.
Went here for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant is very nice & our waitress was great. Got the French onion soup, which was very delicious nice and sweet. We also got the crab claws which I didn't think were anything special, but my significant other enjoyed them. For my main I got the filet au poivre. The filet was cooked perfectly and was so tender you barely had to chew it. However, whatever the sauce was underneath was extremely salty. Overall the meal was good even though it costs a small fortune to eat here.
Not much to be admired on the outside but once you enter its a different story. Very elegant fine dining. Friendly staff, and delicious food. Not a long wait time either. Their Mediterranean seafood pasta was delicious and a large portion and we enjoyed the pan seared salmon as well. They don't have a kids menu but both my kids enjoyed the Shrimp au gratin and spaghetti bolognese. Will definitely visit again.
Huge portions and delicious food! It's cold by the door in the winter and the kitchen could use better smoke ventilation. Overall nice place and surprising neighborhood find!
Started with the Cesar salad with anchovies , fresh and delicious Ordered the brazed short ribs- outstanding. My wife order the filet and a strip steak came instead. After several minutes staff realized the mistake and switched the meals ( I’m sure it was an accident, but really). After salad and the olive appetizer we were told to keep our silverware. It created a mess on our white table cloth. This process I don’t agree with . The cheese cake was recommended as a light dessert. I don’t recommend it- too salty. Even with these issues the food and atmosphere were really nice. In the back of the restaurant is a covered exterior bar with seating under cover and out in the open. The surroundings are beautiful and I look forward to dining in this area on a summer evening.
Amazing establishment. We sat right outside the kitchen and boy was it a show. I ordered the surf and turf and it was made to perfection. The cherry bourbon smash was great and our server Sahara was a delight. We will add The Standard as 1 of our date night stops
Normally, I would rate this place a 5, but I was so disappointed on how my favorite dish was prepared on yesterday. I LOVE the stuffed Salmon, but this is the first time I have ever eaten it and the crab meat had an overpowering Chipotle flavoring. It took away from the entire meal. I took a friend there because I've raved for months about how delicious this dish was! Not sure who changed the recipe??! If it's not broke, don't fix it!! Super disappointed...other than this it's a great place with delicious food and a very romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Please revert back to the original recipe for the stuffed Salmon 🙏🏼, it went from a 10 to a 7!
Great little spot with a very impressive menu. Almost to impressive because the kitchen was either understaffed or just extremely booked on the patio and upstairs to Keep up with their own menu. They were struggling to get orders out but hey I don't own a restaurant so I don't have much room to talk. Dining room was a little Smokey at times so not sure if they were having hood problems or not in the kitchen. However my experience was not defined by that as the dining room was nice and dimly lit for that intimate touch. Loved the brick walls and the bar was really nice and kept up too. The location was an old house turned into a restaurant which I enjoy as it gives it the space that special homely feeling as you dine. I did have several plates this evening starting with the bone marrow and a fresh beet salad. I've never had a beet salad before so I was rather impressed with the flavors and freshness of this dish. The bone marrow was ok and definitely had better. If you are a bone marrow lover take a pass here its kinda basic. There just wasn't enough bone marrow in their for me and the flavor was simple. Still a great dish but wouldn't go back just for that! I forgot to take more pictures of the braised Lamb Shank with shiitake mushroom risotto, frog legs, & the quail over cream corn. Needless to say the Quail over cream corn plate deserved a picture the most. The frog legs were pan friend or something in heavy oil and you could see it on the plate. The breading was falling off when you picked up a leg and therefore had to be cut with a fork and knife! For me frog legs should be picked up like a chicken leg to be devoured and this wasn't the case. That dish was a huge let down for me. The braised Lamb Shank was ok with the best part being the bed of shiitake mushroom risotto. The lamb was kind of bland but saved by it's "melt in your mouth" quality. Definitely glad I stopped here though as I was able to try a dish in a way that I never had before. The quail over cream corn was the dish that made the night. My date and I are still raving over the flavors and presentation of this dish. The bird was fried whole then stuffed with I don't know what.💗 I believe the cream corn was made with gruyere cheese. Ugh, my mouth is watering describing it on here for you all. This dish was hands down AMAZING! It is a must if you are ever in the East Side of Cleveland!
The food is usually amazing on a regular day. The food lacked the usual high end quality due to them trying to serve as many people as possible due to it being Valentine’s Day. The servers were nice but overwhelmed. The food was mid. I know to just come to the restaurant on a regular day. The menu was limited and didn’t have all I wanted. The twin lobster tail had no flavor. I enjoyed it over the risotto previously but this was just a handful of potatoes and legumes. I just know not to go during any holidays. It wasn’t worth $120 for 2 lobsters that were dry and flavorless.
Made a reservation but they seemed surprised when we showed up. We sat at our table for twenty minutes being ignored by waitstaff until my fiancee went back up to the host station to ask. Cocktails, ceviche and the bread were good, although if you would like more than three small biscuit sized pieces, be prepared to pay for it. The braised lamb was good but the paella was a complete mess. Overcooked shellfish on a bed of soggy glutinous rice, no real taste to any of it. My fiancee ordered a glass of wine with dinner, but the waiter walked away before I could order a glass. I'm grateful for that, because the wine had something seriously wrong with it. Maybe the bottle was open too long. It had a strong medicinal smell and taste. To their credit, they did bring another glass, when that had the same bad taste, they took it off the bill. Beautiful space, great atmosphere. I just wish the food and service had been as good.
Disappointing Experience at The Standard I was really looking forward to dining at The Standard, but the service and overall experience were extremely disappointing. From the beginning, our waitress never introduced herself. We were asked for our order without being told about any house specials — we had to ask for them ourselves. It felt rushed and inattentive. I later had to look at my receipt just to find out her name was Alivia. Things quickly went downhill. Alivia spilled my New York whiskey sour on the table and didn’t offer to clean it up. I had to ask for napkins and clean the mess myself. The worst part of the evening was discovering rubber bands in my short rib meal. When I brought it to the attention of a different waiter, I was assured I wouldn’t be charged for the dish. However, when I received the check, the short rib was still on it. Alivia then told me I wasn’t being charged for the replacement meal — but there was no replacement, just the same food replated. To top it off, when she packed our food to-go, she never brought it back to the table. I had to go find her just to get my food so I could leave. This experience showed a complete lack of care and professionalism. For a place with such a solid reputation, I expected much better.
Made reservations mid week with the restaurant directly. Made the reservations for Saturday at 7pm which I know is a busy time and day. But called ahead because it was a special occasion and didn’t want to leave anything to chance. Talked to the person on the phone about table selection and ended up settling on the dinning room. Got a call on Saturday 4 hours before we were set to leave for dinner telling us they could no longer honor our reservations. They offered to move our reservation to 8:30, which we could not do, or offered us a table outside on a night we’re then temperature was going to be 58 degrees. They also offered us a seat at the bar. Not a table in the bar area. But a seat at the bar. Nothing says special occasion like sitting at the bar. I asked to speak to the manager and the person on the phone informed me that she would have the manager call me but it wouldn’t change anything. Why take reservations if you do not honor them. The manager did call me back later and tried to rectify the situation but the last thing I wanted was to be squeezed in on a busy night. They have lost my trust as a customer and we will not be returning to this establishment. I have seen other reviews complaining of the same problem at this restaurant. Be wary of making reservations at this restaurant.
