Best Indian food in fresno hands down. I have tried a lot of different places however Slice of India consistently reigns at the top. Be warned they do take their time in making the entrees (which is a good thing for Indian food). The entrees are always fresh and cooked to your spice level. I recommend the chicken Bahar with the garlic naan. The garlic naan are unparalleled here int the central valley ( as of now). Highly recommend for those who are looking for great quality Indian food in fresno. Cons: sometimes a wait to be seated (should not deter you away).
Oh my goodness! YUM! Since trying Indian Food I have stayed on the safe side and have continued visiting two other sites in the area that I was introduced to. Yesterday, I was in the mood for this type of food so I searched restaurants near me. A Slice of India came up and I decided to give it a try. It definitely did not disappoint and will most definitely try again!
So delicious! My family just had it tonight and we enjoyed it so much! The samosas and naan are to die for! Yummy sauces and great flavors inside of them. Friendly staff as well. We will definitely be coming back more often!
So, so good. It's actually quite a drive from my house but I never mind taking the drive for this food. I've noticed the portions are a little bigger than other Indian food restaurants around town, and rice comes with all of the meals which is also a great addition compared to some other places. I usually get the shrimp tikka masala and garlic naan and I'm never disappointed. I like my food pretty spicy and the medium is the perfect spice. The restaurant always appears clean and staff is always professional. The food is made fresh so definitely call in ahead of time! Highly suggest :)
Love this place! We've been for both dinner and the lunch buffet many times. The owner is really kind- every single time we've been, he's come out to check with each table to see how their food is and makes sure everyone is happy. Not to mention that the food is absolutely delicious. For the buffet, things are on the mild side in order to appeal to more people, but they do have a hot sauce available- just ask! For dinner, you can choose your spice level. This has easily become one of, if not our favorite restaurant in town.
This is my favorite Indian restaurant ever. Of all time. It's that good. We've had the buffet once, but usually come for dinner and order our favorites. The service is great, the food is amazing, and I leave happy every time. I've told the chef and I'll tell you, if it closes I'll cry. Try the chef's special chicken curry - I've never had anything like it!
Undoubtedly one of the best if not the very best in Central California for East Indian food. Great balance and subtlety in flavors unlike a lot of other monotonic Indian bases on three or four curry bases. Also, meats are not overcooked with quality ingredients. If you're vegetarian, there is no tastier option than great Indian spices with fresh veggies. It's a small place with generous portions, affordable prices and good varied menu.
First of all, thank you, thank you to the owners and staff/family for the most wonderful Indian cuisine we’ve ever had. 5 stars and more! My wife and I have been coming here for months now and have visited over and over again not only because of the wonderful food, but the customer service as well. Top 4 dishes: 1. Chicken Bahar 2. Chicken Tika 3. Chef Special Chicken Curry 4. Butter Chicken And make sure to order plenty of garlic naan to soak up the extra sauce! Customer service is like none other because they truly make you feel like family here. Everybody is so kind and attentive. Slice of India is in our top 5 restaurants of all time! Please do yourself and favor and try it as well. We wanted to come in this evening, but they are on a well-deserved family vacation until March. Enjoy!
Since changing my eating habits, I have avoided eating out due to not being able to find much that fit my needs, until tonight. I AM IN HEAVEN!!!! The menu is absolutely amazing! So many healthy options that fit my needs. They have Vegetarian and Vegan options and they label the appropriately. The flavor is out of this world. I am so grateful and happy!!! The Mushroom Mattar is incredible with the Indian cucumber salad and whole wheat Nan!!!! Beyond impressive!
Gotta be the best Indian buffet in town. So many delicious dishes cooked to perfection supervised by the very amiable owner who often personally mixes with diners to get spicy-level & other feedback. Very attentive service, too. I highly recommend Slice of India!
Slice of India is an amazing place. Went there for the first time just now with my wife and mother. The staff were very friendly, and the food, good lord, the food was absolutely amazing. The chef even came out to chat with us a little and ask if everything was to our liking. We will definitely be returning.
Their butter chicken is 10/10 cannot get enough of it! Definitely recommend
Best Indian food in all of Fresno, well worth a try. In fact it’s a must try if you want Indian food while living in Fresno.
A nice, homely hole in the wall on the northeast corner of willow and nees. Service is decent, very passable, kind well meaning folk. Only minor communication issues since the staff are definitely 1st generation immigrants, maybe 2nd. Drink selection is a bit lacking, but you really cant go wrong with pepsi, sprite, and Mt. Dew. They also have a very very nice 5 dollar mango yogurt smoothie that goes great with their lamb tikka masala. Always order spicy hot!
Went for lunch. Spice levels were great for all of our party, several different ways. Recommendations were good. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Portions were good sized, good amount to take home and enjoyed again. Would absolutely go back!
My partner and I got takeout here, and it was pretty good! The lady with whom I spoke on the phone was nice and helpful with answering any questions I had. They have quite a few vegan options on the menu, and the options are clearly labeled, which made it easy and convenient to choose dinner. When I went in to pick up the order, they were happy to refill my water bottle for me, and were informative about how much longer I had to wait. While I waited, they even checked in with me once to make sure I knew that my food was on its way.
Been coming here about 2 years. Very consistent flavors. Good prices. Absolutely delicious food. Best Chicken Tikka Masala in Fresno. Hope the previous cashier is doing well.
Great food! The folks working there are respectful, nice and welcoming. All around great experience every time I visit.
The food was amazing. Interestingly, very authentic, and yet not overly seasoned. I've had Indian before, but it seemed overwhelmingly seasoned. This place cooks with fresh ingredients, and it's simply flavorful. Unlike other Indian restaurants, when you walk in to Slice of India, the odors are enjoyable, not overwhelming. The lady owner could be seem unfriendly, but she's nice and proud of her dishes. This place is a most definitely must try!
Delicious! The lady was very helpful and introduced me to two new dishes that were excellent and actually spicy. I LOVE spicy food, but it's hard to find on this side of town. I'm pleasantly surprised! They also have mild versions for those who don't like spicy food. Highly recommend.
It takes 30 min for me to get here but it's worth it. This is one of my favorite spots in town but especially during Lent because they have such a large selection of vegetarian options. Sometimes it can take a half an hour to prepare my food so I always call ahead and there is never any problem. The location is kind of small and you can see the kitchen as soon as you walk in, which is cool because the people preparing your food often greet you when you walk in as well. Nothing but good things to say about this place, great service, great quality, great portions. I'll keep coming back.
This restaurant serves amazing, freshly cooked food. It is very tasty. When they say spicy, it is spicy! Thanks to our hospitable host and server Harvinder, who took our order and who warned us about the spice levels, we were able to enjoy the delicious food. 10/10 for the food, 10/10 for the hospitality. Loved our experience there!
The food is fantastic, and I find myself craving the butter chicken and the fresh baked naan bread. The restaurant is a family operation and you can feel the love coming from the kitchen. We once asked the chef what his favorite item on the menu was and he responded, "They're all my favorites, that's why I put them on the menu!"
For those who had never been to Slice of India, please read on; for those of you who had been to the restaurant, I think you can resonate on my experience. The first time me and my family dined in at Slice of India, frankly we were a little intimidated by the lady who tend to our table. She was stern and did not smile during our conversation, and we thought she was mad or in a bad mood. When the food arrive, we were surprised by how good everything tasted. The portions are big and we tried our best to finish as much as we can (since food was SO GOOD) but we had to take some home. We return again and again shortly after and we get more acquainted with the lady who serve us every time we visited. She is a very nice and kind person with a strong personality. She always provided prompt service and provided great recommendations as well. Interior of this place clean and well organized, and it was decorated similarly to a typical Indian restaurants. From our past experience, only suggestion I have is it’d be great if the wait time for food can be shortened. However, I know that all orders are made fresh and that’s probably why it took some time for each order to be prepared. Overall, great food, clean interior, combined with prompt service, I’d recommend anyone to give Slice of India a try.
Since I moved from the Bay Area , I’ve been looking for an authentic tasty Indian food and I could say I finally found it here in fresno. This restaurant is located at a prestigious neighborhood in fresno. Their food is so delicious 🤤 and spicy 🌶. Their customers service is so superb and professional. harvinder was the person who took care of my and he was so kind and friendly . The chef himself notified me that my food would take time to be ready cause I ordered a whole tandoori chicken and it’s very understandable which means they literally cook fresh food 🥘 Highly recommend this place and their prices are affordable in comparison to others .. I ordered Chicken Sagg which is one of my favorite , and tandoori chicken .. delicious 😋
Slice Of India is renowned for its delicious Indian food in Town, providing locals and visitors with an authentic taste of India. It has become a popular destination for those seeking a memorable dining experience filled with aromatic spices, vibrant flavors, and a touch of Indian culture.
Words are very less to describe this place. the ambiance is good.staff is nice. And the food is mind blowing it is the best Indian food I had in Fresno. Must try is Kashmiri chicken and paneer tikka masala. And their mango ice cream has perfect mixture and flavor of mango, saffron, and pistachio i just love this place.
Nice people serving spicy foods made from quality ingredients. Sweet va heat and the cooked the lamb perfectly!
Wow. This is now my favorite Indian place and I don't even live anywhere near it. It was Happy's in Ripon, CA for the last year+ because of the sheer amazing taste, but I think these folks have Happy's beat (met the owner\chef, really nice this past week, as he checked on us and made sure all was good). Ordered Chicken Tikka Masala extra spicy, some chicken pakora, rice and garlic naan. Normally, when a curry is really spiced up, some of the amazing flavors that normally fire off all taste bud cylinders go by the way-side some since it can overwhelm a bit. Not theirs. It was off the charts flavorful and had all kinds of goodness in the kick. Had a really nicer thicker consistency and solid quality tender chicken too. Sauces for the Chicken Pakora were also on point, as was the garlic naan, and rice, nothing special average there, but no issues. Happy's in Ripon, there Pakora is a bit more robust in size, but flavor profiles very similar. This is now on my short list when visiting friends in Clovis. YUM! Also, the staff and owner were very humble, kind and served our party very nicely! :)
I came in today and got the butter chicken and naan with garlic and basil. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had excellent service, the food tastes amazing and authentic. I will be a returning customer!
Great prices, yummy food. We had the veg pakoras with 2 sauces, one was amazing the other was fine. The garlic nap has fresh chunks of garlic on them, so good. The gobie Ali had lots of fresh garlic and ginger. We would be regulars if we here, if u r driving through Fresno make the stop.
Cozy, well cared for space, with a family feel. The wonderful spiced aroma, embraced upon entering. Many menu options to choose from. Perfectly cooked naan bread. Strongly seasoned sauces, as they should be. (The medium spiciness was just as expected. The hotter spice would be best for those who are desiring that hot Indian spice level. If you're not sure, start with the basics.) Portion sizes are just right. We left with leftovers for another meal. Diverse atmosphere. Kind and happy employees. Family friendly if the kids like Indian food. (I only say that because I personally wouldn't want to sit next to kids that react to an unpleasant experience if they don't care for Indian food.) Foods ordered: Iced Chai Tea with milk • I expected a stronger tea. Chicken Tikka Masala • Flavor excellent, a thicker sauce than I'm used to. Basmati Rice • Well cooked, on the dryer side. Balances with the sauce. Garlic Basil Naan • Exceeded expectations. Lightly charred in all the right places. Mild basil herbs, basil flavor didn't come through. Next time I'd just order the garlic naan. • Basmati Rice pudding (I forgot the name... Kheer?) Seemed like a family recipe. Pleasant. Also, included was a large pitcher of great tasting ice water. Side note: Easy, free plaza parking. Didn't experience any trouble with others regarding masks, or personal space. (I don't like drama.) Clean restrooms. Easy menus. Alcohol options were simple: beer and white/red wines. Bottom Line: would definitely go again. Worth the cost. History: Have Indian friends, many food experiences in Los Angeles.

Authentic India food. Love the chicken biryani and classic chicken curry with a side of garlic naan and a mango lassi!
Food was amazing! Chili Chicken and garlic naan were super on point. I got takeout for my wife and me and while I didn’t eat in the restaurant I found the dining area to be clean and inviting. Food was ready fast and service was with a smile. I will definitely be back.
Slice of India is a hidden gem!! The food is incredible and I haven't been able to find better Indian food.
I love Indian food. I have been to 25+ different Indian restaurants around the world, including the highest rated Indian restaurant in the US. Slice of India is the best by far, and that is not an exaggeration. Everyone I have ever brought to eat here has loved it. I've eaten here well over 100 times. NOTE: Sometimes the service can seem rude, but I assure you the people that work here are extremely nice and the food is worth the service not being like your typical restaurant.
Food is Good! Kids love the chicken pakora. My husband’s favorite dishes are the Butter Chicken and Chana Masala. Mine are mutter paneer and Chicken Korma. You can pick your spice level and place is always clean.
Their chicken tikka masala is the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’ve never loved someone because of how good their food is until I met the chef of this restaurant. I hope he and his loved ones live a long life and continue blessing Fresno with their food.
I have been coming here for ten years! The food is the best in town. Not frozen. Always freshly made. With that said service is a small mom and pop ran place. The food is fresh so it takes a little longer. They work really hard here. There take out is busy too.
Probably one of the best Indian spots in town. I came here with a friend once and everything was just top notch. The gravies, the meats, and the teas (we got several dishes to share). My friend was complimenting the ras malai (probably misspelled it). Also got take out another time and we were not disappointed.
The best Indian food in town. Period. Been coming here for 3 years and I have never been disappointed. Must have weekly!! This place is consistently good and flavorful. It’s hard to find such gems in a small town!!!
This place is so under rated, probably the best most flavorful Indian food I’ve had! Also so reasonably priced.
Our favorite place in town. The food is always incredible and the staff are so friendly. This food takeout is our cozy blanket at home. It’s a must every week.

Authentic Indian food. Quick service. Affordable pricing. Lots of options. Loved the garlic naan! Clean place. Parking is available as this part of a mall.
I opened the door, the lights were off and I kid you not people were sleeping, I'm not sure if I'll be back or not. I really want to try their food because a coworker of mine told me that they're great. So I went back months later. I got their butter chicken with garlic naan bread. Very good, good chunks of chicken. I would definitely go back the environment inside was clean and customer service was great.
Wait to order drinks and food took about 20 minutes. Took another 10 mi to get drinks. Got our appetizer at about a total 50 min wait. Our food 30 min after that…Food was ok. Going a good 6 inches of thick black hair in my dish. Never offered a refill on drinks nor came around to ask for one. There was a total of 4 tables worth of people. We waited about 20 minutes for tab… never came so we went to the counter. If you’d had been great the wait would of been worth it.
Very unprofessional service. This is an incident from July 2, 2022. Visiting Fresno, we came to this place for dinner. 20 minutes in and no table service. Then, an Indian waitress came by and apologized for the delay since a waiter was off-duty and the restaurant was busy ( from what we observed, there were 2 other tables apart from us). We said that’s not a problem and began ordering. Disclaimer: The rest of this review is really about the service from the waitress and might not reflect the quality of service from other waiters. We ordered a bunch of items (appetizers, beverage, curry and breads) and the waitress said that 1 curry wouldn’t suffice for the table (we were 3 adults) - she forced us to order more 3 times. We said we will order later if required. That’s when the fiasco started - the waitress insisted we order right away and that we will not be allowed to order later (the restaurant had 3 good hours to close). We then said we will be fine with what we ordered already and she forced us to order more. Then she commented that it is worthless for her to wait the table when such quantities are ordered and made a face with a “go to hell” expression. This was, by far, the rudest service we have gotten in our lives. We cancelled the order and left. Amidst all this, there was a party of 6 that came in and was impolitely chased out of the restaurant quoting “busy” and “can’t handle” by the same waitress. There were empty tables available. For what it’s worth, take your business to “Curry out Clovis” in the same area - same cuisine, less pricey but wonderful food and people!
How can this place be rated above 3 stars? This is probably the worst service I have ever had. Only 2 tables filled (us as 3rd table). We ordered 3 dish and had to wait for 1 hour and 15 mins. Another couple came 15 mins after us and still got their food first. How does this make sense? Never came to check if we need more drinks. Never came to apologize for the wait. First time here and never going back.
