This was our second time here. Enjoyed the meal and the service was friendly and prompt. The steak was excelent and flavorful. The chicken and leek pastie was good, but the chicken was a little dry.
Had dinner with a colleague while visiting for work. We were recommended to eat in 44 Stone by a few people. And it did not disappoint. The place was packed and busy during dinner time. We were lucky and got to seat on the bar. The bartender who served us was very friendly. Dishes were amazing and everything tasted great. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a great experience.
Amazing food, friendly and helpful servers, great value for your money. At lots of restaurants the "fancy" thing about them is that they're expensive. Not here! Every bite was a unique and pleasant experience, and it was very reasonably priced. I can't wait to come back.
What a pleasant surprise, my wife and I had been looking for a good burger place in this town for a long while, and the only regret I made was getting the Seoul Disco Fries with the 44burger, because they were both massively delicious. Also dug the bread pudding, our waitress was very kind, the only complaint I really had was the seats we got, we would have preferred an actual table or booth, but the food was good enough to not make something as petty as that a knock off the grade. Hope to come back here again in the future.
44 Stone has been our go to for years. Since COVID, getting a reliable meal curbside has been a toss up but 44 has remained consistently great every time. Their fish & chips, 44 Stone burger, and any special feature are phenomenal. Plus all of their appetizers are perfect sharing plates for a family and they make the best sauces in town. We'll keep coming back again and again and cannot wait to join them on the patio or at the high tops very soon!
I was surprised how good the food was. I went at lunchtime with my wife, daughter and her friend. My wife got the lamb burger and really enjoyed it. I got their take on the Reuben sandwich and it was very good. I thought it would be another slightly overpriced restaurant with fancy names but just average food and I was wrong. I will definitely go again.
Was passing through the neighborhood on the way to St. Louis from Kansas City when we wanted to try something local on the way home to experience something different, this place caught our eye online so we stopped in, and it lived up to the good reviews we saw!! To start we had the Welsh rarebit, I have heard of the dish but never experienced it, and this restaurants version of it was phenomenal, definitely unhealthy but absolutely delicious. My companion and I both got the lamb burger, which was pretty good although not as phenomenal as the appetizer. I also really enjoyed my salad, some house salads can be pretty boring and mediocre but this one was very good, especially the house dressing. I also enjoyed their selection of cocktails and got the Negroni which is pictured and then a rosemary spritz, also delightful. We were so full that we were disappointed that we had to turn away the dessert menu, although we would probably want to try that next time! A great place to stop if you’re driving through Columbia, MO!
Delicious food and drinks. Unique and well put together flavors. Fish and Chips was great! Appetizers were all great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Private room for large groups. Staff was hospitable and professional.
One of the best meals I've had in a while! The vibes are very chill, it's a gorgeous clean building with interesting architecture. We had the deviled eggs, whisky salmon, and shrimp of the day with polenta. Also the seabreaze cocktail and cucumber ginger martini. Everything is reasonably priced for the quality you get. I cannot recommend this place enough!
We got the veggie curry (with chicken), the Tikka masala soup, the children's chicken tenders with fries, the Seoul disco fries, and the fish and chips (with fries)... Pros: the food was great... All of it. There wasn't anything that wasn't good tasting. The portions were good and worth the cost. The service was great, she was attentive, welcoming, knowledgeable and nice. The seating was great... I am sure we got a larger table than one would normally (we have a toddler so we requested the booth in the back). Cons: Expensive.... If you aren't careful you can spend quite a lot. If it were busier the seating might not have been possible.
I loved this place! The burgers were sweet from the wood fired grill they are cooked over. At least I am assuming that was the case. The burger was cooked to order, and done right. Not like so many places who can't seem to figure out when meat is R/MR/M/MW/WD, not to mention black and blue. I found the sauces, like the homemade ketchup, strange, but to each their own. I'll take Heinz, and Hellman's. I added a fried egg, (a favorite of mine since I was a child and had them on burgers are the Carlton in Cannes), with home cured bacon, which was killer! A thick slice of cheese to top it all off, on a pretzel roll. I wasn't sure about that when I ordered, but it turned out to be very nice. The fries were decent, but not great. The dessert I had was killer. Some kind of shortcake with ice cream. Not too sweet at all, with the right amount of vanilla to give it a very nice flavor, as the ice cream melted with the just fried dough!, The beer was very nice. Brooklyn Brewery lager on tap.
Such a great place to get some good food! I had the Lamb burger with a fried egg and sautéed arugula and tried a new blonde ale from Belgium! The atmosphere was great, food was amazing, and service was top-notch! The little European decor throughout the place is super neat too. Btw try the Pudding dessert with ice cream- Sooo good! Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back👌🏽
Nice atmosphere and great staff. They were very friendly and quick. The food came out fresh and tasted amazing. The deviled eggs were a different spin on the classic but savory. Higher pricing, but we'll worth it.
This place has the closest you will get to British Food around here. Their burger and fries were very filling. My friend enjoyed her meal with fries and a nice mixed drink. Saw many patrons enjoying their meals while there. Gets busy during peak times and has nice outside dining as well.
One of my top 3 restaurants in CoMo! The food is very good and the portions are very large! They’ve got a really interesting menu and have a few Indian and Korean items to add a creative kick of variety to their pub fare. I love their reuben, but can never finish it. Wife likes their burgers on pretzel buns. We were a little skeptical when we saw sliced deli meat their charcuterie, but that turned out to be one of the best things there. Smokey and sweet, definitely worth a try. Service is fast and friendly, and the kitchen is swift and always gets my wife’s weird orders perfectly. Atmosphere is really nice for a tap house, my wife and I felt like it was upscale but not stuffy. They’ve got a big selection of beers on tap and whiskey cocktails with a lot of really good drinks at reasonable prices. I really like this place and I plan to come here for drinks after work often now that things are opening back up.
OK it has been a hot minute since we have been “Wowed!” at a restaurant. Let’s start with the decor. Fun little alcoves and curves all over the place. The lighting, perfect, with faint music in the background to fill the quiet spots but not over take the conversation. Large drink menus on the walls with local favs. The menu, creative and fresh. Now the deviled eggs... a ballsy move, because who does deviled eggs? Oh 44 Stone does when you can’t kill it! They took two gentle flavors and made them pop, eggs and salmon. Next time we go, we’re getting that again. Now let’s move onto the steaks. If I were to give them any encouragement or improvement, it would be to step away from the sirloin and get a ribeye or no, I think the KC strip would be the better move. Go ahead and charge more money, you’re worth it. Because they perfectly grilled, flavored and presented an amazing steak. I would recommend substitute in the vegetables over the potatoes. Just because of the visual presentation is much better and the flavors are more diverse. But if you need your meat and potato fix, go with the standard. We rarely stay for dessert, but this meal was so amazing at this point, we’re like “Hell yes! Give us a dessert, what you got?” They did not disappoint! Fried butter cake with caramel sauce and ice cream was a textual, flavorful, sensational dance in your mouth. This meal was actually fun! Now they have these red hoody bus girls to clear the tables, it was a fun casual way of taking care of business while coming off professonial and fun. We are coming back!!!
This is a place where handmade hamburgers and fish and chips are delicious. It is more interesting because I can taste about 50 beers. Whenever I come here, I want to taste a different beer.
Celebrated partners Bday and 5 stars all around. Not only made wonderful new memory; everything was perfect. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Cocktails and drinks 5/5 Highly recommend going and try the 44 Stone Burger.
This was our first time here. Got the Fish & Chips and the Reuben (no sauerkraut, just cabbage). Food was very good and we got enough for 2+ meals. Our waitress was outstanding! I'm looking forward to going back!
A hidden gem for certain. Great food and a large selection of beer and spirits. Friendly servers that offered advice on the menu options. I recommend giving it a try. Our group of 8 loved it before the basketball game!
Lamb burger was spectacular. He loved his fish and chips. Pub cheese fritters were very tasty also, love the mustard sauce. Short wait, friendly service. Would highly recommend.
One of my favorite places in CoMo. Every meal I have had here has been great! And the service is always good too. The Grilled Apple Salad is SO GOOD. I added the Whiskey Marinated Grilled Salmon to the salad and it was amazing - def my favorite salad! The Pimm's Cup cocktail was also good, very refreshing and not too sweet. Will def be back soon!
We enjoyed a nice pint, sandwich and the Ploughman's lunch. It's a great spot in Columbia that seemed to be slightly more upscale than the usual spots.
Their food is freaking amazing! I've never had anything here that I didn't absolutely adore!! The service is quick, friendly and phenomenal!
This is one of the top restaurants on my list when I come back to CoMO to visit. Used to go all the time, now I'm missing it all the time. The atmosphere is still the same laid back, quite and enjoyably feel, the food is still unique, comforting and delicious. So happy to see that some things don't change, because they don't have to!
This was our second trip here. It’s been a few years but the food was just as good as we remembered. Great drink selection as well.
Stopped in on a rainy Saturday. Enjoyed it as it was a little different from the typical restaurant. Beer selection was OK, food was very good with the highlight being a sausage soup. Service was ok, food came out really fast once the order was placed.
Food is amazing! Huge selection of beers and liquors. Super authentic pub setting and very friendly staff. 10/10 every day of the week. Been going here for years and we love it. The pub fritters are my favorite!
Despite a slightly narrow selection of dishes, our party all found something we enjoyed. Our server was great, the steak's sauce was phenomenal, and cooked just right.
My son and I loved our experience here. The service was good and the food was delicious.
Great place for some awesome food. Relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff. Pork belly sandwich and Seoul disco fries.
Absolutely our favorite place to eat! Service is always phenomenal, and the food is to die for!
I have died and gone to heaven! Oh my! The best bacon cheeseburger I’ve ever had! For real! (Whole Heritage breed pork belly, smoked in house!)
Loved it! Lamb burger was awesome and new for me to try and the mash was spot on.
Amazing food! Great atmosphere, many draft beer options. Full service bar. Great place, highly recommended.
Excellent food, varied drink selection. If you're a fan of grapefruit, the 44 Salty Dog is a terrific cocktail. The fish and chips are Outstanding! Deviled eggs are very good as well. Didn't find the Welsh rarebit to be what I expected but the flavor was delicious. Great place to have a lovely meal with friends.
I'd heard promising reviews of this restaurant and my wife and I (plus our 3 year old) drove 2+ hours to Columbia to eat here and do some shopping. I was not disappointed! My wife ordered the fish and chips and we agree they definitely have the best fish and chips game in town. I had the lamb burger which tasted great with the pickled onions and yogurt sauce! The fries were perfect. We were thankful for the kids menu options. And the variety / eclectic mix of menu items makes me want to come back to try their Seoul Fries or Curry. I didn't personally like their in house ketchup for the fries but I applaud their efforts in going the extra mile of having it. It was unique and I know a lot of others will like it. Will be worth another road trip when we get the chance!
This place is a decent English pub bar. We had the cheese fritters for an appetizer. I didn't love them nor did I hate them. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken & Leek Pasty and I had the 44 Stone Burger. They were both pretty good.
Seoul Disco Fries were really great. The chicken and leeks pasty had really great flavor & the pastry was nice & flaky. The seasonal Gin Blueberry Mule was the best I've had!
Awesome food! one of the best appetizers ever, in my book. The disco fries are amazing! Great food all around also great drinks.
We loved the food- ploughmans lunch (brilliant array of cheeses and specially made sausage, sauces), fish and chips, green salad. Beautifully prepared. Best fish (haddock) and chips since we’ve been in Midwest (1994). Nice outdoor seating. Pleasant staff. Selection of victuals, outstanding. Highly recommend.
Food was pretty good. I had the Eggs Benedict and the Seoul Disco Fries. The Seoul Disco Fries were really good. The Eggs Benedict could've had a little more flavor added to it, kind of bland to me, especially for the price. Overall, it was good for a brunch! Our waitress was super nice and friendly. Really relaxed pub vibe.
After thoroughly enjoying 44 Canteen, we tried the sister restaurant 44 Stone. Let me lead off by saying that the food was fantastic! I had the sausage (see pic) and my wife had the Lamb Burger. The Colcannon was simply amazing. The only reason there isn't a fifth star here is because when we entered, the hostesses verbally debated amongst themselves "what to do with us". When that was settled and we were seated, my wife and I perused the menus, each went to the restroom, flagged down a hostess to ask where a server might be. The server was very nice and (once again) the food was fantastic. We will definitely visit again.
Hands down one the best steaks I've ever had. Bar makes awesome drinks. European theme menu is absolutely fantastic. Kitchen uses lots of local ingredients. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Really good value. Two of us with two desserts and the bill was under $50. Good atmosphere and service. Food was very fresh and flavorful if just a little too salty for me.
Good food and a good 44 Salty Dog cocktail. Seoul disco fries starter is fantastic!
Roasted Vegetable Curry plate was really good, had more authentic taste to it. Service was really good.
The staff were all very friendly. Looking at the menu they some defferent things and were excited about that. My wife and I ordered something we hadn't tried before. Sorry to say we were both disappointed. If we find ourselves in the area again I think we might give it another try.
The staff at 44 Stone Public House were super friendly. I’m coming back to try the rest of the menu, especially the burgers and the beer for sure. However, the food I had so far was not great. The steak was okay, a little underseasoned. Mashed potatoes were cold, dry and underseasoned as well. Not a fan of the onions on top nor the sauce (don’t remember if this was a sauce for this particular steak but it tasted way too sweet and just did not pair well). The pasty was a little better, although I think the chicken stuffing was - again - underseasoned!
Really dark inside here . Service was very poor . Food was average at best . My sons cheeseburger bun wasnt toasted it was burnt . My burger ordered medium came out well done . Even the homemade chips were overcooked . Maybe the chef having a bad day but not good . All the sandwiches come on pretzel buns . Way too much bread for the sandwiches . I removed the top bun off of my burger.
