Huge servings! If you’re a light eater, plan for leftovers or share a plate. We had smoked meatloaf and catfish dinners. I had the meatloaf and I ended up with the end piece which is never my favorite but that’s where my order fell. It was tasty and monstrous. It come smothered with grilled onions (a lot of them!) and mushroom gravy. I had it without the gravy as I don’t like mushrooms. The included sides were mashed potatoes and gravy, which I paid the upcharge and for the baked Mac & cheese instead and the southern green beans. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Very large serving. The green beans we well seasoned and tasty. The catfish comes from a plentiful order of well seasoned fries. The Mac and cheese was also ordered in lieu of the slaw. The catfish was the biggest piece I have ever seen. No dark spots and very good breading. For dessert, I ordered the cherry cobbler with ice cream. It was quite tasty and was full of cherries. The ice cream scoops were on the small side so I would recommend ordering a 3rd, they were more the size of a melon baller than an ice cream scooper. The service was attentive but slow. Not sure if they were short staffed or if that’s standard. I will be going back as there are multiple other options I want to try.
Great food. Went here on a business meeting and was blown away by the food. Pimento cheese fried chicken club was really good. Chicken was juicy and Pimento cheese was the best I have ever had. Would go again. I haven't been to south in a while after moving away and the sweet tea was great, exactly what I was looking for. Service was great as well. Fast and polite.
Food was excellent. The server was very friendly. We really enjoyed the atmosphere
We were going to another burger 🍔 place, but two kind people recommended Puckett's. This place didn't disappoint. The welcome, the live music 🎶, the service, the food portion (grande), and the taste...muy delicious 😋.
I got chicken fried chicken. It was the best fried chicken I've ever had. And the blackberries tea yes is the answer to that question... only thing is it was $5.59 so be prepared
Puckett’s on the square in Columbia, TN is a wonderful little slice of a bygone era in America. The whole restaurant is designed like an old country store minus all the dust. The menu offers a variety of country cookin’ like Barbecue (pulled pork or chicken), smoked meatloaf, and fried catfish. There are also hamburgers and other sandwiches to delight the pallet. We came in at an off time (about 2:30 in the afternoon) and got seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and got our order quickly. The only downfall was that it took about 30 minutes to get our food. It may be because we didn’t order from the meat and three menu. I ordered the smoked meatloaf and my husband got the white chicken chili (which he said was very spicy, right up his alley). But it arrived hot and delicious and we were very satisfied. I will be going back the next time I visit Columbia.
Plenty of gluten free options and truly fantastic food and environment. Reasonable prices for drinks and food.
If you're looking for some really good southern cuisine and i mean really really good then this is the place you should go . I love southern food and this place has it all and its delicious . Their Chicken fried Chicken tasted so fresh . Everything on the menu is quality controlled , good portioned and fresh . They have their own beer ( brewed locally ) and it's really good . They serve their beer in a mason jar and i like it . The atmosphere inside is nice and calming . The old school rustic signs inside add the charm . The staff is friendly . We will visit again , highly recommended .
I finally got to dine-in here and see what all the hype is about. I think it’s all about timing. It happened to be the only day I’ve seen when there wasn’t a line out the door and the restaurant packed to the gills. Parking in the square is often atrocious but there was a spot open, right near the front. That’s always a win for me, since I’m picky about where I park. We had a reservation for two but I don’t think it was necessary. Our server, Abby knew the menu well and she was on it! The food was delicious, ambiance was cool. The stage looked legit for live performances, with plenty of space for a band. I had the pulled pork nachos and my mom had the southern fried chicken dinner. They have a great beer selection on draft and their cocktails looked yummy too. I’ll definitely be back.
My mom and I ate an early dinner here on a Wednesday night. Food was absolutely delicious as always. My personal favorites are the Piggy Mac and Fried Green beans. Our server was Brian. He was great and attentive. Filled our drinks and got our order put in fast. He was super nice and conversational. Definitely will be back! Thanks Brian. He also gave us extra ranch!! The piggy mac also had so much meat and was a huge serving. Love it!
Our server Brooklyn was the best... the food was good, not spectacular, but I will be going back.
The food is great, fast service and friendly staff. We will be back.
Delicious southern barbecue, chicken fried chicken, Piggy Mac, so good. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always hustling. Limited parking but totally worth a short walk. Eat in or carry out! Live music too.
My meal at Puckett’s was nothing short of incredible! The fried chicken was perfection—four pieces, each one juicy on the inside with a beautifully crisp, golden coating on the outside. Every bite was just packed with flavor. The mashed potatoes smothered in brown gravy were rich and smooth, and the homestyle green beans had that perfect touch of seasoning, cooked to tender perfection. The collard greens added a nice savory kick, rounding out that authentic Southern feel. To top it off, the service was outstanding. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, making great recommendations on both the menu and the beer. They truly knew their stuff, and their warm approach added to the experience. Puckett’s absolutely nailed it—highly recommend for anyone looking for genuine Southern comfort food and excellent service!
Great meal today. The food was fresh and well prepared. The staff was kind and happy to help. We had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and chicken salad sandwich. Good stuff. I'm sure we'll stop by again next time we're in town.
We’ve been to this location about 1/2 dozen times. This was by far the best experience. Food was great, quality, flavor and generous quantity. Two of us ordered the meatloaf with green beans, 1 salad with pulled pork, and a hot chicken sandwich…great job kitchen! The slaw was a bit different in taste. My preferred slaw is: Mayo, a bit of sugar and balsamic dressing for tang, tart and sweet. The orange wheat beer on tap was excellent…can’t remember the maker. Service excelled! She was on it! And the reason why we came this night: the music. We previewed listening to Troy Castellano online/you tube. Really liked his music and voice. He’s super creative! The stories in his lyrics…fantastic voice. All in our party thought he was great! If you get a chance check him out. You could actually hear and understand the words he was singing.
What an amazing stop! We found this by accident. I knew nothing about the history or the food, only searched for a nearby BBQ restaurant. Wow! We found so much more. The decor is incredible. The service was like hanging out with your friends. The food, no comparison! Brisket that is deeply smoked, rich in the essence of the wood, Tender and savory. The pulled pork is unmatched in taste and texture. Then... the sides...holy moly... that's good stuff. If you're within 100 mikes, take the drive. It's worth it. ... yeah, it's that good.
Not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere, service and the food. Loved their sweet potato fries. Our server Kenneth was very nice and fast.
Puckett's grocery and restaurant is a great place for a date or family dinner. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Tennessee. Lots of local and Americana history vibes. Live music is amazing as well. Make sure to stop by. Columbia in general became a really beautiful, inviting and historic town to visit or relocate to. Highly recommend.
From the greeter to the server to the band, all were great! The food was delicious - just what you’d expect for Southern bbq. We’ll be back with our friends in tow.
Food, service and entertainment were all fantastic. Jamie was an awesome server. The Professor and the Bull were funny and stayed in character, even advertising the Puckett's seasonings and sauces for sale old style. We highly recommend to the chicken fried chicken, pulled pork mac and cheese, deep fried brownie, and pecan pie cobbler. In other words, everything we ordered. And buy the sauce!
Following a less than fantastic visit..... Redeemed! One of the best dining experiences that I have had in Columbia. The Service provided by Lou was impeccable. Attentive, and friendly. The food was delicious. Served hot and fast as Lunch should be. Can't wait to return for another visit.
Puckett's has delicious Southern foods! We tried the fried pimento cheese appetizer, and they were delicious. The red peppper jelly is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I had the chicken fried chicken, and it was incredible. The food was so flavorful that I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. We'll definitely be returning to eat here again.
01.06.24 I work 12 hours a day, 5-6 days so when I do find time to get out I'm usually trying to spend it with my daughter. Our quality time always includes eating a good meal together ❤️. My daughter wanted BBQ and we had ordered take out from Puckett's before so I suggested we dine in. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We were greeted by the hostess and the manager. He was very friendly and immediately sat us at our table. Our server, Maggie...! Was a delight from beginning to the very end! She was on top of everything from anticipating refills, to making sure we were content with our meal and sides which were ALSO amazing and stupendous! We both ordered a full tack of ribs with 2 sides, mashed potatoes were delicious and the skillet mac and cheese was fire! Everything was EXCELLENT but the real bonus to our dining experience was without a doubt, Maggie! We will definitely always request for Maggie in our future visits to Puckett's in Columbia, TN! Thank you, Maggie! 😊 2022 The barbecue was tender and delicious and portions were very filling. Nice atmosphere. We had our order to go but ate inside before exploring the town square.
Our first time, and it was so much fun!! The food was great, but the music was next level!!
Had lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We were sat at a high top table and that was ok with me. Service was fast and friendly. I had a redneck burrito which was pulled pork, beans, and slaw wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was well seasoned a very tasty. Our waitress was attentive and kept our drinks full. Value was good and portions perfect. Will eat here again!
We have been here a couple times now as we travel through. Very good food and friendly service. I enjoyed the smoked meatloaf. Mashed potatoes were real. The cheese grits were excellent. Wife meat platter was also well received.
I'll be honest, Puckets actually wasn't our first choice for Valentine's Day but because of the weather. We decided to go somewhere a little closer that we haven't been. We were so surprised! They even gave my special lady a rose. The service and food was GREAT! Only request is I wish they served breakfast all day but no real complaints here! We will be back!
This restaurant has live music but on schedule by Box of Rox band which you can check on their website. You can dance here and have fun! Foods are delicious and price are reasonable! They also serving during thanksgiving which is unlimited.Highly recommend!
I give it a 5 simply because Allison is beyond amazing and my kids absolutely love her. The last few times we’ve been or picked up though the food has not been at its best. The kings French toast is my absolute favorite, however I’ve had to ask the last 3 times for my peanut butter and my bananas to be on there. Which if it wasn’t a different price than regular French toast I wouldn’t care, and the eggs have been undercooked. Overall still our favorite breakfast place, the kitchen staff just needs to pay more attention. Today I orderethe kings French toast for pick up, when I got there I checked since I’ve been having issues, I asked the woman about the banana and peanut butter and she brought it back to the kitchen, they put the bananas on but still not peanut butter. For $12 for French toast and not have the ingredients is insane. I also asked MULTIPLE times when ordering for the fried chicken breast, I stated that I did NOT want the tenders and when I got home not only was this my French toast but I in fact had chicken tenders.
Came at 10am and the staff was so quick and easy to work with. Breakfast was delicious. Puckets never fails
Jasmine did a wonderful job. She kept my coffee cup full and delivered the food while it was still hot. She checked on us multiple times without making a pest of herself. Best service Ive had in some time.
We have made a point of coming to Puckett’s at least once a week since we moved to Columbia. The food is consistently delicious - I love the smoked chicken plate, my husband loves the fried chicken which he says is the best he’s ever had. The service is always great - from the front hosts, to the servers, to the bartenders. Cheyenne in the front helped us add extra seats when we had bonus family show up for a big dinner, and it was greatly appreciated. And Karen is an institution who is always amazing whether at the tables or behind the bar. We also love having Sam as a server. Jimmy holds it all together and loves to chat around with the patrons to make sure things are to their satisfaction. And the quality of the performers is great! Love having this live music in our small(ish) town
We had a fantastic family lunch in a private room. Annie, our server, was the best we’ve ever had—she handled every request quickly and without hesitation. The overall experience was outstanding and will most likely bring us back again next year.
This is one of the more unique Puckett's. Set in the middle of the downtown square, it adds a different feel than the ones that are freestanding. Our waitress was nice, but when she came around, it was hard to catch her in order to get refills. The smoked turkey leg is very good. I highly recommend it. We had five adult meals and two kids meals and it was $121.
I ordered the meatloaf and substitute the sides. They charged me $2.00 each to submit without informing me. So I was charged $19.99 for one piece of meatloaf. I'm changing my review levels because of the efficient of how the manager (Jimmy) handle the response. He apologized and corrected my order. This shows how willing Puckett is to keep their customers and the community happy. Thank you. 😊 I'll add pictures later.
First time at Puckett’s. Server was friendly. Food was mediocre. We got fried green tomatoes which were okay, catfish which was breaded (w flour vs cornmeal) and wasn’t very good, and the appetizer bbq nachos which were probably the best but not anything special. Left feeling bloated. Probably wouldn’t go again.
This was our first time eating here. We loved the decor the atmosphere and the area. We ordered pimento cheese bites for an appetizer with pepper jelly. They were really good. We ordered The Farm to share.... it was a mix of Brisket, Pulled Pork,Chicken and Turkey with 2 sides. The Brisket , Pork and chicken were tender and very good. The smoked turkey was a little dry. For sides we had fried okra, coleslaw and collard greens. The collards were very bitter and they didn't have any apple vinegar in the rest. The okra was meh. Coleslaw ok but not the best. I definitely recommend the Brisket, pulled pork and the chicken for sure. The sides... you may want to try a different one.
This restaurant is located on the square looking out at the courthouse and has an ice cream shop just inside its doors (luckily behind its own door if you don't want your kids to notice it). We went on Memorial Day and had a large party, so we expected a wait, which I think totalled about 20min. We were able to push our baby's stroller up to the table. They also allow leashed dogs on the front patio. At first I wasn't sure about this place - they have no infant changing table in the men's room, and my dad's fish was pathetically small. He actually joked that he should've ordered off the kid's menu, because the kids had great portions. Even my big eater almost 10yr old was happy. But the fish - my husband said they must've needed a tape measurer to make sure it wasn't too small to throw back. I looked up what "cowboy caviar" was and Google said it was beans, corn, and onion, so I ordered a salad plate that was topped with it. You should be aware they make theirs with a very generous portion of fresh cut jalapenos. I can't eat jalapenos because of my severe congenital reflux and IBS. When the waitress came by to ask how the food was, I just said that I hadn't realized the cowboy caviar was made with jalapeno (I had an obvious stack of chopped jalapeno I was picking out). No questions asked, she immediately offered to get me a new salad. She was attentive and sweet, despite the crowd. Excellent service. My oldest daughter said they ruined chicken sandwiches for her, because she's never had one she loved as much as the Nashville hot (the waitress did warn her it was very spicy, but my daughter doesn't have my stomach issues and loves spicy food). It was a big sandwich and she was able to take some home. My husband got the meat plate and also had leftovers. I even had leftover salad. When the bill came, my dad asked if they had a veteran discount. The waitress said they did, and because it was Memorial Day (which was a coincidence), they offered him a great discount. Overall, an excellent experience. Just be aware that their fish is a diet plate. ETA: we went back the week after Christmas, and I have to take off a star for the atrocious service. We didn't mind waiting to be seated, but after we were seated it took a full hour to receive our food, during which time our drinks were refilled only once. It would've been different if this were dinner rush with just me and my husband, but this was lunch and the restaurant was not full. We had my diabetic grandparents in their 80s with us along with our 4 kids, including a baby. By the time we actually got our food my grandmother was about out of energy to eat it - she actually boxed her food and went home for a nap - and the baby was extremely fussy from being stuck in a high chair so long. If it's going to be leisurely dining that should be stated, and consideration should always be given for the very elderly and the very young.
We arrived to a busy lunch half past noon. All the worker bees were busy, after a bit, we were told 10-15 min wait for table. Well y’all it took a tad longer by the time our selections arrived. We were becoming last there! I’m unsure of the best solution to fix as this was first time eating at location. The hostesses were both very nice, and the delicious nachos and chicken salad were what saved the day!
We ordered takeout from this wonderful small-town spot, and while our order originally had a few mistakes, the manager Josh went above and beyond to make things right. They were quick to fix everything, very apologetic, and handled the situation with genuine care. Mistakes happen anywhere, but the way they treated us really showed the kind of business they are. The food we did get to enjoy was delicious, and we can’t wait to go back and try it again. A great local place worth supporting! Thank you Josh for being very understanding.
Ok, but not great. We loved the atmosphere. The appetizer of fried green beans was excellent! The meatloaf with mushroom gravy could have been great also, but it had a very sweet taste like a lot of sugar had been added. This made it taste like a meatloaf dessert rather than an entree. The green beans were bland and the mashed potatoes were not hot, barely warm, so after a couple of bites they were cold. The corn cakes were not what I expected either, they were like a pancake and did not have the texture of fried cornmeal. No crisp whatsoever. The service was also a bit slow, I think they may have been assigned too many tables? If it were not for the decor and dining with friends I would have rated this a two star ⭐ experience. Will not try this Puckett's location again, though I may try another location as I feel they have potential.
We decided to try Puckett's on a whim while out for a drive on a Sunday afternoon. It was mid afternoon so not very busy. The staff were exceptional! We felt right at home the moment we walked in the door. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. The dipping sauce was perfect! The pickles were beautifully cooked and a wonderful crisp batter...but the batter was very bland and that disappointed me. Next we ordered 2 burgers and they arrived perfectly cooked and looked beautiful. But the flavor just wasn't there. Again, it was as if there was no seasoning, not even salt and pepper. The thing I could taste the most on my burger was my tomato and that should be an accompaniment, not the main flavor of a burger. We had fries with our burgers and they were seasoned, and seasoned nicely. We will go back again at some point and order something else from the menu and see if we like it better. Maybe it was an off day for the cook, I don't know. However, we loved the atmosphere and the staff were fantastic. It was an enjoyable visit, just a little lack luster on the food for the price.
Great place for the family, food isn’t the most flavorful but the atmosphere makes up for it! Almost always has live bands, extremely friendly staff. Tables are always cleaned very family friendly
Way to salty, slow service, food served lukewarm to cool, not hot. Sent the greens back. Someone dumped a whole box of salt into it. Noisy and not because it was crowded. I only went because my daughter said they had good greens. I ordered the pot roast. It was more rice than meat potatoes and carrots. Also, oversalted. I did take home strained off the broth, washed the veggies, and made egg fried rice. Anyway, I won't be going back.
Service wasn't bad, but we waited a long time for refills. The food wasn't hot and kind of average. The music was good but way too loud to enjoy a regular dinner.
Went there on Thanksgiving expecting a good home style meal-for $34.99 each. Instead got lukewarm to cold small scoops of sides that were terrible, worst green bean casserole ever. They replaced it with the SAME THING-lukewarm. Didn’t want gravy but got it anyway. I assume everyone else had the same experience but ate anyway-asked a couple how theirs was-said it was lukewarm. I would expect this experience at $15.00 a plate but not $34.99. Thought they might comp us but didn’t-they would have to comp everyone!
Had the Thanksgiving meal that was not worth the money, the food did not taste good and was lukewarm. We sent the food back and it came out not much better. They also couldn’t get our order correct, dessert was not good either. Not planning on going back again, it was disappointing.
Just had a 35 dollar a plate lukewarm thanksgiving dinner there! After the second time they tried to bring out hot food we gave up. Spoke with another dinner and they said theirs was lukewarm also. Should have adjusted the bill for cold food..sometimes sorry isn’t enough…not at $35 a plate…..put some water in the steam table and turn it up!
In short, do not choose this establishment on a Thursday afternoon for a birthday dinner! After calling and reserving for a party of 16 to celebrate a birthday they said “no problem”. Upon arrival they sat us at two tables and wouldn’t combine the two for us all to be together. 15 mins after waiting for the waitress to come back to take our drink order then another 15 to take our order. After finally receiving and consuming our food, we requested Togo plates that were brought promptly. It took another 30 minutes , half of our party leaving before we received our wrong tickets. The waitress did not acknowledge us as we were ordering that there would be 4 separate tickets and identifying who would be on each ticket twice while ordering she still didn’t separate the orders correctly. All tickets were incorrect. She went away and another 20 minutes goes by and she returns o lg to say the manager has to split. After retrieving the manager receipts were “corrected” and everyone else could leave. The food was subpar. Manager was polite. Waitress nice and undertrained or overwhelmed with large parties. Unfortunately this is the second encounter with the restaurant this week that service and food were lacking.
