This was my first time in Commerce, Tx. We were just passing threw from a long trip outta Texas. Our waitress was Blanca. Big shout out to her! She was fantastic. She made sure we felt welcomed. She was quick to put our order in. I can go on and on but, to make things short, she made sure everything was clean in the dining area and made sure we were happy at the same time. My cousin even said "It's good to be back in Texas". If your passing threw it's worth a stop in.
Great food. Didn’t have to send my steak back. Appetizers were perfect. Extremely friendly waiter. Checked on us plenty. Amazing sweet tea. Would recommend to anyone!
Good food and atmosphere. A nice place to meet family for lunch. Service was exceptional. Thank you for the hometown country experience.
They serve you good! I have had the bread rolls with cinnamon butter, chips and salsa, and the fried pickles.Their strawberry lemonade was delicious, and it had a real strawberry taste. Delicious jalapeño margaritas too. Their house salad with the raspberry vinaigrette is also a good choice, and I also recommend the cajun pasta. My favorite dish I have had here was the Chicken Fried Pork Chop, but there steak with shrimp is close too. Big portions and a happy stomach.
Best steak I've had in a long time so tender cooked just right
Love this place. Lots of good to choose from so it's hard to decide. I try to pick something different every time we come here. Want to try everything on the menu.
Locally owned community favorite. Wide selection of excellent pizzas and supervising chef's takes on Southern Cuisine staples. Friendly and attentive wait staff, some of whom have been serving here for years.
This is the best home cooking I've had in a long time. I've been trying different foods each week, and we go weekly, to try and find something I don't like.... hasn't happened. Every dish is tasty and satisfying. The servers are kind and friendly and the food is amazing!
Staff was polite and friendly. Very welcoming environment. Menu is very versatile. We had the smoked ribs and chicken and waffles. Both were amazing. Prices are fair. Would definitely come back.
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here! We visited after church on a Sunday and we're surprised by how large and diverse the menu was. To be honest it made me a little bit nervous because in the past restaurants who try to do too much tend to be mediocre at everything instead of really good at a few things. I was happy to be proven wrong as everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We started off with an appetizer sampler that included baked artichoke spinach dip with chips, mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce quesadillas and hot wings. I ordered the glazed salmon with loaded mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My husband ordered the meatloaf with the broccoli cheese rice and my son ordered a small personal Pizza with macaroni and cheese on the side. Literally every single item was fantastic! My husband has very high standards for his meatloaf and they are not often met but lone Star grill definitely achieved that! I've had salmon at several different restaurants but this was among the top of my experiences. My favorite was definitely the spinach artichoke dip but make sure you swing by here and try a little bit of everything like we did you won't be disappointed!!! 😋😋😋
I have always been partial to a good chicken fried steak and probably one of, if not the best I have enjoyed is at Lone Star. Unfortunately, they are 1 1/2 hours from my usual location so I only get to come here once in a great while
The food was delicious. I got a chicken salad. Juicy chicken, crisp lettuce, crunchy carrots. And they had Honey Mustard dressing. Ryan had the barbeque bacon cheese burger. I had to steal a bite. The burger was plump and saucy, all over his beard. Our waitress was great. She kept our glasses full, and let us have our date. Tye atmosphere was very cozy and southern. We had a great experience.
The worst thing about this restaurant is figuring out what you want to eat. It offers a diverse menu designed to accomodate the pickiest eaters. Our table ordered several different option and were pleased with all of them. The Chicken Fried Steak sandwich was perfect -- loved it. Fried catfish were very well seasoned and tasty. Our childrens plates were plenty with good choices for our girls. Service was very good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Love the variety, the buffet & the service is always great!
Just by the photos I know the food was going to be good but what really struck me was the hospitality! It wasn’t busy when we came in and Trinity took my Togo order over the phone and was so kind. She made sure my food came out efficiently even though the food itself took 50min to come out of the kitchen she personally made my trip from Arlington to my grandmas house that much smoother of a trip just by her kindness. My grandma got to have her favorite restaurant on Mother’s Day! Thanks, Trinity!
I love the pizza. My favorite pizza is the works with Alfredo sauce! I have had several different entrées and was very good.
Ordered a full rack of ribs and they were fall-off-the-bone tender. Tasted amazing and afterwards a dish truck, 2 waitresses and the manager came over to ask us about our experience. New management knows what they're doing!
We had a great waitress . She keep our drinks full and was checking on us . The Manger Kenneth was great . He came by talk for a little while so nice !! He was talking to alot of customers . If you want great service and great food check this place out .. Highly recommend this place !!!!!!
Short waits, good food at good prices, and a friendly family atmosphere. We've been regulars at Lone Star for years, and have yet to be disappointed. Always well worth the visit.
They accommodated our large group with little notice. The food was awesome! I tried things from other people's plates and was surprised to see that everything was really good. They have a large menu and managed to deliver flavor to every item. My wife's steak came out overcooked, but they fixed it fast and it was PERFECT the second time around. Service was as exceptional as the food. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular. Price was very fair also.
Best experience here!! Had a HUGE baked potato, hubby had the pizza. Both were beyond expectations. Brought home burgers for the kids and both earned rave reviews, even after the 40 minute drive home. We will be back!
Very solid food all around except the nachos. I wouldn't advise getting nachos but everything else is very good especially considering how big the menu is. The kitchen staff definitely is on top of everything back there. Every server i have had is always sweet and attentive.
Good food... Best restaurant in Commerce. A big hit is the lunch buffet. Ordering from the menu at lunch time can mean a long wait, but worth it. Steaks are superb.
My pork chop was done very well, hot and moist. And the baked beans were so tasty. A nice mixture of sweet and spicy.
Passing Commerce, TX, we stop by and had the best Chicken Fried Steak. Very nice server. Will definitely stop by again
Do not go here unless you love great service, huge helpings, and a family atmosphere. It is fantastic.
We celebrated my son's birthday. Good was good and our waitress was great!
Hands down the BEST salads in Commerce.. I think we have tried just about everything on the menu over the years. Their pizza is great too!
If you’re ever passing through Commerce check out this place! The food variety is amazing from the pizza to the fajitas to the chicken fried steak it will more than satisfy the tastebuds. The lunch buffet has it all!
We love Lone Star and tonight our to go order was cooked to perfection. Hamburger steak and flat iron steak cooked as ordered and so tasty.
I love the buffet! Ken does a fabulous job making sure you have fresh, delicious food. Love their pizza.
Quite a gem tucked away near my hotel. Country fried steak is my go-to and I was not disappointed. Portions were amazing. The staff were courteous and attentive. Definitely worth stopping in. P S. Happy hour deals are pretty sweet too.
Lonestar Eatery grill and bar has been the most fantastic restaurant me and my wife have been to yet and we are from Fort worth . The food was amazing especially the catfish and pizza it was cooked to perfection and the service was amazing we definitely will be back on our next vacation venture here !!!!
Great service. We were seated immediately. Bailey was an attentive and efficient waitress. The food was outstanding! Large portions. Cinnamon butter and rolls fresh and delicious. Meals are reasonably priced.
The food was absolutely amazing! The portion size did not disappoint, the taste was great! Our server was friendly and fast. The order was accurate. I love the relaxed atmosphere with sports on in the bar. If I ever get back to Commerce, I will definitely visit the restaurant again. I know that this place is my favorite in town!
Everything about this place is amazing. Staff was friendly and attentive. Everything we put in our mouths was absolutely amazing. Foodgasm amazing. Hairs standing on the back of your neck amazing. The plank salmon was perfection (the foodgasm). Brocolli was tender. Cole slaw (you know in the south this needs to be right) moist, but not wet. Perfectly crispy. Sauted mushrooms were sit back and close your eyes good. The chicken fried steak was perfection. The okra had just the right crunch and texture. Tender with a nice crust. Not so crunchy that the crust fell off when you stab it with the fork. Even the sweet tea is perfection. We had no need to add salt, pepper, or anything to any of it. Will definitely be eating here again. We are not even from this town. We were just passing through. We will make a point to come here on purpose in the future.
Honestly service was “decent” until the owner came out. He is truly a champion and an awesome business owner. The Calzone was awesome and if you get it with a side of marinara it amplifies the taste. 10/10 we’ve been coming here for a while and this was the best time to date. Thanks Mr mgr
Lone Star Eatery in Commerce, Texas is an absolute gem! Located just off the highway, it's the first restaurant you'll see and it's worth a visit. The parking lot was packed, and the restaurant was bustling with activity. Our group started with a round of frozen margaritas, which were delicious and came in a wide variety of flavors. The blue raspberry and mango margaritas were particularly outstanding. We then ordered the Texas cheese fries, which were crispy, double-fried fries topped with cheese and bacon, served with a side of ranch. They were the perfect appetizer to get our taste buds going. To our delight, the server brought out a plate of honey rolls with cinnamon butter, which were better than any we've had at other restaurants. For my main course, I ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy, mac and cheese, and loaded mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was huge and cooked to perfection, with a crispy and flaky breading. The sides were equally impressive, with the mac and cheese and loaded mashed potatoes being standout dishes. One of my friends got the gigantic baked potato with brisket and barbecue sauce, and they said it was pretty good. We also noticed a buffet set up in the rear of the restaurant, which the server informed us was available daily until 2 PM. Although we were stuffed after our main courses, we couldn't resist checking out the dessert options. Lone Star Eatery offers an array of choices, including chocolate chip pizza, apple pie, cheesecake, chocolate meltdown (brownie), and cinnamon bread. I wanted to try the cinnamon bread, but I was too full to order it. Overall, Lone Star Eatery is a must-visit for anyone passing through Commerce. From the delicious food to the friendly service, it's clear that the staff take pride in providing a memorable dining experience. Don't miss out on the blue raspberry margarita, the chicken fried steak, and those amazing honey rolls!
Was packed for lunch on Tuesday. The chicken fried steak is really great. Had mine with the mashed red potatoes and steamed broccoli with garlic butter on it. Waiter was good till the end and he forgot about us and had to wait for ck. Recommend eating here.
Great food, Great options but the waitress seemed like she was on something. She didn't bring the rolls or appetizers until we were almost through our meal, we had to ask for silverware and drink refills she never asked if things were okay if we needed anything. She might consider a different job.
Good food, generous portions. Our waitress must have been new to the job. It took a long time to get our beverages. We ordered curly fries but they didn't come until we were about to leave! The charge was taken off the bill with no problem...the bill came before the fries! My 68 year old husband was carded!! Still..the atmosphere is pleasant, the food is good. Oh yes...if you are a bit on the heavy side their booths are extremely tight!
Service for curbside was really good. Mozzarella sticks basically had no flavor but marinara was good. Chicken fried chicken was good. Breading has a smoky flavor, maybe smoked paprika or something. Corn was cooked perfectly. Brocolli and rice was not horrible but not good. It had a off putting and processed flavor and could stand for some texture like breadcrumbs on top. Cheesecake is a must have. It was amazing!!!
The menu is huge. They have just about anything you want to eat. I got fish tacos and they were maybe the best I have had. My husband got catfish and shrimp. Our friends all had burgers and enjoyed them. If we come back to Commerce we will eat here
So, as you can see from my other reviews, I usually will visit a restaurant 3 times and order the same thing before I make a review. 3 times, I have ordered the chicken fried steak. The main meal: I am disappointed. The breading never was stuck to the steak. It always falls off and you end up with a plate of fried breading. And the breading is always wider than the steak by at least 1/8". The meat without the breading is not as tasty. The sides: The french fries were generally good. The only issue I ever had was on June 6. 3 of the fries on my plate were actually uncooked and refrigerator cold. Don't know if you've ever bit into a cold fry, but I got lucky and felt the cold before biting into it. They have new sides which are quite good. Except for the Spanish rice. Not sure how they screwed that up. I do not recommend the chicken fried steak. Update: I've been eating there fairly often. The food has improved quite a bit. Still have occasional problems with the breading on the CFS, but its a lot better.
Lone Star has always had a little bit of everything for everyone. The bar is always busy, and the family dining is good. The large baked potatoes with toppings are always a hit, but I enjoy their chicken fried steak for a bit of comfort food. Food can take a while to get to your table, but appetizers are always good. Service is almost always friendly.
Great small town experience. Excellent service
First time eating here and it was good. The service was good as well. It had a nice, calm atmosphere.
I would say no skimping on the cheese of the cheese and bacon fries. Also waitress had so many tables that she could not keep up. Bar tender was in the phone and my boyfriend had to go get the beers we ordered. The atmosphere is always good. Friendly folks.
We were driving through Commerce, Texas and saw the restaurant from the street. We thought we would take a chance and eat there since we were both hungry. Our waitor was extremely polite and very friendly and gave us fantastic service. I ordered a burger and fries which were both excellent. My husband ordered the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes along with broccoli and rice. He thought they were great as well. We will definitely go back the next time we are traveling back through.
Great place to snag a variety of amazing food. LSE employees will answer the phone and take orders. Food was outstanding, everything we ordered was prepared fresh and was seasoned to perfection. Employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Called in a curbside order that we ended up having to go inside and pick up due the amount of business volume at that time. Our order was 95% correct, one of the items ordered was a double meat burger that ended up a single. Total experience is a 👍👍 and ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Make sure to always check your order before you leave. This is a good place to get your grub on.
Waited for 30 minutes for our food then my potatoes was cold we were the only ones in the restaurant. When I ask what was taking our food so long?I was told the cook's in the back. Were trying new items.
Menu is overwhelming and food is meh. If they focused on one type of food, maybe they could be excellent. Kids liked their meals. Steak flatbread was a bit too greasy. BBQ was ok- grilled chicken was the best thing eaten. Chips and queso was just ok. Waitress was busy and let tea glasses go empty with no refills. She didn’t offer our table of 7 any rolls, we had to ask for straws and napkins. Food could be better and service could be better. Will not stop here on our visit to Commerce.
They try to do too much. It's not a steak house, not an Italian restaurant... The name says it all its an eatery. To be fair, the food was fine. But service was slow. Kitchen can't possibly handle their menu very well. Too much. Be a catfish house, A steak house, be something.
This restaurant is very convenient and has a great location. The atmosphere is very good and the menu had a wide selection of choices. The food ended up tasting really good and I would recommend this restaurant to anybody in the area. Our waitress was the only reason why I did not give this 5 stars and it seemed like the wait staff was inattentive. Would have been five stars otherwise.
Stopped in on a Saturday night around 8 pm or so. Not crowded at all but waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. A bit of a wait for our food. The dining room was a wreck with food and crumbs all over the floor. Watched the waitstaff deliver several trays of food to the wrong tables. Ours included. We had to flag down the girl delivering our food to another table because our server was busy at another empty table counting her tips. Seems there was a lack of communication with the waitstaff. Food was okay. I wouldn’t say it was great but it wasn’t bad either. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with Mayo and got a bacon burger with no cheese or Mayo but it was fine. The rest of our orders were correct and looked good. No complaints.
I'm only giving three stars because it's hit or miss with the food. Yesterday was excellent. The time before that was disappointing. Now, they have quite an extensive menu so there is something for everyone's tastes. I am certainly not saying don't go... just that I wish they were more consistent.
The atmosphere was great and so was the food. We were seated and 15 minutes later, we were still waiting to order. Thankfully, we were not in a rush. I had to ask 3 different servers before someone finally came to take our order. The lady who served us was sweet and attentive, but our food was slow out of the kitchen as well. Was going through Commerce heading to Hocatown for vacation with my family and we will probably not be going back. In a nut shell, the atmosphere and food were good, but the service was disappointing
We were visiting the area and this was the place my 12yo chose for lunch. It was a little after 2pm on a Saturday, not many patrons. The staff was very polite and friendly. That being said, service was very slow. I ordered cedar plank salmon and it was a bit bland for my taste. My 12yo enjoyed her burger bites, and her friend enjoyed her grilled cheese. They said the fries were good. Husband was disappointed with the wings. We will likely seek another restaurant next time we are in commerce.
My daughter & I popped in for a late lunch recently and found the place clean and cheery and the staff was friendly. We were served promptly, after choosing the cheezy fries, yummy. They were served hot and tasty, along with a ranch sauce on the side. I was dying for a fresh salad. The chicken was fresh, not frozen but little tough. And hard to find! The strawberries were very fresh and the pecans were plentiful. I didn't care too much for the dressing that came with it, I preferred the ranch. But most disappointing was the salmon my daughter ordered. She commented a couple of times that it was so salty, but we were very engaged in our conversation about a house we had just looked at, that she didn't mention it to the server when she checked on us. I finally asked for a taste, since I knew I'd be reviewing that entire meal and I had to spit it out! It was as if someone had taken the top off the salt shaker! My daughter said 'I told you' but she didn't want to complain because she had eaten more than half of it. I tasted the bowl of something that was unrecognizable and it was edible. I skipped the veggies after watching her eating what looked like sliced onions and not much else. I did tell the server that I thought she should know that the salmon was a disaster. She apologized and I told her it wasn't her fault but it's important to let the cooks know! Better luck next time...
I used to love coming here. They changed their menu and it was ok. The issues was their margaritas are about 3 oz. So small for 5 bucks. I had to order a double to taste anything in the 2nd margarita and it was the same size. It honestly tasted like no alcohol in the doubled I order. Then our food was wrong. Both of ours. The hubby called and said "she didnt write down four peoples orders." It was a bad service experance. For an almost $100 meal we should of at least gotten our food correctly
The service was the worst part about tonight. My waitress was rude. She got my order wrong twice she also brought me the wrong drink and another waitress had to correct her. My boyfriend had already been done with his food about 15 minutes after I got mine. Lastly, her hair touched my boyfriend’s food.
I placed a Togo order for fried Zucchini and lunch fajitas. The fried zucchini wasn’t done all the way and the breading didn’t even cover it fully, tasted soggy. As for the fajitas the veggies were good but chicken and steak was very dried out. Also the fajitas didn’t come with rice and beans.
Ordered a club sandwich which came 20 minutes after 3 other orders at our table. Had to wait on drinks for some reason. Club sandwich was 2 slices of bread, ton of bacon, some ham, and a slice of thin turkey meat, a bit of lettuce, tomatoes and I thin it may have had a bit of cheese...not sure as there was very little. In side the 2 slices of bread. More like a BLT than any club I've ever ordered. Had to get mine to go as others at table were finished. Their food was too salty. Sorry, not a good experience.
The food was good, but that was the only positive. The portions were way bigger than expected (yay leftovers!), but they were also more expensive than I expected. The service was terrible. Our waitress was rude and treated us poorly. We were our normal polite selves and she was just awful and we had to wait and wait and wait for her because she was never around (let it be known that the restaurant was NOT busy at all, maybe 20 people in the whole place). Music was blaring, and we could barely hear each other talk. Will not be going back, ever.
We waited and watched the workers just walk by like we were not there. It was not busy at all. The grease and sticky stuff was on everything on and around the booth, touch anything, nasty wash hands. The food was not as said on the menu. I found it not eatable. Very disappointing. The fry were cooked in stale oil. Service was slow and not welcoming. We will not be back.
I came from out of town to take my mother-in-law to a birthday dinner; this restaurant was her choice. I will not be coming back !! We arrived to eat IN-BETWEEN the lunch & dinner rush; so they weren't busy at all : yet it took 20 minutes to get our food to be brought out.... My plate was WAY....WAY OVER SALTED !!!😵😵 IT WAS NOT EDIBLE !!!! I asked the bartender to please see if I could PLEASE GET IT RE-MADE WITHOUT ANY SALT ...... I BELIEVE THAT THEY WASHED IT OFF & DRAINED IT & SENT IT BACK AS IS..... WITH ONLY HALF THE SALT WASHED OFF.... C R A P !!! 🤢🤢🤬🤬 I PICKED OUT SOME OF THE SQUASH PIECES PUT THEM IN MY PAPER NAPKIN...... rolling it around whipping off as much SALTY LIQUID AS POSSIBLE ...... TRYING TO MAKE it more EDIBLE..... IT WAS STILL OVER THE TOP SALTY..... SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE..... Maybe SOME PEOPLE LIKE THAT MUCH SALT...... BUT IN MY OPINION,..... IT WAS ENOUGH SALT TO TRIGGER A CORONARY EVENT !!!🤔😡🧂🧂🧂 I DON'T EVEN THINK THAT the restaurant workers care that they could KILL OFF THEIR PATRON'S .....
The quality of the food isn't that great... Last time I was there, I ordered the Calzone. They used a pre-purchased pizza crust on the bottom and added another pre-purchased pizza crust on the top. It was terrible! Today, thought I'd give them a second chance and ordered the BBQ Cheddar Bacon Burger & Onion Rings. The burger was over cooked and they used bacon bits vs. real bacon. The onion rings didn't have any flavor, so both were a failure. We did enjoy the fried Zucchini that we ordered as an appetizer.
Several TVs and radio playing was annoying. Ordered a pizza; crust was bland. Had to get up and find an employee to get a carry out box. Had to get up again and find server to get my ticket. He was busy playing games on his phone. 2 people-check was $37. Did not tip
Cold food on lunch buffet. Out of beer on a Friday. Mixed drinks were light at best. Our pink haired server was off talking to friends instead of taking care of costumers. I would not recommend unless whataburger next door is closed.
Ordered pizza and boneless wings on-line, order was supposed to be ready at 4pm. Got there at 5 til 4pm, and had to wait until 4:25pm to get food. It was all cold and they forgot the ranch dressing for the wings. They just seem to not have their shit together!!! If this is how they are going to be from now on, I can not recommend them to anyone!
Dining room extremely loud Food was adequate Wait staff was there Food was adequate quality Fajita were pre cooked and dropped on the plate for service. The beef was cool and overcooked Fortunately their salsa added some flavor
My wife and I have been eating here off and on for 10 years. We ordered takeout tonight and out of 3 entrees, none were correct. The wait was also interminable. I put more thought and effort into picking out a pair of pants and putting them on than Lone Star does in preparing a meal and boxing it up.
First time - last time. Waited 45 minutes for our food... Unacceptable! The food arrived lukewarm...we saw many patrons sitting waiting for their food also...and saw a young couple finally get up and leave. My sister tried the BBQ brisket and ribs...the ribs were sold out...the brisket wasn't true BBQ, but oven baked and sliced sitting in a bowl of aus juice liquid... The waitress spilled BBQ sauce on the table while serving and it splattered my sister... I had to ask her to get a wet cloth to clean the table (common sense should have told her to do that). My brother had the fried fish with tarter sauce... The tarter sauce came in packets instead of freshly made... The potato salad and coleslaw tasted store bought, not home-made. Overall it was a very poor experience and we will not be back.
The family and I decided to stop and eat after a 4 hour drive. Waited for 45 minutes and never even had a drink order taken. The server said it would be just a min and we were waiting patiently, but then they sat a party of 12 next to us and began taking their orders immediately. Shouldn’t have wasted our time!
Honestly people like this ? Is horrendous the only good thing was the stars game on the restaurant service was one of the most horrible I seen in a long time we come from Dallas and we decided to come here and have dinner worse decision Don't Come Here unless you expect simple food I could make a better burger at home burger was 14$ and was Cold fries were cold server didn't check on us 1 time after we got our food we didn't get a refill the entire time we were there server was a Girl with curly hair Was On Her (PHONE) Everytime she could my wife literally had to scream at her to get her attention to get our check . DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE THERE'S BETTER PLACES PROBABLY AROUND THIS LONELY TOWN ONLY PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE LIKE THIS PLACE PROBABLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER . I FEEL BAD FOR THE COLLEGE PROMOTING THIS RESTAURANT THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED.........
Worst food and service. Chicken Alfredo past was mushy and tastes and smelled like dirty dishwater. Restaurant had very few tables and took over 30 mins to get our food.
This place needs to figure out if they are being racist or if they are genuine i’ve watched five people sitting at the bar having 4 to 5 drinks within the hour and they are discriminating and being racist.
I will not even rate the food. Chicken fried chicken had hunks of fat in it I spit it out. Microwave corn on the cob(rubber) Get a calzone ate one bite and no more. $39.00 cause we ordered every topping. It's was horrible. My first time and will never be back. Spent almost $150.00 ticket we was visiting family and they said they eat there and was the worst experience they had.
I came in hungry enough to eat a horse, left hungry enough to become one and gallop away in shame. First off, the decor looks like Texas sneezed and no one cleaned it up—wagon wheels on the wall, a stuffed armadillo wearing a cowboy hat (I think he was judging me), and country music that sounded like it was playing from the bottom of a boot. Ordered the “Big Tex BBQ Platter”—they brought me three sad slices of brisket that looked like they lost a fight with a microwave, a scoop of mashed potatoes with the consistency of drywall paste, and beans that tasted like betrayal. Service? I’ve seen tumbleweeds move with more urgency. My server disappeared for so long I considered filing a missing persons report. When she did show back up, she handed me the check like I had wronged her. If you’re looking for authentic Texas flavor, go literally anywhere else. If you’re looking for a surreal experience that’ll make you question your life choices, congrats—you’ve found your new pilgrimage site. I’d give zero stars, but I respect the armadillo.
My family and I drove for an hour to support this establishment, as we usually do. It holds nostalgia for my husband and our relationship dating back a decade ago. However, our experience this time has dissuaded us from ever returning. My youngest son ordered their catfish basket. 6 hours and a doctor’s visit later, it was confirmed that my child had food poisoning (suspected salmonella). My child is still recovering. Additionally, our waitress was scatterbrained that day, forgetting basic necessities and requests (I.e. plates, tartar sauce, etc.). We can overlook the waitress’ actions. We can’t overlook the food poisoning.
Completely jacked up an order of street tacos with no meat decided to charge us for the steak which was two bucks and another four dollars for guacamole. Margarita was completely full of ice. That was another five bucks. Overpriced and trash Did I mention it was my girlfriend‘s birthday and it was her meal? Oh yea also vegan. Asked to have them remove the charge with the meat, still sitting on the table and was argued with by the crummy waitress that I had to actually go up to the counter to pay for. Would not recommend!!!
Ordered two burgers to go. For one burger meal we requested onion rings in the place of fries yet still received fries. No big deal. Requests can be overlooked at times however requesting the facility to not be disgusting when you walk in and the food to be made as advertised does not seem too tall of an order to fulfil. After being told "5-10 more minutes" I waited 10 minutes and was then told the same thing again. Waited another 10 minutes and was then told once again, "5-10 minutes." After about "5-10" more minutes I was told "2-5" more minutes and I would receive extra bacon on my burger for the wait. My burger had one strip of bacon and 3 jalapenos. Yes, the jalapenos were supposed to be there but one strip of bacon is extra? I don't normally write reviews like this was the last time I'll spend money here for food prepared so slowly (while the cooks play games on their phones apparently waiting for something to assemble itself) in such a disgusting kitchen. I really did like this place at one point. I'll post the picture of my burger. The disgusting and unsanitary things I saw in the kitchen will be kept to myself. Wouldn't want someone to read this while eating there. Guess if you order it to-go they figure you'll be too far down the road before you notice how poorly a job they've done.
Food is sub par and costs WAY more than it should, example that lunch buffet is a RIP OFF! Also got to meet the owner, the laziest owner I've ever met, no wonder the restaurant is horrible, only reason it does well is bc there are only like 5 restaurants in town!
