Amazing staff first of all. Well priced dishes. Good options, they can always customize if you ask. Nice level of spices, very less oily food. They have been very consistent on their Quaility and Taste. Strongly recommend this place. Do try Chai at the end.

One of the best restaurants in the East Bay and certainly a welcome and needed addition to downtown Concord. The way they season each dish is perfect. The service is friendly and gracious, but not overly solicitous (I really appreciate NOT being asked "does everything taste wonderful?"...that annoys me about so many restaurants these days.) The prices are incredible. We were five for dinner this evening (ten items) and the tab was only $65! I thought they had undercharged us, so we went back to make sure we had paid enough. Sure enough, the total was accurate. I can't praise this place enough. We are bay area natives now living in the culinary desert of State College, PA, so we love coming to Anarkali whenever we are visiting the bay area.

I am regular here and of South Asian descent. I can claim to be a visitor of many many Pakistani restaurants across the country, and can say that of all them, this is about the closest to home cooking as it can get. I have tried practically everything and except for an item here and there that I don’t eat to begin with or the occasional different recipe for cooking, I have never been disappointed. Never.

Enjoyed my food immensely. Delicious and we will definitely be back. I didn’t get any photos of my food because I was so hungry. This was my first meal of the day. I forgot to take videos and photos. Next time.

Good food at great prices. Service is excellent. Lots of parking space. Have been ordering from this place since it openend. The quality has remaned the same. The achari chicken and the baigan bharta are a must. The chicken biryani is a favorite too.

One of the best desi restaurants I have been too. We were visiting from out of town and tried this place. Food is so authentic, and well priced. We tried a bunch of things from the menu and each one impressed us. It was just delicious!

I love everything abiut this family runned restaurant. On my 1st visit, I ordered Garlic Naan and Tikki Masala Sause with rice, as I'm not a real meat eater. I must say that my food was delicious. What I also enjoyed was the complimentary hot tea that was made available in the dining room. My 2nd visit was a week later and again order the Garlic Naan but this time adding Curry Shrimp and Tikki Masala Shrimp. Everything was delicous but its something about the Masala sauce that I love the most. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed. I really appreciated the owner recognizing me on my 2nd visit and asking me if the spice level was okay.

Let’s start with the name. Anarkali is the Urdu word for pomegranate blossom. It is also the name of a dancing girl, the lover of Prince Salim. She was Akbar’s favorite dancing girl and there is a tomb of her in Lahore, Pakistan. More importantly (for me) it is the name of one of my favorite places on the planet, Anarkali Bazaar, in Lahore. I spent endless hours there in my youth. If I could transplant myself for one day right now, it would be Anarkali Bazaar. The food of Lahore is unique. Yes, it is Punjabi, but with it’s own flare. The owner and the chef are both from Lahore and when they heard that I had lived there, they lit up. First the kabob. It was the best I have had for a long time. The goat curry, tadka dal and chicken vindaloo were perfect. The naans and tandoori rotis were just the way I love them. When I look at an Indian menu to compare cost and value, I usually look first to see how much they charge for the breads. Most places charge $2.00 to $2.50 for a plain naan or tandoori roti. (Most places don't even make tandoori roti any more.) It bugs me that they charge that much unless it’s a very fancy place with high overhead. Anarkali breads (plain but buttered) $1.00! And…perfectly cooked just soft on the edge but slightly charred. I’ve been to nearly every Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the bay area and this is my new favorite.

I know my Indian food. I don't go anywhere else since I found this place few years back. The food is close to 100% authentic Pakistani cuisine. The owner is a very honest person, who makes sure the food is prepared in clean kitchen, fresh ingredients and the customers are served politely.

I LOVE this restaurant! The good is delicious, and I even ask them to make it extra spicy for me. The owner/manager recognizes us every time we come and he knows my order without me saying a word. Service is great! Very friendly. This week as a little slower than usual, but it was also busier than usual. And prices are reasonable.

This is my go-to for Pakistani food in Walnut Creek. They make aloo palak, rather than palak paneer, which isn't super common. And it's AMAZING. All their kabobs and tandoori chicken, etc, are pretty good. It's consistent and reliable and I consequently order regularly!

Food is so fresh and flavorful! Definitely has a spicy kick to it so if you can't handle some spice I'd stay away. Not the biggest fan of spicy food myself but the food was so delicious I couldn't help but go back for another bite! Portion sizes were pretty big as well! We ordered a bit too much but hey that just means more food for later 😍

Here the flavor and quality are both very good. This family provides exotic dishes with a spice blend which is different from the chain Indian take-out down the street. The prices are very reasonable. We had the lamb kabob and the lamb curry. Another had the Chicken Saffrani Biryani. All were moderately spicy, not over the top. We also had the mango lassi which is also a tasty, refreshing mango-yoghurt drink. I reccomend Anarkali to everyone who enjoys Pakistani/Indian food.

Love, love, love this place! My family orders or goes here anytime we are craving Indian. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. It’s seriously a hidden gem. My only critique would be is they need to maintain the cleanliness of the front of house a little bit better. I’ve noticed dirty tables lingering a bit longer than they should. Other than that- fantastic.

Whether you're a fan of rich, buttery Chicken Karahi, aromatic Lamb Biryani, or the melt-in-your-mouth Seekh Kebabs — everything is crafted to perfection using authentic spices, fresh ingredients, and love. And don't even get me started on the naan — pillowy, crispy-edged, and the perfect companion to every curry. And vegetarians — don’t worry! The Paneer Tikka Masala and Chana Masala are equally mind-blowing. Balanced, bold, and bursting with flavor. What makes Anarkali stand out is the way it combines the bold, traditional tastes of Indian and Pakistani cuisine with an ambiance that’s super cool, modern, and inclusive. This has become our new favorite Indian place. The food is wonderful. Especially the goat curry and Vegetable biryani. The staff is friendly and the seating is plenty. They havr two, no frills, dining rooms. They do not bring your drinks except for the delicious mango lassi. There's a refrigerator at the front, where you order. It has sodas and water carafes so you can serve yourself. There, you will also find plates and silverware and glasses. They do bring your food though. This seems like a minor thing considering the quality of the food. The dining room is clean and there's a large TV to watch music videos. Other than that its pretty plsin. But you do not come here for the ambience. There's plenty of parking. And the restaurant is hilal. Also the cost is low so be sure to order a variety so you have something to take home for lunch the next day!!

We had a wonderful experience at Anarkali! Our party of 10 arrived after 9:00 PM, and they graciously accommodated us without hesitation. Ordered karai gosht: Pros: Meat pieces were actual meat pieces, not fat or bone. Nan was nice and hot and fresh. Cons: Seems the meat was pre-boiled and the curry was put together by mixing a tomato base and some spices, so it lacked the taste you get at home. Also ordered samosa chat later. Pros: The samosas were ok tasting. I had to use provided sauce to make them taste better though. Cons: The accompanying chick peas are not chat! They were simply curried chick peas. Chat is supposed to be yogurt based with an onion tomato garnish. Mango lassi. Give this a miss. It's too watery and no way can be classified as mango lassi. Suggested recipe: Get a tin of mango pulp, put in blender. Put in natural yogurt, around 50-50 of both ingredients. Blend. That's what I call mango lassi.

Food was great. Very affordable price. We were a group of 10 ppl and they accommodate us. There’s a room next to the main sitting area where we were able to pay namaz. I think it’s a great stop for some good Pakistani food at a very affordable price. Will definitely will stop by again

For the price you can't beat it can't complain at all whatsoever. It gives like a Shalimar restaurant / Bismillah in Fremont California taste. It's self-serve just like those two restaurants I mentioned. It's clean very clean. Chicken tikka masala is a bit sweet not my cup of tea. Everything else was perfect. It's a must try if you're in the area.

The food was alright 👍🏽. But the place was something else. If you want the REAL Indian/Pakistani experience. Don’t come here. But still the food was pretty good and I recommend coming here if you don’t care about the atmosphere and how the place looks. The only good thing about this restaurant is parking. The food and employees are disgusting, the guy in cashier was so rude and unprofessional, I asked for napkins he replied with angry face “this is self service and pointed the sign written self service”. We ordered Lamb karahi and chicken teka masala but it was more like soup mixed with oil, spices and water.

I’m a regular customer of Anarkali. Today I had ordered food and I was there to pick it up and I had a very bad experience with this restaurant. The cashier’s behavior is unbelievable. He didn’t let me to get tea(chaie), which is always for free but he shouted at me standing in front of me as if I was stealing it. When I asked him he can’t do like that he laughed at me with insult. He packed my and as if he was throwing the garbage and it all spilled out in my car. Though I will never buy again but I recommend you work on your staff behavior with customers to avoid your loyal customers. A single complaint to the city will ruin your whole business.

N
Narmeen Farooqui

I ordered Chicken Tikka and Bhindi Masala from this place. The food was so tasteless, tikka was full of food colors and had literally no flavour. All I could see in Bhindi masala was oil floating like they put all of it in that box. This kind of food is extremely unhealthy, taste is poor. I was so disappointed to order from here. Will never order again. I feel extremely bloated and sick after eating it.

Update: 6 years later they are still selling same cheaply made fake pakistani food without any taste or spices/masala. I thought they would be bankrupt by now but people in CA dont really know what actual desi food is. Disapointing. I ate desi food in 47+ countries and all around the US and this by far is the worse. If u are a desi or from Karachi/Lahore. AVOID. Its for non-desis like Arabs, Persians, Turks and whites. Desis, Go to Fremont if u can. I hate to write this as i have been to this place over 20 times over a year and staff there is just kind and awesome. Each time the food was tasteless to my desi taste buds. Maybe its because all Pakistani dishes are being quick cooked in fry pans who knows. Honestly PIA airplane food has more taste than this place. Ill just advise them to use Shan masala because they have failed to bring any original taste to these excellent dishes. Im sorry to all non-indian/pakistani people eating here. Our cuisine is all about spices and rich tastes and this restaurant is just opposite. This restaurant can survive here in CA but if it was in NYC, it would have already filed for bankruptcy.

A

Absolutely the worst Indian/Pakistani food experience I’ve ever had. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala—my go-to dish at every South Asian restaurant—and it was a complete disaster. The chicken was raw, completely inedible, and the sauce had a sour, spoiled smell like it had been sitting out for days. I also got the rice, which reeked like sweat—disgusting enough that I had to throw it straight in the trash. The naan? Barely cooked and so tough I couldn’t even chew it. On top of the awful food, be aware that the menu prices are misleading—expect to pay $5–$10 more than what’s listed. I usually try to point out both positives and negatives, but in this case, there’s absolutely nothing good to say. This place was a huge disappointment from start to finish. If you’re a fan of Chicken Tikka Masala, do not ruin your taste buds here. You’ve been warned.
