Mikel May’s Beachside Bar & Grill

I definitely will be adding this place to one of our normal stops. We enjoyed our service from Stacey, she was attentive, and polite and knew the menu when asked questions she gave good feedback in helping us make our decision. The food came out fresh and delicious with no complaints here. Looking forward to trying other dishes on our next visit. I recommend the cheeseburger flatbread for kids but still an adult could enjoy this too, the grilled flounder came with veggies and rice all perfectly cooked also the ceviche was refreshing and tasty. Happy hour is between 2pm and 6pm during our visit so we were able to enjoy discounted draft beer and with it being a Monday "Margarita Monday's" which is a whole nother menu of adult beverages during happy hour that are worth giving a try while sipping on island time. Thanks for a great spot and location!

We had an absolute blast at Merida's Tapas & Cantina!! The food was delicious, service was excellent and the outdoor patio was great!!! We enjoyed our visit to NPI and eating here was a great choice!!

We came in a random October Friday night while in town visiting my Mom in-law. We weren't really hungry just wanted a couple drinks and snacks. They had a band and karaoke both tons of fun! The lone server was attentive kind and excellent, bartender was super friendly and let us taste several beers on tap before ordering. We ended up with a basket of fish and chips that was cooked perfect. The batter was crispy and flaky, the fries were.. fries, if I had to pick one critique it'd be more salt on the fries. We also ordered the calamari and this is top tier. I personally love the tentacles and was pleased with the amount included. I don't care much for marinara so we dipped in ranch. It was excellent not rubbery at all. The best calamari we've had in corpus.

Went in for weekend breakfast, which is served Sat/Sun 10-2. Great breakfast and appreciate the extended breakfast hours on the weekend. I got the eggs Benedict which was excellent. My kids got a meat and cheese omelet and the breakfast sandwich. Both left full and happy with their choices. This was our first breakfast with Merida’s, but have had dinner several times here. The tapas are excellent with a wide variety of flavors to find what you like. Highly recommend this gem.

This was the perfect atmosphere for our 40th high school reunion mixer! May and her staff were amazing. Having an indoor/outdoor venue with karaoke and a huge party deck was ideal. We enjoyed the food, the drinks and the Jell-O shots. Everyone had a great time. Thank you for helping make our event memorable!

Great eatery! The tapas were great. We ordered fried shrimp and they were huge. Shrimp and Grits, Macaroni and Cheese with Shrimp and Calamari. All very tasty. Great atmosphere.

Visiting Corpus for a family event and we were fortunate to get to sample a couple of great places in town but Meridas was by far the best! The entire vibe was great, warm, welcoming and the food was fantastic. Happy hour special allowed us to sample a number of amazing tapas. My wife fell in love with the bloody orange margarita. Beautiful outdoor patio area. Definitely give this place a try!

The brunch was fantastic, and as you can see, the shrimp,eggs, and grits meal was spectacular! We all loved our meals! The service was prompt and almost too prompt as it felt a little like we were being hurried out. That was not the intention, but just a note. Definitely will be making this a regular spot!

Literally everything here exceeded my expectations by far! Drinks were great! And the service was some of the best I’ve had anywhere which is so refreshing, especially here in Corpus. Thank y’all so much! I’ll definitely be back here again. Oh, and there’s plenty of room on the patio, and room for boats as well. There’s extra parking in the back, the only downside I can see to this place is if they get really busy there’s only one bar… so come summertime…. Expect a little bit of a wait. But hey, that’s everywhere.

Yummmy great HH and service The paella was delicious great presentation and flavor . Visiting from Dallas definitely a great spot to dine in We sat at the bar the bartender Hope Was fabulous very welcoming and pleasant made our experience enjoyable.

As Padre Island residents, we were so happy to find the new Perrin’s food to be outstanding! We had the bow tie pasta with blackened chicken and the shrimp and fish basket with fried okra. We will be back, and often!

Another visit to Mikel May’s in Port A and it did not disappoint. New location, same amazing food and service. Portions are generous, the vibes are welcoming, and the family behind it makes you feel right at home. Don’t skip this spot if you’re in town.

The location is great, located on the water. The food flavor was amazing. We had boudin balls, that came with some sort of sauce, that wasn’t that great. The boudin balls themselves were amazing! The service was amazing! The crawfish had amazing flavor but some were slightly overcooked.

Loved Merida’s food, they just need more help… Done plenty of tapas before, know it’s a casual eating experience, and great to have this option on NPI! But, please find more servers! Bar served up a great Latin old-fashioned with Bulleitt 🥃 and kitchen sent salad/hot tapas quickly, but folks kept coming in and the staff (2 servers/hostesses + 2 bartenders) was overwhelmed. My Coles de Bruselas Afeitadas (Brussel sprout salad) was fresh and crispy and the Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp in spicy garlic sauce) was wonderful, but didn’t come with the pan rustico listed on the menu (got charged $2 for side bread when requested) which is an absolute must for the wonderful sauce. Overall a pleasant Dining experience. A new server was being trained while there, but they will need more help, even just to fill water glasses. Menu prices should be able to accommodate more staff. Gonna give it ONE more try and hope kinks are worked out because food is so good. Otherwise, just gonna have to plan on a looong Spanish afternoon, which can be sometimes be a challenge, even on the Island 😔

Good food. The fried shrimp and shrimp and grits were delicious. The seafood pasta is very buttery. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Friendly and informative staff. Our waitress obviously loves the food as she couldn't speak highly enough of it. We had the ceviche de Merida. While good, it lacked a depth of flavor that I expect from a ceviche. The chips that come with it are delicious. The camarones al ajillo was ok. It was lukewarm. There was a very mild garlic flavor and no spice level to it. We, also, had their cacio e pepe with chicken. The cheese was delicious and so was the arugula. The flatbread needed to be crispier. The chicken was good.

I definitely had high expectations. I am a huge fan of Chef Gail. The food was not hot, we had the chicken pincho and the steak and gorgonzola Flatbread. and my husband said the steak tasted weird. The chicken pincho had a nice flavor of pineapple and was tender. I was just really worried about the TCS. The bread serverd with the pincho was way to hard to eat. The owner told us the empanada are not made in house. They're working on that. Disappointing. I'm not a fan of the hand held POS system. I get it moving on up with the times. The sweet server ( Lisa) had no idea what we were ordering she had to ask us how to pronounce things and if she was entering it correctly in the hand held POS The wine list is small but decent. Only 2 wines from California. Super happy about that. We had to ask for a shim the table was wobbly. My husband said the bathroom was very uncomfortable. I guess there was some kind of curtain. We'll give them a chance to work out the kinks and try again. Have Fun

Excellent service, very nice staff and nice restaurant. Very good drinks! However the paella left me with a huge dissapointment. I don’t know how you could call this a paella. To me and probably everby in Spain at least a paella contains saffron. This had no saffron and wasn’t even close to taste like a paella. Not even a dish of fried rice. It was just boiled rice with some peas and tastless seafood on top. The only thing with any taste was the mussels.

Visited a week & half after opening. Nice location. Waitress seemed a little overwelmed as she kept forgetting about us. On the fence with food. We had the boudin balls (too small & overcooked), gumbo (ehh) and catfish atchafalaya (fish had a frozen after taste). I'll definitely give it another go to try other menu items.

GARLIC! That's all we tasted in everything we ordered. Lobster Mac was just Mac with minimal protein. Drinks were average, but the staff was nice and attentive. Kitchen needs help.
