Blue Barn is my favorite restaurant in the village! Sure, it may be crazy expensive, but they have great, tasty ingredients that make for delicious salads. The people there are very helpful and overall it's a very great place.
Ordered the skirt sandwich and I was very impressed. I asked for medium rare and they cooked it perfectly. Sandwich was pretty big so the price was understandable. I want to try the buffalo sandwich next!
For a family including three teens, who aren't fussed on gourmet fanciness, this place catered for the kids' simple wishes. Might've helped that we are Aussies. The boss was great, the food delicious and the environs very nice indeed.
Seriously, it's a great experience coming here to the Marin County offshoot of SF's original Marina location! They can actually say "gourmet" and mean it here! Everything is freshly prepared when it comes to salads and sandwiches. My first time, I went the salad route and got the Beets and Greens salad with Grilled Organic Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly! I've been to many high end restaurants in my life and their salmon was among the best prepared I've ever had. Well done! I'm coming back!
Energetic vibrant space with friendly staff and delicious sandwiches. I had the barn BLT and it was fantastic. Great balance of savory with acid from the tomatoes and goat cheese.
Loved their sandwiches and salads here. Staffs were kind and nice too. Nice sitting set for both indoor and outdoor. Pricey but worth it too.
Don't hesitate! --> Ok this is odd... because this usually happens with bars, back in the old days. The people here are family. I want to treat them better than most of my relatives. They're sweet, smart, helpful, real, and simply the best. All of them. If I weren't some awkwardly super tall random dude I would try to hug people that work there. I know it's spendy, and I get it's a GIANT salad. Not Seinfeld big salad... GIANT. But everything about the place is excellent, the sandwiches are amazing, the side menu can afford you an extravagant meal of fries, side caesar, and tasty tasty fried chicken for less than your "is this farmer's market overpriced like for real" reaction. I'll put it at the top, but don't hesitate.
Lots of good choices and fresh ingredients.
Kind of expensive for a sandwich but really delicious. The salad was spectacular and big. We split a salad and sandwich, which is a good way to try both.
We eat here several times a week. The you pick custom salads are great. The ordering system online is excellent, everything is easy. It's also pretty good for you.
Struggled with 4 or 5 stars. Would be 4.5 if an option. Great fresh food, local ingredients and staff that is generally very cool. Tonight in particular the person helping me was super patient with several asks. Rounding up as that's huge! The only negative is the price tag. I'm often surprised at how quickly my order adds up to the cost of a formal sit down meal.
Excellent eatery. Wishing they were in Colorado as I was visiting the area. Ate at the Barn each day of my stay. It was incredibly satisfying and delicious. I ordered the Tostada salad or created my own salad. So good, I recreated the salad, to similar but not the same yumm.
Very fresh tasty menu. Buffalo chicken sandwich was well seasoned, with perky slaw. The spicy wild ahi tuna tartare salad was fresh and well balanced. Even the picky youngster gave the grilled cheese a thumbs up! Hazy IPA was excellent brew.
Down in Corta Madera kickin dirt clods and pokin around minding my own business when the Hansen twins... Sally and Sue threw some rocks at me. They never could throw very good, but that Sally has an arm! It's a good thing her aim was off. I told them if they'd be nice I'd pop for lunch at the Blue Barn Restaurant, and that was it. The lunch was Amazing 5 stars all the way! ☆☆☆☆☆
My husband and I stumbled upon this place while exploring on vacation. The sandwiches that we got were absolutely delicious and they were big sandwiches. I was only able to finish half of mine. We are very pleased to have eaten here. The whole vibe is a win.
I got the Burrata sandwich and casbah salad here. The burrata was so creamy and the bread was perfectly crispy and toasted, and the pesto sauce was rich and creamy. Hands down probably the yummiest sandwich I’ve ever eaten! The casbah salad was tasty with beets and crispy garbanzo beans. Really loved the food here, and you can sit outside right now to eat during Covid-19.
The sandwich was good!! The food was delicious. I would have loved it if the sandwich had come with fries or a salad; the presentation looks very plain and empty.
My visit to 'Blue Barn' this Saturday was a delightful experience from start to finish. I was looking for a healthy lunch spot and was happy that I went there. I ordered the 'Spicy Tuna' salad. The greens were incredibly fresh and crisp, and the combination of a spicy tuna, salad leaves, freshly cut avocado and delicious dressing was perfectly balanced. I also appreciated the generous portion size. If you are looking for a healthy fresh tasty meal, you should definitely try it. They also have a great choice of sandwiches...

I ordered a Buddha sandwich to go. It was delicious! The bread and veggies were really fresh, and there was a generous portion of goat cheese, veggies, and hummus. Way better than fast food and the same price.
Great sandwiches but expensive. Definitely order ahead through their website, waits can be long during peak. Good luck finding seating! Very little indoor chairs and outdoor chairs are always packed on a nice day.
Lots of good choices and fresh ingredients.

Popped in for 'something' and decided on a piece of salmon. It was cooked to perfection! Very impressed. My date had their Soft Serve Choc/Vanilla Twist with hot fudge sauce - outstanding. There are no bargains in the Barn
$30 for two sandwiches but they were delicious. We ended up here because The Counter was closed. The fries aren’t very good though and come in a very small serving. Overall this location is very Marin, both good and obnoxious, and the food is good enough we’ll be going back again. Four stars cause the staff was super nice and friendly and the sandwiches were quite good with fresh ingredients tho the fries were lacking especially considering price.
I've only tried their sandwiches and they are really good. Their aioli is everything! I just wish their packaging was a little more minimalistic and not so wasteful. If they need to justify the prices, they could just make the sandwiches bigger or include a small side.
I've been to Blue Barn several times and have enjoyed most meals. The 4 out of 5 is due to the cost which is pretty high even for Marin. I don't think I've ever gone and spent less than $16 for a sandwich or salad. That being said, they use good ingredients and everything is very flavorful. I personally like the Rooster.
Blue Barn remains my favorite Bay Area salad chain. The summer seasonal heirloom salad was amazing. My friend liked the sandwich as well - both were very filling, with a great variety of textures and tastes! On the pricier side (my salad was somewhere between $15-18 post-tax), but well worth it. Nice mix of outdoor and indoor seating at this location
Great salad but not for $27, what are they smoking? Ill be headed to Sweetgreens next time for the same salad at $10 less
Food is yummy. Good ambiance and the whole mall is a nice place to visit. A little expensive though but is worth it for a nice occasion.

While I agree with other reviewers that The food is expensive, I believe the price is commensurate with the quality. Barn BLT is hands down the best BLT I’ve ever eaten, and they have a steak sandwich that’s delicious. The salads are too $$ for me, but then again, I’m not the biggest fan of salad in general, and and happiest with iceberg lettuce covered with blue cheese dressing, lol. I do like the spicy tuna salad, but prefer to order a side of the spicy tuna itself, then eat it with chips. The service is fine;, as is the atmosphere, but I always get it to go.
This place is healthy + delicious. I appreciate that you are able to order by phone to pick up. Its convenient. I love that they ask if you want the dressing to be tossed in the salad. This place can get busy where it can be challenging to find seating but that's ok. Busy is good. Service is great!

Love the salads here. If you're practicing a plant-pased lifestyle know the fries are fried in chicken oil. That part is just gross for me. The service was good and the bussers are so on their game here! Yum, they serve Marin kombucha on tap. The soup is a bit over-priced for a cup. My friend ordered bread and received two 1×2 inch pieces for $1 (bread usually comes with soup in most restaurants) brought to our table in a small brown bag with a tissue inside. Why not on a small plate? Wasteful.
Here's what you need to know before going to Blue Barn. 1. The food is really good 2. It's also really expensive. Two sandwiches & salad with salmon $50 3. Expect to wait. Nothing happens quickly at the Barn. 4. It's the coldest restaurant you'll ever dine at, we're talking coat and hat in winter.
It’s a nice sandwich place. The name was nice that why I had a meal here. It seemed pretty popular. The sandwiches and my tomato basil soup were okay. It was expensive for sandwiches Rating - 3 Location - 5 Kids friendly - 4

Average, typical California food, definitely notches above franchise fast foods tho. Didn’t find the food outstanding or of culinary delight. Tater tots were really good. Not certain if the chicken in the sandwich was supposed to be hot or cold.

Nearly always fresh ingredients. Prices have risen in excess of inflation. Just paid $26.50 for a salad...before being prompted for a gratuity. That's ridiculous. Been going regularly for several years, but I'm all done. Price to value is definitely substandard at this point.
Trying to do much with sandwiches, over loaded with sauce. As others mentioned the price is very high. I got the BLT and maybe 2 small slices of bacon.
Great salads but their ordering is archaic. Most times I try to call to order, the line is busy. Their online ordering system is clunky and is also unavailable lots of the time. Even during Covid, they didn't offer delivery. I love their salads but Bluebarn makes it really difficult to get them.
Ordered Tea Leaf salad without Farro (gluten issue!) and was offered extra quinoa instead. Nice idea! Until I got home and there was no quinoa AND a charge (that was not mentioned) for the extra quinoa on top of it. End of the night so nobody to call about it.
I would love to give the store a 5 stars, but the lack warm welcome and cold stare with no acknowledgement when entering is a big no for me. The staff customer facing should be more inviting especially if we're paying $25 for a salad.. train staff to be more pleasant.
Good locations and friendly service BUT, yes the big but is wayyyyy too much fat dressing on almost each and every dish. I guess that is one of the ways to make it tasty. Hard to digest 🤣
No vegan option. I had one of their 2 veggie sandwiches without the cheese, but still had a stomach ache after eating it. Perhaps they are grilling the bread with butter. Guy at the counter was nice.
I used to work next door and there was always a line that wrapped around the block so when there wasn't a line today I decided to try it myself. I didn't realize I was tipping $5 to wait on myself and bus my own table. I also thought they had many soup options and only had 2. The bacon in the BLT was rock hard with no way to order it differently. The chicken in the fried chicken sandwich had been prep cooked and then re heated, and was dried out. The sugar in the BBQ sauce overpowered the whole thing. For getting there right at noon it felt like all our food had been sitting made for hours. I understand why there is no longer a line around the block.
Ok, this time. Usually very good. On my sandwich I asked them to omit the goat cheese. I think they forgot and just took it off the bread instead of giving me a new bread. It was horrible! I couldn't even eat the sandwich. I almost threw up!!! That taste with that goat cheese. You really have to watch how your food is prepared!
Today I ordered the "Cobbler Salad" for $20.95. Did not look good or taste good to me. The chicken was a shaved mystery meat, maybe 1/8' thick. Bacon did not look like any bacon I have seen been before. The salad was mostly greasy croutons and tiny bits of romaine lettuce and bacon that both that looked they it went through a lawnmower. More like something I would expect to get at McDonalds. Almost no dressing and when I asked for more I got a thimble's worth.
Disappointing. My salad smelled off. It was on the counter and my friend walked in saying something smelled rotten. There were a few pieces of lettuce that ruined my salad. The slice or 2 of the focaccia was 1/3 the size of 1 slice. The kids' meal of salmon was supposed to come with vegetables. Only a sad little piece of salmon. I have bought both the salad and the kids' meal before and this was not the same quality. Perhaps they were waiting on a delivery. Many salads were not available this morning.

Great food which is way overpriced. Now charging 5% for online orders to cover the cost of the platform?! Take some of the $20 you already charge for a salad to cover your cost rather than putting it on the customer.
Today I ordered $330.00 worth of food with tip. I went to order on their website at 10:00 am and it would not allow me to. It said they were not open so I placed the order at 12:00 pm Thinking it would be an hour yet it said it would be done by 12:25pm. I arrived at 12:45 pm it was ready however instead of them thanking me for giving them my business the guy who I am not sure if he was the manager or just a staff member proceeded to give me a lecture on how I did not give them enough notice!? Saying next time order earlier because they had to stop everything to make your food. I was blown away! I just spent $330 there and tipped them $50!? I explained to him his website would NOT allow me to do so...But I said giving me a lecture instead of thanking me for bringing them business!? This will be the LAST time I order food for my staff at this place. HORRIBLE customer service! YOU DO NOT LECTURE A CUSTOMER FOR GIVING THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!
Wished I had seen the menu before actually arriving and ordering. I felt when I was looking at the menu I was being rushed. I say this because the cashier had asked if I'm ready to order and clearly you could tell I was reading the menu and had been there literally 5 min. When I mean reading, it was written in a font that wasn't easy to read and so many items inside one sandwich. Then I was asked again if I was ready to order. Nothing like feeling rushed and then you just order a sandwich you hope is good. I waited awhile for the sandwich. Which was ironic since I was basically feeling rushed to order by the cashier as she stood there and stared at me. Unfortunately, what they have as a BLT was not a good sandwich. If I had time to actually read the whole menu. I would have discarded a few items. Whatever it was that tasted tangy was not a pleasant flavor and did not go well with the other items especially the feta & bacon. Everything was sliding all over and items kept falling out and then it was slightly soggy. Glad I was able to try something, but I will never eat there again. Not for everyone.
Such a bummer. Salad was full of rotten greens and found hair in our salad. We normally love this place but the care has gone way down hill.
Awful allergen accommodations. Not only no gluten free bread options, which is archaic at this point as many restaurants do offer this, but my daughter tried to order a sandwich as a salad, they refused, then she asked for the sandwich ingredients without bread on a plate, and again they REFUSED. They said she had to get the bread with it. I ordered a salad with listed ingredients that I could safely eat, and it came WITH A PIECE OF BREAD STUCK RIGHT IN THE SALAD BOWL WHICH WAS NOT LISTED ON THE MENU! And the chicken I ordered on it had soy sauce in it, which again was NOT LISTED ON THE MENU. They said “You should have told us”, which I definitely should have, but they didn’t need to be rude and make me feel unwelcome. Is it so hard to list all of the ingredients? Then there wouldn’t be so much confusion. I thought it was safe based on what the menu said. I had to ask them to remake the salad. Don’t go here if you have allergies. It’s too expensive for what you get. They act offended if you try to nicely ask for an accommodation for your safety. And they are rude when a change is needed.
