Great food in such a nice environment. The chicken fried steak might be the best I’ve had! And the biscuits are so yummy. 😊 The service is friendly and attentive. We walked in the garden after eating and met the owner who was very nice. Also want to mention it’s worth waiting a little bit even if there is a line!
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟 I’ve been to this place now about 5 or 6 times, and I need to eat here at least once a month. My mental health support literally comes in the form of their 🥞 buttermilk pancakes with the in-house syrup and 🥔 parmesan breakfast potatoes. Also, a really special shoutout to the service staff 🤍✨ — how willing they are to work with you for all types of modifications. Instead of just saying no, we don’t do that, they genuinely make attempts to try and satisfy your needs in the best way possible, and that’s just that added touch of Southern hospitality 🌿🌞 that a lot of other businesses are missing out on.
me and my partners favorite spot! The bartender lady was so joyful and sweet. The food is absoutly off the charts. Breakfast sandwich with the seasoned fries and a blueberry pancake was to die for. also the parmesean potatos are spectacular. Would reccomend.
French toast was delicious!! So was the breakfast sandwich! Their iced chai tea tasted so fresh and yummy as well. Excellent service. You probably need to make a reservation. Gets very busy.
This is exactly what you want from a local breakfast establishment. It’s cozy, it’s warm. All the food is fresh and amazing. There is a barista pulling shots like an angel. I’ve been here too many times to count and I will be here many more in the future. Make a reservation or shoot your shot at the limited bar space.
Garden cafe was awesome. The cozy vibe on a cold Saturday morning made this place feel like home. Delicious chicken fried steak and coffee was my breakfast of choice and it did not disappoint. Tim was our server and took great care of us. I highly recommend this hidden jewel of a place.
We went at about 2 pm on a Saturday so were seated right away and asked for outside table. It was an unseasonably warm day and we enjoyed the patio and sitting near the garden area. Food arrived hot and fresh. Service was friendly. Best part was we did not feel rushed and enjoyed the chill vibe. We had our granddaughter with us and were able to entertain her by visiting the chicken coop and walking around the garden. It has been several since we last were her and found the parking situation much improved. Overall, we were delighted to rediscover this place.
I came here with my boyfriend and we loved it so much we decided to bring our friends here for New Years. They were able to accommodate for 13 people (we emailed ahead of time), and provided efficient space for us to enjoy our food and time together. Their sweet potato pancakes are nothing but delicious and memorable! This has become a new staple brunch spot for me and my boyfriend! Love it here!
Fabulous comfort food restaurant and neighborhood gem. More commonly known for its lunchtime crowd and brunches, it is also a great dinner destination. The Frenched pork chop with red cabbage was excellent, particularly with a side of their whipped mash potatoes. Their chicken and dumplings is also an excellent choice. Give it a try!
Omg.... this is the best pancake ive had ever in my life... idk what's in it maybe its the syrup... Service was great... THIS ARE THE BEST PANCAKES YOU WILL EVER EAT, the eggs need some season salt... but overall im impressed its either a 1 or a 5 with me... I didnt have a wait because I was eating solo... didnt get a chance to check out the beautiful back... but the food is amazing... I will bring everyone I know here and it will be highly recommended...
The was our first visit here…if you are going to eat here on the weekend, you should make reservations! We were there on a Sunday, and luckily, my wife had made reservations as they weren’t taking walk-ins. We had made reservations to sit outside in the garden area and it was a nice atmosphere. We ordered the Texas Watermelon and Tomato Salad (watermelon, cherry tomato’s, red onion, cucumber, feta and mint vinaigrette) and the Classic meatloaf (with a garden marinara sauce and Parmesan breakfast potatoes). The salad and the meatloaf were really great with fresh ingredients. You probably don’t want to come here if you’re in a hurry….as it’s more of a laid back vibe….but if you’re ready to sit back, enjoy great food and conversation, this is your place…just relax and leave yourself plenty of time as it may take a while for the food to come out. Also, if you are having desert, put your order in early. We ordered the strawberry shortcake after we finished our meatloaf, and it took 20 to 25 minutes to come out. The servers were great, but they may have been a little shorthanded as it seemed the servers were having to literally run at times to keep up. All in all, a great experience. Lastly, it was nice to check out the garden after our meal to see all the things they grow fresh and use for their restaurant.
5/5. For brunch, I tried the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs and it was solid. I liked the Shrimp and Grits better though. But the Parmesan Breakfast Potatoes and the French toast….will have me coming back EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is so good and The patio is amazing. I would say it’s only worth to come here for the patio. They have fans outside. They have a beautiful garden outside that supplies their herbs and vegetables. And I believe our servers name was Holden and he was great! We added on French toast late and he made it happen to where we only waited a few minutes. For peace of mind, I would make a reservation if coming on the weekend. Came again for Dinner and the flat iron steak *chef’s kiss* and the burrata was divine ✨ My favorite mocktail is the Pineapple Jalapeno Agua Fresca Also they change their menu seasonally
One of my favorite spots in east Dallas. The food quality is always 12/10. The staff is always kind, service is always great. I love getting the weekend specials, and(let’s just be honest) anything on the menu. Thank you to Mark, Justin, Becky, Melissa, Holden, and everyone else for always being cool. 🖤
Beautiful outside patio area surrounded by a lush vegetable garden. There are a couple of chickens and a child's play area. The inside dining area is cozy with comfortable booths. If you want to eat in the garden on a weekend, make reservations! The food is delicious, and the portions are good. Lots of menu items that cater to everyone, including vegetarians. The staff is funny and attentive. Our waiter Holden gave us lots of suggestions, and his witty banter kept everyone laughing. This is the perfect place to eat outside when the weather is great. If the weather is an issue, just eat inside and enjoy all the terrific home cooked food!
The shrimp and grits was everything …absolutely delicious. A little disappointed in my drink as I asked for something with presentation (flowers), and although reassured, my cocktail was very basic. Not the end of the world, though. I enjoyed my company and the food. I sampled the brussels sprouts and the sweet potato pancake in addition to my shrimp and grits. Outstanding. The garden area outside was also beautiful and peaceful.
I would consider this place an awesome little hidden gem. It's a more casual restaurant with a good variety of brunch items. The patio is definitely the place to be. It's in the middle of a garden, we visited in the fall and the weather is cooling down and it's looking a little like someone's back yard project at the moment. It's so very quaint, and the food is very good. The waitress was a little slow getting us drinks and menus, but we were not in any rush. I ordered a Mexican inspired juevos del sol dish and my bf went a little more traditional with his omelette and pancake. He ordered a mimosa and I ordered a latte. I also ordered a seasonal special a raspberry bread pudding which I liked. I would definitely recommend the juevos del sol, it was very flavorful! I loved how dog friendly the patio was! I would definitely
The food was not very good. I had a simple egg plate. Scrambled eggs tasted odd, sausage was very greasy and potatoes very over seasoned. My daughter had an egg sandwich, which had no flavor and there was an hair in it. Kids running around with no issues, not very clean, somewhat odd place. Only real positive was the service was quick and friendly.
Although the ambiance at Garden Café is wonderful, I would only recommend it with reservations, and not the kind where you call ahead. While the ingredients are farm fresh, the dishes still felt heavy and unhealthy in preparation. The fried okra was flavorless and oily, the gnocchi settled like a brick in the stomach, and the biscuit was salty to the point it burned my mouth. Many menu items were already unavailable early in the evening, which was disappointing. Our server was very personable, but seemed overwhelmed despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Service overall was disorganized: food was often delivered to the wrong tables, and at one point the bartender was running food and stopped at three different tables before finally finding the right one. Overall, a beautiful setting, but the food, service, and execution left a lot to be desired.
