I was recommended this restaurant while travelling for business by a Denver local. I was told they have "the best margaritas in the city". We went on a weeknight about an hour before closing. No issues getting seating. Our server was great. Food was amazing! Drinks were top notch as well! Would definitely recommend a visit here. I got the tortilla soup as it was the coldest night of summer so far, and it was delicious. A lot of chicken and I love that it wasn't just all broth. They bring it to your table with just the chicken and bowl full of crunchy tortilla strips and then all of the toppings you see in the photo and the broth is in a separate container and they pour it on your bowl table side so your food isn't soggy when you receive it. loved this!!! And the presentation was beautiful!!

I took my girlfriend to dinner here on a Saturday night while in town for an Avs game and was not disappointed. We got there later around 8:00 p.m. so it wasn't too busy. Our server Jasmine was funny and attentive we ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer which was kind of small but delicious. She ordered a blue agave margarita what she said was good and I there only non-alcoholic beer which was surprisingly good. We both ordered signature asada for our entree and we're both very impressed. All in all a great experience and will probably be back the next time we're in town.

Delicious margaritas! We visited on their “taco Tuesday” night before we went to a comedy show and the specials for great; i had their street tacos and they were so tasty. The queso was delicious and even better with the tortilla strips they served in the side. Our friends ordered their veggie options and were very impressed with them. We’ll definitely be back!

Without a doubt, the most unique menu in flavors I’ve ever tasted! I am from San Francisco and have a developed pallet! If you’re looking for light, saucy, and a blast of flavors you’ll come here! Brandon is great! Offered us top-notch service!

Great experience worth traveling through 16th street construction. Great service (Eric), and nice atmosphere playing a pleasant sound track, but you're interested in the food. First, order the guac! Made to order with fresh ingredients. Pair it with the warm corn chips and spicy salsa. You will be on your way to pleasure town. My daughter had the tuna Napoleon. It got rave reviews, was gorgeous to look at and had mounds of tuna stacked on a bed of rice. I had a sumptuous southwest cob salad. This had all the favorites, lettuce, egg, black beans, avocado, tomatoes, etc. It's a lunchtime serving that stayed with me through a long flight to Philly. One downside was both my daughter and I had post meal thirst that we suspect was from too much salt. Nothing we had tasted "salty" but it might be a good idea to revisit recipes to tweak the salt. Blue Agave will be on my must visits on future trips to Denver.

Definitely try out their tacos! They were amazing!! Their grilled chicken was also juicy and tender! Their steak got tons of smoky taste! Lots of local beer choices for the first Colorado comer to try. Great service and great vibe!

Some places I review, I wish I could give six stars to. This is one of them. I dropped in for dinner and started with the corn dip which is phenomenal!! Next came the tortilla soup which is beautiful and quite filling. Added sides of the jalapeno cornbread that was like cake with a slight kick. And the truffle bacon Brussels that were excellent as well. I was too full for desert. But I succumbed to the temptation of the peanut butter mousse. Sat at the bar by myself and while the bartender was friendly and professional, she only ventured to my end of the bar occasionally. Maybe my expectations are too high, but you expect a pinch of conversation if you are the only person at the bar. That's my only ding. Prices are reasonable, food came out quick. I may come back tomorrow!

Went here for a buddies bachelor party dinner! The food was excellent! We ordered 5 appetizers, and every single one of them was finished! The main courses were also excellent along with the drinks! I'd recommend the margarita flight to get a taste of their top margs! The service was outstanding, and we will definitely be back!

This place was awesome. We came at 1pm on a Saturday and brunch was still available. We opted for the unlimited mimosas, but ordered food from the lunch menu. They do bottomless mimosas the right way. I received a glass and a small caraf and every time the caraf was empty, the server came over and filled it up. The Tacos de Fuego came with a show. The sopapillas were legit some of the best I've ever had. We will definitely come back!

Dropped in for taco Tuesday and they have $5 margaritas and 3 tacos for $5-$9 which is a very sweet deal considering the other places nearby. The staff and crew were really friendly and welcoming. The house margaritas on rocks is a must try- would highly recommend this place!

This place exceeded my expectations. We started off with the chorizo corn dip which was full of flavor and the right amouny of heat. It was so good, I forgot to take a photo lol. For my entree, I got the blue corn enchiladas with chicken. These were fantastic, they weren't really saucy but packed with flavor and the chicken was tender, moist and delicious. I don't usually get chicken enchiladas because they are soo dry most places I go. But this dish really was delicious. It also came with beans and white Mexican rice which were 👌🏼. My husband got the seared scallops which were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our server was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be coming back here soon!

My friends and I had a great time here. We were a big group (10 people) and they were one of the few places that let us reserve a table. They have quite a few Vegan and Vegetarian items on their menu, so it's really easy to order. We ordered the avocado tacos and the black bean enchilada, both were delicious but I would recommend the avocado tacos more. We also got a couple of margarita flights which we thoroughly enjoyed. The servers are extremely friendly as well. Overall, would highly recommend

Stopped in on my lunch break and had the pleasure of being by Jesus!! He is awesome and made everything even better. The margarita is fantastic!! Like fantastic. The Brussels sprouts are a little plain but I added some balsamic vinegar and it made all the difference. The salmon was so good, cooked perfectly. The sauce it was served with had me kind of curious but was pleasantly surprised at how well they paired. I loved the squash it came with and it was served over a most delicious rice! It was my first time here and I will definitely be back

I’ve taken friends and family here several times when we visit Denver, and it’s a hit every single time. Their menu has a lot to choose from, and their happy hour is pretty great for what’s included! Never had a problem with service and the food / drinks always come out as described.

I was quite impressed with the overall experience at this restaurant. The service was excellent as our server was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and they had numerous vegetarians, which is always good to see. The prices are a bit high, but that’s also to be expected based on the downtown location of the restaurant. I would go here again. The avocado tacos were some of the best tacos that I’ve ever had!

Fabulous experience! Everything about this restaurant exceeded expectations. We started with the queso fundido...a fabulous, creamy, cheesy heaven! Every meal ordered at our table was excellent....terriyaki glazed salmon, apple wood burger with fries, mango fish tacos, and the delectable soy walnut enchiladas with black beans and cilantro rice. I wish we were here longer to go back and sample more of the creative dishes offered here. Our service was fast, friendly, and efficient! Highly recommend!!

My boyfriend's Dad had just flown in and took the train to Union Station. We met him there and started walking up 16th street to find a place to eat. The outside patio area is what drew us in. Although servers are usually strictly assigned to the patio, I feel as if customers outside sometimes get forgotten about, but that was not the case here! Our server checked in with us often and we were never left with an empty glass before he could ask us if we needed refills, etc. They have a LARGE selection of margaritas, something sure to please everyone in your party. I had the Blue Agave Margarita. It did taste heavy with triple sec, but it was alright. For my meal I had the Grilled Chili Lime Chicken Tacos. It came with Cilantro Ric and beans and was just the perfect portion for lunch. The chicken was HOT and you could tell the salsa, cilantro and onions were FRESH. My meal was fantastic! My boyfriend had the Grilled Teriyaki Salmon and his Dad had the Blackened Yellowfin Tuna. I didn't try either of them but the presentation was nice. A plus about this restaurant is that they have a TON of gluten free dishes and gluten free options available for dishes that aren't. Original Yelp review 1/14/2019

Was in town for a work conference and stopped by for a quick bite, had some of the best enchiladas I've ever eaten. The blue corn chicken enchiladas were juicy and flavorful, the rice and beans were perfectly seasoned and just as good as the enchiladas themselves. Friendly and prompt service, my water was always full. Would love to come back and try more of the menu and drinks!

I am a big fan of Mexican and southwestern food, and this place did not disappoint. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meals. I enjoyed the pork steak burrito. The ladies in our party enjoyed the margaritas, and I enjoyed their ample menu of local CO draft craft beers. Service was very pleasant and responsive. They have QR codes for the menus, which seems like a good idea during a pandemic. The location on 16th Street Mall is convenient. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. The on-street live entertainment outside the restaurant (some sort of dancing / singing cowboy with a microphone) was a little much. So we opted to dine indoors. (Of course , I assume the street performance was outside the restaurant’s control.) It is very nicely appointed inside and is tastefully decorated. One suggestion is to opt to a different music playlist. The 90s alternative playlist did not seem fitting for an upscale southwestern restaurant! But overall, I was very pleased with the meal, service, value and experience.

First time here and wasn’t sure what to expect since it was a fixed menu for Denver Restaurant Week. To my surprise there was plenty to choose from and the portions were not skimpy as many are for restaurant week. The presentation for each dish was almost too pretty to eat and we loved the coconut shrimp!!

We had a fantastic experience at blue agave! The service was super fast and the food was even better. We liked the food so much we came back a second time during our trip. Definitely a spot to check out if you are in downtown Denver.

So, super place for my first visit. Food, margaritas, service. Glitch with an order but fixed QUICK. Zero complaints. Now, would I come back? Maybe no. I think that was it. I got the one meal that I thought I'd like and I did. Same for the rest of the bunch. *I would've enjoyed more than a bowl of chips with my pay chip n salsa. Plus the teeny salsa cup. Delicious meals.

Me and 3 coworkers came to the denver location for our lunch break and the staff was so incredibly kind. Our appetizer took longer than usual to come out and the staff was so transparent and kind to us about this. They were very timely on everything else and the manager even made sure to refill our drinks and bring us desert within minutes of ordering. This was an absolutely wonderful experience. We will be back.

Great good! I had the carnitas and it was a great twist on a favorite. It was slow cooked large cubed chunks. My friends got tacos that all looked amazing as well. Definitely recommend!

Excellent food and amazing service! We had three celiacs in our group, and the staff went out of their way to make sure their meals were safe. There was one mix-up which was quickly resolved, and we had a delightful meal!

The chef or owner (can't remember which) has Celiac so they are super dedicated to a clean, safe, gluten free prep area which is amazing. The food was good, we ordered chicken tacos and buffalo chili, but the best part of our meal was the chorizo corn dip appetizer. Also the bar tender was so great in helping to make sure all of the ingredients in the cocktail I ordered were also gluten free. Thank you for making Celiac safe food!!

M

Solid Mexican meal, good service, nice spot. The food was very tasty and well made, nothing surprising or super unique, but solid. Margaritas were a high point - they will customize anything for you, make something special, etc. Service was mostly good -- we ate in the bar area and the poor bartender was waiting on a full bar, 10 tables in the bar area, and training a new guy that was struggling. Our server/bartender was working her tail off, but it was too much. But overall we did enjoy the meal and the restaurant as a whole. GENERAL MANAGER: Please just hire bussers to do water, clear plates, etc. It reduces stress on your servers and lets you turn tables faster!

Solid happy hour on a Thursday evening! The basic marg wasn't super special (didn't taste very fresh), but no complaints at $6. They didn't have frozen when we went, but I'd be interested to try that. The guac that we ordered was very disappointing. Had essentially no flavor - adding some salt on myself made a world of a difference. The tacos were a different story. All were very tasty (we ordered the fried tilapia, adobo pork, pesto carnitas, and chili lime chicken (not pictured)). My girlfriend favored the tilapia bc of the mango salsa. I really liked the adobo pork with the sweet marinade. Four taco plates was overkill for the two of us, but overall pretty good value.

Visited just after the 16th street mall finished on that block. Sat outside and it was glorious! Service was great! My husband loved his burger. Said it was the best he’s ever had! But my salad was just “fine.” It wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad, but it was $22. Sangria and margaritas were good. We will definitely be back.

Came in for a late dinner on a whim and was pleasantly surprised!! As a taco snob, I really enjoyed the mango tacos!! They were flavorful, tasted fresh, and came with a side of rice and beans! Also got the chicken (first on the menu) and it was decent. Tacos were better! Good margaritas too! Depending on time of day, you may get easy street parking. Construction in front of restaurant happening as of 12/2023

We were in Denver for Saturday and for lunch we searched near Denver downtown and decided to have lunch at Blue Agave Grill seeing their reviews and location near us. Accessibility Blue Agave Grill is located in Denver Downtown and being in downtown one has to find the parking either on the roadside or in the parking garage. Service Our server was amazing and answered all our questions about the menu and food perfectly. Plus we didn't had to wait much for the food. Food For the food we started with drinks which was margarita and then we had chips, salsa and queso. For lunch we ordered Tequila Lime Chicken, Grilled Salmon, Blue Agave Fish Tacos and for desert we ordered Tres Chocolate Brownie Cake. Our server first bought the drinks which was margarita along with chips, salsa and queso sauce. The drink was amazing and it was what I needed it. Chips Salsa and queso was also delicious. Especially Salsa which was freshly made. After drinks we soon started getting our lunch which included Lime Chicken, Salmon and Fish Tacos. We loved the lime chicken along with salmon and fish tacos. Chicken and Salmon were perfectly cooked which made them delicious. Then we got our desert which was Tres Chocolate Brownie Cake which was the perfect end to our lunch. Amazing restaurant in the denver downtown to have lunch or dinner.

Visited here tonight, (Valentines) dinner with my partner. We had reservations for 830, in which we were 15 minutes late due to parking. We called to ensure our reservation was still secure and were told we were ok. The menu was a 3 course Valentine’s selection, which included a choice of the $45 menu or the $65 menu. The $65 menu included more seafood options like sea bass, salmon and shrimp. You get to choose an adult beverage an appetizer an entree and a dessert. For my entree, I chose the chicken breast, which was on a nice serving of mashed potatoes with asparagus. It was 10/10. For my starter they had 3 options and they all contained either pork or seafood, in which I don’t eat. The waitress gave some major pushback when asking if we could substitute something for chicken. She finally gave in and asked the cooks and they were more than willing to accommodate us. So I ordered the pork belly street tacos only with grilled chicken, the meat was so tender and honestly one of the best street tacos I probably ever had. My partner had the steak enchiladas and chips and guacamole which was amazing. We each finished the night off with dessert which we both chose different flavored brownies (not pictured). Food is VERY good. Everything was going great until the check came, my partner realized he left his wallet at home on accident. We needed some time for him to transfer money into my account to satisfy the bill. We literally only needed like 15 uninterrupted minutes so my partner could deposit the money via his online bank to me. Us having to stop and explain everything to her again caused a distraction. The waitress I believe her name was maddy was very impatient. We explained the situation to her as she literally seen my partner eagerly trying to transfer the money to me. She kept returning like every 3-4 minutes asking if we were ready, when clearly we were still trying to get the money into my account. Then she said “my manger needs me to take the check”….which how would you take a check if the payment isn’t enclosed yet? My partner was already irritated at himself that he left his wallet and she showed absolutely no compassion. I understand they were closing but we did NOT plan on that happening. Then she sat at an empty table “folding napkins” … conveniently where the exit was, in which we felt as though she felt like we were trying to walk out. He is a great tipper and her tip was decreased substantially. It was important to my partner and i that our night went perfect and she ruined it. Other than that, everything was great… the music was absolutely excellent, nice cozy environment. I would return but hopefully I have a better more empathetic waitress because she was terrible.

Chips and salsa weren’t great. They only brought out 1 small salsa for 4 people. Chorizo corn dip was delicious. I got the mango fish tacos with the jalapeño cornbread. Both were wonderful. Host seemed to hate her life but our waiter was very nice.

Decent food and safe gluten free options. The chorizo corn dip is fantastic. Service can be hit-or-miss, sometimes excellent and sometimes you get ignored by servers for a long time

Stopped here after a basketball game on Saturday night. We got seater and did not have to wait. The waitress assigned to us was amazing. Great customer service, making sure we were taken care of. I got chicken taco and it was okay, not alot of flavor in it. Corn chowder soup was good. Beef burrito was okay, too much tomatoes placed on top. For me it was average Mexican food since I have eaten plenty in different cities.

We made a reservation here for my husbands 30th birthday. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We had to wait close to 45 minutes to get our table. Since it was denvers restaurant week the place was kinda packed and most of the menu items had gotten over. I wasn’t impressed with the food… we ate a couple of bites because we were starving and we didn’t bother packing up the rest. It was definitely the worst salmon I’ve had in Denver. We had to fill up on chips and salsa because they took forever with our entree. Oh they had run out on some types of salsa as well so that was fun. I gave them 3 stars because the servers were really sweet and apologetic, I know it’s not their fault… the margaritas were yummy too. Just wish that I had taken my husband someplace nicer or actually get him a meal without making him wait for hours on his 30th birthday.

Was really looking forward to my visit here, but I was disappointed. After waiting almost 20 minutes to be acknowledged by our server after being seated, my friend and I ordered margarita flights and our food at the same time. We received our appetizers before our drinks. I ordered the Signature Asada as my entrée. The steak was cooked correctly (medium rare) but only tasted of char from the grill, not much seasoning. The corn tortilla of the enchilada just came unfolded the second I cut into it, and it was more of a rubbery texture. The whole thing lacked any sort of flavor. We hardly saw our server during the course of service. I did enjoy the Buffalo Green Chili. Overall, between the service and the lackluster food, I would not recommend it to my friends and peers.

Let me start by saying this was on New Year’s Eve. Our reservation was for 6:45 PM. When we arrived, the hostess seemed scattered—she was seating walk-ins while several of us with reservations waited for assistance. Once seated, our server was attentive, but the pacing of the meal was disappointing. It took a long time for our food to arrive, and guests who were seated after us were served first. Our entrées even came out before our appetizers. I sent back one of the entrées because the steak was cooked medium-rare instead of medium. The replacement dish was also served medium-rare. The visual of the undercooked beef made my mom nauseous, and she became sick when we got home. I on the other hand enjoyed my food. By the end of the meal, we had to rush through dessert just to make it to the 9 PM fireworks. Our server did comp one of our meals, which he didn’t have to do and was very much appreciated. The $35 three-course meal was a great value, but overall the experience still felt disorganized for such a special evening. A visit during a slower day will most likely provide a much better experience.

ALLOWED US TO BOOK A TABLE (like responsible ppl on super bowl Sunday)...we drove over 2 hrs to celebrate 2 birthdays only to get there to a sign saying they are CLOSED for super bowl... WTH...WE BOOKED... NOTHING ON WEBSITE..... WON'T GO BACK (There were almost 25 ppl on outside PISSED besides us who HAD RESERVATIONS)

We dined here while on winter vacation in Denver. I was just not impressed with this restaurant at all. The waiter constantly forgot our order; she came back to the table twice saying either, "tell me again what you guys wanted" and then "what was the drinks again". Then, after 40 mins, when the food came it was disgusting. We ordered fish tacos as an appetizer but there was barely any fish (attached a photo). If you look at the photo I've attached of my daughters burrito its sitting in watery grease and it was just too large for one person to eat. Just giant and sloppy with soggy lettuce. My dish with the fried onions literally had just 4.5 asparagus, some kind of watery bean liquid under the chicken which made it soggy and too many fried onions. It was not good at all. And the pasta dish was dry with shredded dry cheese on top. Their food is very much over priced for what they serve you. I wished we had just settled for a smashburger. Will never eat here again.

Twilight Zone experience…6 people (3 couples, dear friends) Appetizers pretty good but,had to go get our own silverware..not a big deal Entrees arrive for 2, Lukewarm at best.. oh well .31 dollar steak burrito cold, chili rellenos lukewarm, and no filling! Taco’s arrived..with no tortillas . THIS PLACE doesn’t deserve a space on our 16th street mall !Manager has anger issues she should have left at home.. BOOHISS ! Shame on you Blue Agave Grill

3/10 Food 0/10 Service I truly wanted to enjoy our dinner at Blue Agave, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. Our server, Kristi, was noticeably inattentive and at times came across as rude. We waited a very long time to be acknowledged, and guests who arrived after us were helped before we were. We completely understand when a restaurant is busy, but no table should be overlooked or made to feel less of a priority. When I kindly expressed my concern, the response I received was condescending: “Thanks for your patience, but there are 18 other customers waiting as well.” Meanwhile, we saw multiple servers actively taking care of their tables, yet we remained unattended. My husband and son received their meals, and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for mine. Even after mentioning we wanted to order a beer, no one returned to check on us. My husband ordered a 24oz beer and instead was given an 18oz, almost at the end of our meal. As for the food, it was also underwhelming. The cornbread and soup were great, but the tofu walnut enchiladas were not what I expected. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively, as better service and attention to guests would make a significant difference.

This is the least child friendly place I have ever attended. Food was fine but the approach of the staff with our children was terrible. Our kids were not making noise, crying or screaming. They weren’t bothering other customers. Our toddler occasionally (during the two hours we were there) walked around with a parent who kept her out of harms way and other people’s way. The staff advised us not to let her walk so between the adults we kept her outside while the rest of the family finished the meal. The last time we ate here we noticed there was an irritation with the kids, but this time it was crystal clear. We will not return.

J

Horrible experience for an insanely expensive meal. First margarita was great, and then got a second one that was completely undrinkable, just disgusting. However, the waitress didn’t come back for probably 45 minutes so I couldn’t get a new one - even though there were literally two tables in the whole restaurant. When she came back and I told her how bad it was she said “it was because I made it and I’m still learning” - ok but I came for a nice lunch to enjoy myself and you’re using it to practice when I order a $20 margarita? She took it off the bill but it still sucked because I just wanted to enjoy my day off with a couple margaritas, and couldn’t get a decent one because the service was so terrible that no one checked in after they gave us our food (and there were literally 2 servers working for 2-3 tables). The corn dip and salad were fine and my husband’s $30 Mac and Cheese was mediocre. What restaurant lets someone practice making totally terrible expensive drinks, doesn’t tell them that it’s not a normal bartender making them, and then doesn’t at least come back to check that everything’s ok so they can fix any issues in a timely manner? Not to mention the bill was still $125. Complete waste of time and money for a working mom whose trying to enjoy a rare day off with her family.

This place is exactly what's wrong with Denver's restaurant scene. Over priced and understaffed. Isiah was good, but he couldn't make up for the quality and speed of what came out of the kitchen. The food was edible, but I wouldn't pay for it ever again It was over promised yet under delivered in technique, flavor, and concept. They could learn a lot from Taco Bell.
