MerryKate was my waitress and oh my what a lovely lady! She was so friendly and helpful when asking about the menu items. Love the vibe the staff and restaurant gives. They are known for their beer, however I did not get any personally. You could hear other customers raving about how great the beer is! This place is definitely a Gem in Dunsmuir! You will not be disappointed. P.S. this burger was AMAZING! I could have ate two lol thank you Dunsmuir Brewery!!
This is a fantastic local brewery! Food was amazing, staff super friendly, & the beer was incredible. Over 20 years of making a solid quality beer without all the pretentious fuss of so many microbreweries. Totally worth stopping in Dunsmuir to grab a bite & beer to go. And freshly poured Crowlers canned right in front of you! Nothing but praise for this gem of a place!!!
First visit to Dunsmuir, decided to give this place a try. Spicy chicken sandwich was easily in the top 3 I’ve ever had. I travel frequently across the country for work and the chicken sandwich is my go to choice. This place rocked it! Friendly staff and speedy service! Recommend 10 out of 10 times!
Fantastic food and hospitality on a quiet mid-February night. Ale and IPA balanced and fresh. Elk burger and Smoked Salmon BLT were delicious. Really great food in an authentic setting.
We stop in Dunsmuir for lunch when we are headed north on I5. We were too late for our usual lunch place, it closes at 12:00. We decided to try the Brewery works. It looks funky from the outside. The food we were served was great. I had a Ruben, and my wife had an elk burger. My only complaint is that the Ruben was so big I was unable to find room for a real dinner that night. I had to settle for a salad! My wife had one of their beers and found it to be good. The service was good. Back again in Feb 2024. Did I learn the first time? Nope, had the same huge Ruben then tried to snowshoe at McCloud. Results were troublesome! Had to go for the salad that night once again! Same good service.
Excellent food and wonderful service we will be back!!! Great find in Dunsmuir.
Dropped in for a beverage and Mary Kate was amazing at helping us decide which beer to choose. She was super attentive, catering to our indecisiveness with patience and kindness. She let my friend and I chat for a while without making us feel we should finish up & get out. The beer was tasty, the building was warm, prices are good and plenty of close parking.
Love the ambience. Very quaint and relaxing. We went around 530pm. Food was delicious. We had the spicy chicken sandwich and my husband got the elk burger. Next time I’ll try the ribs if they are on specify. They looked delicious!!
Solid brew stuff and really tasty food. Service was quick and friendly. I had the elk burger and it was all delicious. The side salad good too despite being soaked in dressing. I also like the grill was outside so they don't smoke up the tiny seating area inside. Definitely will be coming again the next time I'm up in Shasta area.
I had the best burger here I've had in awhile. Fresh ingredients and excellently prepared. Service was great. They have great beer. Seriously very good beer. All their beers were good. They also had a local musician on Saturday night which I hear is a regular occurrence. Warm atmosphere, but not a lot of inside seating-kinda cramped honestly but you'll want to stay awhile any ways. A lot of locals hang out here because it's the best place to eat and drink in town.
We live in town and are really happy to have a place to eat that consistently serves great food.
I was visiting Dunsmuir with my family and we decided to try the Brewery. I have four kids, the youngest just 8 months old. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful as we ordered. The baby was fussy, so I stepped out to walk her while the rest of my family stayed inside. Eventually, I got her to sleep, but had to keep holding her so she wouldn’t wake up. It was a lot to juggle in the moment, and I really appreciated the excellent service we received. The food was fantastic—I had the Reuben, and it was great. When it came time to pay, I was trying to manage everything with one free arm and must have dropped some loose cash from my back pocket. Later that night, I realized over $100 was missing and felt so frustrated. The only place I could think it might have fallen out was the Brewery, so I called them. To my surprise, they had found my money! I was so grateful. It would have been easy for whoever picked it up to keep it, but the staff held onto it and made sure it got back to me. We’re from Arizona, but we have family in the Redding/Mt. Shasta area, and we’ll absolutely keep coming back to Dunsmuir Brewery. Huge thanks to everyone there—you’re amazing.
Nice place with bear service. I'm not sure about allergen information as I didn't peruse the menu much, but they have vegetarian options. I had beer cheese soup and it was nice. I hope to come back one of their Clam Chowder Fridays sometime.
This place is a total gem. The elk burger made my boyfriend a convert, and he raved about the wings. I thought the beer was great, love that they have a half pint pour. We are definitely coming back next time we’re in town. Also the owner said he’d been there for something like 17 years (!!) and smokes the wings, brews the beer, and makes special clam chowder. Killer spot, don’t sleep on it!
I've been visiting DBW for a good two decades now, and I'm always happy to be there. They tend to have a few beers of their own in addition to guest taps - but I always go for something they've brewed. On my latest visits, I was genuinely impressed by the Trainhopper IPA - it's 90 IBU, but carries it really well, with a lot of citrus and a bit of haze. The food has always been quite good - and on my latest visits seemed even better than ever. Quality ingredients, good preparation. Service is always great. It's one of my happy places.
Good service and one of the best Reuben sandwiches I've ever had.
This place was very comfortable and friendly. The beer was fantastic and the pastrami sandwich and clam chowder were delicious! Mary Kay was so accommodating, fun and friendly. The playlist of music was awesome! overall great experience.
A great experience all the way around. The staff goes above and beyond in how it treats guests. They really made it easy for a tired family on the road. Shout out to Johnny for the Hot Wheels for the kids (and dad!). Food was tasty and hit the spot. Strong red is classic.
Stumbled upon this cozy Brewery by accident. Met the owner, Aaron in the parking lot and he invited us in before opening hours for a beer. Excellent beer, service and enjoyed an outstanding Elk Burger. Highly Recommend!
Fabulous place to eat! We sat outside in their garden area, all tables had umbrellas which was great as it started to thunder and rain but we could stay outside! Food was amazing and staff was so friendly. They make their own microbrew and root beer. Glad we arrived in town before they closed. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in town or passing through Dunsmuir!
Just had the clam chowder, heavenly best clam chowder I have had. We also enjoyed our favorite Pesto Muscles, delicious. On top of that I had the Mahi Mahi street tacos so good. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, if you can sit outside enjoy the mountains. My husband had the Blood Sweat and Tears IPA, definitely a good one. This place is a hidden jewel stop if you get a chance.
I stopped into Dunsmuir Brewery Works for a Brat and Beer. They have the best warm German potato salad and picked up 2 extra German potato salad sides to take home! I actually try and schedule my trips between Oregon and California along Interstate 5 when Dunsmuir Brewery Works is open just to stop in for a great meal! Give Dunsmuir Brewery Works German Pub a try; they'll have you coming back for more! They have a wonderful beer selection! Do yourself a favor and give them a try! Beer was great, Burger was great and the Duck tacos..well, not great. They were salty and it just didn't work for me as a street taco (didn't finish them). I will add though, the server was awesome, set aside a second table for the rest of our group that wasn't there quite yet. I'll stop here again if I'm in town..
Great beer, amazing food, friendly staff, and dog friendly 🙂 They even brought a water bowl out for our dog. We love seeing the hops growing near our table when sitting outside. Lastly, the clam chowder on Friday nights is AMAZING! We will always stop here when traveling through or staying in the area.
Fantastic stop! Delicious mussels, great music, and super friendly staff. Perfect place to unwind.
I was going to write a super long review extolling the incredible food but all I can say is this is some of the best food I've had, ever! I'll literally drive 2hrs to come to Dunsmuir for the Elk burger, clam chowder, and german potato salad. The master chef, Silver, let us know he's perfected the elk burger and he was not lying, thanks for the amazing food and we will definitely be back!

Went there on a rainy day. Had the salmon blt, pretzel and imperial red beer. The salmon blt was amazing, huge amount of salmon, big bunch of fresh lettuce and tomato. Great food and beer. Mellow ambiance, nice server. Highly recommend.
9.5/10. I had the Reuben, warm German potato salad, and a Good Boy Porter — perfect combination. The porter rivaled the best porter in existence- Diamond Knot Possession Porter, of course. Only docking half a point because a 10 means it can’t literally get better… but next time I’m through, it just might somehow? The staff even brought unopened Hot Wheels cars to my two kids when we sat down. Thoughtful service like that is rare. Great food, excellent beer, standout team. Highly recommend.
The brewery always has really good food. It is kind of expensive but definitely something to be expected when you go to a brewery. I really like the summertime with the music that’s outside and there is the little park that’s next-door that you can send your kids to when they’re done eating their food
The mussels. OMG. soooo good. We always try different things on the menu as well and they do not disappoint! Be sure to make it in time for the clam chowder!!!

Elk Burger was amazing, BLT was also great, good amount of vegetarian options. Beer, cider, & lemonade was also good. The restaurant offered open faced burgers, and also had a good ambience. The service was a little bit slow, with us waiting for 30+ minutes for the food to come & 10+ minutes for the server to come to our table, even though at the time of seating we told her that we were ready to order.
Great place for beer and cooked to order local food. The water is from a spring and makes the beer very fresh and crisp. We did the sampler and loved the ipa and stout. We had clam chowder- a must on Fridays and a Caesar salad as a light lunch as we were driving up I5. Overall amazing service and super good beers. A must stop anytime we are near dunsmuir- also grab a bar of there nice beer soap it’s great for the wintery dry skin.
Popular place with good beer and food (4/5 green stars) I sat inside initially but then realized that outside is a nicer experience and moved to an outside table with a view of the forested hills. Staff members were busy but helpful and efficient - best to arrive when less busy. They were out of nut burgers to my dismay, so I had their eggplant-pepper-portabella sandwich instead. I wanted a side of German potato salad but the server guessed I was vegetarian and helpfully pointed out that it has bacon in it. So I had a side of seasonal veggies instead, which turned out to be grilled corn on the cob. Everything with the food was good – the eggplant was nicely cooked (eggplant often differentiates cooks from bad) and you can’t really go wrong with corn on the cob! The bun was nice too. Beer: Tried a sample of the rusty spike. It was good but I went for the Four Keys honey copper ale in the end and liked it: it had a lot of hoppy character, but balanced with honey. Next, I had the Smokey the Beer – a very nice English-style brown ale made with smoked malt and chocolate malt. Kind of like a smoky, chocolatey Newcastle Brown Ale, or Fort Point's Westfalia but with more body. $5 for each beer and $10.50 for the sandwich w/ side of corn. I’m also giving them 4/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • Beer is brewed on site, reducing the carbon and material footprints (transportation and packaging). • They will fill growlers to-go, again reducing packaging. • I think everything they serve is made in-house (or locally, like the baps). • Decent selection of plant-based / vegetarian options (I think some can be modified for vegans). • They could do with posting more info (on menu or website, etc.) on ingredient sourcing. • They have a little hop garden next door – partly for educational purposes but it looks like they can harvest enough for limited-batch brews. Nice idea. • For the Four Keys beer they use local honey and for Smokey the Beer they smoke their own malt. Find out more about green-star ratings at Green Stars Project dot org.
Dog friendly outdoor patio :-) Super friendly people. The food is excellent and the beers were on point as far as the styles they represented. They have a marzen that will rock your socks! When we were there the kitchen was crazy backed up and so it took a long time to get food, but the weight staff was attentive and kept us updated and even gave me a complimentary half pint due to the long wait time.

4 stars for the beer & food; 1 star for the cleanliness of the outside patio. We were there tonight and it doesn’t look like it has been swept or hosed off for months - dirt and very old plastic straw wrappers under our table, leaves, etc. It doesn’t take that much effort to keep it clean; also need to do something more to refuse the flies - very annoying. They had 2 of their own beers on tap snd 4 guest taps.
It’s 2024. And every person I’ve ever talked to wants fries with their burger not mass produced potato chips or half decent salad or potato salad. Went there today and there wasn’t a soul in there, but I drove by yaks and pipeline and they were packed out. Also, the burger was bland and needed seasoning or at least salt.
Overall went here twice, on a Friday and Saturday night. Friday night - ate out the street so we just ordered drinks although food smelled good, made note to try again. Beer was good not great. Also tried the root beer which they brew on site, it was also good not great. Live music and dog friendly environment which was a plus. Also of note, they still were serving food after 8, which is when they said they closed, so kudos to them. Rating the first night 4/5 stars Saturday night. Arrived around 7:45 and was able to grab the last open table outside. Ordered a Salmon BLT, which was excellent, with a side Caesar and another root beer. Had same waitress as previous night, but no real banter or discussion. The other waitress there was more lively and engaging with the other patrons. Never received the root beer, when I questioned it on the bill she asked if I wanted it in a to go cup. Also no refill on water, despite it being in the 80s still (over 100 during the day). Maybe waiter was having a bad day, They were still serving food at 8:45 when we left, so a plus for extended hours. Score for second visit 2/5. Overall 3/5 for inconsistency. Pretty good food and hope to luck out on the service side
Visiting the nearby state park and stayed in a local campground. While here we stopped at this place on a Friday evening for a couple beers and they had live music, which was pretty good. So, as we had another night in the area decided to stop here for dinner. The elk burger and salmon blt were quite good and came quickly. However, the service was quite lackluster.

Honestly was not impressed at all!! food options are very slim n the fact that they don’t even have fries was kinda shocking since they mainly only serve burgers.. Our experience would have probably been better if we didn’t have such a terrible waiter, she didn’t seem like she enjoys her job very much and I literally had to go in and grab someone to get the check because our waiter forgot about us and never came back to check on us after delivering us our food.. don’t think I’ll be coming back to this place ever again.
