Love the frozen custard there. It beats Abbott's in my opinion. Other ice cream is delicious but I favor custard. A very clean and adorable addition to Fairport with specialty chocolates and confections. I bought an ice cream cake for my granddaughter's birthday and it was adorable.

Tons of flavors of all varieties. As it was our first time there, the employee working the register was extremely helpful in explaining everything about the ice cream, the process of making it, and letting us try samples. Ice cream tasted delicious and natural.

Some of the best ice cream around. So many choices to choose from, while having a relaxing environment to relax in. The seasonal flavors are some of the best! They also have other desserts to such as truffles to huge rice krispy treats. Once your are finished a nice walk by the water is ideal.

This place is amazing. Kind of hidden from the main street in fairport, but I kid you not they have the best oatmeal ice cream ever. I also really like that they are right next to the canal so you can walk right outside with your ice cream and sit near the water. It's pretty nice that they have coffee options here as well, and a high end espresso machine which they use to make affogato. A must try if you live nearby.

Really cute little ice cream place, kind of hidden away but worth visiting. It's easiest to park in the underground library parking and walk over, as there's only street parking otherwise. It's well-positioned to walk to/from the rest of Fairport as well, and in the summer it's nice to stop here and pick up a milkshake before walking around. If you want to sit and enjoy the weather there's also some great outdoor seating right out in front - next to the canal and shaded.

Made from scratch ice cream is amazing! Even the basic chocolate and vanilla are great. It's a cafe as well so they also offer a shot of espresso over ice cream which is delightful.

It's a little hard to find, back away from most of the other restaurants and shops, but well worth the hunt! There are plenty of flavors to choose from and even some dairy-free ice cream options, as well as fine chocolates and other interesting things. Also, their bowls and spoons are compostable!

I love ice cream! I have a little everyday. I am picky about my flavors. I don't mind spending a little more for good quality ice cream. This is by far the best ice cream in Fairport of course and also in Rochester! The flavors, sow my wild oats and I can't remember the name but it was a butterscotch and had Harry Potter in desciption anyway amazing. If you like coffee ice cream the coffee beck is for you if only I could describe how decadent it is. My 8 year olds favorite one. I can't get past those 3 to try a different one. I have sampled a few more flavors which were amazing as well. The staff even the owners are so friendly, they will take a few min if they aren't busy to talk to you and your family ask for opinion and thank you for coming in. It is a bit pricey compared to most places but in my opinion I would rather pay a little more for quality. I used to go to Brusters, then I found this place! Always tell people how wonderful it is and they have to try it

I was worried id spend more then what i wanted or read about for ice cream waffle cones but it wasnt bad priced it was a nice store , clean, and the guy working earlier today was friendly and polite and gave me 2 cups that prevented ice cream waffle cone spill for free! For the people saying the empolyees suck well not all of them do apparently. :) this was our first time there eill be back again

This place is such an enjoyable experience, and I cannot wait to return every time I walk out the door! Don’t be afraid to try some of the crazy flavors or toppings, they are so well crafted and you can count on the staff’s expertise to guide some new tastes. You can taste the difference in quality, there’s probably no such thing as healthy ice cream but if you care at all about what goes into your body, at least get ice cream here. once you have Moonlight’s ice cream, nothing else compares.

Wow! Great homemade ice cream. The blackberry rose was phenomenal. We also got some rainbow cake pops that were awesome. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Great location if you want to get some ice cream and sit by the canal (or stay inside in the air conditioning and just enjoy a view of the canal). This will definitely become a recurring favorite for us.

This is our go-to place for ice cream. We live in Fairport, and they always have a unique selection of top quality ice creams. They also sell truffles, and some other unique items (sodas and cookies). Highly recommended.

After being here only once, this is a yum rating of amazing. They make their own ice cream and not just normal flavors, they extend into thoughtfulness with "Lime in the Coconut". This is worth going over and trying. Even if ice cream isn't your thing, there is more including pie and desserts. First impression is that they are amazing, I will be going back.

I bought my Mom the dairy free ice cream, hoping it would be decent. It was beyond fantastic! So rich and creamy, without any funky texture or aftertaste. She's thrilled to be able to enjoy her favorite dessert again.

Amazing ice cream! Just make sure you get one of the flavors in the white tubs which they make in house with local ingredients. I got the oatmeal ice cream which, if you like oatmeal, was so delicious. Very creamy, not too sweet and very satisfying. My kids were drawn to the truffles in animal shapes which were good as well. They have seating inside. And best part is that they are open during the winter as well.

Moonlight Creamery is hidden gem in Fairport, tucked between the back of the Fairport Parking Garage and the Erie Canal. My friend and I accidently stumbled upon this place back in 2020 when we were cruising in our cars and decided we wanted to get ice cream. I've been coming here fairly regularly now. It's a great place to get ice cream and either go for a walk when it's nice out or sit inside on a colder day. I love the peaceful hum of freezers and the cozy atmosphere inside. It's a perfect place to go on a date for ice cream or coffee. They offer a wide variety of flavors, including many that are made in-house. (white ice cream buckets) The owner and staff are all pleasant. I highly recommend Moonlight Creamery! Tasty homemade ice cream flavors. Convenient hours. Friendly staff. Perfect location to walk along the canal.

Moonlight creamery has some great ice cream, and even better customer service. Mikey went above and beyond all expectations - the fact that he is not the owner was semi mind blowing. I have had worse customer service when ordering at 4 star restaurants, let alone a hidden Ice cream gem tucked away in the village of Fairport. We love ice cream, and indulge in it only when we find homemade. We were on a 4 day ride on the canal and got ice cream in every port we stopped. Moonlight creamery was not only the best ice cream on our trip but the best ice cream we have ever had. We are planning the 2hr trip back just to get it again. Hope they have our favorite flavor. I would like to add to my review...over 6yrs later, I have done nothing but dream about this place and tried to find an excuse to drive over 2hrs just for this ice cream. Low and behold, had to go to U of R for an MRI and was driving back when we saw the sign for Fairport. OMG, am I so glad we took the 3mi detour! Even more amazing than I remember. The frozen cocoa and to sow my wild oats are the best! So creamy! Only wish I could have it shipped! Here's hoping it's not another 6yrs before we get here again!

Staff is always friendly and the ice cream is amazing. They also have great nondairy sorbet and other treats. You pay an extra buck or two here, but it's in a great spot on the canal, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and easy parking. Grab an ice cream and walk Main Street or the canal. Both of the times I have been to the Moonlight Creamery, I have had the best time. Staff are friendly and helpful, the ice creams have been enticing and delicious. Specifically, we love their oatmeal ice cream - creamy, decadent and soothing to the soul. They always have new and interesting flavours that their ice cream maestro is constantly developing - charming and delightful! Some may say that it may be a little pricey for ice cream. I say it's worth every penny. We're huge fans.

My family loves the ice cream! There are so many good flavors. Unfortunately for me, I can't eat it anymore due to a new legume allergy. The worker was very helpful and kept trying to find something that I could eat. He even brought the ingredient labels for me to see.

Me and my boyfriend came in on Valentine's day and the man working that night was an absolute sweetheart. I stood in front of the truffles for at least 5 minutes (no one else was there at the time) and he just talked to us like we where old friends of his. I got 3 of them and loved every single one. Absolutely wonderful food and that man working was fabulous.

Looooooove this place! Their flavors are both insanely creative and delicious! They are completely made in house! There is always something new to try. I fell for their NY Sugar Maple & Candied Bacon - HARD. Also, don’t be afraid to try their balsamic vinegars on your ice creams. It sounds wild, but pair them just right and your ice-cream taste buds will never be the same again! And the owner, Mikey, has the warmest smile. He could easily melt an igloo with it. Ask him for recommendations!

This a small place, packed with good taste and charm. I enjoyed the Wicked Chocolate and my friend had Peanut butter cookie dough. Both were very delicious! Nicely decorated and clean. Amazing ice cream shop in the village right on the canal. 90-95% of their ice cream is made in the shop. They have so many choices of flavors to choose from, they have something for everyone, including a few non dairy options. Prices are extremely reasonable and the people who run is are extremely accommodating.

Excellent flavor to their home made icreams! Went up to Rochester to see my son at college and stopped in for desert. The owner is a great guy and has a beautiful shop right by the Erie Canal Bridge. Was an awesome experience. He found out my son loved rubber ducks and gave us a large NY duck for him(which he loved). We will be back next trip up!

Creative flavors, great service- lady at the counter walked us through our first time and gave us perfect recommendations. The ice cream is airy but thick at the same time with such a rich taste. Tried strawberry, oats, mint, and cherry which were all stellar. We did an ice cream sampler which let us try one scoop of 4 flavors for $9. They have other desserts and drinks available as well.

Simply the best, most natural, authentic, and creative ice cream there is. First note, I am not even an "ice cream kind of person". My hubby and I are visiting friends who live in Fairport and they know my husband is an ice cream enthusiast and wanted for us to experience Moonlight Creamery. We had already tasted it when said friends brought samples to Philadelphia ( our home) last year. We loved it then but live and fresh surpassed our expectations. Mikey ( the owner) heard our story, and the fact that ice cream is not my "thing", and quickly converted me with his genius recipe's, exposure to various variations, and w/ creativity one can only experience w/ the finest chefs. Mikey's wild stories and crazy kindness made my night a special treat that will not be forgotten. Thanks Mikey, we will be back!!!

This place is fantastic! Not only were our treats amazing but the staff were wonderful and the place is so cute! Our crew of 5 had 3 with celiac and Mikey who helped us (I would assume is an owner or manager because he clearly loves his job) was so gracious and accommodating. This is rare for us to not seem like an inconvenience and to have someone who seemed pleased to be able to help us and others with food allergies. He was so patient as we wrangled 3 kiddos and figured out what everyone wanted. He suggested a modification in order to please a celiac kid and really made her feel great. They had 2 different gluten free cones which never happens! With celiac, soft serve is typically the only thing we can have and often feels disappointing but their in-house made soft serve was incredible! It wasn’t settling at all and I would continue to get it even if I could have the flavored ones. We recently went to the other ice cream shop by the bridge (with only one celiac person) and the experience stunk. I definitely felt like a nuisance when I asked the staff if they had anything GF for me to get and was handed a package to read myself. Mikey clearly works to make everyone feel included and welcome- and goes the extra mile to see smiles on all faces! Thank you Mikey and team :)

Amazing. You know the homemade waffle cones are going to be good when you can smell their vanilla-y freshness when you walk in the door! Plus the ice cream flavors are out of the box enough to be creative w/ a touch fancy but simple enough to win on taste alone. I got a mini w/ half "Sow Your Wild Oats"; brown sugar ice cream with whole grain oats through out- it was the best, I'd definitely get it again. Also got half scoop Cherry Blossom which had chunks of frozen cherries without being soggy. A waffle cone on the side to keep my ice cream portion mini was perfect 😋

He even gave our son a brownie of his own, as a gift, which had come from his mother’s for Valentine’s Day! We loved the chocolate, brown sugar oatmeal, Pb fudge swirl and praline ice creams. Amazing and generous ice cream servings! They have a huge variety if flavors, many are unique. Staff are warm and efficient. We recently tried the roasted strawberry and Annie Wants S'mores and they were excellent.

Move over Pittsford Dairy! Moonlight Creamery is the place for ice cream for me. In my opinion, the ice cream here is a lot more flavorful. For instance, the pistachio ice cream here tasted like popping pistachio nuts right into your mouth, and the wild blueberry flavor tasted like blueberries straight off the vine. Both were really rich and creamy. I really recommend getting the waffle cone. I love that they let you get two flavors even in the smallest cone. Definitely more on the pricey side though. They also sell Moonstruck chocolates and other goodies.

The positive: The quality of the ice cream is amazing. I got a milkshake made with 4 scoops of ice cream, my choice. I did 2 black raspberry and 2 vanilla and it was incredible. There are lots of flavors to choose from, their website lists them with certain flavors in their shop daily. Plenty of parking across the street in the parking garage and a small park nearby that faces the canal. The seating is limited outside as well as inside, I imagine on a busy day you would either need to take it to go or eat it on the run. The staff is nice and cheerful and make sure your order is correct. The negative: Very slow wait time. There were 4 people ahead of me with 2 people working and I must have waited 10 minutes just to order. I tried to order a Creamsicle float and the girl asked me what that was and after confirming she went to see if they had any orange soda in stock and they didn't. After moving down the line to the check out I noticed a case of orange soda on the floor behind the counter. The price is a little high, $7.50 for a milkshake but considering the quality I would be willing to pay that amount for a special treat. I would go back again but am hesitant to on a nice day because I think I would have to wait upwards of 30+ minutes to get an order of ice cream if it was busy. The seating also concerns me as there are only a few tables in the park and inside. But overall the quality was really good and the staff was nice and I did have a good experience.

This place is beautifully located right next to the canal. Of the weather is nice, most of the people get an ice cream and then go hangout by the canal.

Lady, would not give us our chocolates until we checked out. Not sure if we looked like we were going to run away without paying. However, the ice cream was very good we had tiramisu. After we paid, all was good.

The ice cream is good but who is the genius who assigned only 2 workers on a Saturday that has a temperature of 80?! There was lots of customers and the owner should have anticipated that! A bit of a stubbed toe on April 15th.

Can’t get a sample?!?! They have 20 + flavors and most sound unique, but you could never tell because they don’t allow the customers to sample. I had to get a flavor that was familiar to me. I asked the guy if the orange cardamom was any good and he said “ I wouldn’t get it”. I got black raspberry, it was okay, nothing special, but for the price you would have thought it would have been better.

Overpriced, $1.25 each for three stale waffle cones, AND to top it off, they no longer offer samples. So be prepared to potentially regret your decision. An itty-bitty is $5, that's their smallest size! Seriously save yourself a trip, they don't even make their own ice cream 🫤. My daughter wanted to try the strawberry sorbet and the strawberry ice cream, to see which one she liked better. The scooper of ice cream told us one is made with dairy and the sorbet is not. My daughter simply wanted to taste which had the most flavor. There are countless other ice cream places in the area that make their own ice cream AND allow you to taste the flavors before paying for it. I will not be coming back for ice cream anytime soon. Sadly, we used to like this place. Bottom line I left disappointed. Stale waffle cones and meh ice cream left a really sour taste in my mouth.

The ice cream itself was solid, nothing special but fine. However, the staff was extremely rude. They refused to give out samples (which is honestly part of the ice cream-buying experience) and when I asked for a cup instead of a cone, the employee acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about and said he “couldn’t put it in a coffee cup.” There are plenty of other great ice cream spots around, so I’d avoid supporting this place in the future. The ice cream isn't good enough to justify such poor customer service.

Good ice cream, but they deprive you of the age-old sampling experience. The flavor names don't always reveal what the flavor profile will be. Getting a few samples is how customers choose flavors and enjoy broadening their horizons. The owner even defended the practice to me as some sort of sustainability initiative. He seemed put off that I would have even expected to sample the flavors. Weird.

Love the ice cream. Service was subpar. I don’t blame the kids working there. They were working their tails off. One teenage handling the whole operation. Shame on the owners.

Not good. Ordered for delivery- They forgot a portion of the order, the “hot fudge” is actually just chocolate pudding, and the mint chocolate ice cream just tasted like peppermint schnapps. Completely inedible and would not recommend.

I walked in today at 4:50 October 10. My daughter asked for a cone and three flavors. The worker there heard 1 flavor so she gave her all of one flavor. My daughter then politely told her that she had asked for mango, vanilla, and pineapple. She snatched it back from my daughters hand and huffed and sighed and just created a big deal. Rolling her eyes at us because she misheard us. Then she proceeded to hive her back all three flavors she wanted but purposely giving her the tiniest amount.

Bad service today. Rude and inappropriate. No reason they couldn’t be nice.

One star for the simple fact that they don't make their own ice cream but go out of their way to make it sound like they do. Maybe most of their stuff is homemade and they just happen to have some Gifford's to fill in some space? Either way if I go to a shop expecting homemade ice cream there shouldn't be some mix in flavors from a regional creamery. And be up front about it. I won't be back.

My husband and I were driving through the area and were up for some coffee. This place had great reviews and we wanted to try somewhere local and not a chain so we stopped in here to try it out. It seemed like a nice place and they seemed to have a great selection of coffees, teas, ice cream, and chocolates. The man behind the counter seemed to be changing out ice cream flavors or something of that nature when we walked in. He didn't look up or even acknowledge we had walked in or were at the counter looking at the coffee menu. He said nothing to us and continued to work on ice cream. No one else came to the counter. Four other patrons were there but at tables drinking coffee and talking. We decided on what we wanted to order. The man never greeted us, continued not to acknowledge we were even there, and continued to work with the ice cream even after my husband walked passed him to the other end of the counter. After about 5 minutes we ended up leaving not buying anything because we couldn't get the guy's acknowledgement to even place an order. Maybe it is good, if one can actually receive service.
