Can't believe it's not more expensive. Considering the crazy costs of quality things nowadays it's awesome that Derek's can provide one one the best cheesecakes for a fair price. If you are on a budget go to the grocery store, however if you are looking to treat yourself stop here!
OMG I’m crazy with this bake whole Dulce Banana cream pie Wonderful delicious!!!
Went in today for the first time and was blown away by the wide selection of goodies. Abby highly recommended the Key Lime Pie and she was right! It’s so delicious. I can’t wait to bring my son by after school for a treat!
Wow! The best. The guava white chocolate cookie was recommended last night and OMGOSH! The BEST cookie I’ve ever had hands down. The guys working were awesome. And the carrot cake is without question the absolute best carrot cake that exists. We’ve had a ton of slices from this place, and everything is off the charts delicious. The brownie!! Yum. Thank you for coming to Fort Lauderdale!
Amazing pies. I purchased the cookie butter one today and my expectations were exceeded. The manager Chelsea helped me decide what flavor to choose and she did not steer me wrong. She was so sweet and helpful I will definitely be back for more!
Shocked the reviews here are so low. See a lot of people complaining about price. It’s 2025, everything is expensive lol. This place is fantastic. Everything we got was extremely fresh. Just very very good all around. The workers were extremely helpful, fast and efficient. Great place. Can’t believe I drove past it daily for 2 years and didn’t go.
The birthday cake was just meh in my opinion but holy moly the pie. THE PIE. I got a slice of Nutella pie and Banana Cream for my spouse and we ended up just splitting them because they were both so good. If I didn’t have a flight back home I would’ve gone in the morning to get a whole Nutella pie. The crust to filling ratio is fantastic, the filling is SO silky and so flavorful. I would weigh 500lbs if I lived near this place.
Someone brought a whole carrot cake to Thanksgiving and I managed to get a slice of my own to take home and I swear it is the best carrot cake I’ve had in my whole life. Full of all kinds of unexpected ingredients that somehow worked. Highly recommend!
Wow...this was an amazing place to come for some dessert. I visited this location of Fireman Dereks for my first-ever Yelp Elite Event and it did not disappoint. After checking in I received a giant goody bag from the two friendly staff working in the evening. I got a slice of key lime pie, cake in a jar, a giant cookie, and a hat. Luckily, I brought two friends to share with me because I would definitely not have been able to finish it all myself. Every single item tasted amazing and satisfied all of my sweet cravings. Their pies looked especially good. I would come back to try their coconut cream pie or NY-style cheesecake. This seems to be a new location and it deserves to get all the attention. The store is clean and has ample seating. Can't wait for my next visit
what an amazing holiday ambiance here at fireman dereks bake shop. I’m used to going to the location in wynwood, but this newer location in Fort Lauderdale is way more relaxed and hospitality focused. always a great selection, and amazing personalities working in the back. I wish I could leave more stars because of their cookie butter pie and the help I get when I’m not sure what pie to get.
This is my favorite dessert spot to visit in Fort Lauderdale. The staffs are sweet, polite and attentive. My favorite pie is definitely the Dulce Banana ✨✨❤️ highly recommend

Some of the best cakes and cookies I've ever had. The red velvet cake is top tier, and the heath bar cookie is to die for.
Best cakes & desserts!!! Staff are so friendly and kind and make the experience so much fun!! Can’t wait to continue coming back!
Smells amazing walking in. Brittany was so kind and helpful. She helped me pick out the right pie and cookie and cake jar. Everything was amazing! So glad I came here. Great brand and great products. Will be back. Prices are not as high as people say because for the quality its so reasonable. Ive seen way more expensive for less quality. 😅
The people who work there aren’t overly nice or anything, but they do their job. That’s not why you’re here anyway, you’re here for the treats! I’ve had the cookies, cakes and cheesecakes, and I’d spend my last dollar on any of them. Chewy cookies, moist, rich cake, and literally the best cheesecake I’ve ever had, and cheesecake is my go to everywhere. If you’re in the fence, hop over it, it’s so, so worth it.

I stopped by around 9:30 P.M. on Saturday night and tried the oreo cheesecake and it was awesome, yes the slice is small for the price. Customer service was excellent no complaints, but I so agree with most reviews the slice should definitely be larger @ 12 dollars a slice.
Nutella cookie pie was great, smores brownie pretty good, Cookie Monster pie was overhyped.
Definitely an unusual bakery specializing in cakes and pies. Mostly are available by the slices at $ 9.50, pretty pricey. But they are delicious.
Very good got the Oreo cheesecake. Very fresh little expensive $11 and change for slice. Def worth a try
This place is solid. Strawberry cheesecake was better than the Oreo. It’s definitely a good cheesecake but I’d say to bring it to the next level it would have to be a bit more creamier and rich. Good spot though.

Our party of 4 loved the pies! We all got something different and shared tastes. All choices were great. I’m ordering a pecan pie for thanksgiving ‘cause it was great.

My husband and I live in the area, and have been looking forward to Fireman Derek’s opening up a new location here for some time. We just stopped in and grabbed a slice of guava cheesecake to the tune of almost $10 for a single piece. The prices aren’t listed anywhere, and we were not offered a receipt. While the cheesecake was delicious, I don’t know that we will be willing to pay $10 for a slice of dessert any time soon.
I’ve always loved Fireman Derek’s, so I was excited when the Fort Lauderdale location opened. I left a star rating during their first year but held off on writing a detailed review to give them some time to settle in. Unfortunately, even after waiting, I feel the experience falls short. The staff seems disengaged, and the overall vibe is lacking. It’s a completely different atmosphere from what I’ve experienced at the Wynwood and Coral Gables locations, both before and after expansion. On my last visit, I went to order my usual and was told they were out of stock, even though I could see a full cake in the fridge. I was told it was for display only, which was frustrating. I continue to go because I know what I want, but the lackluster environment makes it hard to recommend to newcomers. When I do bring someone, I always warn them that the Miami locations offer a much better experience. As for pricing, while I’ve seen comments mentioning that it’s steep, I don’t think the quality of the cake is comparable to what you’d find at local diners nearby. I hope things improve over time. —- I would like to add on my last two visits they have been out of stock of the items I usually buy. There is no direct phone number to contact this location.
This review is for delivery via Door Dash. Back in town for a few months so we decided to try Fireman Derek's for that occassional sweet tooth craving. Had visited a decade ago and it was pretty awesome, but this time around via delivery, verdict more on the good but not great side of the house. One Salted Caramel Pie ( signature crack pie, lol) and 1 Carrot Cake slice and $35 later (delivery fees sure add up!) it may be awhile before doling out that amount of greenbacks again for a dose of added sugar and calories. The crack pie still good, but the carrot cake slice to be honest, was just meh, ok. Perhaps a dine-in experience as well as a reduced out of pocket expense would have resulted in a much higher review, perhaps.

I’d heard of this bakery in Wynwood-Miami and was driving by this location and gave it a shot. There is a display of cakes and pies and a small display of cookies next to the register. The items are also listed on the wall, however there is no pricing listed which is the scam this business is pulling along with an included 10% tip. I ordered the coconut cream pie slice which came to $8.99. It was a disappointing portion for that price. The taste was OK and nothing that would make me come back. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my in-laws who I don’t like much at all. Fireman Derek is giving a bad name to Firemen all over the country.
Being completely honest, the pie was very good. Although pricey, you go to any restaurant (full service or fast casual) and you’re going to pay around $10 for a piece of quality pie or cake. What I wasn’t a fan of was that there are no prices posted anywhere in the shop (only reason I can assume is because the price of items must change frequently?) and the unfriendly service. We were the only people that walked in and there were 2 employees in the back. One of them came out and did not say 1 word to us. No “welcome in” or “what can I get for you?” He just stared at us until we ordered. If you’re going to add an automatic 10% “service charge” at least have friendly and welcoming staff. As someone who worked in the service/hospitality industry, charging the 10% service charge is unnecessary. People tip, especially with the type of point of sale system that this business uses.
I’ve been purchasing desserts from here for the past year at least once or twice a month. Lately the serving size has been smaller and quality not as good especially the red velvet cheesecake. I just bought a slice today at the at it was smaller than Cheesecake Factory slice and was not set, the middle of the cheesecake was runny, yuk!
No Pie is worth 50 bucks! Absurd! When I ordered a milk shake the lady working the counter was almost puzzled by my order! I dunno man! A lotta Hype and not much quality. The fact that NO ONE respond to any of the bad reviews reinforces the bad service trend starts from the Top! When the owners dont care staff dont care. The Apple Pie at Costco blows this thing out of the water. Go back to the fireman job leave the baking to The Baker
Slice of Red Velvet is nothing special, certainly not worth $11. Grasshopper was fresh and delicious, smore brownie very good as well- enjoyed the cookie layer. Low rating for prices not being displayed in store or online and when I asked for a receipt, "we're out of paper". Other customers claimed to be charged different amounts as well. $30.21 for 3 slices felt excessive for mediocre taste/quality.

First time visiting this place. A slice of pie is $10, which I thought it was expensive. I made a comment, and the lady that rung the purchase. Countered my comment stating it’s not expensive. I found that to be rude. I could purchase a whole pie at Whole Foods for similar price. First time, and last time visiting.

I ordered 2 slices of cake through Uber Eats. They immediately canceled my order. I talked to Uber. They won't give me the money back because they the order was canceled but I didn't cancel it.I called the store nobody answered.Of course, their voicemail is full..
Terrible customer service. Mediocre food. I ordered the cookies and cream cheesecake, and they packaged up a frozen piece of cheesecake. After discussing with the team members about it, they seemed not to care about my concern. They did end up reluctantly giving me another piece of cheesecake that wasn’t frozen, but it seemed like I was a total bother to their business, notwithstanding there was no one else in the restaurant. Cheesecake was mediocre for the price.
I am so sad to do this because a few years back my husband introduced me to this place and it was delish (the Miami location) came to the fort Lauderdale location a few times and each time the service was lackluster. Same complaint unfriendly people who don't greet you and act like you are a burden. The dessert used to be so good but I paid $16 for a piece of the grasshopper pie and a cookie. The pie tasted sour like it had gone bad. The cookie was hard and not good at all. In fact I asked for a peanut butter one and thought that's what I was getting but the girl clearly didn't know or care what she served. So what a waste of money and time. I won't be back sadly. I highly recommend going elsewhere. 😞
I have always enjoyed the og shop once in a while in the Mia, but it’s just gotten out of control with the price and the quality has suffered as well. Stopped in yesterday for 2 pieces of cake and 1 slice of pie. It was over $40! Completely insane. Not to mention they automatically add 10% for additional fee that the gentleman checking out couldn’t even tell me what it was or went for. I get the price of everything has increased dramatically but if you’re going to charge this much the slices need to be bigger and certainly more fresh as these tasted like they were 3 days old.
Went to this place looking for a recommended red velvet cake. We walked into the place and the staff never welcomes you. They stare at you and don’t even greet you back when you greet them. I ordered a piece of red velvet cake and was going to eat it in there. I felt so unwelcomed that I just packed my stuff and left. If I could rate no stars I would. Worse customer service I’ve ever experienced. Never going back.
Sadly, google doesn’t allow zero stars which is what this place deserves. I ordered and prepaid for a whole NY cheesecake through their website on a Tuesday. When I went to pick it up on my way to a party on Saturday, I was informed that they didn’t have my order??? Nobody bothered to reach out and let me know that they didn’t make my order. The staff really could care less that they left me scrambling last minute to find a replacement. Don’t waste your time with this place!!
We are in South FL… and the key lime pie does not taste like a true key lime pie. the whipped cream tasted old & refrigerated. The crust was a horrible consistency and the flavor of the pie tasted like it had processed lime syrup or something disgusting. And to top it off a slice is worth $10. I am highly unimpressed and annoyed to have wasted my money on terrible quality that feels entitled to be overpriced. I get way better key lime pies a bit closer to the beach at the most casual restaurants and for $5. Not coming back. Absolutely gross
The deserts are overpriced and overhyped. The cakes don’t even stay together the icing completely separate from cake
Update: I dropped in to treat myself for the New year after not coming since my last review about two years ago. I also took some time to go through every single review and read them all, while I got a good laugh, I was surprised at the owners response to some of the reviews. if that was even him, but still… Just disrespectful and rude !! I really don’t think that this location will make it at the rate that they are going. The service last night was good. I also noticed that the prices seem to fluctuate here for some reason because the red velvet Cake was a tad bit cheaper. When I went in last night, I ordered my usual the red velvet cake, and the Tres leches , and of course the whipped cream machine didn’t work for the TresLeches, but it was still pretty good. The red velvet cake on the other hand wasn’t that great. It tasted frozen, not fresh. It was very mushy tasting and just gross. Nothing bunt cake is better than this. I can’t believe how bad the quality is now. Still don’t have any hot food items, like the pot pies etc. I really think that they should have just kept their locations in Miami and Coral Gables. They don’t need to expand any where else unless they are sure that they can deliver fresh baked goods and can hire quality people to work. Fort Lauderdale unfortunately just doesn’t offer that type of quality. They probably would’ve did better off going to West Palm Beach instead. Old Review: *Let me just be honest, I’ve been eating Fire Man Derek’s when they had only a food truck and would come to Miami Beach every Tuesday on 79th st. for the food truck day. When it was just him and a few family members. So that’s been a little over seven years to be exact. It’s been nice to see the growth from the food truck to the stores, but the quality is just disrespectful now. It’s clear that they would rather have quantity to make more money. When they first started the slices were $9 and they were HUGE !!! SO big that they came in a paper box ( not these small plastic containers.) and the slices were beautiful with chocolate drizzled over the top of the red velvet. Then I moved to Downtown Miami about 4yrs ago, I was so excited that they had their location in the art district and I would order from them daily via Uber eats, until they started being inconsistent with the product at their wynwood location. It got so bad because they kept changing the baker that the cakes started to taste like Publix cakes. So I ended up having to give them a break for a few years or so until they could get it together. The prices verses the product quality are a representation of pure greed. They went from $9 to $11 and now $13 which is ridiculous for what u get. I wouldn’t mind paying if the slices were still the same but to present these sloppy mediocre slices is just insane. I came a few days ago for the first time in a while because I was hoping this location would be slightly decent and the slice that I got was okay, I also tried the Tres Leches, which was delicious and worth it. That actually made me come back today only to be told that they were out and I ended up getting the worst red velvet slice ever !! It was super small and to ad insult to injury it was also broken inside of the container because obviously it wasn’t cut properly, but after today never again. I would just rather wait until I take my trips to Atlanta and Jacksonville go to my favorite place there which is Cami Cakes. The slices are huge and only $8. It just doesn’t make any sense to keep getting ripped off and not be blown away with the product. There’s no pies or cookies at this location either. This is just a prime example how mediocrity can survive in certain neighborhoods because people are so dumb and will keep supporting these kinds of places. They need to go back to the basics and make the slices how they used to be so the line would be around the corner like before.
While I would’ve liked to give this place 5 stars it gets 1 and I’ll tell you why. When a customer steps into a bakery, they expect to know what they’re buying and for how much. Think: going to the store and seeing a price tag. NOT at this bakery. We stopped in last night and decided to order the Tres Leches Cake to split. Without knowing any better (no price) it rings up to $12.86 for ONE SLICE OF CAKE. After it had already been prepared. This is when I noticed the sign stating that they also have “removed the tipping option” and instead automatically add a 10% “service charge” to “pay employees an hourly wage.” Paying your employees a decent hourly wage is something that should be done ANYWAY and should be factored into the (already exorbitant) price—it’s called “Cost of Goods Sold”—a common term in business. If an employee earns a TIP then that is warranted. TIPS stands for “to insure proper service” and if exceptional service is delivered then it is warranted. The people who work here are handing over a slice of pie or cake it’s nothing spectacular or labor intensive. You don’t see the grocery store tacking on a “service charge” for the slice of cake or pie you buy there; nor do they offer you a tip line for the labor of ringing up your pie / cake. Although the Tres Leche Cake was great, the policies of Fireman Derek’s are insulting and the products are far far overpriced.
Girl at register ignored me. I was the only one in store. She went to back room. When she returned I asked for the price of a key lime pie. She said $48. I asked if I could buy 1/2. She said no. She offered to get the manager to explain why. The manager advised me that the 6 slice pie was $43. She would sell me half or 3 slices for $30. There were two key lime pies in the case. No customers. It was late Thursday afternoon. Her take it or leave it attitude was interesting. I bought two slices for $10@. I will never go back.
Overall, meh, not worth $12 for a slice of cake. The guava and cheese cake was good, not great... Peter Pan Diner has quality cakes and pies all homemade for $5-7... and why are no prices posted? Will it be $15 next time? When I asked the girl behind the counter she literally rolled her eyes before rambling off some numbers. And there's no coffee or tea option. You get Coke or chocolate milk options. All the cakes were pre sliced and stored in a fridge so you couldn't even see what you're buying. When I asked how big the slice was she said really generous. But literally CCF cake slices are bigger. Then the forced gratuity called "service charge" was an insult. One girl ran the computer and the other took the cake out of the fridge. We were the only 2 there. The place was freezing and we had to try to talk over the 2 girls laughing and talking loudly. What service did you provide that your hourly wage didn't cover? As a local, I like to support local... but not with over priced cake, bad service and forced gratuity. I'll buy a $12 publix cake next time and have leftovers.
To say I was super disappointed would be an understatement. The kids working behind the counter were great. However, I was initially surprised by the price when checking out. $10 per slice? I wanna be blown away by what I’m eating. I most certainly was not! I took my first bite of the salted caramel and was stunned. It was SO sweet I was sure I was going to become diabetic that night. All flavor gets lost within the sugar content. Where’s the balance? I got two slices figuring I’d give my mom one the next morning. So, I decided to try the guava one I got for her. It wasn’t good. In fact, when mom tried it today, she was sure it was cherry. I assured her it wasn’t. In my opinion, in no way is this product worth the price tag. If it were my spot, I’d definitely reassess prices and recipes. At least of those two…
This was $10. I will never be back. Service is so bad at this location and the price os absurd for how much I received. This is such a shame considering how good the Miami location is.

Pies are sub standard at best. Extremely sweet. Unsure if any of the flavors are even natural. For instance banana cream pie tastes like it was made with banana flavour and not bananas themselves. Same with others. Pecan pie is terrible, the bottom crust was soggy and so much sugar instead of a subtle balance between the pecans nuttiness and caramel. The coconut pies were disappointing as well - anything coconut here is basically just coconut flakes tossed. And at $11 a pie it is utterly disappointing. We got 6 pies and 2 cake slices. All were meh. We also got 2 cookies which were also rubbish. Extra sweet - it generally helps mask the lack of baking skill. And it seemed like it.
This place is honestly pretty lame. The food is overpriced and usually stale, or just underwhelming. If you want something fresh, do yourself a favor and go to Sweeter Days instead. The most entertaining part of this spot is actually the owner’s responses to reviews. He’s consistently rude and disrespectful to anyone who says what a lot of customers are clearly thinking. It’s very much his way or the door. But this place is in a community where people actually want to support and engage with local businesses. At some point, you’d think there would be a pause to meet customers halfway. So come on, Fireman Derek’s — step it up. A neighborhood spot shouldn’t be so unwelcoming that people actively dislike it. Awe... He’s cryin now. I'm at your moms house actually and the only cheeks clapping are hers…
