Really cool place. The fried cod was superb. The homemade tartar was great. The prime rib special was on point. The onion rings were huge. My friend said the hot brown was good. It was very big. Parking was very generous but be careful pulling out onto the road. The place is one of the oldest restaurants in Kentucky amd has a really cool story.
We were greeted by the manager, Aaron. He was super friendly and when he heard it was my birthday immediately said dessert is on him. Hallie was our waitress. She was very attentive and present. The order was accurate and everything was delicious.
Classic Kentucky. What a warm and inviting atmosphere to help enjoy the holiday season. The holiday menu was mixed with drink and food specials while the service was both friendly and attentive. The walleye dish my wife enjoyed was wonderful and plentiful while the Hot Brown was exactly what I remembered from years ago - cheesy with a delicious sauce. The bread pudding topped off our meal with the perfect amount of sweetness. Overall the pub area was both cozy and warm with the perfect touch of vintage Kentucky included in the decor. Go? Indeed as the food was plentiful and the pricing very fair with gracious service both appreciated and added a bit of happiness to the entire visit. Thank you Greyhound staff and happy holidays.
Heard great things about Greyhound Tavern and so pleased with our experience! Our server and host were appropriately attentive and helpful. We were very impressed with our made from scratch delicious meals - Tasty hot buttered bread, fresh Walleye with seasoned fries and Caesar salad, Fried Chicken with asparagus, Filet with mashed potatoes/gravy and salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. Dessert was a wonderful blackberry cobbler with excellent vanilla ice cream.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant during Burger Week. The onion rings were large and incredibly crispy, making it easy to share half an order with someone else. The burgers were perfectly cooked and tender, with a magical sauce that elevated the taste. The fries were also very good. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience and would recommend!
The first night we came, it was a wonderful evening being seated in the cozy tea room area, not crowded or cramped feeling. Soft big band jazz playing, clean, pleasant atmosphere with upscale decor with interesting rustic aspects. I had the grilled fish special which was Haddock I believe, and it was so delicious. Wonderful glass of house Cabernet. Amazing waiter, an older gentleman who was so attentive and friendly. Another night we were seated in a larger area filled with customers. It felt a bit too crowded for me, tables too close together but still a nice evening. A booth would have felt a bit more private probably. My salmon harvest salad was yummy. Everyone was happy with their selections but one person felt a little disappointed his was served with rye bread, that was not even toasted, and just looked like generic bread from the grocery.
In town for a funeral and wanted to try this place that I had heard about. Fried chicken was really good very glad I stopped by
Place was recommended to me for their amazing food. Oh man... I got the family chicken (yay leftovers!) and it was seriously the best seasoned chicken I've ever had. Super moist too. Yeah... I said moist. If you're in the area I would definitely stop by. Service was amazing too. OH.. And I HARDLY eat coleslaw. Theirs is amazing! (Salad not pictured)
Had Valentine Day dinner here and it was wonderful. Made reservation and arrived early and was seated close to our reservation time which was 830pm. Once we was seated our server Edward came our and took our drink order. We browse the menu which was the Valentine Day menu and we both order steak. I ordered the 14 oz New York strip and my wife ordered the barrel cut filet with a salad and I order the soup which was a Cajun shrimp corn chowder. The steak had great flavor and the herb butter was wonderful on top of it. The scallops potatoes was cheesy and good. We also ordered two cakes a chocolate and vanilla with strawberry and a strawberry syrup. Overall it was a good experience and the service was wonderful.
The place is so cozy and the food was absolutely phenomenal!
Best fried chicken I've ever had! My wife and I began with delicious bourbon slushes to drink. She ordered the turkey and country ham combination hot brown which she said was delicious and also huge. My fried chicken was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of salt. Overall a great experience.
Honestly a 10/10 chicken place. Has an elegant rich atmosphere but respectable prices. Recently added to the B line, their bourbon selection is far above average. Would absolutely do this again.
An unexpected and pleasant experience. Flew in for a business trip and looked for a place nearby. Found this place and I'm happy I did. The building is beautifully decorated. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, and kind. We ordered the "world famous onion rings". They were delicious! super thick cuts that melt in your mouth. We also got the open faced roast beef and cod dinner. The roast beef was so tender and flavorful. The cod was cooked to perfection. I cannot wait to be back in the area to eat here again!
Came back to visit for the holidays and went with a friend to this highly recommended tavern. It did not disappoint. The display and layout of the place had a Kentucky and old fashioned feel with the presence of modern feel as well; it was a great balance between the two. The food was quality. The cheese sticks for an appetizer was well worth the investment. The light and fluffy crust encompassing the warm and tasty cheese inside was fantastic. The roasted carrots had a texturized taste that balanced soft and chewy with hard and tough. The New York Strip was moist, decadent, and savory; I highly recommend getting it when visiting. The Warm BlackBerry Cobbler was out of this world for dessert. The bold and rich taste was just enough to not be overwhelming but add a flavorful experience. Our waitress was excellent as well. From the moment we were seated to when we left, it was an immaculate experience, 11/10 recommend.
Jamme is the best Service and food were great. We all had the fried chicken special, which is every Monday. Not far from downtown. Parking is right next to the building.
My Dad has been telling me about their onion rings and cheese sticks, just for a quick little bite to eat while on the road. The portions and size of the food itself is great. The service was outstanding as well. I wish I remembered the servers name so I could give him some recognition for a great experience. I used to deliver all of the beef they use back in the 90s but had never eaten here. Very good experience and we'll be back soon for a "real" meal other than just a couple of appetizers.
Been to Greyhound Tavern several times. Very consistent, never disappointed. Took a group of 4 there today ( Sunday) for Brunch. Opens at 10 am on Sunday. Ample parking. We were seated immediately at a great table. Server was excellent. She brought our drink order to the table very quick. Brunch is set up Buffet style with basically two serving line so it moves quick. Breakfast foods on left side, lunch foods on right. Dessert table also. Assortment of food was outstanding. Be sure and try the fried chicken. Pork loin was carved at the buffet table. Our group tried just about everything and it was great. Great atmosphere with zero disappointments. Definitely one of our favorites. Check out their menu on line. Some great choices, especially Prime Rib on Saturday evenings. Hot Brown and Pecan crusted chicken are excellent also.
We’ve been regulars at the Greyhound Tavern for years. It always offers excellent service and food, offering well executed Southern/Kentucky tavern fare. Of particular note and renown is the family style chicken dinner, offered Mondays & Tuesdays. A more than generous platter of fried chicken is offered, with traditional sides - green beans with ham, mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, coleslaw, and buttermilk biscuits. Seconds are available for the sides. Every visit, chicken night or not, is a positive, enjoyable experience.
The service was flawless. The food was delicious. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.
This is a must visit restaurant. It has been in business since 1921in the Cincinnati area. It is a semiformal atmosphere but several visitors were wearing shorts and tee-shirts. The food is very good (I had the halibut with cold slaw, green beans, and onion rings). The service is excellent and the facility is clean and well maintained.
Went to Greyhound Tavern for dinner after Church. The outside of the building is very elegant and has a charm about it. The service and staff here are very attentive and professional. The meal was the best part of the night. We had the fried chicken, grilled pork chops, and fried cod. I would recommend all three items to anyone. The chicken was well seasoned and fried to a perfect golden brown. Not a heavy breading. The outside was crispy and very juicy inside. The peach chutney on the pork was absolutely delicious. Recommend sides are the mashed potatoes and beef gravy, and the ceasar salad. Overall, this was a fantastic evening and wonderful meal. If you enjoy great homestyle food and a relaxing time, this is your place to come. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this to everybody.
Excellent service. Easy to get afternoon seating. Delicious Cod and Fried Chicken. Excellent flavored mashed potatoes and savory hot slaw. Bourbon Slush just right.
In had not been in for a while. Noticed the new updates to side entrance and dining areas. Looks very nice and food was great. This cozy place is a busy place, so if you can try to make reservations when possible. I tried a new appetizer - Goetta Eggrolls. A new take on Cincinnati food item <3. My Greyhound Burger was great too but I ate it before I snapped a picture .. oops!
My date and I, while exploring parts of northern Kentucky, drove by Greyhound Tavern and we were immediately curious to go in and sample the ambience and food. We were not disappointed. The ambience and atmosphere were as quaint as we had thought and, additionally, the staff and our server made us feel welcomed and valued. We could not have been more pleased with the entire dining experience from the atmosphere to the quality service and delicious dinner! We were unable to sample dessert because of an appointment my date needed to keep to view a home for sale. Greyhound Tavern is a quality landmark for the community. If you have not been there I encourage you to do so, and I hope your experience will be as wonderful as was the experience my lovely date and I enjoyed! I live in Louisville and my date lives in the area and, unfortunately, works a shift that has prevented us a return, but I look forward to my next visit to the area and Greyhound Tavern…with or without my date.
The service was amazing Amanda was very on top of everything. The food was absolutely delicious this is our new favorite restaurant and we will definitely be back.
I took my wife here for our anniversary and I couldn't have made a better choice! Amanda was very attentive and gave excellent recommendations for the food. The halibut was some of the the best I've ever had!
A long time standard for great food. I only gave it a 4 on food because this time my steak was just ok. But everything else great. Unfortunately the manager Aaron was very loud and frankly disrespectful to staff in front of us and other guests.
Even with the food taking a while to get to you this place is still worth five stars. I'd be more than happy to go back here again. I would suggest to stay away from their specialty drinks because they are given to you in very small glasses.
My wife and I had not been here for about 10 years and decided to take our daughter here for her 20th birthday. Our server Janie was phenomenal. She was cheerful and prompt. She made this a 5-star experience. The food was excellent as well- we had the open face roast beef and fried chicken. Atmosphere is great- low lighting, nice music in background at a volume where you can still hold a great conversation. Thanks to Janie and the Greyhound team for an amazing evening- we will be back soon!
The food came out just in time. As soon as we were sat we were greeted by our server Amanda! She was so sweet and attentive to us! We will be coming back, will definitely request Amanda! 🙌
Our first time to Greyhound Tavern and we absolutely loved it. I had the Reuben sandwich and my wife had the American burger. Both were delicious. Atmosphere was warm and the service was great. Prices were very reasonable. Only opportunity for improvement would be homemade chips instead of “Ruffles”.
I’m usually a “hot-tea-at-home-in-silence” person in the morning, but after hearing people rave about the breakfast at Greyhound Tavern, I decided to leave my bubble! I’m already planning my next visit! I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and let me tell you, they were like clouds on a plate! But the absolute showstopper-the thing I’ve been dreaming about since-was the signature blueberry butter! If you’re looking for breakfast that’s more like a religious experience for your taste buds, you have to come here! And do yourself a favor and order extra blueberry butter!!
Really good food and service. The decor could use updating. I attended the Christmas buffet and everything was delicious. I plan on returning for the regular menu. Recommended!
Found our way to the Greyhound after visiting another local place that was booked solid for the night. We found the food to be good. The meatloaf dinner was very average but the pecan crusted chicken was excellent. Overall the highlight of the evening was the peanut butter pie!!!!
I wish the food was better. The atmosphere is quaint and charming. The service is excellent. The prices are fairly reasonable. The food is just lackluster. As far as I can tell, the best things to order are the fried chicken and the fish dishes like halibut or salmon. We tried a lot of the appetizers, and I think the mozzarella sticks, the onion rings and the pimento cheese are my favorites. The mozzarella sticks were especially good. The steak was cooked correctly to order but was undersalted and fell flat. The hot brown was just okay. The mashed potatoes are good. The green beans are sweet, which is not necessarily bad but something to be aware of. They're not my favorite, personally. The french fries would be good if they were hot and fresh but came out cold and stale. It's a nice place to go out to eat, but you really have to know what to order.
Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was good, though a bit lacking in variety. Bacon was severely overcooked, but the chicken was the star! Service was great. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you go during peak hours.
My Prime rib was delicious, cooked just as I ordered it. My husband enjoyed the fried Cod. The ran out of baked potatos so he ordered mashed potatoes. We tried cheesecake with raspberry sauce. It was a big slice and tasted very good. A friend tried the peanut butter pie and said it was very good! Great waitress they were very attentive!
This was a first time visit. The waiter said if you haven't been here, get the onion rings. We had four people in our party and a half order would have been plenty. We each had 1 or 1.5 large onion rings. Maybe I should say very large. Staff was nice but did ask if we had a reservation this may be recommended. Clean, quick and food was tasty.
The food here was solid. It was good, but it was in no way above and beyond. They just didn't have enough flavor in places where you would expect it. The pimento cheese was blanned, the fish batter was basic, the salad was standard. Everything was good, but everything was basic. The service was great. The place is decorated like you're walking into well to do elderly lady's house. I'm reviewing this place a little harder than others, because they charge more. If you're going to charge $30 a plate, then you need to sell food that's worth it. I feel like they missed the mark. There are so many little things that could have done to elevate their food. If someone from the restaurant reads this: elevate your salads with some new ingredients, fix your plating by putting the sides on the entree plate, your tables are too cluttered to have that many plates, your fish batter needs more salt and some other seasonings, and with the pimeno cheese if you're not adding garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce, you should be.
They have their own parking. Good sized menu. Food was ok, not great. I would say it was a little bland. Drinks were very good. My friend loved the pineapple drink. Service was ok, he forgot a few things. They close at 10 but made it very obvious they wanted to close our room at 8. I would recommend you instead go to Camparosso across the street.
I was torn between 3-4 stars on this place. Nothing necessarily wowed us. We ordered a couple apps to try and a salad. The salad for $16 had mainly lettuce & chicken, and not enough other toppings if you’re trying to eat that as a meal. Like barely any corn or black beans. The chicken on it and dressing was good. But wouldn’t order it again based on lack of any other toppings. The goetta egg roll app was a small portion for the price and lackluster. The cheese sticks and pimento cheese felt more worth the price. The ranch was good. The Thai chili sauce was not good at all. The cheese sticks were good. The bread was good. Overall I felt like the $75 bill was steep but we did want to try apps so that was the only way. The only half order they do is on onion rings. The service was fine. Got seated fast without a reservation at 4:45 on a Friday but there was a big wait when we left. The place was decorated cute for Easter.
Our server was Lisa and I believe she was having a bad night. The service was soso and at 630 you were out of specials. We had the onion rings and fried green tomatoes which were ok and for main course walleye and fried chicken. The fish was served cold but chicken was good. Dessert chocolate layered cheesecake was awesome.
I gave 3 stars only because they forgot to put our order in, after waiting 40 minutes we said something. They were very apologetic and gave us free onion rings which was very tasty. However, after getting home and looking at my receipt; I was charged $17 for a Cajun Ceasar salad, which I have no ideal what that is. I ordered a side ceasar salad which is only $7. That's on me for not checking my receipt. Just beware.
Prices were notably high for the offerings and atmosphere. For example an appetizer was over $15, as was any dessert. I had a Rueben and it was okay but the bread was over toasted and I couldn't eat most of it as a sandwich. I ordered coffee but both cups were luke warm so I requested a change to a soda.
We ate here for the first time on 7/16/25 due to the great reviews on this site. Hy husband got the chicken and said it was really good. I got the open face roast beef and it was good. We loved the cheese sticks too. However, the sides left a lot to be desired. We both thought the coleslaw was sour, too much vinegar and not enough sugar. The green beans had a good flavor, if they would leave out the sugar. I cook southern and never have I ever had green beans with sugar in them. I couldn’t eat them either. The mashed potatoes were not seasoned and edible but mediocre. We got the peanut butter pie and he said it was good. Great waitress and atmosphere. Should we go back, they need to add more sides to the menu.
Place is nice, service was good but the food is just average at best. I had the burger and it was dry and no flavor, didn’t even finish it; others mentioned food was just OK. It had been years since I had been there, moved away, but grew up going there, not sure what’s changed but not worth the visit.
Had the Pasta Holland which is my usual favorite. Was drowning in garlic and olive oil and chicken was barely blackened. Their famous onion rings were not cooked thoroughly. Very disappointed today.
Had lunch there today. 4 of us in total. 2 of us got the special which was a petite steak , fries and a salad. Both specials were awful. Steaks that were supposed to be medium were so overcooked it was hard to even cut. We finished about half. On the end of the spectrum were the fries. Almost raw. Salad was good !! I’ve probably had 50-60 meals here over the years but only 2-3 with the new owner group. And now for those not knowing/ noticing on the bottom of the receipt they charge an additional 3% for using a credit card !!! Goodbye to the once great Greyhound
Service was nice, and the atmosphere was nice. But very disappointed in the food. I ordered the New York strip, asparagus and mashed potatoes. My mashed potatoes came out ice, cold, and very bland. My asparagus was also cold and the New York strip was cooked correctly, but the compound butter that was on it was overpowering, and the steak tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill. My date got the Reuben sandwich and he was disappointed in the quality of it as well. There was barely any sauce that came on it. We did get the smoked pimento cheese as an app. That was the only decent thing we were kind of bummed because this was our Valentine’s Day dinner. But the manager was nice and comped the meal our waitress was a sweetheart as well. Won’t be back.
Fried chicken was 1/2 its previous size and dripping in grease. Hot Brown's presentation was a sloppy goey mess. It had obviously been microwaved as everything was flat and run together. It was unappealing, nearly stomach turning mess. The bread underneath was soggy, not toasted.
