88 Baobao is a casual Chinese restaurant that serves a handful of dishes including noodles, dumplings, and other entrees. We heard good things about this place and came in with pretty high expectations. We were NOT disappointed, every dish we ordered was simple but so delicious. Not only that, the prices are reasonable for portions that are shareable between 3 people. We ordered like 8-9 things and it came out to be $80 (including tip)! Faves: Steamed shrimp dumplings, pork soup dumplings (these were so good!!!! The best I’ve had in Dallas so far, coming from California), garlic green beans. Honestly all were good but these are the ones that stood out the most.
I have never actually eaten in the restaurant but oh boy haha I have ordered to-go at least 20+ times and I can confidently say the food here is the bomb! It’s ready in 20 min every time and the server who takes my order always picks up right away. It hits the spot perfectly. Always hot food too. I love the sesame chicken and seriously the hand-pulled noddles are to die for. The xiaolongbao is soooo good too. 100000/10 love the food.
Tried the veggie dumplings and was impressed with the generous portion size. The hand-pulled noodles were fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The scallion pancake was decent, though nothing standout. Overall, I really liked this restaurant - good food and good service. Would happily come back!
Friendly, professional and efficient staff. Beautifully designed kitchen, tasty food!! Loved it! The dumplings were delicious, the ramen was just what I needed and the cucumber salad was perfect! I will definitely come back and highly recommend to anyone looking for something tasty in Tulsa. Great prices, great food, great employees…. Can’t wait to come back!
Best soup dumpling in town, period. Every dish that comes out of the kitchen is fresh and hot. Limited menu, which I love, not like other Asian restaurants trying to appease with 400 items on the menu and being a master of none. There is no bad dish here, well, maybe the wonton soup was less than ideal. Beef rolls and Har Gao are good too. Service is speedy and efficient. Friendly staff. This store, I am confident to say, is top 3 in DFW serving authentic (meaning, real) XLB type of cuisine, hands down.
10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!!! We got the beef rolls, pig ears, Taiwanese beef noodle soup and it was all amazing. My favorite was definitely the beef rolls, it was some of the best I’ve ever had. The beef both was super flavorful, beef was tender, noodles were chewy and yummy. I think the noodles are hand pulled? The pig ears were GREAT, they are doused in chili oil, so it’s both spicy and vinegary. 😍 Would definitely come here again to try the dumplings (since that’s what they specialize in, I think?)
We had a great time having dim sum at this Chinese restaurant. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and both service and atmosphere were satisfactory, although they could have been better. It was nice that the kitchen could be seen through a window and see how they made dumplings by hand, making our dining experience more enjoyable. Pork and Shrimp xiao long bao was tasty, and I like hot soup contained inside dumplings; popcorn chicken was perfectly fried with the right seasoning, sesame chicken was sweet and savory with a vinegary flavor that was well balanced, and the meat was well fried, pancakes, flat noodles with spices and lots of garlic, and fried dumplings were satisfactory. This restaurant is located in a newer shopping plaza with an Asian dessert and milk tea next door, and we will try other dishes next time we come.
Wednesday evening dinner for a party of 8 at 5pm. It was our first time here - at that time of day it was empty so we got our food fast. We WAY over ordered, the portions are HUGE. We had a variety of their dumplings, noodle, rice and of course BAO dishes. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our favorites were the deep fried buns with condensed milk, sesame balls and soup dumplings. We will be back again soon!
Counter serve restaurant that has delicious soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and chili oil noodles! We love Steam Dumpling, but this newcomer came by and we are a fan too! Its a solid option and it being counter serve helps a bit on pricing. I try to tip still since they bring the food out and they make it so well!
Absolute perfection! I am such a big fan. I had a great experience here from the time we walked in to the time we left. I came in a party of 7 and asked if they were able to turn and combine two tables so we could sit together. They said yes and did that for us. We then peeped the menu and ordered up front. We received a number and drink cups. Very casual but this was a nice change to waiting around for a waiter to assist. Once we were seated, the food started hitting our table in waves. I liked that we were able to eat a little before more food hit. This kept the food warm in our mouths. Everyone had a great meal. We tried their fried rice, hand pulled noodles, soup dumplings, and their fried chicken. Everything was flavorful and perfectly presented when they arrived. Definitely made me feel like I was in a big chinatown.
3.5 rounding up to 4 stars. We got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, beef roll, and soup dumplings. The staff was very nice in explaining the concept. You get a menu that you mark with a dry erase marker, then confirm the order and pay first. As for the food, thought it was cooked well but lacking flavor. The beef noodle soup was solid though the meat was a little dry and the soup lacking beef flavor. The hand pulled noodles are nice. The beef roll was very crunchy, but it had an overpowering sweet peanut sauce that was too sweet. The soup dumplings were promising and had a thin skin, but the soup itself was lacking in flavor. Overall, a decent option in North Frisco in an area lacking authentic Chinese food.
Great family spot, big portions and very tasty. We had the S1 pork xiao long bao, fried rice, hand pulled noodles (not as spicy as it seems) pork and shrimp dumplings and a couple of appetizers. Everything was outstanding but we particularly liked the stir fried rice noodles and the hand pulled noodles. Worth the drive for us. Enjoy!
A good Chinese restaurant with dumplings and buns. The sesame balls are really good. Didn't find much difference between steamed dumplings and pan fried. The vegetarian dumplings are flat in taste and sure will need a side sauce to make it better. Unfortunately, they offer not much other than soy sauce and chili oil. Consider making your dumplings to go and add your favorite sauces at home. The buns are good as well. Overall felt it's about average in service and taste. Having a Chinese restaurant right in the middle of Frisco, West of DNT is a good asset. Might consider visiting again, but preferably for a to-go order.
Dropped by to try the food. Really nice staff and food was pretty good. Ordered the soup dumplings 4/5, golden fried bun w/ condensed milk 5/5, chicken fried rice 3/5 kinda bland, hand pulled noodles 3/5, stir fried chicken w/ jalapeño 4/5 and stir fried string beans 5/5. If you live in north Frisco, give this place a try. Good quality Chinese food.
I gave the 4 stars for food because, if you are Chinese and have grown up eating home made beef noodle soups and home made dumplings, 88's can't compare. Their soup dumplings were the stars of the dumplings category. The beef roll was quite good but it was way too greasy. It's supposed to be pan fried, but theirs was close to deep fried. A bit less oil in the pan would have made it perfect. The stir fry rice noodles were tasty but way overpriced for some cabbage and onions. They added $2 for adding chicken. They added cubed chicken. Not slices. Not right. Beef noodle soup was generic. Beef was very tender. Broth was good but salty. Overall a good meal, but at New York prices.
I did a take out and it was pretty quick even though they told me after I ordered that it’ll be 10-15 mins! So that’s a good surprise! I order the beef roll and the lo mein with shrimp! The beef roll was delicious, the skin had a nice texture and the meat had a nice flavor! The shrimp lo mein lacks flavor and there were only a few shrimps even though I paid extra for the protein! Overall the service was quick and the staff were very friendly!
Ordered 4 things: 1. Cucumber salads 5/10 2. Popcorn chicken 8/10 3. Hand pulled noodles 8/10 4. Crabmeat and pork dumplings 6/10 They did one order wrong when they took the order, no read back to confirm the orders. When we told them, they were very irritated. But they did bring the correct order, with an irritating attitude as well. I wish we could have a better dining experience even the food was not that impressive.
Be careful with your takeout order and double-check it before you get home. I’m disappointed with how this situation was handled. About a month ago, I placed a takeout order and was charged for three dishes that were never included in the bag. I called the same day to report the issue and was told by the manager that they could not issue a credit unless I physically returned to the store. While I understand that verification is important, the mistake was on their end—not mine. It shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility to make a second trip to correct an error that could easily be verified in their system, especially since the order was placed by phone and paid for less than 30 minutes earlier. Due to my schedule, I wasn’t able to return right away. When I finally went back about a month later, I brought my receipt and explained the situation again. At that point, I was told that because too much time had passed, they could only offer a courtesy discount. Instead of refunding the full $30, they initially offered a $5 discount, and after a rather embarrassing conversation, they discounted only $15. I appreciate the partial adjustment, but I don’t feel this was handled fairly. Customers shouldn’t have to chase down credits for items they never received. I hope management reviews their policy so situations like this can be resolved more efficiently and fairly in the future.
This was my 1st time dining and I will say I had the WORST experience here!!! I purchased hand pulled noodles , salt and pepper shrimp , vegetable spring rolls and Honey lemon ice tea … total was around 35.00 and then I tipped . The manager brought all my food out literally 1 by 1 so the shrimp and the vegetable spring rolls was cold by the time the noodles came out and the intent was for me eat it together, Not only that the manager slips off to the bathroom and there had been a lady cleaning the floors who went into the kitchen with the same gloves she was cleaning the floors with that where cover in the product she had been using and dirty floor water who brought me the noodles I’m literally watching the moisture from her gloves run inside the bowl and to top it off there was hair in it ! I immediately let the staff know ,they re-made it by this time they brought it to me my tea is watered down , shrimp and spring rolls are supppeeerrr cold !. The manager finally comes out the bathroom and is using the monitor he uses to take orders as a mirror to stroke and play in his hair , I let him know about my experience and all he had to say was “yeah I heard they told me “and that he spoke with the lady who literally touched and handed me my food while in the middle of cleaning the floors … I then asked for his managers number he didn’t want to give it to me and gave me so much push back until I mentioned that I had videos of the entire interaction. He then proceeds to offer me a partial refund ! I Wasn’t able to experience if the food was good or not due to the horrible service I received …I WILL NEVER dine here again !
