Avaliações de Papaye Grand Concourse
the jollof rice at papaye is a game-changer! the flavors are authentic and the quality is top-notch. perfect spot for west african cuisine enthusiasts.
🍽️ Papaye – A Bronx staple that never misses on flavor. I’ve been coming to Papaye for years—since living in the Bronx—and it’s truly a household name in the community. The food has always held it down, especially the kebabs, which are still one of my go-to orders whenever I’m back in the city. The service has improved over time, but there’s still room for more warmth and enthusiasm. That extra effort would elevate the customer experience, but it seems like they know their food speaks for itself—and honestly, it does. Flavors are solid, portions are generous, and it’s one of those spots that stays real to its roots. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.
Food is/was just delicious! 😋 I was at this very restaurant 6 years ago and its so heartening to see the standards have not dropped at all! Not only is the food excellent value, the portions are ample such that I almost always end up asking for a takeaway bag 😆🤩👍🏾
I was on a friendly date. I felt safe on till one huge dud came inside and asked me for $1. I said I don't have any more money. He sat down about two tables from me and started looking at me. He kept on for about 20 minutes lml😄😂. I was kind of scared. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Ghanaian food😋. My friend said it's called waakye.
There is this one woman there that always deter me from going inside. She is so rude. The cashier guys are lovely and the food overall is good. But her attitude makes it hard to give the restaurant the best ratings. Even my fellow Ghanaian friends says the same about her. She changes the prices of the meals based on her attitude that day. So sad because I am forced to go to Accra Town. They are more friendlier.
Came here for lunch a few weeks ago and it was a little disappointing. The line had about 10 people ahead of me and still had about a hour wait. How ridiculous. The owner was working the register but he seemed more like the help as he has SOOO many questions for the staff about pricing. I ordered okra soup w pounded yam. The soup was VERY oily and it red... Red? some of you are thinking the same thing as me. Unless they discovered a "new" vegetable how is the soup red??? It must of been Banga soup or heavily doused in palm oil as I only had 1 piece of okra in the entire bowl. The jelloff rice was fine it tasted like it was made in a pressure cooker instead of over the counter which takes longer and more effort but the flavor and quality is worth it. Moving on I would recommend you grab and go if you stop by for lunch. Although there is seating it isn't advised.
Okay soup, poor quality swallow. The swallow was dripping in liquid, it was too sticky and not was not beaten properly. The soup is okay, thick. The meat however is overdone.
Purchased waakye today. Service was good. However, the waakye smelled burnt which was super disappointing 'cos it could've been delicious. Sadly, after taking a couple of spoons of it...I threw it away. I'm not sure why getting good/authentic waakye in NYC especially in the Bronx has become laborious.
I live upstate NY and was expected to come get some amazing food. Nope my fufu taste burnt and the goat was still kicking in my soup. It's a 2/10 don't recommend. The price for what I got I thought was fantastic but I see why. They want that stuff gone at any cost. Would love to try it again maybe at another establishment.
Their food is good but they have no customer service skills...no patient, rude they nice to only people they personally know. When they servicing your food they give what they and when u try to explain or tell them what u want they give u attitude. I'm paying it's not free so I have the choice to get I want. At the end of the day they lack customer service skills and management needs to take all the employees to go learn some CS skills...
Horrible service!!! Acted like they didn’t want to greet or serve us!! Paid 20 a plate and we got the bottom of the pot burned rice!!! I use to like them back in the day so I figured I would go back I had a taste for some African food… but I will for sure never go back and I hope they do better on their customer service and food but they won’t get my money anymore
Food not good… I bought fufu and soup.. the soup is full of ginger and pepper( no taste) The soup taste awful… very very poor customer service too…the guy over there is something else I regret going there Eat tasteless food at your own risk
Food is't cooked well. terrible customer service. no respect at all I wouldn't eat here ever don't waste your time and money because I already did that for you
Literally the worst experience ive ever had at a restaurant ever. The staff is rude and the owner is worse. So disrepectful to the customers, especially if you dont speak their native languange. I thought the food would make up for my experience but it did not. I woudn’t reccomend i shouldve listened to my friends and went to the one on 167!
Food was very mediocre... Staff was very rude and talks about customers in Twi thinking they won't understand! Dont waste your time here go to the one on 167!!
I live in the neighborhood and walk past often. A few years ago my partner and I walked in to check it out and while looking for a menu, a woman behind the counter told us that we would not like anything there. We felt taken aback by this and walked out. I decided to write a review now because my sister went there recently and had a very weird vibe in the place too. She said the workers did not seem pleasant, not one thank you or smile was given for her as a paying customer. She was charged 40 plus dollars for a single meal and a drink which she felt was too much. I don’t know if this place is racist against other cultures that are not west African but the treatment we received on separate occasions was very strange.
