Excellent food and service. I've had many of the menu items and can't remember any regrets. The biggest and freshest shrimp I've ever had, even in this seafood-heavy area. My friend says the fish and chips is consistently top notch. Huge windows also give nice water views from most tables.
Nice spot to stop between New York and Cape Cod. Right on the water with a sea themed atmosphere and some amazing seafood creations. Crab cakes we're the best I've had in a while, and very lumpy. The lobster grilled cheese was decadent and flavorful, and the fish tacos were fresh and very true to Baja style. The service was prompt and helpful as well.
it’s summertime down the shore so i had to get a lobster roll when i visited my friend! the roll was buttery and perfectly toasted with fresh lobster stuffed in between. a beach-goer classic highly recommend
Wife loved this place. She can’t stop talking about the fish and chips. She’s usually not a batter led fish eater but this really made an impression on her. Edit: ate there again recently. Another excellent experience. Food was incredible.
This is a nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating by the water. Not a large menu but plenty of items to choose from. My lobster roll and ying-yang shrimp were excellent as was the service.
Katie is fantastic! What a waitress!, she is the best! The food is absolutely incredible, the best we have ever had, congratulations, we only give a 5 star review, because you didn’t have anymore, we recommend you 150%
Came for Valentines Day late lunch with my dad. What a beautiful view from where we were sitting. First thing that captures your attention and then I see what looked like a bald Eagle sitting on the ice eating fish. Definitely caught alot of peoples attention inside the restaurant in out .The menu came and we chose salads first, oysters, then for our entrees we chose chicken cordon bleu which was a special and short ribs. We ordered a steak strip to go. All of it was very delish and my dad's short rib looks so tender I snuck a bite. Our waitress was pleasant and catering. We ended with caramel creme brulee. Fantastic time, Very pretty views from where ever you were sitting. Redo place
In the area for work and trying new restaurants on the weekends. The Fisherman Restaurant at Long Point was first on my list and it didn’t disappoint. My server was Marissa and she was great. Keep my water filled and made sure I was good during my visit. She also pointed out some really good food items on the menu when I was still debating in my head on what to get. Started with the clam crowder which was great. And then got a hot buttered Lobster roll with fries. First time having one and it was extremely delicious. I’ll be in the area until April, so I definitely will be coming back.
Went mid December for lunch and restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays. Had a table with a stunning view of the cove. It’s not nearly as busy in the winter and more people should remember that it’s not a seasonal restaurant. Lobster bisque was very thick and flavorful and came with a large piece of claw and croutons. My son had a lobster panini and fries which he proclaimed to be the best sandwich he’s ever had. I stole way too many of his fries. The lobster Rangoon were also a tasty addition to lunch. Our server was attentive and friendly and had some great other suggestions for things to try on our next trip. And there will be many! Highly recommend for anyone in area.
Fantastic Experience at The Fisherman Restaurant! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!! I recently hosted my sister's baby shower at The Fisherman, and I can’t say enough great things about our experience! From the moment we reached out to Zach, the chef, he was incredibly accommodating and attentive to our needs. Planning an event can be stressful, but Zach made it so easy. He provided us with invaluable advice on how to set up the space to create the perfect atmosphere for our celebration. We ended up having about 60 guests, slightly more than we anticipated, but the staff - Adam and Kristin, were absolute stars! They made sure everything ran smoothly and took fantastic care of us throughout the event, making sure drinks were full, and people had what they needed. The layout of the room was beautifully organized, thanks to Zach's suggestions on table placements for gifts, a photo station, the food table, and the cake. It allowed us to truly envision the space and helped us bring our Pintrest board to life! It made everything flow seamlessly. We decided on a selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and the showstopper: the most delicious butternut squash soup I’ve ever tasted! People were going back for seconds, if not thirds on that soup! They also had these incredible, yet simple toffee cookies, that were thin? gooey and just INCREDIBLE. Every single guest raved about the food, and it really elevated our lunch. As locals, hosting the shower in Groton Long Point, where my sister got married, made it all the more special. The scenic view combined with amazing service and food turned our day into such a memorable occasion! If you’re considering a venue for your next event or holiday dinner, I wholeheartedly recommend The Fisherman. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Zach and the entire team, for making this day so special. You all deserve an 11/10! 🌟
We had a large group of 20 tonight, and normally I wouldn’t review a restaurant based on that kind of visit since it can be tough to handle—but Fisherman at Longpoint nailed it from start to finish. Appetizers, dinner, and dessert all came out quickly, hot, and correct. Our waitress was fantastic—drinks were refilled without even asking and she kept everything moving smoothly. The little neck clams are a must—sweet, fresh, and exactly what you hope for at a shoreline spot. Everyone at the table was happy with their meals, and that’s not easy with a group this size. Big thanks to the staff for making it such a great experience. Highly recommended.
Was looking for some good seafood and not wanting to drive in to Mystic and battle for parking. Glad we found this little gem. I had the lobster bisque, hubby had the clamp chowder, both were really good. We also split an appetizer and the scallops risotto which was good but the rice could have been cooked just a bit more. Would still recommend.
Had seafood platter. Whole Belly clams included. Was really worth the price. I skipped the fries. Wife had pan seared Branzino. European sea bass. Was superb. Loved the lobster Rangoons. Service was really friendly and professional. Thanks Gretchen.
We’ve been to this restaurant a few times in the last couple of years and it’s always been exceptional. Tonight’s dining experience exceeded our expectations, the view was nice overlooking the water, the food was phenomenal and the service was top notch! Kristen was extremely attentive, she was very friendly and made sure we had a wonderful time. We both ordered off the specials menu. I had the pan seared Halibut, Cliff had the Coconut crusted Swordfish. They were both exceptional, but the halibut definitely stole the show. We even got an extra portion to go. We will definitely be coming back again and want to thank everyone there was such a wonderful time.
This afternoon my wife and I took a day trip to the Groton-Mystic area and all points in between. Lunchtime we stopped in the Fisherman Restaurant at Long Pt. on 937 Groton Long Pt. Rd. in Groton, CT. Perfect timing for me, it was around 11:25 so the restaurant didn't have anyone seated great for taking pictures. I will say not too short;y thereafter the place had several parties seated. Very nice and clean restaurant, with absolutely beautiful views of Palmers Cove. Nice bright dining room with plenty od seating and decorated with numerous types of fish mounted on the walls. Enough about the logistics, down to business the food. we each started with a cup of clam chowder. Chowder had great taste and was a filling cup of thick chowder. My wife ordered a chopped salad with chicken, I ordered the seared tuna salad. My wife's salad was good according to her and she also said it was actually more than what she thought it was. my seared tuna salad was without doubt one of my top 10 lunch salads ever. nicely seared tuna slices seasoned just right, melt in your mouth. the rest of my salad was "shredded" carrots, sliced cukes, sliced avocado and a fresh lettuce in a sesame dressing with sliced almonds. Yummy Yummy it was great. The service was great, the atmosphere great and the food was great. I know it's a Wednesday afternoon in February, I can only imagine in the Summer trying to get a table for lunch or dinner. The views of the water and seeing the Amtrak train travel by what a great spot . We will be back for sure.
Great spot for seafood. Ample options to choose from, beautiful water views, nice ocean decor and a friendly staff. I got the lobster panini with fries, which were delicious. The rest of my family got the chicken sandwich, scallops, and crab stuffed cod. All were well enjoyed. We also had some tasty calamari as an appetizer. One of the best seafood restaurants in the area. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful atmosphere and awesome food!!! It’s so nicely decorated inside and there’s a great patio overlooking the water. The food and service were outstanding! I had fish and chips and the fish was thick and white tender fillet and lightly breaded- not greasy! The short rib dinner was great also. Our server Karly was so friendly and efficient. We definitely will be back to try the other great menu choices.
Ashlynn our waitress was fantastic! She was very accommodating with our food. We had the New England Clam Chowder which was a bit salty, The Esker Beach Burger the burger had something a bit off with it and she made accommodations to both dishes not being to taste. We also had two Prime New York Steaks which the flavor profile was fantastic. Cooked to perfection, the veggies & potatoes had a fantastic flavored . The fish and chips were a hit as well! Overall it was a very good experience and I would come back. Everything was handled very well!
From our server Mia to the absolutely delicious food. The fisherman has hit all the marks. 10/10 recommend!
We have visited this restaurant on many occasions, but this last visit surpassed any. I called and was able to get a reservation right away and it was on a Saturday evening. Staff were quick to help me down the stairs as I’m currently on a walker. We sat on the lower patio and enjoyed The scenic beauty. Mia, our server was one of the best we’ve ever experienced.. We had the lobster Panini’s that were so large, we couldn't even finish. The calamari was to die for. if we could give us more than five stars, we definitely would. Also, pricing is definitely in line with the quality of food served
The service was quick and attentive. The staff was very friendly to every customer, a must to visit! Great dining experience overall! Best calamari ever, had to get 2 orders. Definitely a top pick for seafood. Very nice restaurant with great views of surrounding area. Dining room open atmosphere, clean and bright. Staff caters to you and exceeds expectations, while food quality of seafood is beyond compare! Great visit and look forward to next time!
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! As someone with a nut and shellfish allergy, it is crazy to say that this is my favorite place, but I truly mean it! I highly recommend trying these short ribs with their new IPA! The drink menu is great, and there are a lot of options on the menu to choose from. The view is always beautiful. I don’t understand some of these negative reviews on here since everytime I have been here, it has been an amazing experience!! (Shellfish dish was someone else’s but wanted to include)
If you visit Connecticut, this is where you get your relaxing view with a huge lobster! Fresh seafood--very delicious! The appetizer--Crab Rangoons--with sweet sauce is really good and tasty! The service and atmosphere is amazing! Such a nice restaurant with amazing Guy Harvey sketches/drawings everywhere to view. Did not sit at the nice looking bar but we instead opted for the window view which was very nice during sunset for my wife and I. They also have waterside dining/drinking outside which was fun too! Will return--thank you!
My family and I had the pleasure of eating at The Fisherman a few weeks ago. We enjoyed our sunset water views inside the newly managed and renovated dining room. The waitstaff was extremely attentive to all of our dietary restrictions and needs. Our entrees were made perfect with the freshest ingredients, and all the desserts are homemade in house. We will definitely be back to sample the various items offered on the menu, and to sit on the outdoor patio!
This was our first time at the Fisherman Restaurant, and we had a blast. Andrew, our bartender, was attentive and spot on with his recommendations. We started with Lobster Rangoon, and then I had the White Clam Sauce, which was fresh linguine with clams still in the Shell mixed in. My wife had the Long Point Lobster Madeira. All the food was was nicely presented and delicious. We did not have dessert as we were so full, but we'll be back in the near future to try that as well. I highly recommend you try this great restaurant in Groton. You will not be disappointed.
Food was phenomenal. Waitress was spot on, friendly and went above and beyond. Chatted with us about our hometown a bit as her father is from near us. Hot Lobster roll was delicious, side caesar salad was lovely and the calamari with marinara and aioli was *chef kiss*
My wife and I went out to dinner and tried this restaurant. We both got baked stuffed lobster’s and they were fantastic. The waitress was really nice, but she was overwhelmed pretty much being the only one there after the bartender left. I can’t blame her. she did all she could, being the only waitress there. Great atmosphere really nice place we will definitely go back and I highly recommend it.
Excellent! All the staff were very attentive to all their customers! They have indoor and outdoor eating. Beautiful decor! Open, bright, clean and Beautiful ! Prices are good. (Not outrageous). Very good food!! Baby and kid friendly. The dish pictured is a lobster panini. $21. :)
This place was a gem! Waited a bit past our reservation time but it was worth it- delicious dinner and beautiful waterfront views on the patio! Everyone loved their entrees and the drinks were strong and well made. Will definitely come back again!
We were in town after dropping our kids off at camp and staying at the Marriot Mystic. Found this place out of a whim, walked in and only a few people were there, and we discovered that they had happy hour $1 oysters and clams and $2 shrimp, WOW!! What a great experience, great food and great srevice. Ended staying for dinner and had the mussles and clam strips which were fantastic. The place sits on a pond and across the screet from the sound and it was beautiful watching the sunset. Definitely worth a visit
What a beautiful setting, gorgeous views, and delish Food! Hands down the best whole bellies I've ever had!!! I've also had the Oysters Rockefeller, and Lobstah Roll, yummy. This is by far one of my fav restaurants in Connecticut.
Dinner with my brother and sister in law. View was amazing. It was cool and windy so we sat inside. They had a fancy scallop and whipped potato dish, they gave 10/10. I had a lovely salmon and rice. Hostess to waitress, happy, professional and very kind. Can't wait to visit again. Compliments to the chef! 💜🕊️✝️
My now husband and I secretly planned to tie the knot before our wedding across the street from here. The place we planned on changing was closed and the staff let us change upstairs. We are so grateful for you all and we will now make this place our anniversary restaurant every year!!
We celebrated my daughter's 10th birthday tonight and it really was perfect! The waitstaff made her feel so special, the food was great, and the atmosphere was lovely!
Dining in Groton over the weekend was a breeze compared to Mystic! We ate at Fisherman’s, and the food was fantastic—steamed clams, shrimp cocktail, linguine with clams, and even a gluten-free clam chowder. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted fresh. Our server, Katie, and the manager, Adam, were both friendly and attentive. And the best surprise? They had non-alcoholic wine—such a great touch
I came in for lunch and it was amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming and the food was delicious! The cherry on the top were the views which are breathtaking. I definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in town to get great food and great service!
Our dinner this evening was exceptional. My partner and I shared as starters a watermelon salad and five very fresh Mystic oysters and littleneck clams that were perfectly shucked and served very fresh. The tap beer was also nice and fresh, great pour with little carbonation for optimum flavor. Our main courses were steamed lobster with summer squash and perfectly crispy roasted potatoes. The second entree was grilled swordfish topped with toasted pistachio nut topping over a bed of nicely whipped potatoes and more summer squash. We were pretty satisfied to stop there, but we had to try the key lime pie complemented with vanilla ice cream. The waitstaff, the food, the incredible seaside view and the friendly atmosphere all up to what I feel is one highly recommend dinner experience if you are looking for a great evening meal. The Fisherman Restaurant at Long point where Chef Zack works wonders.
The Fisherman is one of CTs hidden gems that you really should seek out. We just had our daughter’s engagement party there and everything was perfect! The food was abundant and delicious. We had everything from buffalo chicken sliders to oysters to mini deep dish pizzas, everything came out hot and fresh. The chef, Zach, even came out a few times to check on us. The service was exceptional. Our server, Christina, was friendly, helpful, and on top of everything. She kept everyone’s glasses full and was always there when we needed her. Overall nothing could have made this any better!
The Fisherman is back! This maiden was sailing choppy waters for a number of years, but the ship has come in and it’s got the goods! I don’t know if there’s a new owner or what, but the food, service, and atmosphere are all full sail. Ava, a waitress, was a top rate crewmember. looking forward to going back. standouts: Calamari was on point, so good. I didn’t even use the sauces. My clams linguine delighted My niece and nephew got the fish and chips, as big as their heads, and they both cleared their plates Red snapper got a thumbs up from my uncle. Bottle of wine was reasonably priced and perfectly good.
We had a wonderful dinner tonight, everything was excellent from the service to the food to the gorgeous sunset that we watched through the large windows next to our table. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, Marissa, and quickly brought to the table next to a wall of windows overlooking the water. Our waitress, Kristen, was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout the entire meal. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and clearly explained terms we weren't familiar with (and I am so glad that I tried the Dukkah Cod!) The food and drinks were delicious, and the other members of staff clearly worked together as a team, helping each other as needed. We fully enjoyed every aspect of our dinner and look forward to returning here again.
My boyfriend ordered the steamers and he couldn't stop complimenting on how delicious they were! We also had the baked cod and that was also very delicious. And our waitress Phoebe was awesome!
Went here for lunch and was not disappointed. The scallops were cooked to perfection; tender and very tasteful. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. Great location on the water, excellent food and accommodating staff! You bet we'll be back!
The food was generally good but it was a mixed bag. Ranged from ok to very good. Four stars because it was very expensive but didn't quite deliver the quality I expected for the price. The chowder was not so good, it had clearly been sitting in the warmer for too long. The baked stuffed lobster was very good.
Solid, delicious food. The lobster roll was extremely rich and lemon would have cut through nicely. The lobster material was amazing and the lobster bisque depth.
Let's just say that I didn't have the best experience here. We stopped by here to eat lunch because this seemed like a nice restaurant. I found the service slow because there wasn't much people there during that time. Waiters are pretty good but they were understaffed. I have to admit that the layout of the place was very nice though. We got the mussels and the sauce was good but the quality of the mussels themselves wasn't very good. There was also very little meat inside the mussels too. I felt like that the sauce was just covering up for the mussels. When we received the main dishes I was pretty disappointed. The poke bowl was really nasty if I were to be honest. The rice in there was just really bad. The other ingredients that were thrown on top of it were also not that good. I can't believe that we were charged $27 for that! The chef probably messed it up though. The chicken sandwich was good but it was comparable to a fast food one. Those are much cheaper than $16 and they taste very similar. So, that was kinda a let down. If you want to come here, you can. But, I will not be returning.
It was our first visit, and we noticed immediately that the location was amazing! The service was good, and the food was just ok, but way over priced. This is not fine dining, and the old reused paper menus were the first indicator. Also it looks as if nobody has run a vacuum on the carpet in atleast a week ( crumbs and food of all types were under our table?) The Cod was very bland, and the stuffing was a mystery that tasted like tuna fish? The shrimp scampi appeared to be nice, but it also was very bland? $16 for 4 Scallops on the appetizer is just too much... They were very good though. The clam chowder was very watery, and had very little to no clams or potatoes. Also very bland. With this location and the perfect chef it could be totally amazing. Unfortunately it's not a place we will return to. Our waitress was very good and attentive, and even turned the fan and a/c down when we said it was hot. The food is out of her control, so I can only hope you take note and improve.
Cute place with water views. Friendly service. Food was just ok. My friend got the warm lobster roll which she liked. Two of my friends had fries with their lunch and they were very brown and overdone. I had coconut shrimp but was very disappointed… very overcooked… dark brown… tasted like burnt coconut with no shrimp flavor. They were very hard and dry. Might try this place again if in the area, but wouldn’t get the same. $75 before tip for 3 lunches and only water to drink/no dessert… pricey for overcooked food.
Staff were wonderful and the restaurant very nice!! Scallops were over salted, mushroom risotto although full of mushroom was thick and sticky and my lobster bisque with a good amount of lobster was more savory than buttery and sherryish as described and had a film over it when it arrived. We will most likely give them another shot
Where to start? We had a 6:30 reservation on a Monday night. When I made the reservation I was told it would be a slow night so no problem being seated outside. We were there at 6:15 and got in line to wait. There were a couple of groups of people ahead of us. It took 25 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. Not outside. We were told they were down a server and we would have to wait an additional 15 minutes to sit outside so we took an indoor table. We waited some more for drinks. So long that we jumped to order our dinners as soon as the drinks were brought to our table to avoid another interminable wait. I had ordered baked cod with spinach and crispy potatoes. The cod was swimming in a milky liquid with a slight flavor of white wine and sprinkled with dried out capers. Really horrible. The spinach was sprinkled with raw chopped garlic. The potatoes were so over-cooked they were dried out like the capers. Just terrible. When our meals finally arrived we ordered fresh drinks but they didn't arrive until we were through with our meals. We refused them and paid our bill. My husband was so upset by the entire experience that he asked to speak to the manager. They sent out the sous chef. Really?! Just don’t bother unless you don’t mind waiting forever for bad service and inedible food.
We were there once before and we were happy so we made a reservation. It’s 20 miles from our house and we went there to have a nice dinner when a family member came in. We got there. It wasn’t a packed parking lot went inside and there was a family waiting for the hostess. We waited 15 minutes. No one came to greet anyone I went over and I asked what’s going on to one of the waitresses. She said it was just herself and another person so we decided to wait a little longer and after a half hour we just walked out. We went to another restaurant, but boy I am shocked no manager no one at all just the two girls in the restaurant boy has this place gone downhill AVOID AVOID AVOID this place many places much better and caring no one responded to my post if they don't care , why go there
