This is my new favorite cafe in Groveland! It’s conveniently located right in the middle of town and has a great selection of drinks. The breakfast burrito was also amazing. Plus there’s lots of seating in the upstairs lounge for reading or chatting. The owners have put a lot of work into this place and the staff did a great job showing it all off. Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent coffee shop in Groveland! We (unknowingly) went there on a day the town was out of power, and they had a generator running to stay open. The team was extremely friendly, the drinks (over several visits were vanilla latte, dirty chai, blueberry latte - our request from something we’ve tried previously), and muffins we tried were all delicious. We had actually tried to stop by other coffee shops in the area later that week who said they were open but were closed, so we decided to make here our go to while we stayed in Groveland and are very happy we did!
When you are walking into perhaps the only coffee shop in a small town, you don't expect much. You're happy if you can just get a good cup of coffee. Top of the Trail is absolutely not that. Yes, there's a wide variety of things to order, which can be both good and bad. What you don't want is not being great at anything. But also, given this is the only coffee shop, it does have to cater to more than beverages. First, the coffee is great. We had the Italian Roast. Solid beans and was quite bold. Again, enjoyed this. But there were also bagels, cereal, and everything that we needed breakfast for. Now the true highlight of this shop is the 2nd floor. Make sure you go early and grab a cup of coffee in their insanely quirky, trippy, and classy coffee "room". There are these leather chairs along with unique pop-culture decor, including some historical. Again, tough to pin-point a particular style. But it absolutely elevates your breakfast. If you are driving by Groveland, you must stop by. And the lady behind the counter is super nice!
Great location. Had a latte and a crumb muffin. When we arrived, a man was bringing out fresh cinnamon rolls, and the ladies were all very kind. While we waited, complimentary water was available, and the coffee was excellent!
Coffee was great and absolutely love the cinnamon roll! Have it heated up and it's just so heavenly. Prolly the best cinnamon roll I've had in my life! Service staff were friendly too!
We had some great pastries. Espresso was a bit (too) hot, but very tasteful. Not bitter not high in acid, just delicious. Home roasted!

Great local coffee shop we stopped there for two days they took their time but we understand it's a small town shop our lattes were fantastic and they were so kind and friendly we enjoyed that the most. Especially because we tried to do some local shopping right after and ran into some unfriendliness around town which was a real bummer we love to support local small businesses. Thanks again for the great coffee and breakfast sandwiches we hope to visit again soon!
Coffee was fantastic. Staff introduced us all to a "pour over" ant it made a huge difference over normal black Coffee. The girls behind the counter was super fun to talk to.
Loved my Barista. She was friendly and helpful. Coffee was excellent. Would recommend if you're looking for a good cup.of coffee in the area.
Loved this small coffee shop. Great coffee, thorough drink menu, yummy food options and friendly staff.

It's a good stop for travelers from bay heading Yosemite. A bit crowded, but offering good drinks. It was a bit fun to see the restroom password in receipt.
Decent option for some caffeine near Yosemite. Feels like they focus more on coffee than tea. Prices are good. Staff is friendly but service seemed relatively slow, especially when a morning queue formed. There's wifi, but hardly any room for seating so not a good place to work from—definitely a grab and go type of shop. I tried the indigo tea latte (butterfly pea) and it tasted like watery flower, would not recommend. My friends liked the lattes though. They were on the sweet side so ask for less syrup/sugar if that's not your preference.
Small coffee shop to get drinks and pastries. The workers are welcoming. We got some coffee and hot chocolate to go. Both taste great.

The food was really good, highly recommend the French almond bear claw. My only complaint is that the indigo tea latte had way too much milk and not enough tea. I couldn’t really taste the tea. The service was great, and the other drinks were fantastic! I do recommend this place, just not the indigo tea latte.

Nice place with plenty of options to choose from. We ordered a breakfast sandwich and latte. The bathroom requires a code and you have to wait till you order to get in. 2 stars for that. The service is rather slow and they are short staffed and we had to wait too long to get our order. Food service numbers appear random. They need to work on that. The latte tasted good and the seating was rather small. There is a limited space to stand in line. They need to get names rather than just order numbers so it's easier for a group of people. Definitely nice to have around the town.

One thing about this shop, it has a variety of syrup flavors. I got an 16oz iced sugar free mocha with oat milk, but the cost of drink was ridiculously high. I paid $9.75 for this drink. The starting price for a small (12oz) was $5.50 but jumping to $2 for a 16oz is crazy, and don’t get me started with getting a 20oz (large). I understand drinks can get expensive because I am also a barista and have tried many coffee shops. I would not go here, only if I was desperate.

I will only do reviews about coffee. This place extracts coffee by taking the coffee beans in a ground state. I wanted medium roasting coffee and they recommended a pourover, but it just tastes like a regular brewing coffee. But the price is over $4.00 and this is obviously wrong. He just emphasize that it's fresh, but in fact, it's not a formal pourover, it's a immersion extraction, but the speed is too fast, and the particles of ground coffee are not the proper grinding size, so it's a place to make very low coffee. I am not recommend this place for coffee ..
Could have given a zero - my two year old niece can make a better mocha than them. It is basically milk and some coffee they had left in the storage back door

Tl;dr: +45 minutes for a coffee order yesterday. They said it would be 10-15 minutes. Hate knocking a local business though it seems that yes I am indeed actually knocking a local business, but 45 minutes (maybe 50 minutes?) is an excessively long wait. 6 people waiting 45 minutes is a collective 4.5 hours of wasting our time. They just kept taking orders. They need to stop taking orders when they get backed up or give a realistic wait time. PS: There was a coffee truck at Big Oak Flat: no wait.
Cashier was persistent on changing my sister’s order when she wanted a coffee. The line was building out the door and all of the baristas had 0 sense of urgency and from the customer’s pov it seemed like there was tension between a couple of them. Then it took about 20 mins for us to get our coffee which was watered down and had little flavor. I ordered an iced Carmel latte and tasted no Carmel. But my biggest issue was the customer service. My mom saw our drinks on the counter and went to grab them because they were melting and the baristas snapped at her for taking our drinks off of the counter. I guess we were supposed to wait until they were called out. We had a good laugh about it.
This was my first time there and we were very disappointed with the service. We were heading up to Yosemite Thursday Thanksgiving day. We stop by to grab some coffee & snacks on our way up. I was there with my wife and her elderly parents. I was in line waiting to order and we been there for awhile looking at the menu and once I found out what they want, I told them to use the bathroom while I order so we can eat in the car. My wife was with her parents asking for the code and the lady snapped back saying only for costumers and she was trying to explain we are so I had to step in and call out they are with me and she finally gave them the code. I understand trying to reserve the bathroom for costumers but if there is two elderly ones trying to use the bathroom, would that even matter. It was the way the lady responded to them. There are nicer ways to respond especially to elderly ones. It really ruin our day and to top it off, the latte we ordered had no flavored. I hate to say it but next time, we will try another coffee place on our way to Yosemite.

Second time here. First experience was fine, service was friendly and the coffee was nice. Today, service was incredibly unwelcoming, and the coffee (got the same drink I did last time) was trash, and it seems they've raised the prices sky high. I'd put them a step below Starbucks (avid Starbucks avoider) although Starbucks would have saved me a couple dollars. I have no real idea how the same drink can vary so much from one day to another (I was a barista myself) the only thing that I can think of - is that the last time I was in, I came with a friend who was a regular. Disappointed because I also brought a friend in because I was so pleased with this place before. Quality of service and quality of the product today means I will not be coming back and I will recommend my friends spend their money somewhere else. Of all the local coffee shops, this one is probably the worst. Go literally anywhere else for your caffeine in groveland:)
