Staff is great and food is great. One of my regular lunch spots.
Salad bar is very good. Atmosphere is very inviting . The staff is very friendly.
The owner Juan is the nicest guy you'll ever meet and the food is solid too
Great food! We miss the island park location!
Clean and great customer service, food was delicious too!
I go all the time. My kids love the wild Texan burrito .
Fish tacos excellent. Friendly service. A neighborhood spot
Great food, gets overrun by high schoolers around lunch time.. Call in and take out!
Great variety of food. Always stop by when I'm in the area
Big selection of Good food and friendly service
This restaurant establishment is amazing chimmychanga was mouth watering save a corner just to take home yesterday ready to go back food is made fresh and is awesome delicious hands down and I’m one very picky eater.
Really good food and service
The food is delicious. Breakfast all day, burgers, Tex-Mex, smoothies, ribs. Love it! Try the ribs.
Had the mission burrito ….. it was Excellent… the girl @ the counter friendly & kind ……they are a new business worth checking out …….😸
Best place in hewlett, prices are great and staff is beyond hilarious! Everyday i go here for lunch cause Juan is my man!
Used to go here a lot, then I moved. Just went back a few times recently. Still on point. Good people too
Friendly service. Clean establishment. Good food (burritos). Reasonably priced
The owner was super nice, polite and professional! Wraps were Awesome & delicious!!
Good breakfast, lunch & dinner I recommended for anyone to enjoy their meals
Fresh, delicious meals, made just for you. Friendly service, reasonable prices.
This place had some really really good chips!!
Great meal, especially the tostones. Hard to find them made so well.
Am addicted to this place! Food is delicious and service has been great.
A great Mexican spot! Amazingly they have one of the best hamburgers I've ever had!
Great food, great flavor, so tasty an friendly atmosphere
Best Mexican food around
Best chimichangas in the area hands down. I did notice yes, food will take a while but after my first visit I realised its only because everything is made to order which after knowing that I honestly dont mind at all if my food is always fresh and not sitting somewhere premade under a heatlamp. Overall I'd sacrifice time spent for high quality which they deliver every time so just expect to wait and you wont be disappointed.
Great food! It was so good, I came back the next week with my brother! He enjoyed it too!
Great Tex-Mex. I always order take-out. One of my favorites is the tropical burrito. It has a mango salsa and a chutney paste that is amazing. Great as a bowl or traditional burrito.
This is the most amazing little hometown spot. Food is always consistently delicious and the service is perfect. A must when you are looking for big flavors and great variety.
The food is good and they have actual Mexicans making the food. Make sure you don't visit when school lets out. The teens take over and make it hard for you to converse with others. Get the tortilla soup. YUMMMMMMMMM
Great, friendly service that makes you feel at home. The food is consistently fresh and is always delicious. This spot is a local favorite, and a must-stop if you're in Hewlett.
Friendly staff, delicious food, and great portions!
If your craving mexican definitely hit this place up. It's not pure mex but has so many choices for a good price. The owner is cool.
Come to Ay Caramba for the best Mexican Cuisine in New York. Ingredients ALWAYS fresh and tasty.
Patrick and Juan have consistently made the best food in town for the past 25 years and this place is no different. Hands down excellent food and wonderful staff.
I come here often for a reason. It's really great food. I recommend trying anything that starts with Ay! Caramba on the menu... It will be great. Prices are also very reasonable
Great experience, they had excellent customer service and the food was amazing. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be returning!
So friendly and great quesadillas. I absolutely love their guacamole too. Would recommend their shrimp fajitas and their Caesar wraps.
We loved it here, great food and friendly staff. The owner is exceptionally nice and respectful
Tried this place after a recommendation. Many options on the menu, calm atmosphere. Welcoming.
Simply the best!! Been a huge fan since they first opened in Long Beach, then Island Park and now Hewlett!!
Absolutely love this joint, it's a family-run mexican restaurant that mixes things up a bit. Nachos are a bit rough, but the stupendous quality and portions of the main food makes up for it. Try his custom homemade hot sauces, they're awesome!
I love this restaurant. The food is always delicious. The staff is very friendly and always follows the substitutions. The delivery is also fast and easy. My favorites from here are: spicy fries, ay Caramba fries, fish tacos and the Smokey joe burrito.
The food is great. Unfortunately, I ate their salmon quesadilla with goat cheese and haven't been able to try anything else! I love their quesadillas! The staff is friendly and the place is clean.
This is my first time here and it was great. It is like a mom and pop restaurant (might actually be one). Food was great and is toddler friendly. I had the steak chimi and was very happy. The sauce that I had didn't have a kick to it, but the next time I come back I'll get some spice. I would definitely come here again.
Tacos are amazing. I ordered twice in the same trip second time I forgot to tell them no sour cream but they remembered my name and that I didn't want sour cream added. Very friendly and great service.
Great food always fresh. My friends and i eat there for lunch about twice a month. We get to order in advance and get served right away when we arrive. They have the absolute best cilantro dressing.!!! I always buy a container of of it to go when i dine there. Word of advice... it is near a high school. So if you're looking for a quiet place, you may want another dining spot during lunch time on school days but you'll love it there regardless of when you go!
The ingredients are always fresh! The food is always cooked to perfection! The staff handles our big order that we always make from PS104 with great care and in a tinely fashion. We order frequently and not once have had an issue! Great food, great staff, great service!
My absolute favorite place in Hewlitt/South Valley Stream to go get food. The food is delicious and extremely well made. The menu gives me anxiety because of the number of options. I want always a vegan but this was my favorite place before I became one and still is as one. Please go and get everything. (great to sit down or takeout)
The most amazing eating establishment to ever exist. I found myself in Hewlett and decided to try this place as a result of my girlfriend's recommendation. From the price point to the flavor/presentation of the burrito, i was in complete shock. It was beyond words. Try it and you'll understand. Most amazing burritos i've ever had!!!
I went to Ay Caramba in Hewlett for the first time today for lunch. The food is so delicious. Everything is made fresh. The burritos are huge and the price is very reasonable. The people there were so nice and the establishment is very clean. I will definitely be back again.
Visit Date: 12/21/22 I came here with my friend after work to eat dinner before we had a night of attending an AA meeting, giving rides to some of my other friends that needed rides and going to karaoke with our other friend. I was here once before when they reopened and I used to frequent Ay! Caramba when they had a stand alone location in Hewlett. My friend was very impressed with her food too she liked it. For this visit I got the wet burrito. I missed my wet burrito so very much it used to be one of my standards when I would visit Ay! Caramba before they closed. They reopened and combined with Bagelo another store that had two stand alone stores in the Hewlett-Woodmere area that had also shut down. It's kind of awesome because if you feel like a bagel at night now this store has a bagel option and it is also great to have good Mexican food back in the neighborhood that I work in. If you haven't been here yet, do it you won't regret the visit.
Katerin had amazing service she made sure our food was on point and she asked if we was okay and checked up on us and made sure there was 0 problems so yes props to her for the 10/10 service.
Ay caramba has been my go to place for the last two years and counting. The food is extremely fresh, as someone who has a sensitive stomach, I’ve never had any issues after consuming a small, medium or large sized meal. The portions are generous and you really get your money’s worth. The staff is amazing, super friendly and considerate. Only place I’d recommend locally- they fit all the brackets on a menu as well. Huge variety and options!
Best bagels we’ve had in the neighborhood. The staff was just as noteworthy. The menu is extensive and we can’t wait to return and try lunch! Thank you so much for the wonderful breakfast and great menu suggestions!
My new go to spot for bagels and burritos! So friendly and clean. What a find!
Been coming here for years I know the owners they are such amazing sweet people. Their food is always delicious. I definitely recommend the Santa Maria with steak added to it!
Excellent food. Best anywhere in the area. I travel 7 miles to get there, but totally worth it. I personally love the chimichangas, burritos, tacos, and the fried ice cream.
Great food. Great service. Lots of free parking. I haven't been to this restaurant since before Covid however it is just as amazing as before. Whether you're going for a sandwich, wrap, or something light you will certainly be happy. Their food is consistently delicious, made fresh, and quick service. Staff is friendly. Pricing is decent. Batman approved. Definitely worth checking this new location out if you haven't yet
Visited today - as well as many times before - and food was great. Jas shrimp soup - delicious! It was my first time trying it and I love it now. I wish service was better. We had waited a while to be served (there was no line), we ordered to eat in, were told it will be brought to us. 15 min later there is no soup. I went to check and soup was ready in a takeout container. No table delivery. Still tasted good but I wish I was told to come back and get it versus them telling me it will be brought to us.
The food is pretty good and the price is not that bad
Food is delicious. But the guy at the counter is miserable and nasty. Can ruin the owners business with his attitude.
Food is freshly made so it's worth the wait. Friendly staff- good place for a quick bit.
I love this place, my only gripe although I keep going back is that sometimes on the usual two things I order the cheese isn't fully melted, besides that minor detail I keep going back because I love it and the employees are nice
Consistently good food and friendly service. The wait is challenging from time to time, but worth it.
Friendly atmosphere, good range of choices for food. My personal favorite are the fish tacos ... something about the cole slaw that they put in just mixes well with the flavor.
It is great for a quick bite to eat. It's better to order out, especially during school months because lots of kids will be there and it can get crowded. The service takes a while even then, and you have to wait a bit, but it's worth it but
Burritos are delicious! They sometimes mess up your order so double check your order. Food is very good though!
The food came out relatively quick, food was good. Prices could be cheaper.
Used to order from here regularly, but since i moved jobs i was missing out... until NOW! Thank god im still witihin delivery zone, because breakfast aint the same (and im not a breakfast person generally) without some Ay Caramba! home-fries. I mean - order two eggs over easy, home fries, toast...for $3.99.. cant beat that. And its fresh, authentic. I usually cant resist an order of their fresh homemade tostones with garlic mojo or their, also homemade, pita chips with homemade guac. I mean, check it out! They wont dissapoint...however i can only vouch for their breakfast, delivery (which was timely and food was hot and intact) and prices are fair, especially for the location. Enjoy. Hope this was helpful. Ps. Delivery guy cool... even remembered me from my ole job!
The chips are delicious and the salad as well.. but they are a little pricey
Expensive for what you get but the taste's good. I only eat here when the company pays for lunch!
It was okay. I stopped in here one night during the week. I ordered the chicken chimichanga. It was mediocre,. .It was not well fried. It was cold like a burrito, The prices were expensive. On a good note, the staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. I would not go back.
my favorite place for lunch. the only down part is that sometimes there are a lot of kids from the school. Don't get me wrong I love kids! but they are to noisy to enjoy the delicious lunch.
I was looking for authentic Mexican food…very nice service but the food is nowhere what it should taste like
It is in a bagel shop. How it survived so far is amazing. I would think that being close to the high school is the big draw.
I tried Ay Carumba for the first time recently. I got a Pollo Loco Quesadilla for myself which was very tasty. However, my boyfriend ordered the Muy Grande Nachos which says it's topped with "ground beef, pico de gallo, lettuce, banana peppers, scallions, black and pinto beans, and melted jack and cheddar cheese" The ONLY topping on his Nachos was cheese. I was thoroughly confused and a bit annoyed. Forgetting 6 ingredients seems like a huge oversight. I don't know how it was given to me without anyone catching that something wasn't right.
First time here and our last. Staff and waitress were extremely nice, place was clean. We ordered the Muy Grande Nachos as an appetizer & it was just ok. I ordered two chicken tacos, my husband ordered 1 chicken taco and one steak taco with rice & beans. My daughter ordered a plain quesadilla with French fries. Food was brought out fairly quick. BUT food was cold, dry and with no flavor at all.
I don't pick-up take-out often because my office usually orders delivery, but what's with the tall skinny brunette girl behind the counter? She's ALWAYS coughing all over the place without a napkin covering her mouth! While waiting for my order, I saw her coughing while handling other people's food and I was hoping she wasn't going to package my order. Thankfully, she left and another employee bagged my order. I came very close to demanding a refund. It's cold and flu season, but this isn't the first time I've noticed this and I don't understand how the management doesn't do anything about it. My office will be taking a break from Ay! Caramba and hopefully the health department pays a visit to sort things out in the meantime. Gross.
Most of the staff is welcoming and friendly, accommodating and apologetic if an order is made wrong, and the food itself is delicious. The problem is the man who I think might be the owner. While waiting for my food, I witnessed him yelling at people who just came in to get out if they aren't eating, as well as making crude, disgusting comments about flatulence and alcoholism to several high school-aged customers. As he was processing my debit card, he basically slammed it against the machine before swiping it, and he came off as rude and standoffish otherwise. Like I said, the food here is great, and most of the rest of the staff is wonderful, but if you see this man in the store? I urge you to stay away. He'll make the experience there as uncomfortable as possible.
Worst food. Worst customer service.
The cashier hit my hand because I took the wrong receipt. Not really sure why he couldn’t have just said I took the wrong one. But instead of doing that he slapped my hand and even after 5 minutes it still hurts. Shame on you.
Food has absolutely no flavor. You can’t just throw cheese on top and think it’s going to taste good. Better off going to a real Mexican restaurant.
Over an hour and a half and they didn't deliver the food. They were not even nice about it over the phone. In a day of Uber Eats you figure they would be more gracious.
They have been repeatedly scewing up orders, forgetting things, etc but tonight was the worst when they didnt even put in my order when it was placed so i waited the original 25 minutes to get my order, found put they never put it in the system even though they wrote it and and then had to wait another 20 for them to finally get it ready. This is becoming too common.
Very poor customer service will handling my delivery order. I ordered the Ranchero Burrito, which was meant to be a burrito but i received a salad in a bowl. The restaurants Menu is very misleading. They refused to return my item for an exchange. I will never order form here. I work at a nearby and I am very disappointed with my experience.
We placed an order with plenty of time to prepared. When the order arrived the orders weren't properly labeled according to the person that ordered. The staff was going over every order to find their meals. Food was missing. No utensils nor napkins were supplied There was a chaotic time instead an enjoyable lunch time. The manager was rude and obnoxious and didn't offer a solution nor an apology. When we said we are giving a bad review he replied "I really don't care about a bad review" Please don't patronize this business.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Delivery person drops the chips and guac, and they refuse to send a new order. When we called to complain, they cursed out my dad. It took 20 minutes to clean up the mess they made. Do not order from here, they have no compassion and do not deserve your business. Go elsewhere.
They really went down hill after reopening!! They dont answer the phone and if they do you are on hold for 5 min. They can’t keep up with a crowd. THEY are squeezing multiple food trays into tiny plastic bags (results in squished food and tray) when they can easily just use another bag. I would stick with the location in Long Beach!
Oh man. The food was... I don't even know what to say. If you think pickled carrots and cauliflower belong in burritos, then this place is for you. The decor on the inside is uninviting and looks like they bought anything that seemed "Mexican" from a cheap thrift store. All I have to say is "Ay, Caramba"
My wife and I as attorneys and business owners take good service with high regard. I've ate at this place previously and had a sub par food experience but i decided to give them a second try. long story short I'll never be returning, the service was horrendous. I asked simple and polite questions about their menu specifically their frozen yogurts and smoothies. The young women behind the counter with dark black hair gave an unnecessary attitude, needless to say i will never be returning and advising my many local friends to do the same.
Try a real Mexican restaurant before you come here. Food was flavorless. Ordered a chicken torta and if you’ve ever had a real torta you know what a torta comes with. I received a chicken sandwich, not a torta. Also got a chicken soup and it was subpar compared to chicken soup from any other place. Last but not least, the prices on the menu are not updated. P.S - got a stomachache
Food is horrible, like fast food only worse. Tried it once based on reviews but will never go again. Food had an off taste and was not that clean. This is not a real Mexican restaurant, worse than Taco Bell. The lady behind the counter was coughing up a storm and giving out the food. You couldn't smell the food cooking it was pre-made and heated up, not fresh tasting and had an off taste. Some of the reviews seem fake or for a different place or location. Either that or they never ate at a real authentic Mexican restaurant. Can't compare, disgusting low quality. Disappointing, I have to travel a bit for decent tasty Mexican food.
I just came from eating here, make sure you notice how empty this store is. I see why the food sucks. I ordered two tacos platters . Platters mean 2 I should have gotten 2 tacos platters tell me why I got one and the excuse was I thought you wanted 2 tacos with rice and beans on the side . What? I thought the price for two platters was cool 11.82 . Well I paid 11.82 for one. The tacos were stell it completely broke on the first bite I complained about the chicken being cold and the workers got really offended I was told the chicken is supposed to be cold it's cooked so what's the problem WHAT? Who eats cold chicken anyway I dumped the food in the garbage. Don't eat here oh even the soda was flat and the soda was in a bottle. .
