Most A&W's have closed near my homestead, but today, on my little drive, I was fortunate to see this place still in business. The service was great. The food and especially the root beer float, is how I remember it. On point.

The coney dogs and root beer just like we remembered, and the cheese curds were delish. The highlight of our visit, however, was the very pleasant service with a smile we got from Cindy, who was singlehandedly taking orders, cooking, drawing root beer and apologizing that she was working alone so it was slow. But she managed to get our order up pretty quickly, as well as all the other customers. Great fellow human.

Could be a bit cleaner in bathrooms but food was just like I remembered. On the spot and hot. Made right then to order. Thanks guys and gals. Your amazing!!! Make your day amazing and never stop moving forward!!!

The root beer is awesome. The lady ringing us up was great. Little run down. I was not a huge fan of the cheese curds, but the bacon cheese burger and fries were very tasty. I would return if I was in the area.

A&W root beer has always been a favorite of mine. I haven't had it in years. Brought back memories of when I was a car hop at 16 and 17 years old. The food was delicious. My root beer float was everything I remembered it was.

I am so glad the Farr's have kept this place open. I've loved A&W since I was a kid and had the chance to share this with my daughter. Always good food, and it's a shame that there are fewer these days. Hopefully when I pass through at a later time they'll still be there. Thank you.

This place is basically just a counter in a convenience store, but there's some really cool old A&W memorabilia on display! The root beer is just as good as I remember. And they sell the old school frosty mugs! (Frost not included.)

Great old school A&W. Delicious Coney cheese dog and cheeseburger. The onion rings and fries were hot and crisp. The root beer float was almost fill with ice cream, so good! The had cool old artifacts from Route 66 and their days as a drive up. It's next to a cool old rock shop, but it was closed when we were there.

Place was a old and run down. The old man behind the counter was oblivious to anyone entering the store. The kids at the a&w counter were the only good thing about this place.

It was good. Got the cheese curds, onion rings and some burgers. Not the fastest fast food, but better than most of the bigger name fast food places.

The French fries were hot n fresh. Had to buy something, so I could use their restroom. Can't go wrong with French fries.

The lady behind the counter was kind and even washed out the a&w cup we purchased. It was. a little messy in the dining area but that happens at Mcdonald's.too..I think the staff was A+.

The service here is really good, and everyone working here is very friendly. I've never had cheese curds before, and I got a small size here, and shared with my boyfriend--they weren't bad. We also had the ice cream with cookie dough and recees in it, and it was good.

This is next door to a 70's style gas station with a A&W Root Beer stand with pretty good food. You pump your own gas. No CC unit on any of the pumps. Pay inside. It has two bays for car repairs. Great guy running the place for 41 years. Clean inside, fresh products and relaxing atmosphere. Oh, by the way. It's for sale After 41 years he wants to sell it.

Great addition to the fast food scene! Love the root beer! Reminds me of my childhood. Fairly efficient, and the staff was friendly. Will return!

The burgers that my daughter and I had were good. My son enjoyed the chicken tenders and my fiancee loved the shrimp. It wasn't the A&W that I grew up with as a kid. The Pappa Burger that used to be a 1/3 of a pound was basically the size of a double cheeseburger from McDonald's.

Food was good. It took forever to get and the place is so run down we weren't even sure the drive through was open.

The blended A&w plus ice cream drink. Its great. I would be fat if I work here.

2nd time here in 1-1/2 yrs. Service is really slow...but, it's A&W at the entrance to the Grand Canyon! It's worth the wait.

This place is great. Went there on September 16th, 2021. It's a restaurant located inside of a convenience store + gas station with a auto-mechanic shop connected to it. The cashier and cook were very friendly. The root-beer float I had was DELICIOUS; and the double-cheeseburger was quite tasty, as well. Would recommend.

Went for the root beer floats was delishous. . Was at least a 8 min wait to order . .they have a drive thru. .so I'm sure they were busy. Got some novelty glass mugs. Combined with a small store .Gas pumps are really vintage and work as well. .

We are really happy we stopped here and love to support an A&W! The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the tables were CLEAN. Yes, it was a little bit of a wait to get our food, but the food is made fresh and tasted good, so just know in advance that it may take a few extra minutes AND THAT'S OKAY! It was no longer of a wait than going to a Chick-fil-A. 😊 Would come here again when in the area.

The A&W root beer from the fountain is not like the other sodas available. The other sodas come from a bag of syrup that mixed with the carbonated water. The root beer comes from a keg on the back, so you get legit draft root beer. You could taste the difference and it is so much better than A&W root beer from fountains at other places. It was great.

It was super dirty, there were several flies buzzing around, the bathrooms were nasty. Food was fine, however they took forever with it and when it got out to us it was cold.

Clean. The girl at that took my order was very nice. I ordered a hamburger and it was raw. I threw ot out and told the girl to be careful for the next person who orders a hamburger.

Good and bad. I showed up during a lunch rush, right after someone ordered 18 Burgers, the grill only has room for 7 I was told. So there was a wait... (Speed of service 1) Taste and helpfulness of the staff 5. Averaged out its a 3 star. Holbrook Az

Well we they didn't have any coffee and we were just coming back from a trip from Laughlin for 3 days with 10 seniors and it was a little surprising cuz I needed that coffee to make it back to Round Valley and so did a couple of people but one of the ladies did have a Sunday and she enjoyed it the atmosphere is a little cold I think it's under new ownership or something but we come through there a couple times a year usually stop there we'll think about it the next time thanks for asking

Ordered a #1 and #7 , both with fries and root beer floats, driving through town, needed restroom... restroom cleanliness was a 2.5 out of 5 stars, and there food was 4 stars as it was good and served fresh and timely

Food was awesome bad services.. First we went to drive throw and no one answered so we pull around to get gas and seen it was open!!! Didn't give us are root beers so we went to get in store, I just wish people would Care about there jobs

Service was so so. Customer service training needed or maybe the employees don’t care. The food was okay. The fries didn’t taste right. Made me not want to eat at a&w again. Root beer float was the best part

The food was okay, there's a lot of hidden menu items that they didn't have posted on the main menu. overall I would have to say it was overpriced and took a long time to get our food. Service was great though.

They were nice and got 8 meals 100% correct. But the food was so gross and I'm pretty sure I giant cockroach ran across the floor. It was definitely some kind of bug for sure. The rootbeer tasted like it had alcohol or something in it. Would definitely not eat there again.

Stopped in to see if A&W had changed since I was a kid. It was pretty much the same and a fun throwback to the 60's and 70's.

I've always liked A&W, just not this one. It's okay. I wouldn't go out of my way again to stop and grab lunch. The food was decent. However, there is a 50c charge for the use of credit cards. It's hard to believe that still exists in 2024..... You probably should fix that.

It was very nostalgic eating at this place. It was quaint and vintage. Loved all the A & W memorabilia!! Don't stop here if you're in a hurry... They can only get one order out in 15 mins. 😔. It appears they need more employees during the lunch rush.

Ordered a root beer freeze and was given a vanilla shake. No root beer in it at all. My boyfriend ordered a real fruit raspberry shake and the employee said we have vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. When I said he wants the real fruit shake he said we only have strawberry. His tasted like a vanilla shake too with a light strawberry flavor. Felt like the biggest waste of money.

I want to give this one 5 stars but...30 minutes after eating it, my lunch left me like a freight train with bad brakes going downhill and burned on the way out! 4 hours later it finally subsided. Ouch.

The chicken strips are overcooked, bland and tasteless. Worst I've ever tried. The cheese curds are just ok, texture like deep fried rubber. The burger is equally tasteless and boring. The only thing that is remotely good is the root beer. Not what I expected for an almost $20 meal, plus they charge a surplus for using cards to pay. This just screams cheap owners.

Food was good but the tables and chairs were dirty. The place is very run down. They are supposed to be open until 7:30p the night we went. They started closing up at 6:30p. The guy was rude about it too. I wish there was another A&W closer to where we live.

This place has about 20 flies flying around in the dining area. People walking up to the counter swatting them away as they walk up to the counter

when I stopped in it took 3 employees over 10 minutes to greet me. I order a Cheeseburger meal, a mini corn dog meal and a kids mini corn dog meal. 7 minutes later, me and my party were told they couldnt do the mini corndog meal as they only had enough for the kids meal; they asked what we wanted to replace the mini corndog meal with we said just another cheeseburger meal. another 10 minutes go by and our order is out.. With only 1 cheeseburger meal.. Had to wait another 5-7 minutes for the other half of our food. spent almost half an hour ordering food from an empty place.. I love A&W food but the service here wasnt even close to what I'd deem as good customer service. the atmosphere gets a low grade as well cause eating in a gas station with tables isnt the best either.

We ended up leaving without food. I stood at the counter while the two people working there walked past me multiple times. They were busy amongst themselves, and there were 3 or 4 tables that had guests, I'd say probably 2-3 already had food. I was acknowledged once in passing. Very frustrated because we do not have any A&W's where I live so I wanted to visit but couldn't imagine waiting another 10-15 minutes just to order, then the wait for the food.

This restaurant is one half gas station, half fast food counter. Flies thruought the store. The day we stopped were out of everything: fries, onion rings, curds, cups. Only thing you could order was a burger by itself. Ownership/management either doesn't care, or is unaware of how run down this location is.

I’ve never in my life seen slower people in fast food. There was 1 couple in front of us inside and no one at the drive through. It took 10 minutes to get half our order and then another 5 minutes to get part of the rest of the order and then another 5 minutes to get the rest of the order and there were FOUR people working in the back. There are no napkins and you have to practically beg for ketchup or any condiments. By far the worst service I’ve ever received at a fast food restaurant. On the plus side the food was fresh because they only make enough for each order which is why it takes even longer and the tables were clean. If you are just traveling through and want a quick meal this isn’t it. If you don’t mind the wait and double check your order you should okay.

Was on a road trip and I had to use the bathroom. Long behold they had sighns before even entering the store saying "restrooms are for paying customers only!" What horrible hospitality first place I ever came across that would force you to pay for someone to use their facility.

You have to buy something to use the restroom and there is a 3% charge if you use a card. Slow service. The food is good but the service and the way they treat customers is not worth it.

I walked in stood at counter . I finally got someone's attention. She looked at me like I had a lobster climbing out my ear! She walked off .. I left won't be back.. Side note I used the restroom without buying anything.. Pay to pee policy LMAO

Normally I wouldn't review having not ordered but the most unwelcoming place ever. First, know it is a gas station with no parking except out back and to get to the front you'll need to walk through the drive through or navigate the numerous Uhauls. Then be greeted by welcoming pay to poop sign (I'm paraphrasing) and a watchful guy sitting at the checkout. After all this be prepared for another welcome of cash only or pay 50 cent convenience fee under $15 and an additional 3% surcharge for a credit card. Get real! Your off a major interstate and your prices already seemed bumped up compared to other A&W places I've been. I'll be honest the people seemed nice behind the counter taking orders but just didn't feel welcome.

40 min to get food, I asked for 2 extra cheese sauce on the side and was charged for 2 cheese curds, I explained the miss understanding when I got my order and their response was "I'm sorry I can't give you a refund." even though I didn't want them I did not order them nor do I like them.

My granddaughter and I went there to get to soft serve cones. He asked if we wanted it in a cup, And we said yes. We left Holbrook towards show low. When my granddaughter screamed. Scared the hell out of me. She said there is a bug in my ice cream. It was a roach. I called them they did not compensate us.

A/c was busted inside with 95 degrees outside, my burger was literally 1 inch thick! My burger buns must've been at the bottom of the pile. I paid $17.52 for a $1 quality burger. Root beer is delicious though!

Walked in to grab some gas and food. They were out of fries and we stood waiting for service for 10 minutes with nobody else in line. Finally, since nobody ever took our order, we walked out. There with at least 2 staff and zero customers in line. Unacceptable service.

This place is aweful, inside was dirty and gross, packages of drinks not unpacked and put places, employees not wearing masks, and more. We then decided to go through the drive thru and it was just as worse. It took 20 minutes for them to serve 3 cars. I would only ever come here if it's the only place to eat.

Stood at the register for almost 15 minutes. The only acknowledgment we got was, "I'll be right with you, I'm doing drive thru". I hope most of your business is drive thru, because your dining in customers don't seem to be a concern. As a restaurant manager, it's pathetic I was a walk out today.

Please is disgusting. It's inside of a gas station which is also disgusting. The bathrooms were disgusting. We were not greeted when walked in. We stood at the counter for almost 10 min then they were like...... We'll be right with you. We ate in our truck because there were so many flies! Our food was also disgusting. Only thing I enjoyed was my cheese curds. We'll never stop there again.

Beware -- Be prepared to pay an additional charge if you plan to use credit or debit. The drive thru is using a Ring camera to take orders since it is broken. To use the restroom you must be a paying customer. The staff is not very friendly and it's not very clean. We did not stay for food. It is attached to a gas station so it's easy to miss.

Passing thru on vacation. We ordered our food. Paid. And they messed up on our order. They messed up. He admitted that it was his fault. And yet if we wanted it. We would still have to pay for it. So. Being the nice people that we are. We were nice. And paid it. We could of went and ate at a damn nice restaurant for $50. But we were nice. And let it go. Hopefully they get some use from that extra money. Will not recommend to eat here. Waited 40 minutes... Bad bad bad .

Our burgers and root beer floats were fine, but they got both of our orders wrong, and we ate in the car because there were too many flies. Stick to the drive-through and check your order before you leave and you should be okay.

We have tried to stop here twice so far when we go through town but the service is awful every time. They really need to find more capable workers. It seems as if they can never keep up with the demand. They are ALWAYS behind. It takes 30 mins or more every single time. If you're looking for "fast" food, this isn't it. They always take 30 mins or more. We tried to go through the drive through and were told they couldn't take our order because they were backed up in the lobby and it would be 20-30 mins before they could. That is insane that the owner and management allows that. They either need new management and maybe workers that actually care to work. The previous time we actually were able to order, it took 45 mins to get that order but they lost our order and after 20 mins we asked and the workers didn't know. By that time they ran out of large cups, had no ice cream and no lids. Just beware when coming to this establishment it's usually a hot mess.

It is fenced off and closed, even though the sign out front says open during construction. We tried the drive thru, but there was a sign saying closed. Wish we would have known that before we drove 75 miles just to go to A&W.

Awful. Poor gal had to work drive-thru AND counter. Was S L O W. We left. Went up the road to Dairy Queen. 3 adults, 2 preteen & 4 yr old. Good $50+ order

The slowest workers ever, we waited for 30 minutes for two ice cream and one double cheese burger, the cashier don’t even want to speak louder and turtle 🐢 is faster than these workers.

Terrible service. We planned to make a quick pit stop while driving through town, and ended up stopping for over 20 minutes to get our food. There was only one car ahead of us in the drive through. First of all, when we ordered our food we had to repeat our order multiple times to the worker. There was no explanation given for why the food took so long. And then the food... The rootbeer was flat. The hamburgers seemed like they had no taste to them. The chicken tenders had a weird taste. The only thing that was edible were the fries, even though the grease was soaking through the bag. We've been to other a&w's many times before and have had excellent service and never experienced such poor service like this. This was definitely not worth $21.01. Very disappointed.

We came in to order some food and within 30 seconds left. There were flies all over the place and food. Employees were rude and everything was dirty and gross. I will not EVER go here again.

My husband & I are driving across the country and decided to stop for fast food so we could get back on the road quickly. That didn’t happen. We waited 30 minutes for our food & drinks. Turns out they forgot our order even though at 1 point we were the only customers there. We inquired about our food after 20 minutes & it still took another 10 minutes after that. To top it off the root beer (when we finally got it) was completely flat. Worst fast food experience & that is saying a lot.

The Coney Island hot dog was so bad that I threw it away! Rude non-customers keep customers from being able to use the restroom despite a sign saying the restroom is for customers only. The A&W Root Beer was good.

Would love to have eaten here as we drove thru town, but, alas, virtually no service! Went in to the restaurant and there were already four people either waiting on their orders or waiting to order, and no one was up front. After waiting several minutes, figured maybe the drive thru would produce results. After waiting there behind a blue car that was still in the drive thru from when we originally went into the restaurant (at least 10 minutes by this point), we gave up and went down the street to the DQ. Having one worker doing everything isn't the recipe for a good fast food experience. Won't even bother stopping there again!

Was excited to hit up an A&W especially since there aren’t a lot of food options in town for Petrified Forest tourists. We couldn’t even order because the two workers told us they were too busy to take our order after we waited at the counter for several minutes while they walked to and from the counter without acknowledging us. Pick a different restaurant in Holbrook if you’re hungry.

Stopped in real quick this morning to get something to eat while traveling. No one else around but me. Ordered a 5 piece chicken tenders with cheese curds. Waited patiently as a decent human should. I received cold saltless fries instead of the cheese curds I ordered. I was the only person in there, therefore no excuse for getting the order wrong. I would suggest trying a different place to eat.

From flagstaff drove all the there cause says closes at 1930 here it is barley past 1800 and its closed

Smelled bad kind of sewage, which is weird cause they just redid the building. Swarm of flies in the middle of the restaurant. Been a few times and they never seem to have root beer.

We were like the 3rd customers there inside but last to be served cause all the cars pulling up one by one their orders were being taken and when we asked to order and stated that we'd been waiting some guy I'm guessing the manager had to put his two sense in and said "you don't have to eat here" we'll sir not a problem have a nice day. Rude for no reason!

I have honestly never had a good experience at this location. The staff is rude and seems to hate their job, except 1 guy that works the register. The food is way overpriced for what you get. I took my daughter today to get root beer floats, only good thing there, we decided to try their coney dogs and were served disgusting slop that was nearly inedible, we ate it simply cuz of how much we spent and id rather not have my food spat in for sending it back. The onion rings were decent, overcooked but good flavor. My daughter immediately got sick and almost vomited in the parking lot, which they dont even have a parking lot anymore cuz they filled it with uhauls. U now have to park over at the rock shop next door They need to bring back their corn dogs, atleast they were good when they were cooked and not served basically raw. Won't be getting anything except floats from here anymore
