Great fried shrimp. The platter with fried shrimp, fried fish crawfish etoufee if a great meal.
It was my first visit. Can’t believe I waited so long. I had just come home from NOLA and was still craving good Cajun. Outstanding! GG was awesome and let me sample some of the market items. I ended up leaving with gumbo, bisque, blackened chicken salad, red beans and rice- and dear lord- the ham muffaletta is delicious and HUGE! GG let me know I’m getting the 337 (area code) experience:) I will absolutely be back to try everything. I was also very impressed with all their fresh cakes and pies. I just couldn’t swing it all this visit. But definitely going back on a cheat day!
Absolutely 5 stars!!! Wish I could give more- we ordered for our teachers at my son’s elementary school! They even donated additional in support of our local school. The food was amazing, service superb & the teachers were so happy! We get togo here at least twice a month- and it’s always so good! Thank you ABES for everything!
We are very familiar with the original Abe's Cajun Market in Lake Charles! We accidentally found this one while looking for a place to eat on a recent trip to Clear Lake. The staff is great, the atmosphere is wonderful and of course the food is out of this world! We will definitely be going back and highly recommend it to you if you love cajun food and find yourself near Clear Lake!
Abe's is a great family place to eat at. I've enjoyed all of the selections I've made. Especially their burgers and fries!!! The homemade bun makes the cherry on top of this sundae!!! The meat tasting fresh and not overly seasoned makes it perfection! It still tastes like a hamburger, not like they're trying to cover up some fake meat. 👌🏻👩🍳💗💖💕
The food is seasoned well. By my taste buds, it qualifies as cajun food. It’s not deep Louisiana but it is sufficient for this area of town. When I need to satisfy my gumbo fix, I come here.
MIC DROP......OMG....First time dining at Abe's Cajun Market. I was warmly greeted by the hostess. She recommended today's special Shrimp Etoutee over rice w/corn bread and the Corn Macquechoux side. When it came to the table excellent presentation and prepared fresh. The corn bread, I can't find the words to decide but its a must. Family type atmosphere. I will return to try the boudin, sausage, meat pies, turduckens, and many other items.
Abe’s Cajun Market is hands-down one of our family’s favorite places to eat—we come here at least twice a month! My daughter can’t get enough of the shrimp and French fries, while my husband is hooked on the po’ boys. I personally love their fresh salads topped with Cajun shrimp and raspberry dressing—it’s the perfect combination. Every dish we’ve tried has been absolutely amazing, full of flavor, and made with care. Before we leave, we always treat ourselves to a slice of their strawberry cake. It’s huge, tastes homemade, and has the perfect balance of sweetness with that delicious icing on top. Abe’s Cajun Market will always be at the top of our list for great food, great service, and a true family-friendly experience.
A hidden gem I found in between HVAC calls. The menu reminded me of home (Louisiana), the flavors are tasty, and the service and atmosphere was great. I'll definitely recommend this to family and friends. The Catfish A La Abe's was "Chef's Kiss" 🔥🔥🔥. From the etoufee, the boudin I had, and even more that i saw on the menu and in person, I would definitely come back. Great choice for anyone in the area!
Love the catfish platter! We always get a side of the collard greens and macaroni and cheese. It comes with the best cornbread ever that is both savory and sweet and my favorite - the hushpuppies. So moist and crunchy! I’ve never had a bad meal here and they’ve got a nice sized kids menu. It’s a serve yourself place when it comes to drinks, silverware and to-go platters which I prefer. Great little lunch spot!
This is the place. I grew up in Louisiana, and this is the best Cajun food I’ve had in Texas. The etouffee, cornbread, gumbo, fried okra, muffaletta…it’s all delicious. The cherry on top is the incredibly nice staff. We were eating with our young kids, and I forgot to order one of their burgers “plain”. Totally my fault, but one of the women working here saw her face and knew she wasn’t going to eat the burger with all those vegetables (lettuce, tomato, etc.) on it. Again, totally my fault, but she brought a completely new plain burger for my kid…and was more than sweet about it. It saved our Mother’s Day dinner. Thanks y’all. We will be back, absolutely.
I feel like I have discovered oil here! A local treasure and I drive by it daily! This food is off the charts! If you know truly good, authentic Cajun food you will feel like home here! The food is from Southwest Louisiana influence, the atmosphere is from the bayou, the help is down to earth and takes pride in the food, providing a great customer experience! I’ve been waiting for someone to come from the kitchen in white rubber boots! I will be back and bringing friends with me!!
Great food, great service. Friendly atmosphere. I eat here at least twice a week. I have for years.

Collard greens like my grandma used to make. I could just eat them and cornbread for a meal but why when they have great cajun dishes to go with it. Great fried crawfish, catfish, shrimp and others. …
OMG!! I have no words to describe the food that went in my mouth other than the food is phenomenal staff is nice and the place is clean
I have been eating here since they opened over 20 years ago. I have never been disappointed in their food. So many dishes to choose from but their seafood Gumbeaux is one of the best in Houston. c…

This is a great place for Cajun and fried food in the Clear Lake Area. I had an appointment at a doctors office nearby and they recommended this place . I can see why - great food and service
Friendly and open atmosphere, with great food. The staff was friendly and professional, made us feel at home.

Visited over Thanksgiving weekend: I ordered a chicken salad that was HUGE! I should've stuck to a bowl of gumbo. Still, it was delicious, just more than I'd bargained for. I didn't taste the gumbo (which comes with rice and cornbread), but my fellow diners loved it.
Delicious food and great price. I love their homemade ranch; great for salad and dipping. They have the BEST catfish; whether fried, blackened, or grilled, they are always fresh!!!! My husband loves their cucumber salad; he always grabs that as his side dish. Hushpuppies and fried corn nuggets are to die for. If you're in the area, come for lunch or dinner, and your taste buds will love you. By the way, you order at the counter.
Food is excellent. Fair price. Service is good. Ambiance not great for romantic dinner but clean and spacious. More like a dining hall than a cozy restaurant. I will return for the outstanding food.

Abes is between full service and fast food types. Order your food at a counter and it's brought to you. Had the Abes catfish and etouffee. It came out hot -which is the first thing I look for. I have a pet peeve about getting lukewarm food. Quality okay - my daughter described the batter as "eggy". I didn't care for the macaroni and cheese as the quality was like Velveeta. The greens were salty and I didn't finish them.
While the fried shrimp and fish was decent..the slap ya mama on the table was definitely needed. The boudain I had was greasy and rancid. I left it on the table..pretty much untouched. The atmosphere was fine at first..lunch crowed rolled in ..and I noticed I was the only Black person in the entire place. Then I felt conspicuous. Gratuity is charged with the lunch price...but no one comes to serve you or check on you. Prices weren't outlandish. Mmm....idk if I'll be back. If so it would probably be for take out
Terrible Arkansas football is on every week, instead of the big games of the week or the Texas games. Food is decent, but atmosphere is controlled on game day

Had the lunch special chicken sausage jambalaya and a twice baked potato half. The potato was flat and had more cheese than potato. The Jambalaya was dark brown, dry and overcooked. The sausage was burned and it all tasted nasty. They have always had good food in my experience, and I suspect this was the result of scraping the last serving from a pan that should have been tossed out an hour prior to my ordering it. I never leave food and I could only stomach half of this lunch. They are hard working people and I will give them another try.
Food was mediocre at best. If I can even say mediocre. Had the satin shrimp and it wasn’t fresh and was over cooked. I ate half and got sick in the bathroom. Green beans were just okay. Twice baked potato was okay. Boudin ball was the best thing going beside my Dr Pepper. Wasn't worth the hype at all. Missed the mark by far. Everyone in my party of 3 all agreed.
Came here to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Party of 7. Our server was nice young lady. After receiving our orders, we all took a few bites & found that not 1 person in our group liked the food. Absolutely NO flavor. I ordered the chicken, you can just see the lackluster of it all. It was tough, not fresh at all. My brother ordered the catfish - he said it was overly seasoned. He sent it back then shortly after, the manager came over - he didn't necessarily apologize but did offer to replace his order with something else. He declined considering the feedback we gave him on our dishes. The bread was good & the decor was festive. Can't say that we'll be going back.
WORST SERVICE WE HAVE EVER HAD!!! My family and I have been coming to Abe’s for years. The atmosphere, food, and service have always been great—until tonight. It started when my food came out wrong. I politely asked the manager to fix it, but he seemed to have an attitude and was clearly unhappy about correcting the order. Despite that, my family and I continued enjoying our evening, catching up and talking like families do. Around five minutes until closing, I ordered a second glass of wine. At first, they hesitated, saying they were closing, but I was eventually served. After that, my mother decided she would like to have a beer while I finished my wine. When we went back to the counter—at two minutes until closing—we were told very aggressively and loudly that they would not sell any more alcohol. The way it was said was rude and embarrassing, and it was loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. After the manager said no, the employees behind the counter began gossiping and staring at us, which made the situation even more uncomfortable and unprofessional. The interaction involved a heavyset man and a thin woman behind the counter. I completely understand not taking food orders at closing time, but we were not ordering food. We had been there since 7:00 PM, and they close at 8:00 PM. We felt rushed out the door and unwelcome. To make matters worse, after I had to drink my wine quickly just to leave, the man locked the door right in front of us while we were still standing outside. We hadn’t even been outside for a full minute. It felt intentional and extremely disrespectful, as if we were not welcome to ever return. This experience was shocking and disappointing, especially for a place we’ve supported for years.
Been eating here for years but tonight, it was awful. Catfish was tasteless and the tartar sauce is served in containers and it was old and very watery because it had separated and was nasty. My fries weren’t freshly fried and were cold. The corn bread wasn’t warm enough to melt butter. This was on a Saturday night at 7pm. I doubt I’ll be going back any time soon. Long John Silvers is much much better
