The steak night here is one of my favorites. It is a huge ribeye, potatoes, and salad for about $25. The portions are big enough for two, so sometimes my daughter and I will order an extra side of potatoes and split the steak and salad. They have steak sauce and salt/pepper available, but I rarely see anyone add anything to the steaks... they are simply THAT good! They also have a wine special on steak night which makes Thursdays and DOUBLE winner for us.

Yesterday was our first time here. I called the restaurant about the parking situation, because there was no where to park, and Eric the bartender was super nice. He told us where we could park. The hummus was delicious best I’ve had in a long time. We also had the prosciutto arugula flatbread pizza and it was so delicious. Eric was very nice and made us feel comfortable. The place is really nice. We will definitely be back.

We met our daughter and coworkers for a drink and eats after work. Parking was ample. Drink service and selection was great. A selection of draft beer available. The eats covered a nice range of choices: soft pretzels, tacos, flatbreads, humus tray, and more. All were presented nicely, very good and easy to share. They do not take cash so bring your cards. There is inside, front porch, and patio seating. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I'd go back again.

My first time here and I will definitely be back. I had the strawberry basil cooler and it was really good. The place is nice with music playing in the background but not too loud so you can have a conversation. They do have bar bites. The also have steak night on Thursdays.

Very enjoyable, cute bar. So, you sit where you want and go to the bar to get your order. They bring your food to your table. I usually don't enjoy places with minimal table service, but this was different. Very easy to go to the bar and order your drinks. There was very little wait at the bar and this was a Friday evening. The bartenders are really nice and the drinks were really good. They will clear your table if you have used glasses and dishes. The food and drinks were good. They do have happy hour specials, but it was affordable without the specials. Had fun with some friends from work. It was nice. Oh, and the music was jamming!

My favorite Sunday brunch spot.

Super nice staff. Great draft options with local talents taking the main stage. Dog friendly patio with all the best boyes. Small parking lot with some street parking. The wife and I really enjoy this spot on a slow evening, we get a beer and some cheese and drink the beer and eat the cheese and watch people with their dogs. Good times.

Came in on a cloudy February afternoon. They have a great happy hour on drinks and “shareables,” so ordered a couple of Yellow Roses, a beer pretzel and their street tacos. Everything was yummy, and Eric couldn’t have been nicer! We will definitely be back!

Looking for great, easy drinks, great food + brunch (seriously say no more), plus an laid back atmosphere? This will hands down become one of your favorite places. The bartenders are fantastic and make phenomenal drinks as well (highly recommend the Strawberry Basil Cooler). I highly recommend swinging by this fantastic spot!

First time here was thursday on steak night and we will be returning. A 14 oz steak cooked to perfection with scallop potatoes and side salad was just what I needed and for a reasonable price, thank you for a great experience!

This is a neat place. Large outside patio to dine or drink on. They have dinner specials several nights. We went on steak night. The steak was great, cooked properly, and served in a timely manner. The cutest place to have brunch with the austin rainey street feel. The brunch menu is a limited small menu, however for such a small menu you can't go wrong with what ever item you choose. Each food item is delicious! If you have a friend that can never decide on what to eat then the limited menu might just be for them. Must have --> blood orange mimosa!! Best blood orange mimosas i have tasted in houston. Go ahead and just treat yourself to a full carafe.....just do it!! One sunday i came and a DJ was playing some amazing 90's music.......haven't seen him since. We get a limited amount time of amazing weather to enjoy patio life.....when the breeze comes in sit your booty in the patio and gaze at downtown houston and some awesome grafiti art.

I have never been here and came across it as I was driving by. The drinks were tasty and the food although it's a limited menu is delicious. I had a work meeting here and my team loved it. The indoor seating is a bit limited but great different sectioned areas/rooms. The patio and outdoor seating is HUGE!!! I got so many Austin vibes from this place I'll definitely be returning. I will say be careful with parking as it is limited on site and the parking lot across the street belongs to a different business establishment.

I love that they provide directions on how this place operates bc it's actually 2 places in one. The other is Leeland House. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They serve brunch all day, and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking was not plentiful, but it's there. Try the lemonade, TX Benny (egg fried), and the shrimp & grits. I will go back. Re: response from owner, I'm not sure what your response means.

I had an awesome brunch here. The food and mimosas were great and there was a lot of patio space. It definitely filled up on a Sunday though and I had no idea there would be a DJ so if you're looking for something quiet you may need to do some investigating beforehand.

Omg! This place! I came on a Thursday and had a great time!!! They had the best specials! I got the grilled shrimp, mash potatoes, and salad… let me say… I might need to come back every Thursday!! This was first time at this establishment. I had the honor of being served by Jojo as my bartender. His customer service skills were superb, and he went the extra mile to make sure I was accommodated. By far some of the most top tier service I have had in a very long time. I rsvp'd a table for my bridesmaid proposal here at "around the corner" and let me tell you that everything went better than I planned!. Everything was beautiful the wine was delicious and the bartender gave us two complimentary cheese trays for my guests and I. Every staff member was super nice and attentive. My Bridesmaids loved the location they felt so comfortable. My fiancee was with the guys at 8th wonder about 2 minutes away from us & to top it off at the end of our night the groomsmen arrived and ordered more wine for us ! :) They also fell involve with "around the corner". We had lots of space and privacy for our gathering and everything inside was beautiful! Thank you for making my night so special!

Huge tvs, indoor and outdoor seating. First come first serve. Plenty of shade and fans. Benedict was perfect. The biscuit was so flaky that even with the gravy it wasn't too thick. My only downfall was that I asked for a mock tail and it was $7, when a regular mimosa is $5, and an upgraded juice mimosa was $6. It was half club soda. But me and my husband had a wonderful experience, its close to home and will definitely be back

Vibe- Literally the same chill vibe with great music as Leeland House that is literally right next door and I found out they’re owned by the same person so go figure! There’s plenty of seating options outside and inside. You find your seat and then order at the bar. Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I got a beach please cocktail to drink and a chicken sandwich without the chicken and extra onions to make it vegetarian; they were both good. Parking- There’s parking right in front of the building and if you get there right when they open you’ll probably get one, but if not there’s street parking.

Great service and enjoyed the company of the other friendly patrons. Eado, (East of Downtown) area is up and coming and this was the perfect down to earth spot to relax at.

This is a nice little place among a cluster of eateries across from 8th Wonder. It's in an old house and is really a neat place with inside and outside tables. Orders are made at the bar for drinks and food. That's the only thing I was disappointed about. The food is of the caliber worthy of a good sit down meal. The staff was very friendly. And, the food was served hot. I enjoyed my visit and will be back. But I'll be sitting at the bar next time. I recommend the Crispy Cauliflower, it is fantastic.

I do like this place. I believe they crowd control by their prices. Seating can be a challenge, especially on bitterly cold nights. They do try and provide outside heaters, but they look like they're about 25 years old. Owner is very sweet and the staff is generally good. Not everyone they've hired has fit the atmosphere but they generally do a good job with hiring. If there was a way to give an additional half a star i would. Just a few things I would clean up if I was the owner.

We went on a Thursday during happy hour for the $24 rib eye steak meal. It's a great deal However, the steak tasted like Texas Roadhouse quality steak without seasoning. It's okay if you like bland meat. Use A1. You're better off going to On The Kirb on Wednesdays for their $25 filets for a better tasting steak. My daughter had the Florentine flatbread which was very tasty. It's tastes even better when dipped in marinara sauce. We shared a deep dish cookie which was delicious. The Freaky Tiki was fantastic. However, it was on the light side. My margarita was great. The DJ came out at 6:30 with cool 90s music. Nice cool atmosphere. Will visit again.

Cute spot for brunch with a large patio. Good 90s R&B and hip-hop spinning so my teenager enjoyed it. The patio has fans and shade to keep you cool which is a plus. You order both food and drinks at the counter and the staff brings you the items. The food is good and is served fast. They do have a pre-existing service charge on your food tab, and when the tablet spins around it requests any additional tip before you even get served.

The food was excellent! The employees were nice and helpful it is more of a self service spot. Atmosphere would be nice in warm weather but we went on a cold day and there were not outdoor heaters. The indoor seating was small and already filled so that was not an option for us. Would go again because food was great and came out quick!

The wings were mediocre, the pizza tastes very good and so did the burger. The atmosphere was great however even after going over my order multiple times and even with only 2 modifications that they do my order was still incorrect. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, I got pepperoni and sausage, we ordered the cheeseburger with no onions and tomato on the side, we got onions on it. We would go back if in the area but not make a special trip into the city specifically for this place.

Food was good. Just a bit pricey. The vibe has changed since the last time I was there but last time was an early Saturday and this was a Sunday brunch. Lots of UMich fans in town also may have affected the atmosphere. Nothing bad or negative. Just less cozy.

Good drinks and have daily deals. For example, they have $20 bottled wine and snack deals on Tuesdays. Good location with a view of downtown Houston = a lot of outdoor seating. I got a blackberry gin drink that was tasty...cause tbh you can't go wrong with blackberries and gin!! Four stars bc it could have been stronger on my preference.

Nice atmosphere..but we went during happy hour and had the 3 tacos for $12 special..2 cocktails and an appetizer and it was almost 50 dollars, which seemed pretty steep for what we got. The tacos were So Salty that they were almost inedible..between 2 people we could not finish the 3 tiny tacos because they were so intensely salty.. To quote my partner.." it's amazing that a place located so close to Brothers Tacos could serve up something so bad"

Went for Sunday brunch, it was definitely the place to be. The atmosphere was inviting and there was a dj outside. We ordered at the bar and sat inside. The smash burger was above average. Unfortunately, our order got lost and the service to get our food was slow. Everyone was nice, just busy!

I’ve been there a couple times and it’s never been super packed which is one of the things I like about the place. Went last night and there was only one bartender who was very nice but the weight period was insane for a hole in the wall. On top of they didn’t have ingredients to make drinks that were on the menu And then when we got something that was on the shelf, they didn’t have the mixers. It was definitely a off night not sure if we will return.

This place is very cool, the drinks are good and the ambiance is so much fun and lively. Unfortunately I gave it a 3 star because I waited 2 hours to get my food, despite me asking several times. The poor server/bartender was on it though and props to her.

Fam Jam, held here, was something else. I hate to say it but it gives scam vibes. They started charging for tickets at the most recent event, which was last night, and I'm not understanding why. At one point on their instagram stories, I could've sworn they mentioned that with the recent change it would mean more merchandise available for everyone, but there was a price on the merch. Well, depending on who you were. For instance, some people said they got fans for free at the door, but then the DJ would say over the speaker that they were available for purchase. The flyer mentioned that with the new price for tickets that there would be a limited amount sold to help create a better experience and environment, but I'm not sure how that was achieved. It was overpacked to the point where I could barely move out of my seat without bumping into someone. According to one of the staff members, they sold 700 tickets which is crazy for that little space. I would suggest that they have a menu readily available because for three drinks, I paid $50+ after taxes and the 20% automatic gratuity. Apparently they had champagne bottles available for half that price, but when I asked the people at the bar what they had, they didn't even mention that. I would've loved to have saved money because the price I paid for three drinks was ridiculous and not worth it considering the size of the drink was small. It didn't even come in the customized Fam Jam cup, but some drinks did, and again, I wouldn't know which drinks those were. Lastly, the music was just okay to me. They didn't really start playing music to get you hype until like 8pm. Every time the DJs played songs people were vibing to, they changed it to another song. It didn't seemed like they were just playing whatever. This event definitely needs some work. I don't think I would want to pay for another ticket because I feel like they're just taking your money and not really doing anything different from when the event was free.

It was so loud. We were going to go for steak night last week. Drove all the way there to discover it was irrationally loud.

I’ve been coming to Around the Corner for steak night for a while and usually enjoy it, which is why this experience was disappointing. We arrived around 9:00 PM, later than I usually go… and weren’t told the restaurant had switched to a self-service ordering system. We sat for about 15–20 minutes before I had to walk to the bar to ask what was going on, only then learning we needed to order ourselves. There was no signage or communication explaining this. After ordering at the bar, giving our table number, and asking if everything was okay, we were told yes. We then waited 30–45 minutes for our food while tables that arrived well after us were being served. When I went back to ask about the delay, I was told our food would be out soon while plates were actively being carried to those later tables, which added to the confusion. Mind you it was nobody really there.. and stray cats just strolling through the tables. We waited maybe another 10 min.. until our food came out. Shortly after, the person who took our order at the bar came to the table and said there was an issue with my card on his end and the ticket never went through, even though my card had already been authorized and I had already confirmed everything was okay when ordering. Communication throughout the process felt unclear. They did offer 25% off and complimentary shots, which I appreciated. However, by the time we finished eating, the restaurant was closing …the TVs were turned off, the bar had already closed, and there was no table check-in. I didn’t sign or approve anything; my card was automatically charged (including automatic gratuity), and everyone simply moved on. I don’t mind self-service, but this felt impersonal and disorganized. I prefer having a waiter or waitress so there’s clear communication and someone to go to when issues come up. The food is solid…but the service and communication just need serious improvement. I’m sharing this feedback mainly to highlight the lack of structure and communication.

I came here for Steak Night. There were like 3 other tables in addition to mine, we were 2 people. We say hii to the waitress (to call her) when we see her, she responds: "ohh do I know you??" Awkward but ok. She takes our order like 10min after. We ask questions she doesn't have a clue about what wins they had on draft, what sides are the most popular, etc. Then she says they need to hold the full amount of the order from our card, including, why not, 18% gratuity, which would be automatically charged to all tables. We don't like this but still, we're already there, and we want to have a good time. My card goes through, I get the pending charge notification but then the waitress comes back 10min later to do that transaction again since she didn't send the order to the kitchen.. what?? So they end up passing my card, again (otherwise, no food for us..). Food was just ok. Somehow cold, but good seasoning. When we wanted to ask for another glass of wine no one was showing up. When some staff finally showed up, he asked "oh do you not have a waiter?".. so we had to ask him if he could call her. Anyways, as expected.. it took much longer to get our glasses of wine. Anyways.. all the bad experience, like I said, came with an upfront charged 18% gratuity.. the explanation was that they do it to take care of their people..but I'm just here wondering how they take care of their clients. It wasn't a busy day AT ALL 3 or 4 tables at most. My first and last time coming here.

Placed my order, more than an hour had passed before I flagged someone down and asked where the rest of our food was? I had already finished my salad and drink. He had not been served at all. She asked if we had switched tables, which I informed we hadn’t. She then comes back and offers us a free drinks (we declined, we don’t drink alcohol) stating that for some reason our order was never placed/made. The food did eventually come out and it looked aesthetically pleasing but was NOT worth the wait. I’ve never had crunchy French toast & was not a fan. I do recommend you guys train your staff properly and manage the kitchen properly. It was extremely disappointing.

What bar closes at three pm on a saturday? This place needs to become a breakfast place if that's what it wants. Don't go here if you want drinks I guess just brunch for a time frame of 9-3

I keep coming to Down the Street because it’s walking distance from my house, but every single time, I regret it. The service, especially from the female bartenders, is consistently rude, snarky, and impolite. It’s not a one-off experience; it’s every single time. Today (July 11 at 4:16 PM) I ordered a sandwich and asked if the sauce was spicy. The bartender snapped back with “It’s buffalo sauce” in an annoyed tone. I asked again, just trying to understand how spicy it is, and she mockingly repeated “It’s buffalo sauce” as if I was dumb for asking. What does that even mean? Yesterday was more of the same. I ordered a smash burger and asked for mayonnaise to be included. When it wasn’t, I had to go back, wait in line again, and when I finally got to the counter, the brunette bartender acted like I was a nuisance just for asking again. No apology, no eye contact, just rude. Honestly, I’m over it. The food is decent, but the staff attitudes are consistently trash. Do better.

Attended an AYCE crawfish event on 6.28 where I paid 59.00 for a wristband for all you can eat. Event was supposed to be from 4-10pm Got in line at 4:45 and had the vendor tell everyone in the line it would be half an hour before any more crawfish was served. Found out the owner of Around the Corner was supposed to supply the crawfish to the vendor so the vendor can cook it. Owner delivered the crawfish at 4:00. The crawfish sacks had snails in them so the vendor had to take time to pick out the snails before cooking. This put the vendor very behind schedule. At best, I had 2 pounds of crawfish due to wait times and the vendor running out of cooked crawfish multiple times. They ran out of crawfish around 7:30. Event was run poorly, stay away from this place. Everything about it feels scammy.
