Like many others, I was initially not impressed at first, I went here for their grand opening instead of my usual spot and felt it was lackluster and was mediocre. I left unsatisfied and was ready to give this place a bad review It was similar to a cafeteria style buffet which I didn’t like and the entrance was confusing. My husband, however, really liked it and insisted we come back tomorrow with my niece and brother. I figured that they didn’t have everything down in the beginning and decided to give them another chance. My husband even offered a few suggestions to the employees…. and to my surprise, they took it in. The entire atmosphere did a complete 180. The food was a lot better and lunch prices got cheaper. For $20 a person, we got a lot for our money and they also changed to a self serve! I figured they were still maneuvering their first day which is understandable and I’m really impressed with their changes. I highly recommend their braised dish varieties like fish and eggplant which was something new they added. The layout is confusing, there is only one opening. My husband was a big fan of their dim sum and pho soup. The pho soup is really delicious for a buffet. If you like seafood, their variety is pretty diverse. I will be back to update for dinner, hopefully it will still be worth it. UPDATE: I came here again on Sunday at noon which has all day pricing and wanted to try a little bit of everything. Both their crawfish flavors are exceptionally well done. As for drinks, I recommended their Thai tea, a little sweet but very good. We usually skip the cold bar at buffets, but I was surprised by their cold bar variety. It wasn’t worth it in the beginning but they have gotten much better in quality and variety since opening. A lot of the one star reviews came from people who first dined in here and had a bad experience, they have gotten much better and I’m anticipating for better. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will dine again
I went when they first opened the grand opening the day of the place locked everything that you expect now they have a new management this place is amazing. The food was excellent. The taste was what you expect fresh delicious and healthy. The crawfish and the oysters are my top tier. I will be back again and again I will support this 100%. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I came by because my friends recommended me to come. I personally really enjoyed the buffet. I went with my kid and husband and he really enjoyed the noodle soup. He is a very picky and the selection they have is great. I had a little taste of everything and was surprisingly good for buffet food. They had fresh fruits and lots of seafood options. I got myself a plate and finished it all!
Many selections including Chinese dim sum, Hibachi, Japanese sushi & sashimi, BBQ pork, Vietnamese Pho, beef noodles, good selections of desserts。 Restaurant was just opened for a few months and looked very clean. Price was right for the food selection and quality!
Came for dinner and there was a good variety of options. Food was good and worth it! Looks like they made improvements since grand openings reviews. The service was great and the place was clean.
It’s a pay first than eat buffet, Chinatown’s biggest, good! Hoping they will keep being good food quality!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Worth a Visit! I recently visited Royal Buffet in Houston’s Chinatown, and I honestly think it deserves a lot more love than it's getting online. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, and everything I tried was fresh and well-prepared. The restaurant itself is huge and beautifully decorated, providing a very comfortable dining experience. Compared to other budget buffets in Houston, Royal Buffet actually stands out — they have items you normally wouldn’t find elsewhere at this price point, like shaved ice, shrimp dumplings, sea snails, and even sashimi (salmon and tuna!) available during dinner. The quality and variety you get here for around $20 is really impressive. I know the restaurant faced some harsh criticism when it first opened, partly because of the higher prices, but they have since adjusted them, and now I believe it offers great value. Definitely better than many other lower-end buffets around town. If you’re looking for a fresh, spacious, and more upscale buffet experience without breaking the bank, give Royal Buffet a try. One visit was enough to change my mind completely — the current low ratings definitely don’t reflect the real quality of this place!
I am a fan of this new restaurant called Royal Buffet in Houston Chinatown. I like the location. There are plenty of parking. The interior is huge. Service was good. Food was excellent. I came here during lunch. The lunch hour is longer than most other buffet restaurants. I really like the hot food section. The dimsum was fresh and delicious. Getting upstairs is kind of confusing. I just wish the rear entrance from the mall lobby had a sign and accessible. I'll bring some friends here to try.
I like this place. I didn’t see all those seafood posted by other reviews, some areas were closed, but for the price, the food I had was nice! Not so many people there, I enjoyed a relaxing dinner time. They charge before head. Make sure you have your wallet ready😂
Exceedingly familiar with a vast selection of culinary delights, each dish presents an exquisite array of flavors designed to tantalize and please every discerning palate.
This was our 1st time here, the service was awesome, the food was fresh and we went around 715pm and it kept coming. Alot of other buffets around that time would have cold food, and bad service, not this place 🔥🔥🔥 they were perfect all around. Def recommend, everyone was nice and it was a great experince. Will be returning and future repeat customers.
Busy but not too crowded. One of the few places open after Hurricane Beryl. The staff was very friendly and prompt. The food, except some of the sushi, was hot and good. Nice clean buffet. The tea tasted like tea, not a watered down version. The buffet had a wide, wide variety of foods, including desserts. NoMy 14 yr old grandson loved it and ate 3 plates, no waste.
I moved to Houston a year ago and only tried one other place besides this and it doesn’t compare! My husband and I loveddd the food here it was absolutely delicious and we loved the variety and options they offer. Our waitress was the sweetest too bad we didn’t catch her name :( but highly recommend!
OMG!!! THE smorgasbord of good food! I had no complaints... Even the waitress SUN was nice and helpful... Super Kool and laid back... She explained to me what some of the unfamiliar foods were, and they had all kinds of sauces and different types of sushi. Their BBQ ribs are to die for! I wished I knew what sauce they used.... They keep it clean, the bathrooms were tidy, and it's was just allover a good experience. This place was recommended to me, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to y'all.
King Palace is conveniently located on 249 in between Grant and 1960. Always plenty of parking with a very clean, safe and well-lit parking lot. My family's been eating at King Palace since they first open at the other location down the road and the service is still fantastic with very hot and fresh food always on the buffet. The management and wait staff are always extremely nice and willing to go above and beyond to make your dining experience exceptional. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood for fantastic food at a great price.
Great variety of food. Its a nice vibe. Some of the shrimp was not fresh. The bread was also hard. Lots of seating and open tables.
First time visiting on grand opening day! Lots of different options. They had snow crabs, oysters, sashimi, and snails. Noodle soup was also tasty! Only leaving 4 stars because you have to get drinks and entrees by yourself, but was told before I was seated.
The owner give big discount , the price is lower to 21.99 per adult and 11.99 for kids 7-11 night time . The oyster are fresh and not small ,the ice bar is a plus ,my daughter love it ! service is ok and the place is very spacious!
I thoroughly enjoyed a meal here today! I was part of a birthday party for a lovely lady, who's favorite buffet is here. I was pretty skeptical after reading reviews, swearing I'd not touch any sashimi, but it was really good! The salmon sashimi was cold, though I wasn't a fan of their gari, it was too dry. Their wasabi was decent. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, finding which entrance to go into took me some driving around, clearer signage would be helpful. You can either take a thin escalator or the stairs to reach the restaurant, the 2nd floor is all theirs. The hostesses up front were friendly & kind, moving tables & chairs together for our party of 16 or so. They even stored the cake that was brought into 1 of the coolers, helping to keep it fresh till we were ready for it. The place is clean, a few chandeliers scattered around, with lots of different food stations. I didn't have any problem finding several different foods I enjoyed. Staff was attentive, removing plates as they were finished. The soda machine wasn't easy to see but quickly pointed out when asked. I'd return for another meal, it was enjoyable.
Let’s start with this isn’t a regular buffet. U pay before u eat. The price is 23.99 for the LUNCH. So I got there right when they were opening. I heard the food is better when u get there when they were opening. Half the food wasn’t all out yet. U have to refill your own drinks. The food was great except some of it was cold. Like the crawfish was ice cold. Everything else good. Unfortunately I don’t eat that much but I tried a little bit of everything and what I did eat it was good.
I like their food and service! There was no waiting time, we were able to seat as soon as we got there. Waitress was kind and very helpful. Food is good and fresh, two thumbs up!!
The Food was delicious! Plenty of different dishes to choose from, King Palace has a bit of everything. My favorite was the chicken on a skewer, went back for seconds because it was so tender and juicy! The Whole shrimp was on point and everything else I had was so good. I can't wait to go back, great place to eat with friends and family.
Food temperature wasn’t hot enough and failed to keep pan full as pictured shows. I inquired about it and was told to wait one minute well that one minute took forever. Went to informed desk. She went to ask and he suddenly had one ready. I’m assuming that the restaurant would’ve be closing in 2 hours, he didn’t want a whole new pan out. But there was a lot of ppl still was in there to withhold. $17.99 per adult is not cheap to be withholding anything It’s called a buffet people comes to get their money worth. Anyway that was my experience.
It was good until it wasn’t - they don’t clean their mussels. Then it made me wonder what else are they not doing?…
Worst buffet I have ever had. They have huge space. But tastes of the food are not that level according to the price ($22.99+tax).Items also not properly labeled. You can definitely try but not recommend.
I would say avoid this place unless they improve in the future. Heard about this place, walked in, paid, and got seated. They had a section for vegetarian dishes which seemed nice, but the food i got salmon, shrimp, and other dishes were cold and not warm at all, sushi was what you would expect at a buffet, the dim sum seemed like it was from the frozen aisle at the grocery store and the chicken feet tasted bloody which I almost vomited from.
This restaurant used to have really good food. Today many dishes were cold that should have been hot. The fried crab many had a foul smell and were not able to be eaten. Children were at the bar licking their fingers and touching the serving utensils. My nephew found hair in his food. My son said all of his food was cold and hard. I expressed some concerns with the manager and a follow up never occurred. Needless to say we will not be returning for a long while if ever. Maybe today was just an off day. We will see.
The food was good, but there was a long black hair in the middle of the plantains. I really wanted some plantains because they looked good, or they would've if not for the hair. So, after attempting to communicate this to a few servers, we were met with a communication barrier. Of the few servers who claim to speak English, none of them are actually fluent enough to get the hair out of the plantains and bring some fresh ones out. She just kept assuring us that it was not her hair and she will get it fixed. This continued, with zero results, even after I put Google in to Chinese English translator mode. And, about 45 minutes later the employee responsible for the buffet took out the one piece of plantain that was most affected by the hair, along with the hair, and continued on as if he'd corrected the issue. Needless to say, I did not eat any plantains.
Maybe they just opening week but food is worse than other chinese buffet and pricy. Nothing special. Not recommend will go to other buffet lucky palace or umi cheaper and better
The cups for drinks had good and sticky crap all over it. Asking for replacement cups or Styrofoam cups was like insulting the staff. No response, no apologies, etc. If the cups are like this then the stuff they cook with probably isn't any better. First and last time here.
Some of the food tasted like they had already gone bad but they still served them. The fresh plates at the buffet tables all looked dirty, full of stains. I actually had to bring the empty plates back to our own table to wash them myself before we could use them to pick up food at the buffet. They made you pay in full before you even sit down. That’s the only reason we still tried to eat, but we left after eating only 1 plate and spending 10 minutes there because the food was just too bad. For $80 for 3 people, I feel like we ate crap. I really regret giving this buffet a try. This restaurant is way, way overpriced for the quality of food it serves. I consider the $80 we spent there a donation since we barely ate and I suspect this restaurant will go out of business soon.
Took my family there for dinner. Upon entering the smell was unpleasant, but thought it might be from the street. The food was cold and without flavor. The seafood was mushy and inedible. The pepper steak was akin to shoe leather minus the taste. After bringing this up with the manager and hostess, they "comped" my sweet tea that had no flavor. They attempted to charge us for my wife's water - not bottled water, but tap water. I was told "If you don't like, don't come back". Horrible food, horrible customer service.
OMG the worst experience I ever got. I got poisoned, two days already and iam still having stomach pain fever and diarrhea. Food was cold bad smell bad tasting I was trying different dishes but no even basic standards. The only good thing was watermelon
Went in after we had a long doctors visit and were starving. Looking at the food I could just tell it wasn’t going to be good. The vegetables had a slimy gelatinous substance all over it, chicken was hard, had a horrible taste and was cold. The Mac and cheese was an abnormal deep yellow color and watery. I’m pregnant and couldn’t risk me or my children getting food poisoning so after a couple of bites we left. Paid $65 which I think we were overcharged for 2 adults and 1 kid plate (had 2 kids with us but one of them is 2 yrs old). Someone who wasn’t our server came up to give us fortune cookies and was like “you guys didn’t stay long! You guys didn’t eat much!”. Servers are nice but not a great place to eat.
This place was not good. Let's get the bad out if the way so we can end on a positive note. The fried shrimp were over overcooked. The squid was overcooked and tasted as if it has been cleaned with some chemical I could not recognize. The sauteed mushrooms were cold and the sauce had begun to congeal. The sushi had soy sauce drizzled on top. No, never ever, EVER should that happen. The condiments station needed labels. I couldn't tell the Ranch dressing from the tarter sauce. The Italian dressing had honey mustard in it. Now, the good. Sun, my waitress was great. The buffet price is less than $12 on the weekend. The place is clean. The Crawfish were very well seasoned. Skip this place and dine at E Star. I'm sorry, but I won't be back.
