Baked potatoes are huge. Brisket was perfectly done. Fries are homemade and a must have. Mac and cheese is creamy. We were too full to try the pecan pie that we heard so much about. Will have to next time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down one of the best spots in town! First and foremost, Papa’s Barbecue has the BEST cheeseburgers on this side of town—no question. Top-notch every single time. 🍔🔥 The barbecue? Absolutely to die for. Just straight-up good, no hype needed. And if you haven’t tried their weekend wings… OMG. Next level. 🤤 The place itself is clean, welcoming, and well-kept, and the staff is always friendly, kind, and makes you feel right at home. This is one of those spots you keep coming back to because everything—from the food to the service—is just right. Highly recommend!
Texas BBQ restaurant in Houston is a favorite place to eat. All your favorite BBQ dishes are served here. The condiments bar includes your sauce choices and other sides to include pepper choices. The decorations on the walls display photos of the historical cattle ranching era. Big Plus regarding this location is it is a favorite place to eat for Houston Police Officers. Review completed 2/10/26.
Solid BBQ have family styleoption, the staff was helpful as it was my first time. Portions were good. Like my sauce a little thicker but very flavorful. I would recomed it.
I will give 5 stars because most of the times is delicious. However today I went and I don't think their baby back ribs are their strongest. They were dry and salty. I did get brisket and my wife got a loaded potatoe and was perfect. I hope it was a one time bad experience with their ribs. I will come next time and if their ribs still bad I will change my review.
I stumbled upon this place while driving back from work, and wow—what a great find! I’m not from Houston, but I’m sure glad I stopped in. The ribs were incredible—tender, smoky, and so flavorful they didn’t even need sauce. The potato salad was easily one of the best I’ve ever had, perfectly creamy and seasoned. The coleslaw hit that perfect balance of sweet and tangy. And to top it all off, the pecan pie was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. If you’re craving real Texas barbecue done right, Pappas Bar-B-Q is a must-try.
Very nice meal! Pulled pork was home style ... tender, flavorful, and not overly processed. I appreciate that the pulled pork is not pre-sauced, letting you choose the type and amount of sauce. Love that they have a mustard based sauce option in addition to the usual sweet/hot reds. Beef sausage was great and used a finer grain grind, which I prefer. Righteous BBQ.
Usually love this place but this location was out of baked potatos and we ordered salads, instead. The meats, brisket and sausage, were served cold in the salad so most of it had to be thrown away. That would have been fine with turkey and chicken but not beef. Lesson learned.
Had the catfish it was good and they serve you a good amount of fish and fries. We had some pork ribs they were dry, not as good as other times that I've had them. Good customer service.
I ordered a chopped beef sandwich basket with fries. The sandwich was good, but the dish was NOT a $17.00 dish. The amount of meat was OK but not great. The fries were long and had a good flavor, seemed to be pre-seasoned, but some were soft and flimsy, not firm and crispy like others were. We also ordered a tossed salad with pulled pork. I should have taken a picture of the pulled pork, which they must have measured out to be 1/4 pound because it was a very small amount. For $12.95, I expected to have a generous amount of meat for the salad. I had to wait about 5 minutes for the basket to be ready, the buns were toasted on the inside only, brioche buns, cold on the outside. There was plenty of kitchen staff, so many that it seemed that they were bumping into each other and stepping on each other's toes. We did arrive right at 11:00 a.m. though, which is opening time. Maybe they require lots of staff once they get busier? Overall, the flavors are the meats was great!!!!! The salad was fresh and great!!!! The portion of meat was good, the fries were cooked just OK. My daughter did love the diced olives on the salad bar!!!!
First time visiting it's close to the airport... Combos and family meals are as listed.. no changes or substitutes so you have to buy a la carte and buy the pound 🤔 The food is not served hot 🔥 Recommended by airport staff... Good flavor ribs but overall. Unfortunately disappointing.😔
This was our first time visiting Houston with our family, and we were excited to try some authentic Texas BBQ. We recently dined at Pappas Bar-B-Q and ordered the Family Combo. Surprisingly, there were only a few occupied tables inside. While the prices are reasonable, the quality left much to be desired. The meat was too dry and not to our taste. The dryness made it less enjoyable for us. This did not feel like authentic Texas BBQ. We hope the restaurant improves on this aspect. Overall, it’s not the experience we were hoping for.
This place is a decent bbq spot. The meats were very tender however not seasoned that well. It needs more flavor so that you can eat the meat without having to put bbq sauce on it or by eating the meat without having added pickles and jalepenos. Nonetheless the food was good and decently priced. I love the fact that there is a little side bar area with pickles, onions, jalepenos and all the sauces to top off your plate. The two item combo is what I ordered with chicken breast and brisket. As mentioned, very tender and juicy but the chicken did not have a whole lot of flavor but the brisket had a nice crust on it. The plate comes with bread and two sides. I got the salad which counts as two sides but it’s a decent sized bowl of salad and you can add all the toppings like tomato, red onion, banana peppers, cucumber, cheese and your choice of dressing. The sweet yams are also SUPER GOOD!! Highly recommend the habanero bbq sauce!! The cantaloupe agua fresca is delicious and you can get refills! They also have watermelon agua Fresca which is also very tasty. Highly recommend those! Further, the overall aromatics cool, quiet, or at least at the time I was there. Country music playing and lowkey vibes. Enjoy!
Made a order yesterday online to be picked up at 11am, I arrived early at one of the curbside pickup spots and texted the number back with the pickup spot number and waited. From 10:55 to 11:20 no one came to bring our order, so began to call and the line was busy. After multiple calls I finally had Christina answer about 11:23 and she apologized for the wait and explained she would bring out my order personally. I waited until 11:30 still no came out so I went inside and had to wait more then when finally helped I noticed my order was already ready under neath the counter which seemed odd to be under the counter instead of on top of a counter, and when arrived home of course the food was slightly warm it needed re heating. Whats the point in having a curbside pickup if no one comes to bring your order and you have to go inside yourself. Pappas has changed there food over the yrs from the sauces to the rice to the macaroni and it's just not the same as it use to be at least the meat and a few sides are still decent enough to still want to come back but maybe to another location.
They rush and their food was not the best. The 1/2 chicken was terribly under cooked. The brisket was great but not excellent. We had lunch from the Pit Room, the day prior and only went to Pappas because a local recommended it. But Pappas can't compare to the Pit Room. See my review on the Pit Room...
I ordered 2 brisket fries with an extra queso and 1/4 lb of beef for $52 I let the cashier know the last time I ordered this I was shorted the queso on one order. This time I did get 2 queso but it was not even a eighth of the container in it. I feel this was because I mentioned I was shorted. I paid $52 and should not have less than what I ordered. I also had the impression she did not want to be there.
The fact that this restaurant has 4 stars is crazy. Last night I decided to try this place since I heard mix things. Some people say it’s really good, others say it’s bad. I’m in the bad category. Placed an order last night online and the order said it would be ready in about 10-20 minutes. Perfect. Get there right on time. Set the order for curbside, text the curbside number. Wait. Then I wait. Then 15 minutes go past and nothing. So I walk in and stand in a line of other angry customers whose orders are late, missing or just incorrect. I finally get my food and pay, which I noticed I don’t think my food was under a heat lamp, then I leave. Open up my food and I could just tell it was not going to be good. The beans were cold, to the point where I said out loud “These needs a thermometer because this is cold.” The macaroni and cheese was watery. Also, who uses shells for macaroni and cheese? That’s a salad item. The meat itself was dry and lukewarm, didn’t even finish it. Tasted like a soggy shoe. The bbq baked potato was hot, but the meat on it was chewy and I think they used too much sour cream because all I could taste was sour cream. Also, I ordered a garlic bread and paid an up charge. It was just a one side toasted piece of bread. Idk even what I paid. Over all very disappointed in this experience and I hate to say this may be the worst meal I have ever had in Texas. I ended up throwing about 70% away,
Ordered the chef salad that comes with 3 meats, I opted for chopped brisket instead and they barely put any, less than a measuring cup, it's supposed to be 3 meats swapped for brisket. You do know when you skimp on meat to save money people don't order again right? I rather order the guac steak salad from chachos for the same price.
Toughest pork ribs I have ever eaten. Could not even cut them with a knife. Could not recommend this location avoid avoid avoid.
Cafeteria BBQ.... I ordered the mixed platter. The portion was small. The rib was more fat than meat The ham was at least 1/3 fat. The Mac n Cheese was luke warm and the meat was slightly above that. My issue was the assembly line. Nothing was terrible. But Nothing I ate tasted better than buffet or high school cafeteria food. The deserts are a joke. You can get a pie from Kroger for what they would charge you for 2 slices. Went here because I wanted BBQ for my birthday spending almost $35 for half the quality and quality they should have given. At least I know now the place is just over rated and to avoid it. Bummer of a birthday choice 🫤
I recently spent $45 on two plates at Pappas Bar-B-Q and left extremely disappointed. At over $22 per plate, I expected generous portions and quality that matched the price. Instead, the portions were surprisingly small and definitely not worth what I paid. To make matters worse, I’ve been waiting on a gift card that I was told would be sent, and I still haven’t received it. Between the high prices, small portions, and lack of follow-through on the gift card, this experience has been frustrating from start to finish. For a place with such a well-known name, I expected much better value and customer service. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to the reputation.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. The customer service voice doesn’t save them from how disorganized they are. They gave our order to the wrong person. 2hr+ wait. The to-go line kept getting backed up because other customers were getting the wrong orders. Pappas might be tasty, but not worth the 2 HOURS wait. this location needs new management ASAP.
