It's the OK mayne. I love the one on 610 poop by NRG cuz that's where i normally go to in Houston. I'm from SQ Louisiana and only visit for doctors appointments. This one 🔥🔥 too tho. Always gotta get me some wings and rice...then to the store I need a 40 and some dice! Plenty food on ya plate. You gonna love it. You don't need no coonass just passin thru to tell ya that. Go make you a pass and see all the folks in and out all day. They ain't een gotta advertise. Dope sells itself. 🫡
I went to Timmy Chan ten minutes before closing, my wings was fresh, general tso chicken wasn't fried hard and my fried rice was fresh and not gummy. If I had went the other Timmy Chan on the south side. My food was so good, I had to go back today for more. Plus the customer service is always great, they really care about their customers.
I ain’t had no good authentic shrimp fried rice in bout 15 years.Growing up in Miami I always look for the brown colored rice with eggs, green onions, onions and bean sprout. I don’t want no yellow rice with peas and carrots”That Is Not Chinese Rice”I love their food it’s delicious to me❤️
One of my favorite places to grab some food at while visiting Houston. The wing are fried to perfection and freshly cooked. My favorite is the combo rice which has a combination of meats in it. Great customer service.
I've been coming to this place for as long as I can remember. From my days as a high school freshman all the way to now as an adult. The food is always hot and delicious. The amount of food you get for the price is ridiculous. The place is clean and well organized. I also like coming here after any events happening at the NRG stadium. I have never had a bad order either.
Food is pretty good for the price. The chicken wings are the best.
One of the best shrimp fried rice I've ever had and the fried chicken wings are on point too.
I been there five times and this last time there was a different cashier not the same one who usely service me this time this drive thru lady was so rude I literally had to get out of my car to reach my orders she barely put them out she wasn't trying to reach out the window to hand the food to I am not going to let that stop me from coming there when I have a taste for their food I can go in and order my thing is if that's not the job you applied for you need to move around because I always be nice to people and with that kind of anger she opposed was not good customer service at all people shouldn't bring their problems to the work place I usually go on Saturday for sunday's after church I don't have cook twice a week but this week I didn't go there especially when I am spending my 💰
No frills here, just chicken rice, but it's delicious Other Asian fare too, but IYKYK
Fresh, hot, flavorful, wings! One of my favorite wing spots in the area!
I've been to this location twice, and both times were on point☺️ I got chicken wings with combination rice, plus a side order of gravy. So if you can't make it to the one on Martin Luther, come to this one. This one is my new location.
the food was SO good!! Definitely will be coming back!
Man oh man. I'm from Louisiana. The fried chicken has to be like back home or I'm not touching it. I ordered the Sesame Chicken with chicken fried rice and 2 fried wings. When I tell you that chicken is seasoned to perfection and the crunch lasts for 3 days? Lawd hammercy! All the food was good! Best location hands down for me! 5 stars. The wait only took 10-15 mins!
Great wings! This is the only Timmy Chans where you can use your credit card. We need the others to get on board. I don't like caring cash. This location works for me.
The meal's ingredients were notably fresh. The shrimp fried rice was particularly well-prepared. The chicken wings, however, could have benefited from additional cooking time due to their substantial size.
Always fresh quality and on point whenever I need my fix. Never go wrong at this specific location. Best Quality of Food at this particular location period.
Definitely an HTOWN experience! $11 for 4 pieces of chicken & shrimp fried rice! Can’t beat it! My baby daddy from Fort Worth and loves houston music & ZRO & PAUL WALL talk about Timmy Chans so we had to do a stop by! Line was 8 cars long so we knew the food was gonna be great LOL!! The sweet & sour sauce on point!! Egg rolls 2 for $1.99!! U can’t beat it! Definitely worth the experience!! They close at 7 inside, so beware.
Excellent establishment not too crowded not over busy staff are able to function without making any mistakes clean quick service
I've been involved in Chinese business for over 16 years, dating back to the '90s on the East Coast, and this place serves the most authentic fried rice and wings! I come here almost every month, and it never disappoints—absolutely delicious, clean, and perfectly seasoned. The fried rice is what every restaurant should aim for—you can practically hear the grains dancing with flavor! No unnecessary soy sauce, just the right balance of seasoning and a touch of spicy sauce. The dine-in experience is decent—nothing standout—but if they made the space cozier, it would be more packed dine in. The takeout, however, is nonstop busy, and the service is always warm and welcoming. They seem to have multiple chain restaurant, that I cannot comment due to I have not went there. This place is the bomb! Would definitely come back over and over.
The people that work there are polite and greet you as you enter. And I like the fact that they accept credit/debit cards 👍🏽 I like the Shrimp Lo Mein or the Chicken Wings and Shrimp Fried Rice. I go right pass the Timmy Chan's on MLK. I compared the "Signature" chicken wing and the one on MLK re-drop theirs when you order. You can tell by the taste, color and texture. I asked one of the young ladies that take orders why the wings taste old and hard and she told me that they re-drop them. And some of the people that take orders have no customer service skills and need to be trained. They are either rude, working with bonnets on and patting their heads. They never greet you and most of the time, they always have attitudes. They just hire anyone. I haven't been to MLK Timmy Chan in about 5 years and I will never go back!!
Timmy Chan’s has been a staple in Houston for years, and it’s easy to see why. The place is always clean and well-kept, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. Their wings are crispy, flavorful, and always hit the spot, and the fried rice is a must-try — it's perfectly cooked and full of delicious flavors. If you're in the area and craving some solid comfort food, Timmy Chan's is the place to go. The food is consistently great, and it’s been a local favorite for good reason!
Great customer service and even greater location. It's clean inside if you want to eat there, but most people get to go. Go in there and act like you have some sense, or get out, this is a "seasoned" store, and neither they nor the paying customers are going to tolerate bs. As they shouldn't! Other than that, the food was great. Drove 40mins away after getting my food, and it was still piping hot! A1
The customer service isn’t the strongest, but the food is definitely some of the best around—and they accept credit cards, which is a big plus. A customer service refresher wouldn’t hurt, but honestly, the food is so good you’ll probably just deal with it and come back anyway
The food here is good and the give you a good size portion. Decent price as well. Younorser at the counter and gtqb yoir food when it's ready, but the tables arefine to sit at and tje place seems clean and accommodating.
The service was AWESOME The food was AWESOME The Kool-aide was SUPER DUPER SWEET! That will put you in a diabetic coma! I ordered two 3 piece catfish dinners, one with fried rice and the other with fries. I also ordered mozzarella cheese sticks. My kids and I enjoyed the food! I was happy I could use my credit card. Most Timmy Chans, you have to use cash only! I will be back!!
My colleague wanted to eat here for lunch one day and I was initially skeptical. After entering the establishment, I was shocked at how clean and big the place was. The service was quick, the food was good. I could tell that everything was made fresh and that the chicken was actually breaded and fried at the time of my order. The shrimp fried rice was sooooo good. I was glad I came and will be back !!
There rude I spent 70 bucks on 3 meals and told them I didn't get 2 peppers and she took the bags back and went thru my food. And Kool aid was weak as hell. Won't be going back to this one.
The food was good and I enjoyed that they checked my order after the new person made a mistake before my meal was preparied
Was hesitant to visit based on the one I visited on Cullen a while back but I was told when asked they are different from other locations this one accept credit cards unlike the one on Cullen that only accept cash. Anyway I ordered hot and spicy shrimp with shrimp fried rice it was fresh hot and good plus they put alot of shrimp which is a plus and oh we didn’t have to wait long at all. I will be going back! 👍☺️
I've been going to various, Timmy Chan locations over 15 years, the food hasn't changed too much/varies from each location. I only come here for wings and shrimp fried rice which are excellent maybe a bit too greasy but by far a top place for fried wings. As for the Chinese food I dont know probably not better than Panda. Customer service is good and pretty quick, they are kind of busy most of the time.
Not sure why this place is never busy when we order from here. We love it! Every time the food is very hot and fresh. Consistent every time! The only thing is that lately like within the last 3 orders we've noticed that they give my fiance significantly less general tso's chicken than they do me with my sesame chicken. But other than that it's fantastic
Good spot. Card is a 10$ min. Kool aid is delicious.
Wing dinner was pretty good and food was still hot when I got home
Very good food, used to be cheap, service feels like they doing you a favor but don't blame them, average is okay!
Food is always a hit. Place looks shady. I’m not there for the looks anyways
Quick take out and affordable. acall ahead, only ten minutes.
The is a must-try for travelers and tourists a staple to the Houston community. And personally some of the best fried chicken you can find.
I got chicken wings and fried rice & the chicken tasted like they didn’t wasn’t it prior to it. The rice was good, but I probably won’t be getting chicken wings again from here
I rate restaurants on 4 core values which is Customer Service, Taste of food, Price & Cleanliness. Service -⭐⭐⭐ Is okay. It's not bad but they also don't go out of the way to do anything extra. There is no host, waitress's or servers so you have to order your food at counter when you come in and you can sit where you like. Drink station is to the right of where you order so don't forget to get your drinks. Taste -⭐⭐⭐⭐ I like it very much. I haven't been here since I was a child and it has definitely changed. The wings use to be super huge pumped with MSG but not anymore. The wing size is normal and taste is delicious. It's seasoned very well and crispy on the outside while while juicy on the inside. Value -⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ For 2 adult meals (6 PC chicken wings with shrimp fried rice) I paid $21.90 +tax not including drinks. The amount of food they give you is a lot so it's worth the price. Cleanliness- ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Despite the outside look the inside is clean. Restrooms don't compare to Buc-ee's but it's usable. Overall - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recommend this place. Food is tasteful and delicious but don't expect much for customer service and you'll come out happy. My suggestion is to take it Togo.
Got my 6pc wing dinner with chicken fried rice. And my brother got a orange chicken with fried rice. Ove been coming for years to this place cus it's cheap, great taste and alot of rice in your plate. But this time my fried rice felt extra oily and tasted extra oily. The orange chicken was not the best. Great juicy wings 😋 tho and the kool-aid always hits home. The ceilings need to be replaced "moldy" but will continue to give it another try on the rice maybe it was a bad batch
I got the hot spicy shrimp with rice. I got large drink. If you want refills will cost you a dollar. If you want refill coolaide it will cost you 1.50. lol
Solid spot to get cheap Chinese takeout I tried their chicken fried rice (large size), which came out to $13.48. The provide massive serving sizes - filling the entire takeout container. The interior has seen better days as most of the indoor seating is either cordoned off or furniture has been removed but there are still some spaces to dine-in.
Food is always good since I’ve been ordering from here.. (maybe 2 months or so)I love the shrimp fried rice and their wings. Tonight I tried the beef n broccoli for the first time and it was good. Their egg rolls are always a hit too but tonight they were burnt. They were cooked too long (sigh). I was upset about that bc I was looking forward to them lol but over all they have good food and service is pretty str8 forward.
First time here with family.. one review said it a more order an go and that’s the truth. But do t get me wrong you can eat here till 7. We went around five and there was about six people ahead of us, but it went really fast.our order was made fresh and hot. I suggest you get the Kung pow chicken and the cream puffs. They’re so good well definitely come back for the wings. There was about 10 people who went in after and their orders were mostly wings. I had to come back and edit this .. can’t forget about the koolaid.. that will take you back to your younger days.
It’s been years since I been to The Original Timmy Chan. The wing’s and fries use to be 3 bucks when I use to buy chicken from Timmy Chan. Some things never change. The chicken is still good and the drive thru line was still long (It’s faster to order inside). The inside still looks the same except for updated TV monitors. Eating the chicken wings brings back good memories.
For the first time, EVER - Timmy Chan's served me "old" chicken! Old chicken is very easy to detect. Being that it is a staple in the Black American culture, and just about every Southerner's as well, we know when fried chicken isn't fresh. I was deplored. Even disappointed. Sadly, I will not be returning. This was around 3p when I phoned in the order. Don't know what happened, but the fact that my desires and interests now have waned to nothing for this Houston institution, is a very sad realization. 😔 Never again. I've been irreparably scarred. I've been a patron for over 45 years! And just like (POOF) that, I'm out.
Good food. They also serve a lot in comparison to the price, which is great! With that being said, this place could definitely use some updating!!
Does not deliver to nearby locations; ordered chicken wings (ok), veggie fried rice (ok), garlic green beans (very good)
I’ve been ordering here for about 2 years. I used to go to MLK. For the past 2 times I went the portions are getting smaller and if that’s the case the prices need to match the portion size. This is ridiculous used to can get 3/4 servings in one $12 dish but now only 2 if even that. Also this is not Mongolian beef. Where are the peppers ? Straight onions i spread it out in a pan for a better view. This is ridiculous
I’ve been hearing about this place for years, I really don’t see the hype .The food was bland. I could really pass on this.we order wings , general tso , spicy chicken, cat fish and shrimp, some of the food taste fresh and other taste old and the egg rolls was so cold and nasty . Don’t know if I’ll recommend .
I remember when you couldn’t close your food! Now they barely give you any rice and I paid for two eggs rolls and only got 1. For them charging me 15.89 for this lunch portion is ridiculous! I didn’t ask for a lunch portion… they better be glad I had to go back to work or I would turned around. Playing with ppl money.. GIVE ME WHAT I PAID FOR…
Portions have gotten much smaller over time
The food hear is good but they have changed their prices drastically within the last 6 months. A six piece wing dinner was 7.95. now you're paying twelve dollars for a four piece wing dinner. Almost double for almost half the food. And, its like that with everything on their menu.
I ordered pork fried rice and fried chicken. It was ok. The rice could've had more flavor and the fried chicken was spot on. I also ordered 6 cups of Sriracha hot sauce. Paying roughly an extra $3. Come to find out that this is not Sriracha hot sauce. This sauce is sweet and tangy and no heat at all. Please don't advertise it as Sriracha hot sauce if it's not Sriracha hot sauce. I could've easily bought a 5 dollar bottle from the store rather than throw this 6 cups in the trash.
I went here for the first time yesterday evening and the Chinese food was probably the worst I ever tasted. The egg rolls were overcooked, the sweet and sour chicken was very dry, they hardly gave me any Mongolian beef but mostly dry fried rice and then it took them forever to prepare my order. I just moved to Houston from Charlotte which I took my chances coming to this restaurant. I spent $29.00 which next time I will just go to P.F. Chang’s. They are much better quality. Timmy Chans doesn’t have to worry about me returning because their food is quite lousy!
Let's start with the food. Can't even say it was mid. It was edible. Nothing more. We'll put it that way. Service was awful. They guy at the register was a brick. Talking to people crazy and annoyed when he would get interrupted from being on his phone. Atmosphere is also terrible. I wouldn't dine in here. Such a disappointment as I hear Houstonians say this place is good.
Horrible parking and the food wasn’t good as I expected it to be. Horrible egg roles, Jack in the Box is a whole lot better.
This place is mid at best. Egg drop soup had a weird smell. Pepper steak sauce had a slightly sweet taste. Fried rice was bland. I can't speak on the wings since I did not order them.
Decided to try out this location. It's a beautiful building. The dining area is spacious and clean. The atmosphere though is kinda cold and unfeeling. I ordered chicken strip basket, shrimp fried rice and a small order of green beans. The strips were small but juicy. Rice is okay but oily and smushy. Green beans are a little overcooked.(edit: found a little rock in it) They have a minimum requirement of having to order at least $10 of food to place an order. I think I'll stick to my usual location instead. It took quite some time to get my food. It was almost $40 and the food wasn't as great as it looked.
The rice was not good at all ,,,little vegetables in it and cold,,few shrimp,,just not good at all ,,, please stay away from TIMMY CHAN,@610 AND BUFFALO SPEEDWAY IN HOUSTON TX
Their food has no seasoning, very small portions of rice only quarter of plate , i recommend TIMMY CHANS ON MLK . They give you a whole plate of rick with your order !!!
Timmy is just serving anything. I had the orange chicken and fried rice. The chicken was old and had been refrigerated after being cooked.🤮🤮
Ok, real talk. Look. The crispy spring rolls had a bitter aftertaste. The combination fried rice had three, only three shrimp, the most rubbery and flavorless shrimp ever...and AGAIN, aftertaste all over the rice. It was thick and rancid... like the oil was bad. The taste was like old bread that's sat on the pantry too long and now it's dry and has that funky aftertaste. Who can say? This may be a one-off, but I won't risk it again. It was bad, just bad food.
If I could give this place no stars I would ! First when I call the woman has an attitude in the middle of me order she starts taking someone else for order that should’ve been a sign to not come but I still did I come in to get my food I tap my card the money was took off my card they argue me up and down and said it wasn’t took off I call my bank and my bank said it was and my bank even told them they took it and they wasn’t listening , the manager was the most nastiest rude disrespectful woman ! Her name is Lilian ! And the other woman who was taking the orders who was hoping off the manager energy and was being rude also is name ping , I had put a claim in and also speaking to my lawyer as we speak because I was already having a hard day and they decided to be rude and not listen and try to prove me wrong when I was right ! They talking about if it was approved the receipt would come out im like what regardless it was took out of my bank my bank even said it was and they weren’t listening money hungry is what I call it , the whole establishment was horrible ! They were in the back talking about me like I didn’t have my google translate I heard everything they said and recorded them for my records ! So I do not recommend this place I was trying to try a new location of Timmy Chans other then mlk but I will be sticking to them from now !
I just got off the phone trying to place an order with the rudest Chinese lady answering the phones at the register. I asked for modifications on my kung pao chicken and she said they don’t do that. Then she put me on hold and when she picked up again told me to continue with my order. I asked if they can do any modifications on any of the food on the menu and she said only the chicken so I said okay so you can’t do the kung pao chicken and she said no?? So clearly she’s not making sense and I’m confused looking at the menu trying to pick something. I took two seconds to decide what I want and before THIS RUDE LADY says to me “ IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, I’M GONNA HANG UP ON YOU” . What kind of customer service is that?? She couldn’t at least say “call back when you’re ready” or something other than IM GONNA HANG UP ON YOU. I hung up so quick before I match her energy. This used to be my spot, I moved to the northwest years ago and I don’t get to come here often so it’s a shame that she had the nerve to treat a paying customer that way. NEED TO HIRE SOMEONE BETTER, MAYBE YOUNGER WITH MANNERS. Do not recommend
I tried Timmy Chan Original for the first time yesterday and I must say…this was some of the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my 28 years of life. I bought the chicken fried rice, beef egg foo young, and sweet and sour chicken which came out to about $35 and some change. Chicken Fried Rice: (Large $12.90 plus tax): The smell of the chicken fried rice was a red flag. It smelled like green onions that had been in the refrigerator too long. When I opened the container, all I saw was gray chicken, big chunks of semi cooked onion, and eggs. Against my better judgement, I tasted it…and it came right back out. I couldn’t even swallow it. Beef Egg Foo Young ($10.50 plus tax): It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good either. It taste like a big omelet with beef and onions. The “gravy” that came with it was VERY loose. Sweet and Sour Chicken (I believe it was $9.95 plus tax): The sweet and sour chicken wasn’t the best, but it was the only thing that I could stomach. Overall, we ended up throwing everything away. We didn’t even touch the chicken fried rice and that was the most expensive item. If it doesn’t taste good fresh then I know it’s going to be even worse reheated
The food sucks. Second time I come here and the fried fish and chicken wings have an off odor. They don't clean the fryers. The fish and the chicken smell "sour". If you want to get sick. Gladly come to this 🗑️ place. If I'm clogging my arteries I expect goodness. This place is straight up poison.
Worst Timmy Chans, you can go to food always barely hot, they are so unorganized it’s not even funny, and they will leave u on hold for 30+ mins for the smallest order so go at your own risk🫡
Nothing special.Plain bland fried rice on all orders every bit of an add up ingredient to the rice is extra,a little too much extra. If you going to pay this much might as well go to a buffet. The restaurant is actually beautiful and clean.
I called @ around 7:38p to place an order for shrimp fried rice and 6pc wing. I also had a question about how much the orange chicken is, dude straight up told me “if you want to know the prices you have to come inside the store” and then hung up the phone in my face. I’m new to the south side and actually love Timmy Chan on the north side. I wouldn’t have minded spending my money here every time I want some shrimp fried rice, but I’ll definitely be taking my business elsewhere where the employees aren’t rude.
The rice was nasty and the wings were also didn’t even eat it all. The koolaid was good.
I place a phone order was placed on hold and can hear everything while they took orders in store hung up called back to a Chinese lady rushing me I asked her for 6 wings and rice she told he hold on and think about what I wanted she came back to the phone after 15 min and said what u want I got 100 wing a 1000 wing what u want as I order my 6 peice and rice I wasnt dun with my order when she tried to rush me off the phone horrible customer service and a language barrier is also a bad part about the issue
First time going to this location. They rush you placing your order don't give you time to look at the menu. Get home which is 1hr39min drive away and they didn't put my gravy on my rice and didn't get my biscuit either. First and last time going
The Catfish was fake..Rubbery..One piece was not done. It was nasty. There were a lot of people there. Most ordering shrimp fried rice. I should have ordered the shrimp fried rice...Not everyone can make soul food or French Fries like Soul Food Restaurants or resterants that know how to buy the right fish or food.
I won't be returning to this location because they gave a very small portion of shrimp in my shrimp fried rice. I literally had only 4 small shrimps in my shrimp fried rice, very small portion of egg, and mostly rice. This was basically a 4 piece wing dinner with rice instead of shrimp fried rice. I'm glad I didn't pay for the 6 piece wing dinner!
Very disappointed came in and placed two separate orders & tipped very graciously on both only to get home and they completely gave me the wrong thing although I was charged for exactly what I ordered! When I attempted to call to let them know of coarse they were no longer answering the phones as it was five minutes to closing time! Extremely frustrating after driving twenty five minutes to this location sadly they’ve lost a well paying customer
