Ying Tang is a unique concept restaurant. It is a hot pot restaurant where you create your own bowl by selecting ingredients and putting them into the bowl to be weighted. The options include meatballs, fish balls, lamb, beef, seafood, tofu, noodles, and a variety of vegetables. After making your selection, you bring the bowl to the cashier, who will weigh it and charge you based on the weight. You pay when you leave. You can then choose your preferred broth—options include beef bone broth (with spiciness levels of 1 to 4) or tomato (which is not spicy at all). We tried both broths, and they were very hearty and rich in umami flavor. The tomato broth has a slight sweetness to it. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return for more when we are in the area.
The dry hotpot is good. 1 lbs is 14.99. They got four levels of spice. I had the Level 3. They have options of vegetable and meat to choose. The options are not much but it is still good restaurant to go if you crave for Mala Xiang Guo. They have two types; the soup and the dry one.
Friend suggested this place as her favorite and I decided to give a shot. It was clean and the waitress was nice. You need to pick your own foods and they help you to make it to soup 🍲. It’s $12.99 per pound, veggies and meats are the same price. I got pretty much almost a pound for total and they gave me a HUGE bowl that I never see it in my life, I mean it, it was huge. I feel like it’s similar to the hotpot but the different is that they help you to cook it ready. Overall I like it.
Good place for ma la tang. Food here reminds me of my college life, with better decors. Came with my son. I didn’t realize the base broth already have some chili oily in it. The waitress quickly offered a solution and brought some unseasoned bone broth. After transferring everything to the unseasoned broth, my toddler son thoroughly enjoyed his first ever ma la tang. Service is excellent. Price is good especially during the crazy inflation. I would go back again. Picture is extra spicy broth.
I love this place!! It's so fun choosing what to put in your soup and sharing it (or eating your own!) The food comes out fairly quick and is really good! Everything is also really clean and staff is so friendly, make sure to get a stamp card bc you'll be coming often:)
I have heard a lot of good words of Yin Tang from friends in Dallas, Houston and China. Finally got a chance to check it out and I was not disappointed. The broth is so delicious and all the food I picked are so fresh and tasty. The price is also reasonable and affordable given the quality and variety of the food supply. Highly recommend their sliced beef, stuffed fish ball and cuttlefish ball. It’s going to be our go-to hot pot spot during weekend!
A restaurant i'm excited to introduce on this platform. Especially they serve fully customizable spicy hot pot that you can order from their website.Spicy hot pot cooked in their secret spicy-numb and beef bone hot broth. Perfect for days when you want something soup!! You can order by pound choose your spice level. the medium always hits the spot perfectly! Recently dined at their indoor, tried their beef tendon ball & shark fin ball!which I highly recommend!!!
Incredible instant buffet style hot pot. They have all types of meat, noodles, and vegetables. This bowl was about $30 but had about 3 lbs of food in it. Definitely took half of it home to eat later.
I like the variety of hot pot ingredients. I always end up craving this and go once every 1-2 weeks. A little pricy ($13.99 per pound), but always satisfying!
I really like their tomato soup. They have many vegetable options so whenever I feel to eat a bit healthier this place is my first choice
Go to place for self served malatang/hotpot. Budget friendly, and lots of choices. Love the soup as well.

You pick your ingredients and then your soup base and you are charged by the weight of the food you picked, you will find a table for you and you pay at the end. It is pretty quiet inside and it is very clean looking. The staff are very helpful and there are no spicy soup base and different level of spiciness for the spicy soup base.
I don’t really care about what they say about service, food was good and price is decent. Service isn’t as bad as what they say, that’s just how it works for malatang.
Wish they had more protein selections but the place is small. I go here everytime I am in houston. Dont know what the issues are with people complaining they are rude I have never had a issue here. FYI this is self serve with a twist, anyone not familiar with Malatang Step one grab a bowl Step two grab your stuff vegetables proteins Step 3 they weight it and send it outback they cook it and make a soup. Most places ask for payment ahead this one does it after. This typically is spicey and had sichuan pepper corn if thats not your thing maybe try something else....
This is a self-serve style restaurant. You pick all your toppings, bring it to the cashier and they cook it in the back for you. The food is really good but the workers are not particularly friendly. Since it’s a food court type arrangement, I wasn’t expecting amazing service but I felt it still wasn’t the best, even with low expectations. Will still go back though!

This place is basically self served which makes it really easy to get your food quickly! The soup they use here works so well with all the ingredients at the bar. The atmosphere gives you a hole in the wall feeling. This place is a great place to go to on a cold day!

Love this place as you can either order a set menu (online) or build your own in store. Normally I only ever get around the 1lb mark anyways so it's easy to just your cost : ) My favorite is the mochi filled tofu, enoki mushrooms and thick/thin clear noodles Currently $14.99/lb For those with allergens, be warned as each customer uses one pair of (cleaned) tongs to grab their ingredients so there can be cross contamination :)

Stopped by here with a few friends, the broth was very good and they have a good amount of options to put in the soup. There was only one broth option and I was hoping for more (since most other malatang places have different broth options). Other than that the service was okay, we weren’t really checked up on, felt as though it was self service when it came to the service at the table. Overall, it was pretty good and we’ll be back. :)
Food was good but the service, I received was not. The girl was not welcoming and refused my request. I put an udon, and I changed my mind that I didn’t want to eat that, so I asked her if I could take out the udon because the food wasn’t prepared yet. She simply refused to do so. I don’t get why she couldn’t cancel the order then replace it with the edited version.
Really good supper big if I knew the portions where going to be so big I would of slit it with my husband, I couldn’t finish the bowl at all , really pricy too when we got done paying we saw the check and where like no way it was that much , but it was pretty big and really good so I guess pay for what you get right !

I think the service need to be improved. When you see the 1 star reviews, it’s about service. The employees keep saying “Go seat” go go. Even if I tried to ask something she said just go seat. And when she served food, she said give me the key. She didn’t even enjoy to work here. So rude and unprofessional. Food was good.

I ordered through a third party service platform and I paid for the order, and to come show up saying oh our Internet was down. And she brushed me off and her face looked like i was interrupting her when I clearly wanted her to put a priority on my order and make me the item I paid for. Extremely unprofessional and she was short and blunt and rude. Saying can’t you just refund it. Never said sorry or anything. Please teach your employees how to please the customer and satisfy them. So so disappointed because this was a good malatang place. I will bring my business to YGF. I was shocked by the response. You offer to make the order again, don’t say refund and leave the customer feeling angry. I’m still shocked LOL.
