First time coming here and the live music with delicious food are very pleasing, a bit expensive but really enjoyed their pizzas.
Food was off the charts amazing. We were the only patrons when we arrived. The front patio was under construction and the back patio was rough. We had to request water glasses for the bottled water 😂. And napkins. Again the food was beyond amazing so who cares!! Can’t wait to return!
Everything is home made and it shows! From the cheesy garlic bread, to the veggie lasagna, and the linguine and clams, all were delicious. The veggie lasagna was loaded with fresh vegetables.
The seafood pasta was the best I’ve ever had. At least 20 muscles, 6 clams, 3 huge shrimp, calamari In a delicious red sauce. The pasta carbonara was also delicious. Daniel was an excellent server.
Excellent Italian food. We tried everything from Chicken Picatta to Calzone. Very flavorful, friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere.
Called in an order for take out 15 minutes before closing, able to accommodate with really good food.
This place is small and delightful. Though the weight to be seated is a little more than anyone would probably like, the food was delicious, the salad was outstanding, and the pizza is so tasty that it was worth it. Will definitely return! Update: we have returned four times to this restaurant. My family insisted! But I love it too!
Great Italian food with all my favorite dishes! It was hard to choose what to order. They also have lots of dessert options (16 to be exact!). The homemade spinach manicotti is excellent, filled with lots of fresh spinach, which typically isn’t the case at other restaurants (usually there’s far more cheese, but here was the perfect balance). And they use tomato-cream sauce (my fav)! The chocolate cake was like none I’ve ever had (it was more like a pie without top crust and so scrumptious). Good wines too. Unlike the other Italian place here, Fratello’s is open for lunch, which is why we went here. So glad we did. I look forward to returning and trying the pizza and vegetable lasagna, also with tomato-cream sauce. 😊
The food is delish!! We ordered prosciutto pizza(yum!), 2-3 different kinds of pasta (also yum) and took it to go. Highly recommend!
It's the 1st time that they took for ever to take our order waited about 45 to 1 hour to get our food. Not satisfied with the service that day.
Pet friendly patio brought us in. We were impressed with the menu options and drink selections. We opted for a limoncello spritz, caprice salad, and a four cheese pizza. All were excellent and service was great.
Best gluten free crust I have ever had! I have been GF for 10+ years and tried numerous pizza crusts and this by far was the best plus they actually offer a vegetarian pizza that has actual vegetables! My husband had the Hawaiian pizza and said us was fantastic as well so GF or not, this place gets the pizza right!
Wow..such great tasting food and wonderful service. The place is beautiful. You will probably have to take part of it home. We went for lunch and the meals averaged around $18.00 But like I said you wont feel cheated at all.
I had the most wonderful lunch here!!! The food is world class, and they bake the bread on the premises. Talk about delicious with their house made tapenade!! What a wonderful surprise!! I’ll be back 100% for sure. I want to try their entire menu. I had a pasta primavera and choc cake and dined on a lovely outdoor patio.
Split pea soup was on point with an Italian twist. Tapenade was mild and subtle, but a lot of flavors that lingered - it was lovely, I ordered a second round to take home. The bread tasted freshly baked. Panettone creamy pasta was tender and delightful. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. My only disagreement was the ambiance inside and seating. Unfortunately, i was sat next to the door and a window where there was a winter storm breeze filtering through making. My food got cold really fast and i wanted to savor each bite - it was that good. Out door patio seating looked much more intimate but was too cold for dining outside. Every staff member i encountered was exceptionally kind and attentive. Great service 👏 I highly recommend it. Thank you for a nice evening 😊
My family of 9 came in 20 minutes before they closed and they accommodated us. I’m not a fan of Italian food but love pizza. This was not only some of the best pizza I’ve had the main entrees were incredible. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.
Only one other table occupied on a mid-week evening in mid-Nov, right next to us, felt like it was a little hard to have a private conversation, not like our previous visits when it was crowded and a little noisy. Wife didn't like facing straight into kitchen. Our small pizza was very good, had leftovers, cheese bread also very good, but a large order, so we got 2 meals out of this. Next trip will try pasta, which I recall from several years ago was also very good.
My crew and I tried multiple restaurants well on assignment here and this place was one of our favorites. Services great everybody takes good care of you here. We tried multiple different pizzas but I have to say I've actually tried one of the best pizzas in my entire life here which was the FORMAGGI MISTI. I have to be honest with you I'm not usually a cheese pizza kind of guy this pizza was amazing. We tried a couple different pasta dishes as well as some of the desserts. All the food was delicious The only thing we never got to try was the tiramisu they were out of every time we went. It is definitely worth stopping by and giving this place a try. Also on the weekends they have a band that comes in very entertaining live entertainment. Be sure to bring some cash for tips for these guys cuz they do a great job of entertaining while you were there.
Me and my fiancé came in for dinner after exploring the town. Happened to have a lamb chop special and it was absolutely fantastic! Best red wine sauce I’ve had to date. And the meat was melting in our mouths. We will have to make a point to come here the next time we visit California. Great experience
Best pizza I've ever had in my life (see pic). And it was vegan! Son got calzone and he is super finicky, but he ate the entire thing and it was HUGE. Husband got Caesar salad with shrimp, and he says the shrimp is hands-down the best he's ever had. We sat outside and enjoyed the jazz duo, they are AWESOME! Highly, highly recommend. Give them a break on the service, it's hard during a pandemic and they are doing their best.
Such a great place to refuel after a day in the mountains! The patio seating is great and servers are friendly. They wasted no time getting our heat lamp to work so we could warm up during chilly weather. For lunch, we had the antipasto platter and the Fratello’s pie, both of which came with tons of flavorful ingredients and meats. We left satisfied and with leftovers, perfect for a day trip when you don’t want to cook later. The bread served before the meal was also excellent. I’ll certainly be back for future visits!
The food is amazing and the staff is awesome. I live in los Angeles but this is my favorite Italian restaurant. Worth the trip for a weekend getaway to go to idyllwild and eat here! Some of the pictures have food already taken out because it was so yummy my family dug into it before I could snag a picture. 3 of us shared a pizza, manicotti and the eggplant parm
Weekday wonderful. Came on a Tuesday with a party of 9 and a large dog. Dog friendly like most of Idylwild. Great food friendly service.
David was friendly, attentive & busy. We split the Caesar salad ( homemade dressing) LOVED my Cauliflower Crust Margarita pizza! Husband had Spaghetti & Meatballs and said he enjoyed his meal. We sat outside & thoroughly enjoyed everything we will be back for sure😃
While waiting to order, we were given bread & a tampanad, which were very good. We had a calzone, that came with a salad, which were both great. Even the salad dressing was special. I asked if they had Italian wines & they responded in the affirmative, however, I deferred, since we were riding motorcycles. However, I'm going back with my wife, so we can sit outside & enjoy everything alfresco. 👍😉
You cwn get a bottle of wine for around 35 buks and a pizza large for 28 so good worthbit
We enjoyed the food oh, it was delicious and plentiful. They adhere to every requirement relative to covid-19, we were glad to see people wearing face covers and distancing but having a very good time. Definitely would recommend this restaurant again it is surrounded by a majestic Forest and beautiful little shops. Oh and did I say they are pet friendly, yes they are!
This place was really, really good. The food was amazing. The service was great, outdoor seating. Live music on the weekend, all good. Also, awesome cocktails, excellent place to do some people watching. Right in the heart of downtown Wild great location right next to everything.
I ordered catering from Fratello’s for a group trip in Idyllwild for 30 people. The restaurant management was incredibly helpful in giving food suggestions, working around dietary restrictions and even delivered for us. As a nonprofit group with a tight budget, they were also able to work with what we could do. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting, especially large groups!
Group of six had chicken piccata, gnocchi, veggie lasagna, pasta primavera, and manicotti. Had the Fratellos Ensalata very good and very nice presentation. Tried some Tiramasu also very good, they have good reviews and are well deserved
We’ve been here about 3 times, food is always next level. They don’t take reservations, had a 45 minute wait. Dog friendly place, they sit you on the patio, the patio has heaters. I ordered the ribeye, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Also, had the tiramisu martini, which is absolutely delicious. Pictures provided for reference. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Also, a highlight when we visit. Go check them out!
The food here was great! My wife had the spinach ravioli and I had the rack of lamb. Both plates were delicious and I can’t get the lamb out of my mind. Damn it was good. If it’s busy, have patience I almost lost mine and would have missed out on the best plate of food I have had in a looong time maybe ever. The atmosphere was active with live music and the staff was awesome. Great experience
In the center circle of downtown central Idyllwild, everything about this place is excellent. Live music. Tasty food made to perfection. Great friendly staff. A great choice to dine when visiting Idyllwild. Dog friendly, service dogs allowed of course. Reasonable pricing and worth it regardless. Check hours of operation. Enjoy!
Faratello's is a slice of Italy in Idyllwild. Located in the heart of town , this restaurant serves the best Italian food I've ever tasted on this side of the country! No exaggeration! We ordered the vegan pizza on homemade dough and paired it with Faratello's Insalata -- what a fantastic combination! First off, the service was quick and attentive. We were seated right away, and a very polite waiter brought out our drinks and food within 20 minutes. The dishes were fresh and bursting with flavor. The pizza was absolutely mouthwatering ... The fluffy dough was perfect -- it held up well under the medley of grilled veggies and cheese. It didn't take much effort to eat; the moment you sank your teeth into it, you could immediately savor the rich vegetarian flavors and spices. The crust was thick and soft, almost sponge-like. It was simply fantastic -- I've never had such great pizza anywhere before! It came out piping hot and didn't have time to cool since we scarfed it down right away. Faratello's Insalata featured a tangy, flavorful combination of oranges, beets, cheese and arugula. It complemented the pizza beautifully. Faratello's offers a wide selection of drinks. We opted for tea, and they brought out a tasteful arrangement of amazing herbal blends Everything was beautifully presented. From the outdoor music to the cozy covered patio, the atmosphere was heavenly. After a breathtaking hike in Idyllwild, we enjoyed a glorious and uplifting dinner. We're already looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu. Please, try Faratello's -- you won't be disappointed. This restaurant will make you appreciate the simple joys of life: good food, great company, and the beauty of nature.
Having grown up in Europe, I've had ample exposure to quality Italian restaurants. I've been hard pressed to find a worthy equivalent here in SoCal, and I'm pleased to say Fratello's fits that bill. The food was phenomenal. We tried their carbonara, risotto, bruschetta, and the kid's pizza. Everything gets top marks. The quality, the flavours, and the presentation are exactly what they should be. Our server was very friendly and gave excellent suggestions. The seating was comfortable. The restrooms were clean. There is a kid's menu. The outdoor seating is dog-friendly. I highly recommend coming here if you want a proper authentic Italian dinner!
We were just exploring town for my birthday weekend and stopped to listen to the live music for a minute. The gentleman playing the piano suggested we have a seat which we did. We hadn't planned on eating but decided to anyways. Let me say this was the best and most relaxing dinner that we've ever had. The service was great(Kevin). The food was fantastic. None of this would have happened if it were not for the band Flavor Unlimited suggesting we have a seat and enjoy their music. They were truly a highlight to our evening even playing a Louis Armstrong song after asking me who I liked. I might also add that our small dog was welcome. Certainly cannot wait for another trip up the mountain! (Forgot to mention our small dog was welcome!)
Amazing Pizza experience!!! I ordered the cuatro Carnes, 4 meat Pizza , homemade meats, meatball and sausage and I asked for the pesto sauce instead of red sauce...to my surprise my Pizza was covered with a DELISHIOUS buttery pesto sauce that was sooo good, I used my crust and dipped it into that delicious pesto poured on top. I feel like the bar has been raised for any other future Pizza places I may visit. On the weekends, you can sit on the patio (weather permitting) and listen to live music from gentlemen who have been singing here for 10 years.
I really enjoyed this place. The service was great we didn’t have to wait to long to get a seat and the food was pretty good to. We kept dinner pretty simple tonight with pizza and cheese bread and enjoyed the live music. This was my first time in idlewild and this place diffidently helped make it a memorable one. If your ever in the area come by and enjoy some excellent wood fired. Parking was great and they were pet friendly. There was plenty of out door stealing and indoor as well. If I’m ever in the area I will definitely be back!
Had the whole experience Sunday. Had three guys up on stage playing good music. Third person wad D'Jarr. Bathroom here super clean. Con is there is only one restroom. Food came fast. Everything tasted great. Problem was the gnats that where there, but there was no way around that.
Great pizza, cold beer and salads. The jazzy music is 😎. Only bad thing is these guys Welch out and stick it to you hard. They didn't allow us to order the large pizza because it was" lador day" weekend. You can only order the small For a family of 4 that's four pizzas! They socket to the American consumer big time. Just don't go during a declared holiday socket to you!
Went during high peak season seems to be a bit understaffed but the food was delicious and the service was decent even though they were short staffed
The food is pretty good here and I eat a lot of Italian. Better than it deserves to be for a town I can walk from one end to the other in 5 minutes. The appeal for me is the live music though. I've been here twice, once in the winter and once in the summer on the weekend and they had live music both times. Some cool old timers doing jazz and blues mixed with some modern interpretations of new songs. I dig this place
Food is excellent, great vegan pizza, gluten free options, vegan options, and so on. The music can be too loud if sitting near it, especially the saxophone. My ears actually hurt.
Cute little restaurant with a cozy seating arrangement. My first time in Idyllwild and decided to eat here. Walls were painted a mellow, light silver and purple shade, which made for an understated ambiance. Had pasta and meatballs and some bread. Food was pretty good, but did not get salad or soup with dinner. Bread came in small baskets with oil and spices. Saw a diverse crowd in here from children in pajamas, to couples to families. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Service was pretty good. Parked on the street in front of the restaurant. Had a small band playing music on the patio, which did not overpower my eating experience inside. Overall a relaxed and intimate dining experience with comfort food. I recommend the patio if you want to really kick back and soak up that beautiful, crisp air. Friendly staff. My only suggestion would be the speed of service. Took a long time to get dishes for our bread, which we had to ask for, and our server was slow to get to the table. Since we were not in a hurry it was fine. My friend had pasta and it was pretty good too. Wish they had the mousse dessert or cheesecake, but both were out.
Long frustrating wait time almost ruined the experience. No hostess. Large group in front of us. Another group tried to cut ahead of us. Finally we were seated after much stress and anxiety. Food was good. Service was friendly but lacking, as they forgot things, for us as well as table next to us, basics like had to ask for water, also not just us. Forgot a side that we ordered. Forgot ranch for the table next to us. Took a long time for anything as servers would disappear for long periods of time. Other tables servers would actively avoid your attempt to get their attention since they didn't want to be bothered with tables that weren't theirs. Food is was very good although again had to wait and it showed. Got a Caesar salad and Margherita pizza. Pizza was on the lukewarm side by the time it made it to our table as well as slightly more soft than one of would expect for out of the oven, clearly had been sitting on the counter. Despite that, still tasty. Live music was pretty good, ambiance minus the service was good. Next time we'll skip all the wait and order take out unless mentally ready to spent two hours here between waiting and finally paying the check to leave.
First time visiting. That atmosphere was very inviting and they had live music playing which the kids loved. The food was good but nothing exciting. I had their variation of cheese bread & it was more dry than edible. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with pineapples & the kids enjoyed it. Overall a good experience especially for families with young children.
Looks like they updated it but came last Friday the 27th at 8pm and they said they stopped serving when their hours said 9pm, seemed like an afterthought and they just wanted to close early. 3 staff members were close by but didn't acknowledge us or the other couple waiting to be seated. One of the servers did come help, was nice and let us do a takeout order. Spent about $20 on a large cheese pizza and $20 on Melanzana parmiggiano. Cheese pizza was surprisingly very good, crust, sauce, and cheese had great flavor, didn’t expect that for idyllwild. Melanzana parmiggiano was not good, it was the same price as the pizza and half the amount of food, you can tell the quality of ingredients was good but eggplant was swimming in oil and bitter, and the pasta was overcooked. Came with bread and oil/basamic dressing that was also good.
Funny thing is, usually when I rank a restaurant lower than a four it’s because the food is not that good, and in this case the food was actually good, but the atmosphere and service were less than desirable. Most of the staff in this restaurant from the moment I showed up, until I left acted as if they were doing me a favor, and really didn’t want to be bothered waiting on me. From hostess to waiter, it just wasn’t that good. Not to mention the gentleman who kept going over the back of my head to adjust the light switch, it was just a poor experience with service. I probably left my table to ask for assistance a half a dozen times, just for basic items, and then continue to wait while they sat behind the counter talking about who knows what? Had the Caprese Salad and the Meatballs, and both were delicious. I highly recommend each if you decide to try this. The building itself was not much to write home about, and the layout inside left a lot to be desired. There just wasn’t a lot of care taken. The menu was uninspiring, but again it wasn’t the worst place I’ve ever been to either 🍀🍀🍀
This is the second time going to this place. I don’t know where the server go but if u charging 18% tip on my bill, I deserve a better serves. They bring water instead of my lemonade or sprite. They only check on you once. A family next to us, had to take their own pizza to ask about the ingredients n came back, becuz he couldn’t find anyone, they saw a server a few minutes later, about the ingredients. Plus, I had to ask for my bill 3 times, I almost went inside looking for someone.. there’s only a few tables inside for them not to check on you. While I was eating, this is what I observe the 2 times I was there.. I tip all the time, unless I don’t get the correct serve I deserve. This ppl don’t work hard, knowing they will charge a party of 6, the 18%..don’t get me wrong, the food is good but serves, is bad..
The restaurant has a great atmosphere, featuring live jazz music, which adds to the entertainment. We ordered the Pollo Parmigiano and a large Quattro Carne Pizza for lunch, and while the food was decent, it didn’t stand out. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow, and the servers were not very attentive.
edit: they deleted my friends review that shared this experience. avoid. this. restaurant. the long made short: they kept us waiting 30 minutes for our drinks, 45 minutes for food, and while serving it, fumbled a used napkin into one person's plate and kitchen served an incomplete spaghetti with meatballs. the live music was amazing, and we got there before their set began. it took till the end of their set for us to get our food. don't eat here.
DO NOT ORDER THE VEAL DISHES. We ordered Calamari Butternut soup Rigatoni veal with mushrooms They had a crazy sweet sauce that almost tasted like maple syrup with the veal. Veal was thinly cut or sounded, breaded and served with a brown gravy that was sooo sweet. Also found a hair in it. Not one to complain or send food back but the waiter didn't even ask why we didn't touch it or if everything was okay.
I found the prices very high. The food I ordered was bitter. The service was great.
The pizza is ok, and I’m saying that as an Italian. It’s not bad at all. But I paid $72 for two small pizzas and a canned beer. With all due respect, there’s another pizzeria right behind them that serves great pizza at way better prices. Honestly, never again here.
On our first visit my family and I wanted to eat pizza. We figured we could try their restaurant. One of the owners started arguing with my daughter about the seating. He was so unprofessional and arrogant. No customers service and class whatsoever. It was our first and last time. We’re definitely going to take this restaurant out of the equation on our next visit to Idywilld. After that awful experience, we decided to try FERRO and Italian restaurant. Very nice restaurant with amazing food and amazing customer service.
I have never been treated with such disregard and disrespect. If you happen to be Latino in appearance and visiting from another region don’t come here. I will not say they discriminated against me and my son due to complexion alone but more our culture which happens from eye sight alone be from Los Angeles most likely our dodger hats paired with complexion contributed to the terrible treatment/discrimination. I waited 20 minutes to be simply asked if I had been attended all while observing the empty tables and had to wait an additional 15 minutes for my son to receive a coke we ordered and only received when I inquired about said coke. I had to watch while everyone arriving was attended correctly and promptly. We were treaty poorly to say the least I witnessed all tables complemented with bread at minimal while being the only table with not so much as a hello. This is my first yelp review ever 💯 that’s how insulted I was,. I have never been treated this way anywhere and me and family are major foodies to say the least. I will say the city seemed very discriminatory in general so don’t be brown and god forbid dress a way that can be misinterpreted. Discrimination is discrimination anywhere you go whether it’s because they think you might not leave a tip or where you come from. DONT go here, if you want to get treated poorly and pay a good amount for it just get married 🤣
I stopped by for a quick lunch after hiking in the mountains, but the experience was disappointing. The food was mediocre at best and clearly overpriced for what you get. Service was also lacking--especially from the tall, oily-haired Italian server, who came off as snobbish and rude, seemingly judging me for looking a bit worn out from the trail—and perhaps also because I’m Asian. He pushed the daily specials, and when I declined due to the steep prices, he gave me attitude and handed me off to one of his coworkers. Definitely not a place I'd return to.
Their posted hours are a lie. The sign in the window says they open at 11:00. Their website says they open at 11:00. Even a Google search shows their hours as opening at 11:00. We selected this restaurant partially due to their hours as we have an event to be at. We arrived a few minutes before 11:00 so we hung out in front of the restaurant. After several minutes had passed and they still weren't open we decided to call only to find out that they opened at 11:30! Once finally at a table we reviewed the menu and ordered drinks only to be told that they do not have one of the drinks that is listed on the menu. Once the drinks were resolved we ordered our food. I ordered the meat lasagna and my wife ordered the vegetable lasagna. Mine was bland and burnt on the bottom while hers had under cooked pasta. The prices are that of a nice restaurant, but the quality is mediocre at best. The decor looks more like a fast food establishment. At least the view was good.
Was waiting outside for 20mins near a sign where it clearly says WAIT TO BE SEATED, a couple then walks past us and goes inside and they get helped right away, we walk inside and the waitress, as well as other staff just stared at us like what are you doing here, never was greeted or even acknowledged, so many empty tables, perhaps short staffed, but definitely really bad first impression, ended up walking out and going down the street to Gastrognomes where I've been many times before and was greeted right away with a smile and was told they'd be with me in a minute. I decided to try something different but definitely regretted it right away .
