I walked for the first time wearing my Whataburger hat. The ladies there (all 5) were so helpful suggesting fan favorites to try. I NEVER dreamed I’d say this BUT! I’d choose Chester’s over Whataburger every day of the week…just that good.

First time trying Chester’s and will definitely be back! Everything was clean and the restaurant comfortably situated for plenty of seating and space.The staff was very friendly, quick and attentive. Ordered burgers and fries. The sweet tea was fresh and on point, always so thankful for that as it’s easy to go bad. I didn’t order anything alcoholic this time but there are lots of beer choices to pair with your food! The food did not take long at all considering my wife and I came in at a rush. It was hot and fresh, cooked perfectly and came out with a great presentation, well done kitchen! These are huge burgers and the tasty poppy seed buns hold it all perfectly with the toppings placed just right to get the perfect bite all the way through, no toppings sliding off! You can’t beat big portions and high quality. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

I visited Chester's located IH-10 at Wurzbach Road. I arrived around lunch hour or shortly before lunch hour. I was able to place my order for just a hamburger with no fries and water to drink and easily seated myself. The kitchen called my name within 10 minutes of my order. The burger was good, had all the fixings that I wanted on it, and everything was nicely placed between a poppy seed bun. Service was professional, courteous, and friendly. I hope your experience is as good as mine.

The best burger joint in San Antonio... hands down.... and I consider myself a burger fanatic. On top of that... their grilled chicken sammich is the best I've ever had as well. Food is always hot and fresh! Plenty of beers to satisfy the IPA beer snob of your group as well. Skip the fries and get the onion rings instead.

I don't come here often enough. I only say that because I forget how extremely good it is until I have in my hands. Chester's serves up fat, juicy burgers the old fashioned way. No frozen patties up in here! They deliver the goods like God intended it to be eaten! Fresh ingredients, bold flavor and they have a nice little beer selection for when you want to relax and have a brew with your burger. Clean little bathroom and plenty of parking!

Good home tasing cheese burger. They packed it with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, make it to your liking. Topped it off with a big poppy seed bun. I've been eating there for over 30 years and it's consistently good. The poppy seed buns on the burgers are something that sets them apart. Also the fresh cut fries and house made onion rings are fantastic. In addition, if you like beer the selection is huge. Always recommended.

This was my first time traveling to San Antonio for work and I’m so glad I was able to grab a burger here on my last night. I ordered a double bacon burger, a side of fries, and a beer. The burger was generously large and I loved the black sesame seeds on the bun! The bun was crispy as well as the bacon. I wasn’t able to finish the burger but it was definitely good all the way through. The fries were made fresh but I did add some salt to it for an extra sodium kick. The decor was fun with all the different signs. The restaurant doesn’t require a server, you essentially go up to the register to order your food, pick a table, and then your name gets called to grab your food. The individual who took my order was friendly though!

First time visit. Big burgers, fresh made and tasty! French fries are also fresh and not frozen. They have milkshakes and ice cream sundaes too! Option to eat inside or out on a covered porch. They also have chicken sandwich or wings, or fish or BLT as an example of simple menu with enough options to please everyone. I will definitely come back next time I am in town.

First time eating here since moving from San Antonio 25 years ago, and it's still great. Got the regular burger all the way with onion rings and stuffed jalapenos. Mom got the green chile cheeseburger. Best hamburger I've had in years. I wish we had a Chester's in Austin.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chester's Hamburgers again. The burger itself is a delicious masterpiece. The patty was perfectly cooked to juicy perfection, and the bacon added an extra layer of smoky goodness that complemented the cheddar cheese flawlessly. The poppy seed bun is always a unique touch but you can also get it on Texas toast. The crispy, hand-cut french fries that accompanied it were simply outstanding. Each fry had a satisfying crunch on the outside while remaining fluffy on the inside. They were seasoned to perfection, providing a burst of flavor with every bite. It's clear that Chester's understands the art of making the perfect fry. Furthermore, the service at Chester's was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. Can't wait to come back for more!

Flavor: B+ Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A San Antonio for 40+ years and claims to have the “best burger both sides of the Pecos.” I’m not endorsing that motto (though I do think it’s clever) but the burger is good. It’s a classic burger with a fresh-made patty, legit veggies, melty cheese, and their trademark toasted poppyseed bun. If the poppyseed impacts the flavor it’s in the most subtle way and I think the presentation is 💯. There’s not much else beyond burgers on the menu, there’s no fancy toppings or creative sauces - but there is weirdly a nod-to-our-neighbor-state-that-we-often-forget-exists with a green chile cheeseburger. Chester’s also has a no-delivery policy so you’re either enjoying this burger in their restaurant or not at all. As a fan of dining in, a lover of piping hot food, and a devout believer in burgers and fries losing appeal with each second after they’re ready, you know I love this. Stay strong, Chester. The flavor on this one gets a B+ because it’s pretty strong - perfectly cooked, decently-seasoned, and juicy enough to leave your mouth watering for the next bite. But as you might expect, I’d amp up the seasoning if I was in charge. The fresh-cut fries are usually a little limp to be my favorite but they are still good. When a restaurant has been around for 40 years I tend to think it’s either in its sunset of life or it’s going to be around 100. I think Chester’s is the latter. Cheers to Chester’s Hamburgers for a good timeless burger that you’re nearly forced to enjoy hot off the grill!

Been coming here since I was a kid, food and service has consistently been excellent Everytime! Took a star off because for the 1st time ever I needed a to go box for 2 hot dogs. Only to go boxes they had were the smallest size ones (not that they ran out of big ones, that is the only size they offer) maybe fries or half eaten burger would fit in that small box. Had to leave the 2 hot dogs there ,which is a shame but still amazing place just a small suggestion for some bigger to go food sizes.

I haven't been to Chester's for quite some time. I decided to check it out again. The burgers are tasty! The onion rings are delicious. The fresh cut fries are good, but sometimes they cook them dark brown. So, I tell them to cook the fries golden brown (like McDonald's). But, they don't always follow my advice. I noticed a popular item is the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. If you have a big group, you might consider sitting in the added dining room.

Atmosphere is relaxing, chill with a view if you choose to sit out on patio. I could go for more menu items, like pastrami lol, but satisfied with our visit nevertheless. Space is kept clean which we appreciate. My fish & chips looked more like fish nuggets, which I thought was chicken at first. My daughter's chicken sandwhich was delightfully filling. I thought Chester's was good locals burger joint. It has an eclectic style to it the burgers are your traditional flat top burgers. As a make of fact the entire menu is pretty much traditional. There is nothing wrong with that. Being in such a hot location, as a tourist you expect untraditional, different, unique experience, not the same old same old. The taste was decent.

And they don't have avocado which was a let down but I tried anyways thinking maybe the quality would make up for it . The onion rings are nicely cooked but this chain restaurant might want to think of better batter to fry them in it lacked flavor. But not horrible just kindof blah . Oh and the ranch you need for dipping is .50 for a small container which I feel is ridiculous but not that big if a deal . I would consider their beer selection to be above-average some good German beers to be had . Their food selection is above average for most. However I consider it to be mediocre and a little heavy on the industrial salt I guess to get you to drink more beers. As others have stated there buns are a little disproportionate to the Burger. I've been here more off then on for 20 years or so and with that said as most other places find them to be very inconsistent.

The food overall was okay, it was fairly overpriced though. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a drink it nearly costed me $20. Also, the manger at the time (Feb 3 evening) was aggressive and berating the employees. He also forgot to realize he was on a hot mic and it was playing through the speakers. The employees looked miserable.

I have been a customer at Chester’s since I was in college. I enjoy coming here for a delicious burger and their onion rings. Tonight we were deciding on where to eat and we chose Chester’s because of their televisions as it was the first game of the NFL season. One television was playing football and the other was on Fox News - every thing was closed captioned because oldies were playing. I asked if the TV that half my table was viewing could be changed to football and was told “no”. Owner’s rules were that one television had to be on Fox. I am not interested in watching Fox or CNN when I am paying to eat out. We chose this restaurant because we all wanted to watch football. I didn’t get to watch the game. I was facing the wrong direction. There were at least two customers that requested the channel be changed and we were both told no. So now the owners know that their directive is being followed and we will find another restaurant where we can watch the game from all the seats this season. It doesn’t matter how good your burgers are if you can’t accommodate a customer request.

Disappointed. Had bought a burger and they had messed up my order. It was just a burger. Was told to come and get a replacement (I. O.U) as they call it. I eventually came back and was refused the iou (I'll let it known nobody was rude or anything. Employees were great) my complaint is toward the company itself. We ate at the Chester hamburger location on 410 Sunday in san antonio texas. The food was great. The inside area was clean. I however did a google search and AI stated that Chester gives a military discount. However when I asked on sunday when we ate probably about 1:30 pm that Chester's does not give a military discount. Visited for the first time on 1/30/26. To make an extremely long story short, I did get money stolen out of my purse by a staff member, presumably the store manager Shawn, at this location. I called corporate numerous times and left voicemails with zero call back. I also emailed corporate, to which Dale from their team pretty much replied that the manager has been with the company for 20 years and it’s out of his character to do such a thing. He also essentially told me I should be grateful that only *some* of my things were stolen, but not *all* of them. I followed up again requesting security camera footage after never getting a reply back for 5 days straight, and I in turn got a short and rude email reply back. This is so hurtful considering the food was so good and it was my first visit. Extremely unprofessional and rude staff all around. Don’t do what I did and wait hoping that they’d make things right. I will be contacting a police report immediately.

5/11/24 I have eaten here for well over 20 years, but the last couple times I have come, the burgers are just off. Regular cheeseburger has become flavorless. I don't know if they just forgot to season mine again today or what happened. But it's just off and as a few people have mentioned, it tasted very gamey and almost had an amonia flavor. Really bums me out to have no desire to ever come back to one of my favorite places all through my life. But hey, Chris Madrid's and Burger Boy are actually putting salt on their burgers. 🤷.

Called in an order and was told it would be 15 minutes. Walked up to pay, saw a lot of people in the kitchen but not a single one doing much of anything. Was only supposed to be picking up an order and had to wait another 15 minutes with no apology and just ugly looks.

Update 04-21-24: Reducing rating due to consistently poor quality food. The most recent burger was underdone by a lot, even by Chester’s standards - not pink, red! The meat also had a gamey flavor to it that was similar to odorous raw meat. The fries were still cold in the center, as well, making this at least 8 times in the last couple of years that has happened. This is not a one time problem, it is a sharp decline in the quality of the food, yet the prices have not declined similarly. I will not ever eat here again. Left me hungry and grossed out. Edit in response to owner: I have lived less than a mile away for 20 years and have been a longtime very regular patron for that entire time (and then some) so I’m not misremembering or waxing nostalgic. That’s quite a dismissive attitude to take with a customer who has spent A LOT of money at your establishment and knows well what the quality used to be versus the current much lower quality food you serve. Original review: Still good but going downhill a bit. Food isn’t quite as good as it used to be. And portion sizes on fries and sides of chili are shrinking. Also some of the the staff aren’t on their A-game and not so friendly at times. Used to be able to count on every employee getting it right every time. Now it’s a little more hit & miss.

7/17/2023 @12:30pm. Had a big order with 6 people. They wouldn't take a $100 bill even when there was minimal change and the place was packed for lunch. The 3 little girls working up front taking orders, were rude and seemed like they didn't want to be there. Regular fries were soggy. Cheeseburgers were okay but the cheese they use was no good. Onion rings were overcooked but not terrible. Beer was cool not cold. Tea was good. Had a meeting there. Will not be going back.

There was thick black hair in my food and a lot my bf was like why the don't the employees in the back have hairnets or wash their hands

all around HORRIBLE experience. to start, the kids with the mustache who was the cashier was extremely rude. kept rolling his eyes and sounding frustrated every time we said something. my mom asked if they had cheese fries and he rolled his eyes and said "it comes with ONE slice of american cheese," with all the attitude in the world. he looked and sounded like he was miserable, but the moment no one was at the register, he was talking and laughing with another worker. if i wanted to interact with a cashier like that, i would've gone to the Mcdonalds a few buildings down. and even then the customer service probably would've been better. i didn't even want to ask for a refill on my soda just to avoid interacting with him again. the food wasn't good at all either. patties that tasted like nothing and were super dry. i will gladly stick to Babe's over this. the cucumbers in my moms salad were already going bad, and the chicken in her salad smelled really weird too. as if it were going bad already. she sent it back to the kitchen, not even wanting her money back because we all just wanted to leave. one of the employees, im assuming the manager, still tried to give her her money back for the salad. she continued to refuse and then he tried giving it to my sister, who also refused. my mom, eventually, took the money and kindly gave it to another employee. she was so sweet and so excited, but the manager right away ripped it from her hands and said they're not allowed to take tips, and gave the money back to my mom. who just takes something out of someones hands like that? regardless if they could have tips or not. this was our first time trying "one of the best burger spots in Texas," just to be disappointed from the very moment we walked in, to the very moment we walked out. will never be coming here again, even if it were the last place on earth. if i could give it 0 stars, i would. Babe's would NEVER have made us feel this way.

Bad customer service ruins everything. Our visit today (01/17/2026) around 3 PM ish was disappointing because of how the staff member (cashier) interacted with us. No warmth, no basic courtesy, and it completely killed our expectations of the place. Won’t be coming back. Management should really pay attention to their employees, because service like this is how businesses lose customers.
