Absolutely amazing food and service. I’m from China myself and this is hands down the best place in town. It’s like i’m back in my hometown again. 10/10 recommend

Wonderful food experience. All the dishes came put promptly, service a d ordering was prompt. The flavors though, so much flavor!! If you're a Sichuan fan, thus is the place to go in Orlando. Strongly recommend the Chendu chicken, maps tofu, wonton, dumplings, spareribs. Actually, I'm sure all their dishes are good! Huge selection of foods! Service was great, kitchen and facility was clean. I wish I had one of these where I love, I'd eat here everyday.

Absolutely amazing authentic Chinese. My favorite is the beef jerky (is what they call it for Americans) and my daughter loves the fried rice. Every time I go, the staff are super nice.

Great place for spicy Chinese food in Orlando. The spicy grilled fish is exceptional

These other reviews are misleading, I'll tell you how it is. This place is outstanding and weve become regulars. Our food always comes out in about 8 minutes, hot and fresh, and they don't dilly dally. AND we there's two of use and we always order 4 entrees and a side. We feast and take a bunch of food home. So highly recommended

This place is nice, we really love the food, but they serve mostly spicy food and it’s really spicy though so think twice if you can’t handle heat well. Plus the spicy flavor you get from this restaurant is mostly from the peppercorn, they cook the food with chili and peppercorns so you can feel the numbness from the peppercorns when you eat the food. We had spicy pot, Dan Dan noodle, braised sliced beef flank steak with chili sauce and fresh fish filet with tofu, the server is really nice and friendly, we have the same server every time we visit this place and she’s really lovely.

This is very authentic. I love the beef jerky dish, not exactly like American packaged jerky. My daughter love the fried rice. The owner is very nice and always great us with a smile. The service is great, my drinks are never more than half empty before they are refilled.

Really good, authentic Sichuan cuisine that numbs your mouth. The mapo tofu and dan dan noodles are dishes that I always get when I come here.

T

Sichuan, situated in Southwest China, occupies the easternmost part of the Tibetan Plateau. Its capital city is Chengdu and its cuisine is famous for an abundant use of hot peppers. 🍚 Having recently listened to an outstanding Splendid Table (NPR) broadcast highlighting Mapo Tofu, I eagerly ordered the dish. Forgetting my only moderately developed spice tolerance, I requested a “medium” heat level. 🍚 This was easily both the hottest and the finest Chinese entrée I’ve ever consumed, and walked that fine line between intense flavor and outright pain. But what a spice this was! It came on in psychedelic layered waves, like a resplendent ballet company pirouetting with strength and grace across my lips and palate. Unbelievable.

Diamond in the ruff. Sometimes the best places are found out of necessity. We were hungry and lost, and google said this spot was close, so we went. It is next to a Best Western in a neighborhood I'm not familiar with, but I'm going to be back because it was worth it! The menu is wide ranging in meats and textures, from tofu to rabbit to tripe with the staples of garlic chicken and wonton soup for lovers of the simple. They have a heat scale for those who love or dislike spicy. Our table had: kung pao chicken w peanuts, garlic chicken, and tofu with chili minced pork. All with great flavor! PS: no brown rice.... if that's your jam. This is NOT your 'strip mall, full of cheap veg, millon items on the menu that all taste the same' kinda place. We will now go out of our way to come back to this place. I'm used to NYC Asian restaurants and this can compete. Totally worth it.

Service was fast and pleasant. Food was outstanding #702 stir fried flank steak was amazing. #616 Schecuan spicy chicken was great, but be warned, it is hot! But oh so good. I would like a few more green onions or snow peas, but that is just being picky. We live on the other side of town, but will add this restaurant to our takeout rotation.

This Chinese restaurant it is the best Chinese in Orlando I ever went. The one in Baldwin Park it is the same name but it is not the same food, the colonial drive location it is way better, we go every week and always amazing, go and check it out

This is a very upscale looking restaurant. Got there at 11:30am and already there was a line waiting for the place to open. Majority of the costumers are Asian which solidifies the fact that it's a good quality Asian restaurant. Picture below is of the stir fry beef. Beef was very tender and cooked to perfection. There's lots of ginger pieces and chunks of garlic if you're a fan of those flavors. At the bottom of the dish, was a lot of oil floating. So after eating the meal, then you see how much oil was really in it. Another plus at this restaurant is that they actually give you water with a few ice cubes and not ice cubes with water as is done most places.

Amazing, authentic tasting Chinese. As a note, a spicy dish is actually spicy. Dishes shown in order are the Spicy Szechuan Chicken, Spicy Kung Pow Chicken, Shredded Pork with Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Pork Dumplings.

5 Star for food quality. On the pricey side and smaller portions for the price. Basic diner facilities (attached to motor inn lodge) that serves gourmet fare. Tried lunch specials… prices have increased from what’s posted online 😒.

Since moving here from Seattle 6 years ago I have waited for an authentic sichuanese restaurant here in the Orlando area! My wish has finally come true! They only opened a few days ago and we've already been there twice. The food and service is the best!

This is one of, if not THE best Chinese restaurant in Orlando. Undoubtedly it's the best Szechuan. Don't let the West Colonial Drive location fool you - this is outstanding. Authentic flavor, great variety and a lot of chef specials. Get the Szechuan Shrimp...look at the size of those U-5's...

We had the great fortune and opportunity to dine at Taste of Chengdu during a soft launch. Everything we tried was full of flavor and delicious! I only eat vegetables and fish and there were lots of options. Our server, Jessie, was super-friendly and helpful!

Best Chinese restaurant in Orlando! Place is way too dangerous for my waist since I can't stop eating. If you haven't tried Sichuan style food then you aren't living life. My favorites are the dry woks and mapo tofu.

This is it. If you’re looking for an amazing and authentic Chinese restaurant, this is the place you are looking for. The dry pot here is just right with great flavor, and they have done a great job with their wontons. Highly recommend

Presentation and taste were phenomenal. I had the eggplant with garlic and also ma po tofu... I can't say enough. Even good Asian restaurants can go heavy on the oil with both these dishes but these were perfectly spiced and the eggplant was creamy but still held its shape. My cousin ordered tea and the whole, dried flowers both looked and smelled wonderful. This place was such a surprise, especially given the location - it turned out to be a great pre-concert dining location.

Authentic Sichuan cuisine. Very friendly people too. It’s a lovely place to visit in Orlando.

Once you try their food you will understand why they're a Michelin rated restaurant, and why their tables are pretty much always full. I forgot their names but the two waitresses that came to our table were very kind and helpful with choosing the right dishes. We got the wonton dumplings (sweet with just a hint of spice) and the noodles with meat (more spicy) which were both some of the most unique and flavorful dishes I've ever had. The decor in this place is great for dates.

So great! Loved the mapo tofu and kung pao chicken. Spring rolls were great too! Super delicious, incredibly fast and fresh, and beautiful decor!

I’ve been here several times and it never disappoints. This is the best restaurant in the greater Orlando area in my opinion. The bad reviews are from people who are inexperienced dining at this type of restaurant, uncultured people. Most people complain about the portions being small are of a certain demographic if you know what I mean. The larger tables have turntables in the middle intended for eating family style. Meals are meant to be shared. You need to order several dishes and share with your party, NOT one order for each person. We always go with a large party because it’s more fun to order more things and share the experience. I recommend ordering a variety of spicy/non spicy, meat/veg, hot/cold you can reset your palate. The pricing reflects how you mix and match dishes. This place is delicious and I am obsessed with sichuan peppercorns because they have this delightful numbing effect. I took my boyfriend who grew up in a small town not exposed to other cultures and even he loved the experience but you need someone to tell you how to order. If you need help on placing your meal, the staff it’s delightful and happy to help. Staff is very attentive, restaurant is clean and well decorated, and food is phenomenal.

I gotta say, I was surprised and quite impressed with the quality, freshness, taste, and presentation. Just happened to be in the area getting service done on a vehicle and felt like I wanted some Chinese food. Googled Chinese in the area and came across this. Boy am I glad! The three of us were all rather pleasently surprised by the menu, and the finished products. Highly recommend checking it out. I will warn, it's not cheap, but it's freshly prepared for you, and you can taste the difference!

This was my first stop in Orlando to try Bib Gourmand ranked restaurants (I’m not sure if it was this restaurant or their other one that won the award) regardless the menu’s appeared the same. I had the recommended Sichuan cold noodles which were spicy but outstanding. I also got the Sea Cucumber Soup which must have been a shareable because it was huge. It was pretty different but still very tasty. A nice first stop and a good meal for sure. @210booze

Food slaps, service better than expected. They brought my wife a napkin bc they saw her sniffling 🥲 noodle were very soft and the pork bone soup was good. the spicy wonton was also good. we'll be coming back to try more of the menu.

This is the best Chinese food I’ve eaten so far! And that is saying something cause I love Chinese cuisine and have been to a lot of chinese restaurants. The traditional dishes here are like no other. Their hot pot was a treat ! It had lotus root, potatoes, chicken, beef and shrimp and the spices were just perfect. I didn’t expect much from the octopus when the dish first came out. But it was out of this world tasty! I enjoyed everything here .

E
Eddie Wheeler

Fantastic. The best Chinese food I have ever had. I had the spicy pork dumplings, spicy baby octopus, and the cumin lamb. All was very spicy but done correctly as not to cover the flavor of the dish. The lamb dish was one of the best lamb dishes I've eaten. Only thing I could find issue with was the amount of filling in the dumplings. It was very good, I just wish there had been more of it, noodle to filling ratio off for me, but I would probably get them again anyway. Portions are fair for the prices, spent 57.00 plus tip, and have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Amazing and exciting authentic Chinese Szechuan style restaurant in Orlando. This place is pretty good. Entrees are authentic enough that Chinese people actually eat there.. ! Excellent service- attentive wait staff, restaurant layout is modern and seating is comfortable. Entrees can be a bit pricey but it depends what you get, it maybe a lot of food or little portion. Overall, experience was pleasant. It was rough in beginning when they first opened back in May-June 2018, but they’ve improved a lot,in terms, of quality of food & speed of the meals served. In the mornings from 7am-10am, they serve American style breakfast per agreement from Best Western, but not bad, their breakfast is good too. Important to note that they are closed on Mondays, closed from 3-4:30pm and I think they take the last tables around 8:30pm nightly. As of May 2019, My favorite entree is the 402 Chengdu beef fried rice. It is really good, they use flank steak. It can serve about 2-3 people and definitely it’s worth the $12. 2nd favorite is the pepper steak.

Taste of Chengdu is the real deal!. For the location it is one of those places that without google ore reviewers you might not be able to find it. The place: very nice decorated! A touch a modern style with Chinese accent elegantly placed. Super clean and very efficient staff. Good English all of them and the menu easy to navigate. We loved the lunch specials ($7.95 All of them!) and got to try 3 of them. The fish, shrimp, tofu, soup, tasted amazing! It’s probably the best Chinese restaurant so far in Orlando for me. Must visit.

Another successful trip to taste of chengdu! Always a must visit when in Orlando. If you like the spice of life that comes from China you will love this spot. Authentic food with some deep cuts you don’t typically see on menus in the US.

Tried a bunch of things on the menu and it was close as deciding a favorite... the Dry Pot (Dry Wok w Fish) takes the crown. 2nd but not far behind are the Dan Dan noodles then Shrimp in Orange Liquor Sauce, Sea Cucumber soup and last pickled cucumber. Good service. Clean restaurant. Can't wait to return again!!!👍👍👍

Big Boy Dining Out

Taste of Chengdu 2030 W Colonial Dr., Orlando, FL 32804 5 Stars As I was in O-town on other business and hungry, I popped in some parameters to my trusty random name generator and was greeted with a Taste of Chengdu blinking back at me. For those unfamiliar with Chinese geography, Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province. You know it's going to be spicy! I arrived moments before the regular lunch crowd started piling in and, without an ounce of folie du doute, got to work perusing the menu. Glancing up, I noticed the place filling up with Asian patrons, speaking what I assumed was Chinese. This is a good sign. If you are in an ethnic food joint and the diners are all of that ethnicity, you know the grub is going to be tasty! Joy was my waitstaff today, and not to get all cheesy, but it was a joy to be in her section, as she was outstanding in every way possible. I asked for an order of their pickled cabbage soup, diced rabbit, pork dumplings, the House dry wok, and some slow-cooked pork belly. As Joy removed herself to place my order, I relaxed in the welcoming atmosphere. Before too long, Joy returned with my foodstuff and forcing myself to snap some pictures I dug in with great anticipation. Everything looked and more importantly, smelled out of this world. I started my gastronomical journey today with a sample of their Pickled Cabbage and sliced fish filet with traditional Chinese cellophane noodles. While I did find this somewhat lacking in flavor, it was prepared correctly. It just might be not to my taste. Turning my attention to the diced rabbit, I promptly loaded up a forkful and plopped it in my mouth. Savoring the flavors like a sommelier sampling a Williams and Selyem Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, I took my time as the flavors dribbled around my palate. This was outstanding! The rabbit was tender, and the Sichuan Mala sauce was abundantly flavorful, with just enough heat to remind you of whence it comes. Kudos! Taking a bite of the pork dumplings, I knew I was in the right place. These were fresh, made to order, and again, outstanding! What a treat! The dumpling was perfectly cooked and nestled in an ambrosial sauce. The same can be said for the last item up for review today, the slow-cooked pork belly. This was thinly sliced pork belly, slow cooked and served with cucumber in a minced garlic and chili sauce. I am sure all sauces are made by their own Le Saucier and whoever it was on FIRE! This sauce, like the others, was complex, flavorful, subtle and hot all at once. I am in awe. The Big Boy says, “Tely's is damn close, but Brevard will NEVER have a Chinese restaurant this good as we just don't have the demanding clientele Orlando has.”

J
Jiyeon Portnoy

Great service and amazing food! I had a spicy dry pot and it was so delicious. Staffs were so friendly and nice. Food was really delicious and savory and authentic. I really enjoyed the food here. I want to go back next time when I visit Orlando again!

This place has been all the rage for Chinese foodies for a while now. We finally made the trip to try it out and were extremely delighted with the food. Their dishes are absolutely delicious and authentic. Beware that the food style is Sichuan, meaning most of their signature dishes are fairly spicy and has an unique sourness too. The restaurant is very clean and bright. The staff are fairly friendly too. The bathroom is extremely small and needs more maintenance.

THE most authentic cuisine we've found outside The Great Wall!! Absolutely a MUST if you enjoy real Chinese food. The cold rabbit appetizer is phenomenal. The beef flank soup is perfectly spicy -- the noodles are delicate but substantial (made in-house) The 'Chengdu Fried Rice' is very different than what most Americans expect, and well worth tasting. The Dan Dan noodles are WAY more filling than they look -- we love them SPICY, but they can be made mild as well. By far our favorite dish here is the 'whole fish'. It can be ordered several ways, but we usually ask Chef to choose the style and flavor for us -- and we have NEVER been disappointed. 😍 The people at Taste of Chengdu are warm and welcoming -- we especially love Jesse, Jenny, and Fiona. Chef Tiger is a culinary genius and food perfectionist.

LarderRoom...Taste of Chengdu in Orlando, Chinese cuisine specializing in the taste from Sichuan! We enjoyed everything! Highlights included the Twin Lobsters and the Pork Belly w/Cucumber. If you like Szechuan cuisine, you'll know walking in that almost all the dishes here will be insanely spicy! Food came out in under 15 minutes, which amazed us, considering how carefully crafted each plate looked. Loved every bite of this savory, spicy meal. Particular shout out to the fish dish we got, which was the highlight of all the food orderd. All the flavors added to the dish hit all my taste buds in the best ways. My favorite part of the meal was the service. Quick, friendly service. Always ready to refill cups, replace plates, and answer any questions about any of the dishes. Will definitely continue to keep coming back!

Since I first visited this location three years ago, I have been addicted to their dishes. So I have been there every Friday afternoon in the past three years. My favorite dishes is Beef Jerky and Ma La Xiang Guo. This is the most authentic Spicy Sichuan restaurant that I have been to in the United States. I have been to the Chinese restaurant in China town in New York and China town in California. So far, this is my favorite Chinese restaurant. More interestingly, I took my Co worker to the restaurant and she brought her mother with her, both of them fell in love with this restaurant. They love the rich flavor of the dishes. So they have become a regular like me. I took my accountant to this restaurant. He fell in love with the beef jerky too. He brought his family there. They have become a regular. Since I am there every Friday afternoon, I have made my appointments to meet my associates there. They all become regular of the place. Their Chef is from Sichuan. Their ingredients are from Sichuan. I like Orlando so much because of this authentic Chinese restaurant. To be honest, I cannot live happily without going there at least once a week. I get addicted to their food. The service is good and they have three or four chefs in their kitchen, so their food comes out very quick. I read some others views who complain about their food come out in two minutes and they think the food is microwaved food. I can say that there is no way microwave can make this delicious food. If you really love Chinese food, come to try it and you will get addicted like me and become a regular. :) Life is beautiful because that I can have authentic Sichuan food in Orlando.

Enjoyed Sichuan dinner at the classy 'Taste of Chegdu' on memorable 25!!! Had Young Chow Fried Rice (Shrimps, Chicken, Ham, Scallion, Egg, Peas & Green onions) and Laziji Chegdu Chicken (Dry wok dark meat Chicken with dried Red chill and Mala).

J

Ordered the General Tso's chicken for lunch. It was quite tasty, better than your average Chinese restaurant. The hot and sour soup was especially delicious. Just beware: Portion sizes (at least for lunch) are quite small. The fried rice could easily fit in the palm of your hand.

E
Eric Robbins

Authentic Chinese food in a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have an extensive menu but with limited options for “American” Chinese, be prepared to be a little adventurous if you have never eaten at an authentic Chinese food restaurant. The spice scale might be a bit higher than you expect so ask for more mild to start if you are sensitive to spicy food.

G
Gu Kim

Authentic Chinese cuisine. Wish it could be spicer but I think we can ask for it which I will the next time. The menu is huge. Very large selection. Also got a lot of different types of food that some Americans won't enjoy so be careful when ordering. Oh, and make sure you have plenty of time. It seems like they make things from scratch so it takes a long time. If you have 30 minutes to eat I suggest you try somewhere else.

Fantastic tasting Chinese Cuisine. Lots of interesting dishes I wanted to try everything. Their green beans were my favorite vegetable side dish ever! I ordered the braised Hairtail fish which I had fresh once before and these must've been preserved in someway and unfortunately didn't live up to the fresh version of this fish, however it was still tasty just had more of a salt cod texture vs the fresh which is moist and almost gelatinous. Dumplings and wontons were all amazing. Will definitely go back next time I'm in the area!

This Sichuan (Szechuan) restaurant is a must for anyone who loves bold, spicy flavors. The dishes are packed with that signature numbing heat and deep, aromatic spices that Sichuan food is known for. Everything tastes authentic, from the rich sauces to the perfectly cooked meats and vegetables. Portions are generous, spice levels are customizable, and the food comes out fresh and hot. Great atmosphere and friendly service make it an easy place to come back to again and again.

I am Chinese. This restaurant is rated 4.3 stars and I feel responsible to leave my review. We come here all the time if not twice a week. We have toured almost all the Chinese restaurants in Orlando that look promising on Google. Many of them have better reviews but non beat this one. This is THE BEST Chinese restaurant in Orlando. The Goat. 1. Majority of people who eat here are Chinese. Today I saw only one white person. They don’t cater to American taste. They are more on the salty / spicy side but they are authentic. 2. If you feel a numbing sensation it’s from the sichuan peppercorn- you aren’t having a stroke and don’t freak out. 3. If you see other Asian fusion restaurants with thousands is reviews and 4.9 stars in winter park, it’s ok. They aren’t better. That’s why you see mostly non Asian people go there. 4. It’s always fast service. Plates are clean. They don’t say “how are you my name is… I will be your server today” because they are from mainland China and they aren’t being rude to you. It’s just very authentic service style lol. 5. They have two locations - owner/boss is always at the west colonial one.

Love this restaurant. It is by far the best Sichuan cuisine restaurant in Orlando. The staff is always friendly and the food is always hot, fresh, and comes out quick. This restaurant's specialties are in the dishes from Sichuan province. Don't come here and order General Tso's chicken, you will be doing yourself a disservice.

I dined in yesterday and ordered the House Special Dry Pot — absolutely loved the taste and presentation! The flavors were bold and authentic. I do wish it included some dry tofu inside; that would make it perfect for me. I also tried the Tangerine Pepper Fish, which was amazing — flavorful, spicy, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this place if you love spicy Sichuan cuisine!

Food is great, scezhuan style so flavorful and a bit spicy. Recommend the cumin lamb. The dry wok vegetables were good, lots of scezhuan pepper corns. The laziji chengdu chicken was good, but so many pieces of dry hot red pepper that there was not much chicken. Not had a bad dish here. Prices are a little high, but worth it.

During our visit to Orlando, we stopped in for dinner at Taste of Chengdu and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, and our food arrived promptly. Everything we ordered was both flavorful and impressively spicy—just as we hoped. The service was outstanding; the staff answered all of our questions thoroughly and even took care of boxing up our leftovers. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food made it well worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Sichuan cuisine.

I read that this was a very good restaurant. And it is😋😋. The place is clean and the servers are right on. The Spicy Sichuan chicken in mala sauce was what i had initially thought i would have it. It is a good choice but me not knowing it was served cold was my bad. The chicken broccoli and beef broccoli are delicious. the spring rolls are so delicious and the hot and sour soup was delicious too. it’s very authentic so don’t expect to get the normal stuff you’re used to👍👍.

As a Chinese person who grew up near Sichuan province, this place is amazing if you want a taste of home. 🥲 Thank you so much for being here.🥰 People complain about the portions or price, but I think it’s very fair. The environment is amazing and the food is very authentic. It’s an equivalent of a very delicious steak house. We ordered five dishes for four people and we were all full. For people who needs recommendations, here you are. Hopefully I can be some help. Veggies dish: please get the eggplant in garlic sauce. You will never regret and you would want it again next time. Meat dishes: cumin lamb (great dry heat style lamb with veggies and the cilantro is a great touch) Sweet and sour pork rib. This is a must have if you want to have some breaks in between spicy food. Lazi spicy chicken. It’s a classic Sichuan dish and the crunchy texture is a great addition to your order. Tofu with beef (I don’t have a picture here but if you want something authentic - spicy and numb 👅 taste - the huajiao spice makes your tongue numb while the chili brings in the spiciness) Beijing pork - another dish to cut down the spiciness. Also, let you have a taste of Beijing area cuisine. Dessert: Sticky rice with brown sugar and bean powder. It is SOOOOOO GOOOOD! Please try it. 😋

The service was attentive. The food was authentic, the chef's cooking time control was skillful. The sour and spicy soup was appetizing. The twice cooked pork belly was flavorful. The stir fried cabbage was tasty. They were all a little oily to me, but oily is part of the authority I guess. The ingredients were fresh.

Wow !!!!!! First time we have been there . The food is phenomenal. One of the tastiest restaurants in Orlando. The service is friendly, the price is good and the portions are also good. If you like a food full of flavors that is the place . Also the atmosphere is nice and very easy to parking.

There are two locations and we’ve been to both. Today went to their Colonial Drive location. Taste of Chengdu is absolutely delicious, but we love Schiuan cuisine! This is a must try. Baldwin Park location in nicer area, but food just the same at both locations. Nice service each and every time we’ve been.

Very authentic, however, the peppercorns were a bit much for me personally, but I imagine many other would feel differently. The wontons were great.

Some fantastic unique dishes. Many spicy dishes to choose from. Love the flavor. Very authentic Chinese food. Best to go with a Chinese friend to help with ordering favorites, or just experiment. It fills up with mostly Chinese clientele. This is not a place to order American NY-style Chinese fast food (e.g. general chos and fried rice). They can get very busy at night, which causes slow service sometimes. Be patient, they are working hard, just spread thin sometimes. Location is not the best area in general. I suspect they picked it for a combination of eye traffic near Chinese area + cheaper rent.

Very tasty offerings that were authentic. A bit expensive, but the flavors were spot on. A good spot for a nicer Chinese meal served family style.

The food is just insane. 💯 incredible schezwan style cusine that is really enjoyable by anyone that likes a spicy flavor. The service was alright, but the food was worth it.

The Chengdu chicken was so so good. I loved the hot and sour soup as well. Would definitely come back

The reduced their portion sizes and increased the price. But the food is still fire (literally)

Don’t be deceived by the pictures, the portions are really small. The price is pretty average compared to other authentic Chinese restaurants but the portion is much smaller. However, it is very authentic and you can taste the quality and freshness in the ingredients. If they made their portions bigger this would be a 5/5 spot.

So sad to say that this location is not as good as the location at Baldwin Park used to be. They changed their spicy wonton sauce so that it no longer has the sesame paste. Also, the Crispy Fried Fish in Sweet/Sour Sauce was not what I expected and definitely not worth the market price of $65. There were parts of the fish that still had partially uncooked/mushy batter. A redeeming factor was the delicious chicken dish and the great green beans. Overall prices of other dishes are reasonable. Service was friendly and we didn't wait too long for food.

Went in earlier on Valentines Day, don't want to wait in case overcrowded. We had a few take-out at this place before. Green Sichuan Peppercorn Fish Fillet is our favorite, even it numbs your lips on the very first bite, we still love the flavor. This time we took a recommended whole live fish, which costed almost double. To be true I didn't taste that much difference and still good, with a large bowl. The green beans were very good too. The other two dishes were just average, one had too much oil. The bill was pretty HIGH. We left just before 7 pm and the place was about half full. Will be back to try more.

It was a nice surprise to pass this place when we drove through. We have several dishes there and the taste was very authentic sichuan flavor. Service was great and decoration was Chinese style. Love it big menu with pictures of dishes.

Always enjoy eating at Taste of Chengdu, I like the complexity of favors from Chengdu dishes, their aromatic combine with spices can make me eat multiple bowls of rice with my meal. Each entree come with only one bowl of rice and if you wanted another bowl it’s $2 per bowl. Next I am going to write about was their sweet and sour ribs which I normally didn’t order but wanted to try it today. It tasted good and authentic, but the price of it is pretty steep $18 for 8-10 pieces of small bite size ribs. If you decided to go there don’t order it as it does seem like a rip off. But their fish dry wok dish was pretty great with Szechuan pepper corn and dried chilies. It was $24 it was cooked with complexities of flavor and it was worth it, it was my go to every time we decided to go there. The waiter came by multiple time to ask us how we are doing and if we need anything, good service but some dishes are awesome but some other dishes may not be worth it!!

An amazing spicy little restaurant that you can miss if you don't look! The food was THE best Chinese food I have had in Orlando! We decided to order things we never seen on a Chinese menu before (aka not your run of the kill dishes). Chengdu did not disappoint. We ended up having the pork dumplings, baby squid in chill sauce (cold dish) and slow cooked pork belly! (Probably the one of the best pork belly I have had). We also got the side of rice since we were more curious about the dishes. Amazing food we will be back. And if your too far from this location try their Baldwin park location next to the Publix.

Great food! What I got a couple of items. I got the green tea fried rice with no bacon and ham, this was really good without the bacon and ham. It was not oily and was still flavorful. I also got the garlic eggplants, this was also very good, it was a little on the sweet side and also oily but still good. I do find that a lot of chinese dishes are more on the oily side since they need the oil to make it fragrant. I also got the fish dry pot. This was not as spicy as I thought would be (I am comparing it to one I tried in China). Personally, for me, the veggies were crunchier than I liked (wanted them to be a little more cooked). Environment Pretty random place but good food. This is located off 50 near a hotel. There is nothing nearby in terms of other foods or plaza, you are there just for the food and leave! Maybe you can go to the asian supermarket after or hear to the mills area for some desert like ice cream or boba. Niceness of the staff Very nice staff. I had 2 servers stop by the table and both were nice. With language barrier I think they aren't as conversational but they definitely try, I was able to get my fried rice without bacon and ham! Dollar I thought it was more a little bit expensive. The dry pot was $25. Yes I would def go here again if I crave this style of chinese food.

proper szechuan, good flavors and the heat is definitely there if you order the right dishes food comes out extremely fast so the location seems to turnover guests pretty quickly went on a friday night and there was not much a crowd, the prices are more than appropriate, not sure what the other reviews are talking about make sure to get the dan dan noodles and the laziji chicken if looking for mala there are non-szechuan dishes on the menu as well, however i would recommend sticking to the szechuan dishes as this is authentic szechuan cuisine

Sichuan peppers have such a unique spice, tantalizing numbing effect, and citrusy floral highlights and Taste of Chengdu is not afraid to use them! Their menu is pretty unique with a variety of stir fry dishes that use these peppers from common proteins such as chicken, pork, and beef to the more unique rabbit, frog, pig intestines, and more. This place definitely has stuff for the more adventurous eater to try out! Our table ended up playing it a little more safe and ended up getting the Sichuan Style Spicy Chicken and Dan Dan Noodles. The chicken definitely showcased the peppers key attributes (definitely try it out if you have not had Sichuan peppers before) and was perfect to share. The Dan Dan Noodles were delicious too and were not too spicy, but you can get them spicier if requested. We ended up getting the dessert too which was a yam based dessert topped with a blueberry topping. It is definitely not your expected 'sweet' dessert and was more on the savory side. Overall, I'd like to come back and try out something a bit more adventurous next time with extra Sichuan pepper oil!

All right... this place is a mix of emotions. The flavor profiles are spot on. Considering the owners are from Chengdu. A city in the Szechuan province, the main chefs are from there too. So you're getting the full flavor profile. Portion sizes..... this is where it gets tricky... and expensive. If you get the stir fried cabbage, a heaping portion comes out. Cabbage is cheap. But if you get the stir fried pea shoots, like I did, it's enough for maybe 2 people. In the picture, that's my hand over the entire plate. Twice cooked pork, crispy beef, portion sizes are small...for about 25 dollars per plate...your money isn't going far. As I said, you're just there for the flavor profiles. I kind of think of it as a very expensive tasting. If asked, would I go back... the portion sizes and prices would keep me away. Rice...a staple in Chinese meals. Plain old long grain rice. For the price of the dishes, I was expecting something better, jasmine? Medium grain rice? Or is it that's what they only serve in Chengdu? Service wise, very attentive, until it gets busy. Then you have to flag down anyone to get your bill. Pretty much the same anywhere else. Locations, there is one in Baldwin Park, and another one on West Colonial. Like I said, go for the flavors, but be prepared to empty your wallet.

Dined here with our family whom lives in the area so we had a group of 6. We ordered some appetizers which we all shared from (family style). All tables have a turntable / lazy Susan so you just spin around the platter to share from. Dan Dan noodles were pretty good as were the dumplings and the short ribs. We ordered several different main dishes and shared each of them. The Japanese beer was good too. Service was so-so. Should have been more attentive to our table. Gratuity was automatically included in the bill at 20%.

J

While the taste was passable, it was not the best representation of authentic Sichuan cuisine. For a price range of $20-$30 per person, the portion sizes were disappointingly small, leaving our party unsatisfied. Unfortunately, I experienced digestive issues after dining there. Though the suggested gratuity starts at 18%, the service we received was subpar. I won't be returning and cannot recommend this place. Orlando offers a plethora of better Chinese food options.

Overpriced. Got one of the soups and there were 4 or 5 measly pieces of meat, $17 for basically 3$ of food. Service was slow and uncreative. The food was good but I felt ripped off and like they expected my money regardless of ignoring me the whole time. Paid, tipped, and won't be back. Would suggest trying it once but after that you'd only try it because you enjoy being treated poorly and ripped off

I came from Tampa to Orlando for a trip, and before heading back to Tampa, I was really excited to visit this restaurant. Google Maps showed that it closes at 9:30 PM, and we arrived at 8:45 PM. When we got there, the hostess told us the last call was in 15 minutes, which was fine for us since we planned to dine in. However, it quickly became clear that the hostess didn’t really want us to eat in the restaurant. She turned around and complained in Chinese to server about us wanting to dine in (I’m Chinese and understood everything). She kept trying to persuade me to place a to-go order instead, seems like they were worried about having to stay late if we ate in. I completely understand how hard people in the restaurant work, but it still felt impolite to push customers to leave when the restaurant was open for another 45 minutes. Overall, the situation was quite awkward.

V

Service is terrible. We asked the waitress if the one of the soups had rice noodles. She pointed to the wonton soup on another page and said it was good. I said, I'm just wondering if they have rice noodles. She seemed upset and said no rice noodles. We then ordered way too much food for my son and I and had to take it to go. We barely ate the fried rice and cabbage dishes. The Chinese waitress insisted on packing it for us and took it to the kitchen. She came back with 3 little containers. There was no way that the food could have fit into those little containers. We won't be coming back.

E
Elaine

I would rate this place zero stars if I could. When we walked in, it reeked the scent of urine, which immediately puts me and my family off. However, the most appalling part of this entire experience is when the waitress guided us to our table, and we asked for a booth instead. She seemed confused and was like okay! have a seat anywhere you want. Keep in mind, we were the ONLY table there, so we took our seat at a random booth as a table of four. As we sat down and opened our menu, we suddenly hear the waitress, in very loud Chinese, tell another other waitress "I told the customers to sit at table 13, but they refused to no matter how much I asked" . For the Chinese readers out there, the actual translation is " I told that table to sit at table thirteen, but they rather die than sit there." I was so appalled when I heard that I had to turn to my sister who was there as well to confirm what I was hearing, and she was equally wordless. We ordered, and when the food came out in 2 minutes, I knew something was wrong. The food was most likely microwaved, because there was no way some dishes were done in two minutes. Im not even exaggerating. 2 minutes. The cold dishes tasted okay, but the hot ones? 100% microwaved. At the end, my father paid for our meal and tipped 18%. It was 18% too much in my opinion, but he hadn't heard what the waitresses said originally and wasn't aware. The way I look at it, the 18% is our pity tip for the day for them, since they were literally dead when we walked in. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for years, I cannot imagine a better place to go for poor service. The biggest laugh we got though was when after the waitress complained about us to the other worker in Chinese, and she came to take our order, only for my dad to order in Chinese. She was shocked. Luckily he didn't hear what she had to say. Moral of the story, don't tell customers to sit wherever unless you don't mean it. Awful awful place

I am strongly disappointed with this place. From service to food. 🌶️I know that spicy is one of most Sichuan cuisines’ feature. But making all the food very spicy for covering salty taste, is not a good excuse. 🧄I wouldn’t mind if some dishes are highly priced for either good quality or good amount. But almost $40, I don’t even get 4OZ frog meat out of the plate. It was mostly garlic, chilies and scallions stuffs. 🐟 Also, I ordered cabbage fish soup. In the menu, it says for 2 people. They used medium size bowl to pretend it’s big portion. But the actual food was less than half bowl, and 1/2 of the food was cabbage, plus the other half was 1/4 rice noodles and 1/4 fish. 🫗The server charged me extra steamed rice and never come back to check on our drinks. After waiting for a while, we standed up to the front to ask for the bill. 🚫We spent $100 here, 2 people, both leaving with hunger.

No crowd when we got there on a Saturday, the staff was very attentive, but the food... no taste at all. We asked them to make the rice spicy, no spice at all. The food is very bland. We wanted to try somewhere new, and it was definitely a mistake coming here.

Feeling uncomfortable overall. Went in for lunch, was so happy at the beginning. Until I heard someone else asked the lunch menu. And I asked it too. Then the old lady accusing young one gave me the the cheap menu will let them to have less tips. Feel discriminate by my own people.😡😡😡

Scratching my head on why this place is rated above 2 🌟🤔 I snapped the entire airbrushed menu… aiii if they didn’t set the expectations so high, maybe we won’t be sooo disappointed. But the food looked NOTHING like the pix and tasted mostly awful. 🤮 The 2 stars due to the salad they put out was super fresh and tasty. Here’s the rest of the run down. 菊花茶🌼at $5.99 where most Chinese restaurants give for free had an odd taste. Mung bean noodle was trash. Tasted like old and gritty rice noodles chopped up. We got sick from it. Beltfish was … We survived it. Barely. Cabbage 手撕包菜 was decent. Braise beef with bamboo shoots …. Compare with the menu picture, it is not even in the same galaxy. The sauce was so muddy with horrendous tough beef lacking in flavor. We got sick . Urgh 😞 Sticky rice mochi 红糖糍粑 was not bad either.
