Wonderful spot for gluten free or just good food. My family and I dined here for breakfast. The service and food were wonderful. Great atmosphere.
my husband and I are visiting Southern California and we saw Maldon’s Bistro on the “Find Me GF” app. he has celiac and i eat only gluten free with him, so we are always on the hunt for a tasty gluten free spot. first, we were beyond excited to be visiting a Christian owned business, may God bless this restaurant abundantly!! we were so impressed with the beautiful aesthetic of this French bistro with absolutely such sweet and genuine staff. we came here twice during our stay, and some highlights I could recommend is an ice lavender latte, the French onion soup, the OC omelette, the Nutella crêpe, and most definitely the cinnamon roll! The pastry chef is so talented! we would recommend anyone who has gluten-free dietary restrictions or anyone who wants a fine dining experience in a French/American bistro with friendly staff and amazing food!
I am not gluten-free. I eat gluten as one of my primary sources of nourishment. Maldon's however, does not disappoint with their exclusive menu of gluten-free options. We started with the popover carousel, bread rolls topped with jam and butter atop a cast iron skillet. They were soft, sweet, mildly salty, and delicious. I had the short rib sandwich. The bread was a bit denser that usual but it worked well with the rib and the horseradish sauce. The fries were crispy, peppery, and hot. I finished my lunch with a hot café Americano. The service was wonderful. The decor was attractive and stylish, but not overwhelming.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This restaurant is an absolute hidden gem and has instantly become my favorite restaurant in the world. Not only is it dedicated gluten free (a dream come true for me), but the food is so incredible you would never guess it’s gluten free. From the first bite of the freshly baked croissant, I was in disbelief—it’s soft, flaky, and buttery, just like a Parisian bakery, only gluten free! The Popover Carousel came out golden and airy, topped with house-made jam and honey butter—heavenly. The Brisket Benedict with perfectly poached eggs and roasted veggies was rich and comforting, while the Steak Frites rivaled any fine bistro with tender hanger steak, chimichurri, and crispy fries. Every dish was beyond delicious. What makes this place even more special are the owners, Laura and Michael. Their warmth and passion shine through everything—from the service to the thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Laura has spent 7 years perfecting her own gluten free flour blend and dough (which you can even buy to take home). Her breads, pizza dough, and pastries rise and bake just like traditional gluten dough—soft, crusty, and flavorful. She’s a true genius. We went for brunch, but I cannot wait to come back for dinner. I’ll be dreaming of this place until my next visit. Run, don’t walk—you need to experience this!
Maldon’s Brasserie, Mike and Laura—you are truly one in a million. I hold Maldon’s in the absolute highest regard for creating not just a restaurant, but one of the most beautiful dining experiences imaginable. From the moment you walk in, it feels like an extension of a family home: warm, welcoming, and filled with love. The food? Quite simply the BEST—gluten-free or otherwise—that I have ever had. Mike and Laura have crafted a haven for the gluten-free community, where every dish is not only safe to enjoy but also extraordinary in flavor and quality. Their commitment to sourcing the purest ingredients, free of preservatives and full of wholesomeness, is truly admirable. Dining here for Sunday brunch was a revelation. Everything is made in-house: from the delightful jams and perfectly baked pastries to the deeply flavorful sauces and lovingly smoked meats. The thick-cut bacon, cured in-house, was unforgettable. The waffle was airy and crisp, paired with sweet jam that tasted like sunshine. The huevos rancheros, bursting with Mike’s signature red sauce, were packed with incredible flavor. And then—the cinnamon roll. Words cannot capture it. It is, quite literally, divine. We couldn’t leave without taking home the sourdough loaf and baguette. To have gluten-free bread that captures the joy of simple pleasures was nothing short of magical. Maldon’s Brasserie is more than a restaurant—it is a community, a sanctuary, and a true gift to anyone who loves food made with care, integrity, and heart. Whether you are gluten-free or not, dining here is an experience not to be missed. Highest praise and my wholehearted recommendation.
I came here twice in the same weekend because it was so good the first time! Tried the smoked salmon tartine which was delicious, fries which were perfectly crisp, French toast which was quite rich, short rib French dip with yummy au jus country fried potatoes, fried chicken sandwich with cole slaw, cinnamon roll, and biscuits (not all on the same day and not all in that order). Everything was absolutely delicious and beyond anything I imagined possible for a gluten free restriction. Typically we are left with only cardboard-like bread options but not at Maldon's! My non gluten free eating partners also agreed on both occasions! Food was very clean and I must say the fries and country fried potatoes are so delicious as they are perfectly fried with the right amount of crisp and the right kind of seasoning, fried in rice bran oil. That cinnamon roll served straight from the oven is not too sweet and so satisfying without being too much. The biscuits...oh my gosh I hadn't had biscuits in so long but these taste just like normal biscuits! Laura, the owner, is such a gem. She even heated up some sourdough slices for us to try with garlic herb butter 😋 I haven't had this much "bread" in a long time and the fact that it didn't make my stomach hurt was a wonder! Thank you for the yummy food. I highly recommend this place for people looking for well-priced, clean gluten free food while supporting local businesses! Thank you Laura! See you soon ☺️ PS I posted their new dinner menu!
Gluten free menu with many options! French toast was so good! Their gluten free sourdough was great as well, I'll be back for a loaf of that . They have a bakery ordering options to pick up items like sourdough, English muffins, cinnamon buns, and pizza dough. I will be back for that option for sure. Pretty atmosphere inside. Good service , gave great recommendations.
Our server Cher was incredibly kind and made us feel so welcome. We really enjoyed our coffee and yummy cinnamon roll. Can’t wait to come back and try the dinner menu!
I had a wonderful time!!! The food was delicious and fresh, plus it didn't make me sick. I got to eat bread safely for the first time in ages. The staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable. I had the savory breakfast crepes, which were delicious. The atmosphere was great and the inside has a charming French bistro vibe. Tell all your gluten free pals about this amazing spot!!!!
Impressive menu but wish I ordered something other than the biscuit trio (takes ~30 min to arrive and tasted just as dry as any of us celiacs/gluten free-ers would've attempted to bake for ourselves). You're also likely to run into entitled Orange County moms doing entitled Orange County mom things, although, none of the above is a reason to give less than 5 stars! Make sure you have plenty of time as waiters may be busy and GF food, in general, requires longer prep times. Also be aware that this is not a location that you would/should park around--best to walk/be dropped off. Overall, happy to have visited during my stay.
My wife was super happy finding this place which is totally gluten-free. The food was lovely and the coffee superb -- I got the Eggs Benedict and a lavender latte. We sat outside and later enjoyed some nice live music. Our server Cher was wondeful!
Incredible dedicated gluten free breakfast/lunch place. Blown away by the made to order cinnamon rolls hot out of the oven on a cast iron skillet, and their out of this world sourdough bread. I've been a gf baker for 20 years and my daughter works in a gf bakery. I am very impressed with the taste and texture of their bread, and my son, the gluten eater agrees! The staff is lovely, and it's a beautiful location inside and out. Lots of little touches of love throughout. Everything is fresh and from scratch, and it shows. The tartines and the American breakfast are fab! Also, the thickly sliced smoked bacon, hello, maybe the best we've ever had. I had the pleasure of eating there twice before heading back to the Bay and I miss it already. Fortunately for me, I was able to make room for their giant sourdough loaf in my carry on!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Maldon's Brasserie, a French restaurant in Irvine that recently started a dinner service. From the first bite to the last sip, the experience was a delightful journey through classic French flavors with some pleasant twists. We started our meal with the gougères, which were a true standout. These savory cheese puffs were wonderfully soft and buttery, pairing exquisitely with the accompanying berry jam – a surprising combination that set the tone for the evening. For our main courses, we sampled two French brasserie staples. The slow-cooked short ribs were exceptionally tender and flavorful, practically melting in your mouth. They were accompanied by buttery, smooth mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked broccolini, rounding out a comforting and satisfying dish. The Steak Frites also impressed. The steak itself was incredibly tender with a fantastic crust, cooked to a flawless rare as ordered. A delightful surprise was the house-made chimichurri, which was roughly chopped, bright, and salty, adding a vibrant counterpoint to the rich steak. The accompanying fries were equally well-executed – crisp on the outside and wonderfully pillowy inside, with excellent seasoning. To cap off the meal, we indulged in the lemon cupcake with strawberries. The cupcake was soft, moist, and boasted a delightful crust on top, while the strawberries were firm yet tender and bursting with flavor. It was a light and refreshing end to a rich meal. Our bartender, Adam, crafted a lavender lemon drop martini that was simply superb – simple, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The wine selection was extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering a wide array of choices to complement any dish. Maldon's Brasserie is a welcome addition to the Irvine dining scene, offering a refined yet approachable French experience. I highly recommend a visit!

Wonderful spot for gluten free or just good food. My family and I dined here for breakfast. The service and food were wonderful. Great atmosphere.
Great experience all around! Husband has celiac disease so having a dedicated gluten free facility is A DREAM! Biscuits were the highlight. Also had the cinnamon roll and breakfast crepe which were also great! Beautiful and serene atmosphere on the patio. Will be back.
My family and I went here for my birthday last year. It was a real treat since I have celiac and am lactose intolerant. Most places to eat out with these limitations are vegan which I am not so it was really nice to have a nice hot meal with yummy meat involved. I haven’t tried everything but I would if I could. Everything we did get was delicious. The customer service was awesome. Really great feel all the way around. We ended up taking home some bread from the bakery and it’s some of the best GF bread I’ve ever had. Even if you aren’t gluten free, this place is so worth a visit. You can feel and taste the quality of the ingredients. So yummy! Hoping to get back in soon.
I tried trough and ordered two different types of sandwiches for my lunch and both were horrific - so I went back downstairs from my office and came here and had the best steak and fries in the best atmosphere. What a gem, grateful this place is here and doing such a great job with their ingredient quality and service. This place feels like a thoughtful healthy kind fun from the best places I’ve ever been to. I had the escargot and the steak frites they were so good. The owners were beyond friendly. Decorations For the fall were so comforting!!! The open window breeze was so refreshing. The green room with a gallery artist was so unique and delightful. I will make this my OC destination spot.
Absolutely love this place. I have a gluten intolerance and I love having a restaurant I can come to where I can order anything (especially a great breakfast) and not have to worry about it. I also love that I can bring my partner and friends who don’t have issues with gluten and they still love the food. I also enjoy knowing it’s a locally and family owned restaurant that I’m supporting every time I go. The restaurant is gorgeous and clean and the service is always fantastic as well (shoutout to Adam)! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We had a fantastic Sunday brunch at Maldon’s Brasserie! This was our second visit, and one of the things we love most is that our gluten-free friend can order anything on the menu—a rare find. From the moment we walked in, we loved the vibe. The decor is beautiful—it truly feels like stepping into a charming French bistro. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Huge shoutout to our server, Cher, and bartender, Adam, who were both incredibly kind and attentive. They went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. The quality of the food really surprised us. On our first visit over a year ago, we thought it was pretty good for being gluten-free. This time, it was just plain delicious—gluten-free or not. We had the steak frites (tender steak, a delicious bearnaise sauce, and perfectly crispy fries), the duck confit poutine (genuinely one of the best poutines we’ve ever had, easily rivaling anything we had in Quebec), and a freshly-baked cinnamon roll (warm, moist, and gooey in the center). The cocktails were all also consistently delicious as well! Overall, the service, atmosphere, food and drink were all exceptional. We definitely recommend Maldon’s Brasserie and can’t wait to try the dinner menu next!
This is an interesting French restaurant, featuring gluten-free food & baked goods. We started off with a cup of French onion soup, which comes with a popover. This soup features amazing depth of flavor, & was quite delicious! My cup of English Breakfast tea was hot & very tasty- the perfect beverage for a chilly-by-OC-Standards November midday. You can order breakfast or lunch here until they close at 4pm, then Maldon's Brasserie re-opens at 5:30pm, for dinner. For my lunch, I ordered the $16 Maldon's Classic Cheeseburger, with a 1/4 lb. cheese-topped patty, fresh leaf lettuce, tomato, onion straws, Thousand Island Dressing & BBQ sauce, sandwiched between 2 plump Brioche buns. This came with a generous portion of French fries. The meat was really tasty. The texture of the gluten-free buns was different, so I couldn't talk myself into finishing them. The fries could've been warmer, but tasted good. My partner ordered $28 Steak Frites, which are incredibly tender & delicious marinaded steak cuts, topped with Chimichurri, alongside a large portion of fries. She loved this. This restaurant, located on the ground level of a modern high-rise building, is surrounded by equally tall & modern buildings, which reach into the sky. Outside patio seating has views of the skyline, plus a lovely man-made pool, & fountains-front & center. The inside of Maldon's is artfully decorated, in a lovely French Country style. In the front of this space is a nice bar area, with seating on 3 sides. The restrooms can be found in a slender hallway, accessed through a countryside scene printed door, set in a brick wall facade. The door blends so well with the surroundings, that from afar, I thought it was a large framed picture. We parked in a multi-tiered parking structure behind the restaurant, costing $1.50/ for 15 minutes. *BE SURE & BRING YOUR PARKING TICKET, & ASK YOUR MALDON'S SERVER TO HAVE YOUR PARKING VALIDATED! AI notes Maldon's will validate your parking, if you use this parking structure, for up to 120 minutes. We didn't know about this, so our parking proved costly, ending up costing us the maximum, of $17. We enjoyed the food, views, lively banter & excellent service here, throughout our meal, so it was more than just a quick lunch. The menu had some good & varied choices, but I found it to be slightly limited. There are more choices on their Brunch Menu.

My fiance and I were excited to come and try the cinnamon roll. I’m gluten free and haven’t had one in a while. We are on tight budgets as new teachers and wanted to splurge on a breakfast out. When we arrived we ordered the cinnamon roll. Our server came back five minutes later and we ordered the burger to share and an iced vanilla latte. I was told you didn’t have vanilla, totally cool, I’ll get caramel. It was then brought hot :(. Our server never came back for me to tell him. I told the man who brought our burger out if he could ask our server for it to be iced. Then we noticed our burger didn’t have onion strings like the menu said. After a few minutes our server came back and we asked. He went to the kitchen and told us that the restaurant was out but he could get us grilled or raw. We were okay. We ordered the burger for the onion strings :( the fries killed though. When the same kitchen guy came out with our cinnamon roll we asked about the coffee again. He was surprised and said he’d let our server know again and he was busy. Our server came back and tried to sway us away from getting the coffee but I wanted it. He then said you made vanilla so I could have that now. We asked for it to go though since we were done eating and for the check. I got my iced coffee in a few minutes (lavender flavored I swear) and after ten minutes of asking for the check we got it with, and I quote, “one of the coffees taken off.” I only ordered the one iced :( Also there was a cockroach above my head while eating. I’m just so disappointed in our experience and service especially since we don’t really have the budget to do breakfasts/lunch like this often. Also as someone who has a bunch of gluten free family members I thought I would have a new place to recommend. :( I also tried to email the restaurant previously and didn’t ever hear back
I recently visited this establishment and unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by poor customer service. Upon arrival, I waited at the "Please wait to be seated" booth for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment. After noticing employees walking by, I approached the front counter register, but still received no greeting. After an additional 15 minutes, someone finally acknowledged me and took my order. At this point I no longer wanted to done in so I just ordered to go I waited this long after 25min. The food, however, was a highlight. I ordered the Croque Monsieur with fries ($16) and French Onion Soup in a Cup ($8). The soup, although small in portion, had a fantastic flavor and was one of the best French onion soups I've had. The Croque Monsieur was equally impressive, with perfectly melted cheese and soft, fluffy bread with just the right amount of crispiness. The fries were delicious, with a garlicky flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed. While I appreciate the restaurant's gluten-free menu, which is great for those with celiac disease, it's worth noting that the options are limited for vegans, as it isn't dairy or egg-free. The ambiance was pleasant, with live music adding to the atmosphere. The space itself was clean and inviting, and it was nice to see that they were dog-friendly on the patio. Despite the food quality, the lack of customer service left a lasting negative impression. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but the absence of a greeting or acknowledgment after making eye contact with several staff members was disappointing. With the added hassle of paying for parking by the 15-minute increment, the overall experience didn't feel worth it, especially considering the lack of basic customer service. While the food was tasty, I don’t think I’ll return, as the service is a crucial part of the dining experience, and it was lacking during my visit.

I went here with family for a casual breakfast on a Tuesday. It was not particularly busy but took a while for someone to come and seat us. After we were seated they completely forgot about us and didn't come by for 20 minutes. I eventually ordered a Macchiato and an American breakfast. The Macchiato was in no way correct. It was basically a bowl of cold milk with a questionable splash of something that resembled coffee. I don't even think they used or know what espresso is. The food order for the table took another 30 minutes to come out. We checked in with our waiter whom we had to flag over for attention and she said it takes a while because everything is made to order. Given most of us got eggs and one person got a sandwich it's hard to see why it would take that long. They finally brought everyone's meal but mine. And took another 15 minutes to bring my plate. When they did bring my food, my potatoes were cold and my over medium eggs all had broken yolks. I begrudgingly ate it because I was starving at this point. The gluten free sliced bread was good for gluten-free bread, but generally on par with any decent gluten-free bakery. Overall I would say the staff didn't really seem to care across the board.
The food is amazing. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing about this restaurant. I have dined in, ordered online, and ordered over the phone. Each time the restaurant is a disorganized mess. It takes forever to get someone to acknowledge you even when it’s slow. If you order online, the food isn’t ready when they tell you it will be. I called at 10am and it took them almost three minutes to pick up their phone. And most recently, I tried to preorder 3 orders of baked brioche rolls to be picked up. I called in, spelled my full name out, and paid for it all over the phone. I sent my partner to get the order for me. Again took forever to be acknowledged then they couldn’t find my order. After waiting about ten minutes, they claim they got my name wrong but they had my order. Except it wasn’t my order at all. They tried sending him home with one order of unbaked rolls. He went back and told them the order was wrong and it should be three orders. Turns out they either gave away my order or they never made it at all. They made my partner wait another 20 minutes so they could roll out the rolls and I still had to bake them at home after I specified I wanted them baked. He ended up waiting at the restaurant for a total of 45 minutes when he was just there to pick something up. As someone with celiac, I was beyond excited about this restaurant and the quality of the food is amazing. However, after this experience, I will never be back.
