Love this place! I order takeout from this place a lot. They are really good. Friendly and fast service. Especially love their sashimi dinner, braised pork rice, okonomiyaki and takoyaki! Not as big of a fan of their nabemono or budae-jjigae tho.. Still one of my favorite places in Ithaca.
I haven’t been able to find a great sushi place in Ithaca… until now! The service was lovely and the food was SO delicious. The salmon, unagi, yellowtail, and tuna we tried tasted so fresh. The prices weren’t too bad either. Will definitely be returning here soon and recommending to all my friends!
Are you ready to sit down on a cold day and drink some hot sake with a little fresh sushi? Osaka is a great place to check out. Conveniently located on the mall in downtown Ithaca. There are parking garages near by if you can't get a street spot. Parking is free on the weekends and holidays. A warm and welcoming little shop. The attentive staff had our drinks and appetizers within moments. The gyoza was crispy and savory. I enjoyed the edamame as well. Their beef bulgogi was an interesting take. The shaved steak and copious onions in a light sauce, not too thickened with sugar. I enjoyed their sushi sashimi dinner combo. The miso soup was hot and well balanced. Instead of house salad I opted for some seaweed. The bowl was huge! Lightly seasoned and crunchy, so tasty. The sushi cuts were appropriate sized, quite cold and trimmed well. The sashimi rice was the correct texture and just the right amount of vinegar. Apparently the soy sauce is all slow sodium, but you could ask for regular. They have a decent selection of desserts too. I was happy that I popped in on a whim. Check out Osaka today. For a rural town in the middle of upstate New York, the sushi ain't bad and the service is great. Thank you Osaka for a lovely little lunch on a snowy day.
Love this place. Relaxed place to get a quick bite to eat with my young daughter. She loves the sushi and boba tea. I recommend the stewed pork over rice.
Delicious. Sushi was very fresh and the tempura was light and crispy. Also had a chicken curry dish with rice noodles which was quite tasty. Service was excellent and it was a quiet, laid back atmosphere. We’d go back again. 🙂
We ordered a variety of dishes for pickup, and everything was very delicious and appreciated by adults and kids alike. The food was ready at the agreed-upon time. We will definitely return.
I work in downtown Ithaca, so I'm fortunate to have a lot of restaurants to choose from. Hands down, Sushi Osaka is my number one go-to choice. The lunch specials are very reasonable, the food is super fresh, and the sushi is delicious. I order online or call, and I've never been told it would take more than 30 minutes. I enjoy the walk, so I always pick up my order. The restaurant is cute; however, the air conditioning is inadequate, so on a hot day, it wouldn't be my choice for indoor dining. That said, I have eaten inside on many occasions, both lunch and dinner, and the service is good. Definitely my number one sushi pick.
I really really love this place, I came with my mom, sibling and a friend. I will totally be coming back for my birthday in August. 🫶 Favorite Japanese restaurant in all of NY I tried takoyaki for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Full of rich and delicious flavor. I had the shrimp tempura sushi, as well as miso soup and mango boba. I would completely recommend coming to this restaurant.
Presentation of the food and the taste of the food was great! Surprised that they serve Lunch Specials even on Saturdays. The overall price for food was responsible. The cashier/server was too busy on her phone and too much in a hurry to get back on her phone that when we thanked her for the salads she served us, it kinda when woosh over her head and went right back to her phone by the cash register. The bathroom was just one stall which is fine but in desperate need of remodeling or major cleaning. It was nice to walk around the Ithaca Commons!
We walked in for dinner and chose Sushi Osaka impromptu as we wanted to try their food which seemed like comfort Asian food at an affordable price. The staff welcomed us super friendly and let us sit down for deciding the order. The vibe was somewhat homey with a little touch of Asian decorations, mirrors, and a mini sushi bar without the seats to be exact. We got the California Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Alligator Roll, and Okonomiyaki with shrimp shared for three and two pieces of Salmon sashimi for me. The portion was enough for the rolls and I liked the Alligator Roll the most because it was full of flavor with the eel sauce, avocado, and some fish eggs (I forgot the name). Besides, they also have Korean dishes which are placed on the very back of their menu and my friend told me that he tried the duck and it was scrumptious! I guess it's gonna be my reason to try their food again soon? The staffs were attentive and friendly, and there was this one staff talked with us by noticing our speaking in our mother tongue language (Bahasa Indonesia) and she told us she was super happy meeting students, especially those who came from Asia as she was originally from Singapore which is super close to Indonesia. She gave us a very warm representation of the restaurant itself! Recommended to those who want to try comfort Asian food either for dine-in or takeouts :-)
Food is good! Ordered Miso Ramen; the egg was hard boiled instead of the usual soft boiled you find in ramen places. Although I would've preferred the egg yolk to be runny, overall, the ramen tasted good with just a very faint hint of heat (from the chilis they added). Service was fairly fast.
Stingy restaurant. They did not include the sauce for the scallion pancakes, sent soy sauce that just barely covered the bottom of the little container, my salmon avocado roll was 75% avocado, %25 salmon. Oh, and they send a half-size miso soup with the meals. If my neighbor hadn't had soy sauce, this meal would've been a complete waste. Don't risk delivery with these folks.
One of the few restaurants open on Thanksgiving evening. Good service and a varied menu with plenty of vegetarian options. The food was only average, and there was no music in the restaurant.
Just mediocre quality of Japanese style food you can find in the US. Sake Don was quite an inferior version of its original style commonly found in Japan, as the salmon pieces were put aside of the rice without any sauce, and the amount of rice was too little. Osaka roll was was just a typical one you can find in any Japanese restaurant in the US. The salad provided as a side dish was covered with too much dressing and I had to stop eating it after a few bites.
Placed an order for a crab roll, the mango fried shrimp, and the sticky coke chicken wings with a mango tea to drink. The server let me know it would be about 45 minutes for the wait before placing the order. I appreciated the heads up. The food itself was decent, but could have tasted a lot better. The crab roll was rather small, and the coke wings had good flavor but the portion was really small for the price. Bubble tea is good here.
This is a tourist trap located centally in the shopping only area of the town. Got the shrimp tempura box. 2 small pcs, sushi was small pieces as well. Other meal was 3 rolls. The salmon was poor quality. best to-go up the road, spend a little more for a much better larger portion product. Fried rice deal on sign outside is expired.
Asked for Sushi Sashimi dish to include more salmon to feed a 3 Yr old who only eats salmon. They refused, said no substitutions — even though salmon cheapest cut on their menu. Ordered a salmon don for the child instead, salmon pieces were on smaller end and not consistent. Rolls not rolled tightly and mango crispy shrimp not crispy at all. Would not come again.
