The atmosphere is cozy. The owner and her son are super friendly. The donuts are melt in your mouth delicious 🤤😋. The serving size is more than I can in in 3 days. I'm definitely going to be a regular customer!
Great lunch! Nice people!
Love it here real bad Ashley is my absolute favorite and always makes the best food and has the best attitude. It’s such a homey environment especially when she’s around
The best dinner in town!! I came home from Denver and not a dinner in Colorado can compare! Ashley is awesome she cooks with her heart and soul! The owner Bob came and sat right at our table and was so personable and hilarious! If you leave around there or just passing through, make sure to stop in for great food and a great experience!
Amazing food. The homemade sausage was my favorite. And the fact that they accommodated my service dog like he was one of the family was amazing... And to the couple that bought breakfast for an army veteran, thank you... You are the reason I love this country and am proud to call myself a veteran.
Do not pass up this small local diner, bow to the chef for the most delicious pancakes you'll ever have.
This was our second trip. They have daily specials but the easier said that on the weekend they go quickly, usually by 4:30, so if you're hoping for one of the discussion they just be great because they sell out fast. Went with two kids under two. No high chair, but did have a booster seat. The food is great diner food, and it comes out so quickly and is so inexpensive that it outweighs not having a high chair. Both times we went at dinner time and wasn't too busy. Don't turn your nose at the macaroni salad with gravy, it's delicious.
We absolutely adore this place!!! Ashley and Stewie are great! Brandon is also great!!! The food is cheap and the helpings are plentiful! We go regularly. We try for once a week if not more! As long as it stands and stays open we will always return! It’s been a family favorite for us for YEARS!!! Highly recommend. I can not sing their praises enough! Always welcoming! The atmosphere is welcoming and homey!
The manager was shirt staffed and she ran the place so very well and the food was outstanding! We will definitely be back!
This is the best ( and probably only) 24 hour diner in the Johnstown/Gloversville area. The food is great and at a very fair price. It is a very small, and old establishment. If you’re looking for upscale, this is not the place. If you’re looking for excellent hometown cooking at a very fair price, I’ve never been dissatisfied here. I highly recommend to friends and family.
This place is great! The morning holds an awesome rockabilly sassy cook who will brighten your day! As well as the evening the cook is super friendly helpful and the food is amazing 😊 A great environment &a great place to come and eat
I would've taken a picture of the food but I ate it too quickly. My son and I got pancakes, eggs, bacon, home fries, and rye bread. My husband got pancakes and an omelet (bacon, ham, pepper jack, onions, peppers). They were SO SO SO good. The chef, a woman who has worked there for seven years, did amazing juggling our orders along with all the people who came in after us. Every time we eat there, the food is GREAT.
We loved our experience here! It is a whole in the wall diner that is delicious! Burgers are fresh ground beef and taste like it and the hand cut fries are amazing! Definitely recommend if you come to Johnstown!
So we stumbled on this little diner a few years ago, by accident. We like diners & found it on a quick google search when we came out of the woods after a few days camping. You typically know what you’re getting when you walk into a diner…except this one is special. The sweetheart of a gal who runs the place reminds me of a pinup girl, is welcoming and will pretty much make you whatever you want. They have this crazy Philly cheese steak over potatoes, over Texas toast breakfast which might be the only thing I’ve ever seen my boyfriend tap out on. He actually couldn’t finish it because even though it was SO tasty, it was an enormous dish. We were just camping around there the other day and I’m delighted to find the place is still around, and it’s as good as ever (at really fair prices). Probably because, as the girl who runs it says - everything she cooks, she cooks with love. I believe it. The French toast is thick, light, as fluffy as the scrambled eggs, the bacon and home fries crispy like I asked for (not coated in grease like your typical diner). My man looked at my plate, looked at me and asked - “you’re going to eat all that”?? I said I was and that I’d stab him with my fork if he didn’t stop eye-f——king my food. Worth it, make sure you stop in if you’re anywhere near there!
For a diner in a small town food is absolutely wonderful. Portions for the price is amazing. Prices even for today's inflation is still very low while quality is superb. Service is excellent. I don't remember the man's name that serves, and a chef has been doing an excellent job for over 2 decades and I'm sure longer than that. Great food, great choices 24/7.
Always the best food, great service. Cozy place for Breakfast or lunch. Sausage, biscuits and gravy is always the best!
Great food. Great service. Well priced. Definitely check it out
I grew up in this town and have really been away for the better part of 30 years. As a youth this was our late night go to after we had legally drank and the area we would go at 2 in the morning and get some fries and gravy or mac and cheese and gravy. I was delighted to see the rickety Old Miss Johnstown diner still standing when I returned. The food was as delicious as it was when I was a child and the customers and staff make this such a small town excellent dining experience. Yes it's dirty looking and run down but the food is delicious and the company is fantastic
Bunch of us had a great time w the waitress and cook for a quick meal in between baseball games
What can I say but WOW! In town at a cabin for a getaway and we are glad we visited this place early in the trip. We will definitely be back before we leave, and probably more then once. Food - amazing, Service -fantastic, vibes- stellar, people-incredible... I'm running out of different adjectives to describe this place. It really gave you the small town diner classic experience- locals came in and their food was done for them before they could even sit down and then for people like my boyfriend and me they welcomed us in with open arms and let us try the Mac and gravy. Spoiler alert: it was out of this world! If there was an option for 6 stars, that is what I would give miss Johnstown diner. Definitely make this place a stop whether you are driving through, are in the area on vacation, or live here(but from what I experienced the locals already know about this place)!
Where to begin. This places takes me way back to my childhood. Great staff and food that is very reasonably priced. When you walk through the door it's like taking a step through a portal back in time (in a good way). This is your classic Americana Diner, not a Greek style Diner. Has many of your breakfast staples, reasonable lunch selection and a few full dinner options. The food itself is nothing insane to me personally but I enjoyed it! I loved the atmosphere and will definitely be making this my go to diner.
Wow! Best place to go at 2 am, when you're out with the gang! You get a large portion of food, so be prepared for left overs! The MOST iconic item is the Gravy Mac: beef gravy poured over macaroni salad, a Johnstown specialty! We were taken great care of and it's amazing to see one person handle everything from the ordering to cooking. WILL BE BACK, amazing atmosphere!
This place is a hidden gem. Food is amazing, Ashley behind the grill should have her own reality show. Love this place ! This is my new go to place when I’m visiting in the area.
Stopped by for breakfast and was very impressed. I was greeted like a regular and made to feel at home. Ashley was friendly and talkative. She let me sample the mac&gravy they are famous for 😍 I had the breakfast BLT which was delicious. Strongly suggest stopping in.
Is it a greasy spoon... Yes . Is it delicious food cooked pretty much right in front of you. Also yes. ☕ ☕ 🥚 Went with husband and oldest child. We had a great time the cook was serving as much commentary and smart asset delicious comments with our meal 100% would be back if I were local. It's an eclectic little spot had Miss Mess.Breakfast very good himself had a strawberry pancake nice plate sized cake full of top of fruit. Thanks Ashley you made our morning
Try the Chickerella it’s THE BEST!! Shelley was the sweetest and the best cook !
Jen was the best ever. Food was amazing everything was fabulous. We are from Florida and are visiting family in town and she made us feel like family. She gave us a sample of the Mac and gravy and GOOD LORD, it was amazing. I’ll be back there everyday I’m here to get more and I let my family in town know about it. Love love love. Having Jen work with costumers is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about her and this food. Thank you so much ♥️
An awesome local diner! Service and food were amazing. I'm so sorry I forgot the name of the lady who served and cooked for us, but you are an absolute gem! We are a large bunch, but the food was prepared so quickly, all while attending to other customers and paying attention to everyone and everything, multitasking at its finest. You were kind, funny, and efficient. Thank you!
Small little diner but awesome service friendly, clean and attentive, good food .... Brandon awesome guy to chat with feels like home 👍
Amazing little place! Food is great and you get a good amount of it, and the prices are amazing. It's an old school place and it's definitely a recommended place to eat!
I had a fantastic meal here. Goulash & Garlic bread for 9 bucks!! Portions are huge, my waitress was an absolute sweetheart. They are famous for their mac salad & gravy. It's a MUST try. I will be back here many many times. I do want to add that they are CASH ONLY. But they do have an ATM inside & the fee is only $2.
We are not from the area and didn't want to go to a chain restaurant, searched on line and found this hidden gem. A step back in time, Ashley was awesome and fun, we loved our experience and will definitely be back. Loved the seasoning on the hash browns! When we were getting ready to leave an older couple came in, the man said he hadn't been there in 60 years, said he used to go there with his buddies after being out in the bars. We could see the memories flooding back as we looked at his face.
This diner grabbed our attention by its great reviews. The reviews were absolutely correct. Ashley was the cook and served a mouth-watering meal. I got the Lumberjack. 2 eggs, 2 HUGE pancakes, sausage, home fries, and an English muffin all for $12. There was so much food that I was lucky enough to take most of my pancakes home for tomorrow’s breakfast. Our waitress was also super nice and incredibly efficient. Good old hometown food and service!
Take a step back in time and enjoy a small town dinner. Fresh cut fries and gravy was over the top
First of all, everyone working here that we met was awesome. Nicest people. One of the ladies sat with my girlfriend while I got the car because she was having a medical issue. Secondly, the food is amazing. Some of the best diner food I’ve ever had. The Mac and gravy is life changing. 10/10 will be going back regularly
Small but cozy! The food was amazing—even though they were hit with a huge order when we came in, it was well worth the wait. Everything was delicious, and you can’t beat the prices: two full breakfasts with coffee for just $16! Highly recommend.
My place to go in the early 60’s. Especially at 3am. Mac and gravy or fries and gravy and still on the menu
5/5 Stars I recently had the pleasure of dining at Miss Johnstown Diner, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I could tell that this diner was something special. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with vintage decor and friendly service, made me feel right at home. But the real star of the show was the food. Oh boy, was it good! I opted for the mac and gravy, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. The creamy pasta was cooked to perfection, and the rich, savory gravy added just the right amount of depth and flavor. It's clear that Miss Johnstown Diner has mastered the art of this classic comfort food dish. What really sets Miss Johnstown apart from other diners, however, is their commitment to using only the highest-quality ingredients. From the farm-fresh produce to the tender cuts of meat, it's clear that they're dedicated to serving up dishes that are not only delicious but also made with care and attention. In short, if you're a fan of good old-fashioned comfort food, look no further than Miss Johnstown Diner. The mac and gravy is a must-try, trust me! Rating Breakdown: Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Overall Experience: 5/5 Recommendation: Don't be shy - order the mac and gravy! And don't forget to try some of their other classic diner fare, like burgers or sandwiches. But let's be real, the mac and gravy is the real reason you'll be coming back for more.
Best eggs Benedict ever! Highly recommend. Awesome service and atmosphere.
Take a step back in time to a local greesy spoon. Best dam breakfast and the service is awesome even when short staffed!!!!
First time visiting today. Food was amazing portions were amazing and the prices were very fair. Much cheaper than others. A+++++++++
Great place. Love the staff they are all Friendly No matter what time you go in. The food is good. The service is the best. Anyone that goes in you feel like family.
Great small town local Diner where the food tastes excellent they cook it right in front of you. I'm from out of town but every time I'm in the area I stopped here to eat I've never been disappointed. The place is usually filled with a local crowd kind of seems like everybody knows each other and it makes you feel like you're at home. Every time I stop in here I always have great conversation with the local people and it's just like having a home-cooked meal that they put their heart into every plate
Felt like you were home, Ashley was amazing and so sweet the food was so good. It's that nostalgic feeling like going to your grandma's and having her cook for you old style good food made with love I will 100% stop by next time in the area
I love this place their breakfast are awesome. They're very nice people in polite recommend.
I love this place, it’s THE place to go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I always get the LumberJack meal, it’s the best damn french toast i’ve ever had. Bacon is cooked to perfection, Hash browns aren’t burnt, and the eggs are fresh. The OJ is delicious too, Atmosphere is perfect and the people this place brings in are great. Staff is wonderful and is quick to the draw. 100% recommend and if you don’t eat here at least once then you’re a loser.
Fantastic food in this quaint little diner with great prices and a top-notch cook and waitress. Freshly prepared homemade food is always worth the drive.
Went there yesterday. Very cozy place. Waitress was very friendly and very thoughtful! I got a burger, fries, macaroni salad with gravy, my girlfriend got the BLT. They give you plenty of food and everything came out great! One of the best burgers I’ve had in quite a while. Also great price. It’s a 30 minute ride for me but definitely worth the trip! Thank you 🙏
Wow what an incredible experience. Had a breakfast wrap I will never forget with homemade sausage, eggs and cheese. Home fires to die for. Eggs over light just right. Witty atmosphere all pooled together with so much love it felt like home. Thank you Ashley God bless Miss Johnstown Dinner.
Wow, What a nice homey place to get some great food and even greater service. We were welcomed and seated quickly (but keep in mind the seating is limited, so it fills up). The service was great and they were very kind to us. The food was perfect. Good diner style meals at an affordable price. We got the Cuban Omelet, and an Sausage, Egg, and cheese wrap (both special). Both were great portions. And they hit the spot; just puts a smile on your face like having home cooking for the first time in a while. If you're in town and need good food from good people, be sure to stop by.
Miss Johnstown Diner was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, with huge portions. The people inside were friendly and seemed like a close bunch, it was a wholesome ambiance. I got the lumberjack, which included pancakes. These are by far the best pancakes I've ever had yet! They were fluffy, golden brown, tasty and didn't need syrup. That's how you know it's a good pancake! Again, everyone was so friendly it was such a welcoming experience, all the photos and the waitresses personality made this breakfast memorable. Worth checking out and I strongly recommend trying the pancakes and bacon. Those were my personal favorites.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 Recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely amazing experience. The food gets cooked right in front of you, which is fun to watch. The menu prices are cheap and the portion size IS BIG. A single pancake, which by the way it's just $1; (no really, ONE DOLLAR) and IT COVERS THE WHOLE PLATE! IT'S JUST AWESOME!! 🤣 You get full just by looking at the plate 😂 Our host was really kind, funny and very friendly to us. Definitely will be visiting often. Let's not forget it's open 24/7! ✅
Best breakfast we've had in a long time. My wife got the special. I got a classic breakfast. Flavors were outstanding and the food was cooked very well. Ashley knocked it out of the park as head cook waitress and overall host!
I grew up in Johnstown and still have family there, But I recently visited this diner for the first time. I wanted to try the famous Mac salad with gravy. It turned out it wasn't my thing. And gravy was lukewarm and tasted burned. But the atmosphere is great. Old traditional diner.
My daughter and I stopped here around midnight on our way through bringing her home from college. Yeah, we felt a little out of place, but we were extremely impressed with this little diner. The food is really good, it was actually very busy at the time, and the prices are very reasonable. Pleasantly surprised! They are indeed open 24 hours!
Good diner food, great prices. Their lumberjack breakfast is an amazing two plate spread. Small, and their largest table seats about five if you get close. There are about five tables plus the counter. The ambiance is roughneck-diner, so don't expect anything fancy. As to the food, lots of folks go there for mac-salad with gravy. If that intrigues you, give them a try. If that scares you, this may not be your place. With that said, I have been eating there for years and never got a bad meal. They have the best pancakes around, and if you are lucky enough to be there on kielbasa-chowder day, that's a treat not to be missed.
3.5 overal Ate here for the first time, I hate Mac salad 90% of the time it was really good. My partner loved her food, the atmosphere is rustic and old fashioned I love it. I don’t like the feeling of being rushed to order, also would feel a lot better when I’m not watching customer walk around the counter walking past my food….. owners a great guy but overall the morning was very good. I would highly recommend it
So weird!! The cook/waitress had her tattas falling out of her top and she was swearing. She called everyone Baaaaaby. But she can cook like a champagne. Everything she made was fantastic.
No AC and also NOT gluten free. Went here to have some lunch and I cannot eat gluten. Well the staff (our waitress) not the woman cooking was beside herself and had no idea what or why I would order from there as they had to check to see if they even had grilled chicken!
Doesn't look like much outside, but it surprised me. The Bacon cheeseburger was fantastic. They make their own patties in-house. The inside is a little rough and it might not be the healthiest food, but it was greasy and delicious. Very fair prices. What really kept me there when instinct told me to go elsewhere were the amazingly clean grill vent panels. They looked new, not washed. If you've got kitchen experience like me, you know they're a real pain to clean. They get them professionally cleaned, but it still tells me they care. Grease and roughness aside, that was a helluva burger! Well done ladies.
Food wasn't too bad, bacon could've been cooked a little more as well as the potatoes which were also pretty bland. Prices were really fair tho. Waitress didn't ask about if we wanted things like syrup for pancakes, jelly for toast, things like that. Not sure if they have booster seats for toddlers so mine sat with me. Also real small menu but it's a really small place, definitely don't think I'll go back
Delicious food, however rude staff. Mean to me because I went with friends are we are teens and treated us rudely because they thought we werent going to pay, even though we were very nice. Our total was 20$ or so. Only gave a $1 tip, which they deserved.
Know what you're looking for... I say that a lot in my reviews. This place isn't what we were looking for. I try to rate my reviews relative to what you should expect there... so I'm rating this as a diner, rather than a fine dining establishment. Still.... This place has a lot of good reviews, so maybe we went on an off day? Everything was, I would say, average, all around. The food was on the greasy side, but by the time you order, you'll be expecting that. It was decent enough. The place was passably clean, it seemed to me, though if you are especially sensitive about cleanliness, you might want to go elsewhere. The host / cook / person doing everything, had plenty to say about working there, and about a customer who she had a run in with. We are patient people that don't mind lending an ear, so it was fine, but I could see someone being put off if they prefer not to engage in the local gossip.
Decided to go here for the first time due to the reviews. Unfortunately, for my experience, it wasn't that great. The food was mediocre, we had both asked for hash browns and we got home fries. I asked for a take out coffee, twice, and never got it so I had to ask for it at checkout. The place is very cramped, the atmosphere seems fairly chaotic and hectic. It was okay, but we won't be back. I'll leave it to the locals
I wish I tried the breakfast instead of getting a burger for lunch. First timer and the look of the place drew me in. The cook was a fantastic gal with a great smile and very happy and friendly to boot. had the home cut french fries and bacon cheeseburger. Very fair pricing but the food wasn't anything special. I gave it three stars due to the cook. I feel like if she had made me breakfast the place would be a solid four star. Also tried their famous macaroni salad and gravy. What a pairing! Would never have thought it would work but it did. Still, you only need a little side dish to enjoy. If you find yourself in Johnstown you might give this place a try but go for the breakfast.
This place used to be great. Or maybe it still is great, but it was not when I visited a couple of weeks ago. The omlette/pancake/toast tasted like some processed meat and smelled yucky from using old/reused oil. Apparently, they have not been cleaning the pan often. I really wanted to like this place as the last time visit was great.
So we have been coming here for several years now since we moved into the area. The food has always been good and still is. However in the last year the service went right down hill. Today we had wait staff try to argue with us that my wife never ordered something that we both know she did. Then they spent their time leaning on the cafe bar loudly complaining about customers. And after my first coffee I sat for over half an hour in an empty diner waiting for them to make rounds for a second coffee. Unfortunately while the food is fantastic, it's not good enough to get me to return at this point for lousy service. I will probably not be returning until I hear better things and will not continue to recommend them anymore.
This place is... What's available. We went in expecting greasy diner food and that's what we got. No complaints there, really. The food was okay - the hash browns were good. My rating isn't about the food. The waitress had a bad attitude until she caught us exchanging "can you believe this?" Expressions and then she was all of a sudden friendly. The restaurant itself is extremely small so it made the fact that her and all the other waitresses were practically yelling to talk to each other the entire time that much louder. The biggest complaint I have is the bathroom. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I took my son in to pee and was horrified. I tried my hardest not to touch anything. The soap was an almost empty bottle filled with water. I had to pee too but decided to hold it. I appreciate that there is at least a place to eat in this small town and the food is extremely affordable but they could definitely try a little harder to maintain a good attitude and a clean bathroom.
Should probably have the cook wear gloves and not scratch his beard with his bare hands then touch food.
Avoid any “specials”. The portion and quality was dismal. The one person in our small group received a fine meal from the regular menu. The cook knew everyone in there so I suspect it was a joke played on tourists. Would not return.
Too many places in New York State only accept cash. This dinner is one of them. I cannot reconcile in my mind how refusing credit cards is an advantage to the owners of these businesses. When I see cash only, I walk away as fast as it takes me to read the sign...
I took my mom and sister here for our make up Mother’s Day. Not a good experience. The attitude of the cook/waitress/server was terrible. I understand that she is one person doing it all . But if the experience is being affected the place shouldn’t be open. All our food was undercooked except the bacon and toast. The hash browns were like mashed potatoes. The hash was barely warm. I paid over 30 dollars for this experience and won’t be back. We felt like inconvenience for coming in.
Filthy bathroom. Sat down for 10 minutes and didn't even get a menu, wasn't even busy. Walked out before making an order.
Disgusting experience. Fries were overcooked and soggy, onion rings were soggy, fish was a flat, pre frozen, tasteless triangle that may or may not actually have once been haddock. I’ve lived here for a year and a half and have been tempted to stop in and try the local diner. Let’s just say, that temptation has been cured for good.
Hidden diner spot. Looks like a little cabin in between buildings. Went there at like 4:30 am, and the food tasted that way too. 😑 The lady was very nice, but food not great.
I have been here a handful of times and tonight 1/10 was the worst experience thus far. Took me 45 mins for me and my gf to even get our food after walking in the door then it wasn't even all of our food as the gentleman and lady behind the counter took there times making our food. Then the lady asked the gentleman who hadn't washed his hands and who was a customer to hand me my food after waiting. No hand washing the whole time the lady's pants were unzipped. This was a horrible experience thus far hope u guys can get it together.
Not 24 hours!! Me and my friends cams here after midget wrestling expecting a 24 hour diner, we got nothing! Very dissapointed
My husband and I started going to this diner on a regular basis. At first we were welcomed and the waitresses were nice to us. After awhile one of the waitresses Called Sparkles started making faces at some of the patrons as they entered rolling her eyes and stating they smelled and were old etc. Then she told us she did not want us to use the bathroom because we stink and to use our own bathroom at home. She was extremely rude. We will never go there again!
