Service was great, drinks and so was the calamari!(:
The atmosphere is wonderful, its especially cozy. The Spot was my late mother's favorite restaurant in all of La Jolla. The food comes quickly; prepared as ordered and the service is friendly.
A charming little pub with outside sidewalk dining. Amazing pizza, many options! Super friendly staff! Also dog friendly outside. Even brought us water for our big boy!
Had a fantastic time there. Food was great and there was trivia!
I think it becomes a hot spot in the evening, but for lunch, the warm charming setting, where they were decorating for Christmas 🎄🎁 was nice juxtaposed to the beach. Viva SoCal!
First time there and the food was great! Everyone was happy with what they ordered. Our server was on top of it!
What more can you say… it’s The Spot for a reason!!! Don’t miss the opportunity to pass up good food and great service!
One of my favorite places in La Jolla. I’ve been coming here with my family for 20 years and it is always the place to be. We got married this past weekend and came for our after party. The bartenders Kat and Matt are so much fun so we came back almost every day. Atmosphere is incredible, great food, and the staff is awesome.
Great service, great food the bathroom needed a lot of TLC.
I've always loved coming to The Spot, especially after snorkeling the cove! Tonight, I took my family from Chicago just so they could criticize the pizza (because they loooove criticizing pizza) and it was great! Tim was our server and he was amazing! He put up with all my dad's terrible jokes like a champ. Thanks, Tim!
For a tourist sports bar, this place had amazingly good food. We had the spicy jambalaya and fish tacos (with a justin cab chaser), and both were surprisingly delicious. Good value, too. Try this restaurant!
Great location. Great food. Great service. The outdoor seating is best. Inside is a bit darker and louder. All of the food we had was really good. Some of the dishes were a bit more expensive, but you are paying for the location. I would eat here again to try more of the menu. The fish tacos and chicken fingers were flavorful. The onion rings were good as well.
Ok, so I'm in town to see RHCP and walking by The Spot, who has the peppers blasting on the stero, so of course, that was my sign to go in and eat. Come to find out, the bartender and owner are going to the show tonight. They made us feel super welcome and really amped us up for the concert. The food was excellent, and the service was amazing!
we just passed by this restaurant and it tasted amazing and made our day great! the onion rings under the lamb shanks were the best we ever had. the battered shrimp was also crispy and fresh. the spicy pasta could have used a little more depth but the pasta sauce was great to go with the bread on the side
Kay and Sam are the best bartenders! Love seeing their smiles every time I come in.
I went here on my own to watch my alma mater in the NIT semi-finals, so it would have been more fun if there were more UAB fans there to cheer with me! That said, I really enjoyed The Spot! The American pub fare food was very good, and the overall atmosphere was a fun one. The batter on the pickle chips did not peel off prematurely, and they were a perfect level of sour. The wait staff is super-friendly and just the right level of attentiveness. I will come here again! It would be nice, however, if they had more of a "local" brew variety beyond IPAs. Not everyone is an extreme hops fan.
Great Sports Bar. We ordered the wings naked, with buffalo sauce on the side. The wings were crispy & tender. Celery & ranch was good as well. Hubby said buffalo sauce was good. Great service. Fun. Watched baseball & customers at the bar were nice as well as staff. Will definitely come here again when we're hungry to try the burgers or pizza!
Tim was an excellent server! Place is great for an impromptu lunch while on vacation here.
The vibe is just exactly like Cheers. Friendly conversations, interesting characters and football on multiple tv screens. I attended the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival and on my feet for hours.... This was the perfect SPOT to unwind.
Food was very good. The service was fast. Staff friendly and welcoming.
We stopped at The Spot after a day trip to the beach. Happy Hour gave us $3 off appetizers so we got potato skins. They were very tasty. My husband ordered the fish and chips, but got mashed potatoes instead of French fries. The mashed potatoes came out cold. Our server quickly resolved the issue and brought him out fries instead. I ordered the chicken & bacon pasta Alfredo. It was excellent. Service was great. Food came out quickly. Joanna C was our server. She was very attentive and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this establishment. Decor and furnishings are a little outdated, but food & service supersedes that.
Emi was our waiter, he was very funny! The food was outstanding and the atmosphere is always refreshing. We will defenitly be coming back here again.
Super awesome place and very friendly. We tried for Jose’s first as tourists told us it was great but they were so rude to us as a party of 2 to sit outside. They wanted 6 people so we walked to The spot and was treated so nicely and sat outside under a nice warm flame. Enjoyed some great apps a salad and a pizza. Happy to recommend this place for a warm welcome. Thank you for your kindness. It is priceless these days.
We're in town to celebrate our son and future daughters-in-law's graduation from USMC DI School. Walked by here during the day and thought we'd stop in for dinner. Glad we did. Nick was our server and he was excellent. Had Mike's potato skins to start. They were delicious. Since we weren't starving, we ordered a small thin crust pizza, mushrooms, spinach & black olives. It hit the spot. The atmosphere is full of young, energetic people. Gets a bit loud for us baby boomers, yet it's all good. We'd recommend.
My wife and I absolutely LOVE the cuban sandwiches here. By far the best we have ever tasted. The first time we came here we had happened to pass by this place on accident; which looks very average, and decided to give it a try and wow the food is amazing. We return here every time we are in La Jolla. Definitely recommend. (Get the Cuban sandwich!)
Hidden gem! Well, it’s in plain sight really but we overlooked it several times. This place is drool worthy casual luxury. The menu is HUGE! Enjoy the indoor freshly remodeled bar and grill vibe or the ambiance of the cove nightlife in the outdoor seating which is fully equipped with torch heaters. They have a bit of everything for your entire family. Spicy taste? They’ve got you! I ordered the shrimp appetizer with their famous spicy sauce as my meal… oh my goodness it was yummy. My husband got the jambalaya chicken pasta & was planning to take leftovers because he wasn’t “that hungry”… ate the entire dish. Do we have room for dessert? Nope… ate it anyway! Churro and ice cream. Oh and they have hot chocolate 😍. I looked pregnant for an entire day following this meal LOL. Price to value, this is the BEST PLACE TO DINE in La Jolla cove. Our waitress Emily was great. When we bring our kids back to San Diego we will 100% be coming for The Spot!
My friend and I came on Saturday afternoon to sit in the sun outside and enjoy some cocktails and appetizers. The service was excellent, the watermelon margaritas delicious. While I initially thought the prices for appetizers was high, when they came out they were sizable and delicious and beautifully presented. Recommend.
This place lives up to it's name, it IS The Spot!!! The food was absolutely delicious! The service was 5 star!!! Our server was amazing! We went there for my husband's birthday, it was the only restaurant in LaJolla open past 11:00PM, even on a Saturday night!!! Kitchen open till midnight, bar open till 2:00AM! The Spot literally made our night! The food was so good and our server made it her mission to make us feel cared for and attended to!!! A fun, memorable birthday celebration with the love of my life! Thank you The Spot! We will definitely be back! This is THE SPOT!
Came here for “just one drink”… which is the biggest lie anyone has ever told themselves at this bar. Great atmosphere, strong drinks, and the kind of crowd that makes you feel like you accidentally walked into the fun part of someone else’s party. The bartenders are fast, friendly, and somehow remember your order even after you’ve forgotten your own name. The music is good, the vibe is relaxed, and it’s the perfect place to start the night… or accidentally end it several hours later while explaining to strangers why they’re now your best friends. 10/10 would absolutely come back — though my “one drink” plan clearly needs some work.
One of my favorite bars and the best late night spot for vibes and drinks in La Jolla. Food always hits, great energy from the bartenders and servers. Tons of TVs and always have the games on. Definitely stop by if you’re not sure where to go.
Visited here on vacation by chance and couldn’t be happier! Great service and food. Also, the portions are generous! The even accommodates my particular child’s way of having a chicken sandwich.
I’d describe this place as a sports bar with an Irish spin. The food is reasonably priced for the area and is fantastic. They have a great selection of local beer and a variety of great food on the menu. We will be back.
Wife and I came to see the seal lions and seals! Went to walk around and look at the shops and saw this place and looked awesome! Inside was super cool chill vibe, friendly service and food was AMAZING! I got the blackened shrimp tacos and my wife got the Cali club! Got the pickle chips for an app!!! Will def come back next time we are in La Jolla!
Food was great and servers were friendly. My family loved the food, and especially the mozzarella sticks. Definitely a safe bet for lunch.
The deep dish pizza was phenomenal. It was a bar during a ballgame so it was noisy. Not our type of thing, but everyone was having a great time and that was fun to see. The waiter was funny and attentive. I really enjoyed myself and would get another pizza in a Chicago minute.
Exceptional establishment! The food and drinks are only surpassed by the awesome Manager and Bartender. Was looking for a BIG10 game that was unavailable at local places. Sam and Mike were incredibly accommodating. Thank you for making it possible to watch the game. Amazing Spot...
Great place to grab a beer and watch a game!. Really friendly staff and very accommodating to put on what you want to watch. Update: went back for dinner, my daughter had the beach bowl with shrimp and said it was very good, I had the Bleu Lamb Burger and quite honestly the best I have ever had!
We stopped here for a late lunch, it’s a very relaxed vibe with lots of tables or a bar to sit at, it also has some tables on the street. A great selection of beers and there is so much to choose from on the menu. Service was excellent and very attentive. Vegetarian options were good for my wife and daughter on the menu as well. My wife had the mac & cheese, I had the steak which was cooked perfectly. My son had a hotdog which he said was the best he’s had so far.
It was a great last-minute brunch. My boyfriend and I ended up just getting the soup of the day "Seafood Soup" and French Onion Soup since we were hungover. New Year's 😅. I also ordered the Sweet Potato fries and a beer on tap. All around it was a great atmosphere. The service was very polite and attentive, and the restaurant itself was clean and had character. Next time I visit La Jolla, I will keep this spot in mind for drinks and comfort bites 🍻🍽
Over the weekend we stayed in the ❤️ of La Jolla. We discovered this place and it didn't disappoint. So many options to choose. Daughter ordered wings and son the individual stuffed pepperoni 🍕 Hubby and I tried the lobster soup and split the delicious Cuban 🥪 😋 Everything was delicious and can't wait to return to try other items. Loved the Holiday vibe and captured a shot by their beautiful 🎄
We LOVED The Spot! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and our server was INCREDIBLE! Our family of four (6 & 15 year old kiddos) had an enjoyable evening dining at The Spot. We played a game of Trouble while waiting for our food. Our server was attentive and, offered recommendations, and accommodated our requests. We would highly recommend the fried fish tacos. The garlic bread was fantastic, too. Stop by The Spot and enjoy!
My Husband and I visited The Spot on an early Sunday evening while visiting La Jolla, we actually had seen it in passing and when I was researching restaurants on Yelp later that day, The Spot came up with good reviews and had a good list of beer selections so we thought we'd give it a try! It did not disappoint! The Spot seems like a cool "spot" (pun intended) to catch a game as they had multiple TVs, plenty of seating, a decent sized bar and lots of long tables for larger groups. It gives off the "sports bar" vibes while maintaining a clean, relaxed environment. They offer a great selection of menu items, offering a good variety of something for everyone! We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, and I ordered the Beer Battered Fish & Chips as my entrée while my Husband ordered the Garbage Burger - both dishes were really good! I will say the portions are a decent size, especially if your dish comes with fries, so come hungry!

Great service, and great atmosphere! Staff was very friendly. Had the Mac and cheese with fried chicken, highly recommend!

Great food, not the best customer service, and not the most sanitary restaurant. But I guess if you're looking for drinks and some good food and don't care about sticky tables and floors, eat here! The service was very slow and inattentive, but the cook came out with our food and was very nice
Food was great! Service was average. And yet for average service, the tip % options were 20%, 25%, and 50%. Insane.
Partner and I stumbled across this gem a couple years ago. Randomly were both craving a cuban sandwich and ordered two, one for each. Now we come back and get one whenever we are in the area. We get one with a side of fries and the other with onion rings. The hot sauce it comes with is a stand out. Every element of the sandwich has a purpose and is flavorful. I love the pickle, it's always just right, crisp and adds to the sandwich's crunch. Minus one star because at $40 for the both, yikes, we can't come often.
Nice, casual sports bar in town. They had good food and good service. My husband and I shared Parmesan fries, a Cesar salad and a bbq chicken pizza. It was all good in our opinion and we’d recommend this spot especially if you’re wanting to watch a game. They definitely had a lot of tvs!
Food was excellent, so was service. It's a sports bar and that's great but the sound was unnecessarily loud such you couldn't hear anyone at your table. Only negative.
This is a short walk from the La Jolla sea lions and caves. There is a very steep hill though, so be prepared for that. It did take a long time to receive water and cocktails, but the food was good. There's a good amount of stores and attractions nearby. I'd recommend if you're in the area.
I’ve been going here for decades while in La Jolla village. The food is still reliable. Fireplace was lit on a cold day. Cozy spot to eat at. Seems like it has declined a little since my last visit several years ago. Noticeably poor house keeping and there was a smell of stale beer in the air.
Super noisy. I was unsure about eating here. My friend ordered a steak and it was so tender I cut a few pieces with a butter knife. Needed a little more seasoning though. Veggies were done right and the food came fast even though the place was packed in a Friday night. I had pizza which was also good and even passed the next day cold test. I would recommend it as a stop. Good food and good prices.

We stopped here out of convenience and we won't be back for a while. I ordered the shrimp and scallop pesto pasta that sounded good. Plus someone rated this place 5 stars and also said the dish was good. Tonight's first impression was sad to say the least. The table was dirty and though the menu sticks to the table, the waitress didn't clean it. The highlight of my dish was that there was plenty of sauce to go with the unexpected abundance of overcooked shrimp and scallops. Took a while before someone, not our waitress, came by to refill water. But she was ready to take our order before we had a chance to look over the menu. So service was great! As for my date's dish, he also didn't like it. We left complaing about how poor these dishes were for a place in la Jolla and that olive garden and frozen food were better options. Tonight's impression makes me wonder how everyone else have 4 or 5 star reviews.
Server was slow and it felt like they seemed entitled. Then we found out that there was 20 % required tip on our bill and a surcharge for using a credit card. Garbage Burger was good. Not coming back.
Service was quite slow, but it seemed to be due to the restaurant being short staffed rather than the server. He was doing his best with too many tables. The food was a bit disappointing, as both the mashed potatoes and French fries were cold. The steak itself was good, but overall the meal could have been much better if everything had come out hot.

Decent spot for food. I ordered a chili cheese dog with the chili on the side. The inside has a bit of a weird smell, kind of musty and damp. Our server was very nice!

Staff wasn’t helpful and food was mediocre at best. Told the waiter we were ordering a hotdog for the first time for a three-year-old and he brought us a giant overcooked sausage like brisket dog rather than explaining it wasn’t a normal hot dog. Very little flexibility with menu choices, because apparently the cook isn’t pleasant If you want tacos, stay away from here and talk to Mitch

I rode my bike 128 miles today and ate almost nothing. Went to The Spot for a pizza. It was awful. So much wish I had gone somewhere else.
Have to say we were disappointed with our experience here. My burger was cold and undercooked. My husband ordered fish that wasn't good either. So bad that he didn't even eat it, he only ate …
My brother and sister in-law booked a reservation months in advance for a wedding after party. They gave away our reservation after being a bit late (within the margin of error), and there was absolutely no apology from the management (“that’s just the way it is, it’s busy”). I would 100% not trust these people to look out for you if you want to make a reservation. Would give 0/5 if I could. Response: We were not late, our reservation was for 10:30, we showed up at 10:35 (we have emails). After checking further we found out that you weren’t careful and gave our reservation away to another wedding party. Bad gaslighting and pretty unprofessional.
Undercooked dough on the deep dish pizza. asked for thin crust, that too was undercooked..
The Worst Restaurant Experience in San Diego – Spot La Jolla My friends and I (a group of 5 women) had an absolutely horrible experience here. The manager, Mike, not only tried to force us to pay a mandatory 20% tip (even though we were willing to leave a smaller tip due to the extremely poor service), but when we refused, he became verbally abusive and used offensive language against us. Even worse, he got physically aggressive and actually put his hands on one of my friends. To make matters worse, he was clearly extremely drunk while on duty — the smell of alcohol was strong on his breath and it was obvious he was intoxicated. This was both unprofessional and frightening. We had no choice but to report the incident to the police, and an official report was filed. This place is unsafe, unprofessional, and should be avoided at all costs.
5% surcharge for wages and they still ask for a tip. Won’t be returning. Response: Calling me cheap instead of being a good employer increasing the price enough to pay your employees a livable and fair wage. Don’t make customers do your job. Pay them fairly.
A colleague from Europe was visiting and we decided to treat him at the Spot. Few of us are being customers since they’ve moved here in San Diego in the 90is.Always loved their deep dish pizza. In fact we were there only few days before for our girls night out and it was great as always. But last night…well, what an unfortunate experience. It’s a Tuesday night, the place is very slow. Since the beginning we noticed lack of service, the dining room wasn’t supervised by the stuff. The hostess didn’t greet us,not even a “good evening “…well not a big deal.We didn’t know it was just the beginning!! I am not gonna describe all the details about the luck in service,it will be too annoying and probably most of the readers will not believe me,it was so unprofessional. Our server disappeared most of the time,so difficult to have someone’s attention, they were all inside the kitchen or chatting at the bar,we even saw our server walking in the back with a Corona beer for himself!! The frustration was very high and when, finally,we got our server’s presence he had a rude attitude and he act a little bit racist too. Sure,we have a strong accent, but he made my friends repeat herself 5times “12 inches” just to diminish her. I was so embarrassed in front of our European guest, what an unfavorable impression for him! Long story short,As a business owner myself,I feel so bad for the owner of this restaurant. A rude server and an unethical “manager” with both a big Ego,can partially ruin your establishment. I hope this review can put a Red Flag to the owner,as the manager suggested -we should consider not coming back anymore-…but seriously?why are you working in the HOSPITALITY Industry if you’re so intolerable and brazen?
Miserable experience. The fish taco I ate sent me straight to the can. Like immediately. Then after dropping a mass that an elephant would be proud of, I realize there is no toilet paper in the stall. I had to finish my meal and walk the few blocks to my car without having cleaned my rear split. Hopefully the people I walked by didn’t suffer too much
I used to come here all the time but now the new owners seems to have put a cloud over this place, me and my wife came here tonight 2/29/26 and the lady who presented herself as the owner was rude, she told me we couldn't sit in a more private area instead she kept trying to sit us at the bar, then we we fought with her attitude our pizza was burnt to a crisp, my wife ordered another pizza at full price with no curtisy or a discount. Place is a dump now.
I don’t even know where to begin…. I came in today with my daughter & sister and there was a ROACH IN HER SALAD!! Like literally running around her salad and she didn’t notice until after a few bites 🤮🤮🤮🤮on top of a disgusting insect being in our food, before we could even place our order the waitress, Sally I believe her name was, was extremely unpleasant and unwelcoming. I have worked in the hospitality industry for a long time and I would never in life treat a customer/family how we were treated. Her attitude was if taking our order was a bother and nuisance. Completely off putting when intending on having a nice family dinner in a beautiful location. When alerted about the insect, the reaction was completely underwhelming. I felt as if this situation was not handled in a serious manner and quite frankly I am very disappointed as well as my daughter was having to leave her food untouched and leave hungry. This is unacceptable.
