1st time here and wow, the place is super cool! All the bottles in the cages, the decoration, even a wedding photo shooting was ongoing during our time there. We ordered some appetizers and for the main dishes, three different ones. Everything was delicious, the burger is one of the best that I've tasted. The staff was nice all the times and they provide really quick service. I'm looking forward to get back.
Bosscat Kitchen & Libations in Orange, CA, nailed it! My burger was cooked to the perfect temperature, and the fries were thick-cut and seasoned flawlessly. The Old Fashioned was also expertly crafted, a true classic done right. If you're looking for a great meal and drink in Orange, Bosscat is definitely worth a visit!
Food was delicious, our server Jacob was knowledgeable and very kind
The BOMB. Everything that I tasted was DELICIOUS. From the drinks to the chips even the ranch. I strongly suggest you give this place a try. I will say this restaurant is on my top 10 best I have ever tasted. Only downside, and this is completely my fault for not doing some research, there were no high chairs for my little one where we were seated. And my stroller wasn't allowed in either. Maybe somewhere else it may be possible to have them I really don't know. We requested a special server so that may have had to do where we were seated. Service was great. Place was clean. Restrooms were clean. I did hear for big parties wait time can be up to 2 hrs. So plan ahead and reserve a table beforehand. What else can I say Perfection in everything.
Me and my wife held a cocktail reception style party for our wedding here and rented the entire restaurant for the event this past September. It was such a perfect choice and we are super happy with how the night played out. The staff were all great, food was excellent, and the bartenders did great to keep up with all the guests with their amazingly crafted cocktails! Susan did an amazing job coordinating with us leading up to and during the event. She is so friendly, professional, and provided such a great experience for us!. We wanted a laid back but classy “cocktail-hours only” type wedding and the Bosscat team really understood the assignment. It was so classy for such an informal wedding that even all my older/elder guests were impressed and now open to their kids having this type of informal wedding. Bosscat is also capable of hosting a traditional wedding with their available services, but I was so glad they were able to accommodate the style we had wanted. What a great night and I highly recommend anyone one looking for a wedding venue, engagement party, or any kind of private event to include Bosscat Orange in your search! The vibes, atmosphere, decor, food, drinks and staff are all top notch! Thank you everyone at Bosscat Orange!
From the time me and my friends walked in, were were delighted to such friendly staff! We got seated and our waitress was Hannah! She was super sweet. She was attentive but not to overbearing. The menu was simple and had the brunch vibes we were going for. I ordered a Mimosa and the Short Rib Chilaquiles!! The Mimosa was really good. Could have used a bit more orange juice but nevertheless it was satisfying. The Short Rib Chilaquiles with an over medium egg on top. It had red sauce that was to die for. It had a nice spice to it. The cut up avocado and sour cream helped cleanse my mouth. I would highly recommend Bosscat Kitchen and Libations for brunch with friends or family.
Amazing service thanks to Rizo, made my wife's birthday a memorable one with the attentiveness. Great food. I had the 12 hr rib and we got the spicy chicken appetizer and let me tell you that was to die for. 100 % recommended! Can't wait to come back. Sorry forgot to take pictures beforehand.
First time here and I immediately felt like family! The staff are incredibly kind and personable, and will do everything they can to make your meal top notch. The food itself was a wow factor as well, and it had my friend and I constantly mmm-ing and aaaah-ing during our meal. Our server found out I just graduated and came to celebrate, and ten minutes later a handwritten congratulations card was dropped off at our table, signed by all of the staff! I'll definitely be going back, everything about this place is perfection, even down to the decor on the tables! Thanks, Bosscat!

Bosscat has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the OC area! I recently started coming to the Orange location, and the food and service were as consistent as the Irvine location. I didn't have a chance to get the bartenders name, but she helped me last time I was here. I came to work on my laptop and ordered the happy hour menu. Unfortunately, they didn't have wifi, but it wasn't a big deal. The short rib grilled cheese sandwich and the butter burger more than made up for it. The short rib grilled cheese was exactly what it wanted, but I didn't know it. ($8) I was still hungry and also ordered the butter burger. 2 smash patties together. Very delicious! ($8) I'm definitely coming back for Happy Hour!
Everything was fantastic. Anthony took great care of us on a mellow Monday night. The service was great, the hospitality was even better. Great vibe. Great food. Reasonably priced. We will be back!
BossCat Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the plaza of Orange California! James, Robin and their staff are awesome! The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is phenomenal!
I just have to say that the restaurant was clean and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious no doubt about it!
We had an excellent experience here for Mother’s Day brunch at this new Bosscat location. One of our dishes was delayed coming out from the kitchen, and the chef came out and personally apologized, shared that it was his first day and that that he’d made an initial iteration of the food that didn’t live up to their quality standards. He took ownership and they comped the dish, checked on us multiple times to make sure that we were enjoying it, and even brought out a complimentary dessert. Every employee we encountered was friendly and attentive. We were very impressed with the above-and-beyond attitude of customer service, and look forward to coming back soon!
I have been meaning to write a review for this swanky little spot located in the historical Orange Circle for some time now. We recently went there for a work-related Birthday Celebration Party and were very impressed with their Whiskey/Birdcage room!! It perfectly fits 12 adults, just a great atmosphere for enjoying a good time with people you appreciate everyday you work with!! I am sure this room is even more "fun" during afterwork hours (hehe) ;-). Needless to say, it is called the Whiskey Room for a very good reason LOL! The food and service were excellent, and the Party was a success! Thank you to all of the Bosscat Kitchen & Libations staff for making our special lunch a blast!! Note: This is not a complaint, but just a message to Bosscat Management to take into consideration to include the following information on their menu. We were informed by our server that your signature ketchup (which was super delicious) includes bacon/pork product. One of our attendees has dietary restrictions and had already consumed the ketchup before finding out :-(. This is no one's fault, if the question was not asked, no one would have been the wiser. However, just for the sake of letting customers who have dietary restrictions know up front, please make a notation on your menu (in a place that can be easily seen). Thank you again for an A+ experience at your dining establishment :-)!!
Great place for brunch / happy hour. Great drinks, Great food, 1st time here, I would definitely come back. Great server.
They have the tastiest shrimp & grits I've had in California. The crispy chicken was crispy and seasoned correctly. Something new for me was the mushroom fries. The sauce takes it to another level. From the hostess to our waiter service was on point. THE FRIED APPLE PIE WITH ICE CREAM, OMG super yummy and sinful. The atmosphere was lively that afternoon.
I heard about this place from my wife. She wanted to try it but we didn't know if they would have a table as it was a Friday night and we didn't have reservations. Lucky for us they weren't packed and we walked up and they seated us. Our server was wonderful and really knowledgeable about the food and ingredients. The atmosphere of this place was modern but casual. We ordered drinks, The Panama Prescription and The Bosscat, with Four Roses to mellow out the Rye whiskey, per our servers recommendation. She was incredibly correct with the recommendation. We ordered the pork belly poutine and the whiskey brussel sprouts as an appetizer and they were delicious. Since the appetizers were filling we were advised to share a main dish and that would leave room for a dessert. Glad we follow that advice. We shared the sugar barrel steak, which we liked rare and boy was it delicious. It was served with a cheese potato and green beans. Finally we ordered the Chocolate Bourbon Buttermilk Bar. It was rich and very flavorful. It had a toasted oat crust and the chocolate buttermilk filling was out of this world. My wife and I will definitely be back. Wanted to give a shout out to Charissa our incredible server and the entire kitchen staff for preparing such a great meal. I am attaching pictures of the place, table settings and of course the food.
We recently dined at Bosscat Kitchen and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. The food, drinks, and service were all exceptional and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We started off with the Country Bread and Kansa City Meatballs as starters and both were delicious. The bread was warm, fresh, and had a great texture and the meatballs were juicy and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the Coastal White Fish and the Carolina Barbecue Salmon. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and had a great balance of flavors. The fish was flaky and juicy and the barbecue sauce on the salmon was sweet and tangy. We also ordered a side of Maple Buttered Brussels and Cheesy Broccoli "rice" which added an amazing touch to our meals. The drinks we ordered were the Wouldn't You and the Nighthawk, which were also delicious. The flavors were well balanced, and it was the perfect complement to our meals. We ended up ordering too much for just the two of us, so we took two boxes to go, but the taste and quality of the food still remained the same even after reheating. Overall, Bosscat Kitchen in the Orange Circle is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a delicious meal and excellent service. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars rating. The food was delicious, the drinks were well crafted and the service was great. I'll definitely be back.
First off I love that they kept Rod's Liquor alive with the decor. We came on a Sunday and tried a few items from the brunch menu. The food is a nice mix of old school classics with a modern twist. The country fried steak was great, and so was the shrimp and grits. The short rib chilaquiles were super flavorful and not too spicy. The bloody mary was perfectly salty and tart! I can't wait to come back to try the regular menu!
Stopped by here on a busy Sunday morning with my boyfriend. We got seated under their outside terrace and it was so nice. I love the vibes inside and our waitress was super sweet and checked on us often. They have some really cool dishes to try - we wish we could’ve tried them all! The prices are honestly just as reasonable too and the food is super filling.
Incredible. My wife and I made last minute reservations for 2 for the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Given how wonderful the food and experience was here, I'm shocked we got a table so effortlessly. The atmosphere alone makes this place worth the visit, we live about an hour away with some light traffic. It is cozy and has various relics for decoration, to include a giant old-school ice truck freezer door mounted on the wall. It definitely gives off an old Chicago or New York vibe in a good way. The food was immaculate - plated with precision and artistry in mind, and with flavor to match that elegance. I had the pork chop which had a wonderful sweet and spicy glaze (my favorite) and the wife had the short rib, which was braised to tender perfection. It literally melted and could be scooped with a fork. Wish we had saved room for dessert, but the main courses, along with the tasty pull-apart bread appetizer (which also rocked) and savory Brussels sprouts, filled us up. 10/10, we will be coming back for the next date night!
My wife and I went for our anniversary and the staff made it a great experience! The food was great and well priced the service was top notch! We'll definitely be returning.
our server was absolutely so generous. i didn’t expect him to joke around with us during my friends birthday song honestly i only hoped i got his name! aside from that food was so good and so was the beignets and apple pie. parking i would say can be issue you do have to look around, but also there’s options around the area and yes it’s free.
Thoroughly enjoyed hanging out here for happy hour. It's a good bang for your buck and everybody got options for food and drinks. The grilled cheese was okay. Kind of straightforward meaty and cheesy and not too inspiring but comforting nonetheless. The butter burger was amazing. So creamy, juicy, and of course... buttery. Highly recommend. Fries were super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as god intended. The drinks were just alright and unremarkable. The old-fashioned I got was quite average. The vibes of the place was kind of quiet during this happy hour but it was such a nice day to hang out near the window. Service was overall pleasant and friendly. There's a parking structure nearby if you can't find street parking around the area Food: 7/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Value: 6/10
I would like to take a second and recognize the management and staff of Bosscat. We had a small wedding reception at Bosscat with 12 people. To say our experience was exceptional is an understatement. The food and service were well beyond expectations. If you pass up this experience, then that's on you. I can't protect you from bad decisions. I can only hope to make your experience as outstanding as ours.
Initially, we planned to dine at another spot and decided to walk the area as we waited. We saw Bosscat Libations and because we've been to their Newport location, we figured why not try the one in Orange? We had brunch and the food was yum! I had their Loco Moco which gave me fancy Hawaiian isles vibes and my husband had the banana walnut Flap Jacks that were so bite stealing inviting. Their mimosas hit the spot while we waited for our food. The brunch menu has a wide variety of options so we'll definitely go back to try more. Nice vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was great too! Highly recommend.👍
We stopped in on our way up to the Bill Pickett Rodeo. The drink I had was amazing burbon & coffee. (Cant remember the name SORRY) The burger was underwhelming to look at but packed with flavor! I added Avocado & bacon. My girlfriend had Shrimp & Grits. Hella good! Wish I got photo they didn't last long. Lol Cheesy & savory. The beinets were delicious. Best I've had in Cali 🤌🏾
This is exactly what the Orange circle needed. The food and cocktails and service here are great. They’ve got every whiskey imaginable but have a full bar and beer menu to satisfy your needs if whiskey isn’t all that you’re after. Salads, burgers, sandwiches and a number of plates, you really can’t go wrong. Can’t wait to enjoy some beautiful sunny days on that patio if there’s. Everyone knows Bosscat has one of the absolute best brunch menus around!
We didn’t plan on coming here. We had planned on going to another restaurant and last minute decided to try this place out and I’m so glad we did! What an amazing little gem downtown !! From the moment we walked into the moment we left we were greeted with excellent customer service happy & employees. The food was excellent. We came for happy hour. We tried just about everything on the happy ha ha My favorite was the Butter, burger, and spicy Korean barbecue sliders oh let’s not forget the hand cut french fries They are amazing and The house made special catchup and cilantro Dipping sauce !!!!! So many choices of different cocktails, but I have to say the hounds down the old-fashioned was definitely the perfect choice Ambience ! Our server Cherie was so friendly and extremely informative, She brought a lot of laughter and good vibes each time she checked in on us ! She is an amazing person ! To be honest All employees seemed happy and they were always smiling and answered any questions with Knowledge and happiness! Let me tell you I’ve been to plenty restaurants where you walk up and the hostess is so friendly and it makes it such a horrible experience off the bat, but not here the hostess was so friendly smiley and eager to make our experience a good first experience ! We definitely will be back and back with a group of friends for sure !!!
We had brunch and it was delicious. Nicole was our server and was great at pacing out the meal (yeah, we shared a peach cobbler waffles as an appetizer). Other reviews says it’s noisy (lively) but they were very accommodating of placing us in a quiet booth. Noise level was fine for us. Pro-tip: make a reservation.
The best part is the service is amazing and we were seated at the bar during to the rush, and loved the time spent there. The first picture ours of my bar tender and he knows to get your love drinks. The other bar tenders are all amazing and know what they are making and we had some great drinks. We asked for a few variations of cocktails and it was all made well. The downside is the wait times and Orange County being Orange County this is expected. This is a very happening and loud place so if you are looking for a peaceful dinner this is not your place.
Came here to celebrate. I wanted something good but light before my night. Walked around and remembered I’ve been wanting to try this place. Good food, great music, good ambience and service. Our server was very attentive and checked on us several times. My drink was amazing. The wine was very good also. The salmon was delicious. My burger was also bomb. Great place for a cute date 💐💙 We walked out I was overjoyed then by the time we were by Urth cafe I remembered I forgot my vape. I ran back and I noticed one of the servers had my vape in had in front of him and said it’s right here 💯 We all laughed. Good times 👍🏽
I love BossCat. I went there for brunch, which was amazing. Decided to go for dinner, and wasn't disappointed. Nick, the on-site manager, was great and even packed my items for me afterward. Justine, our waitress, was the best, and it was busy, but she was still on top of it. Nothing but good vibes and good food. Would recommend it for sure. Take a look. I had the pig candy, literally melted in my mouth, and when paired with the kimchi :). Also had the sugar barrel steak with added garlic shimp....best steak I have had in orange county and cooked to perfection, along with Cajun brick chicken... beautiful. All the flavors were there, and even the bosscat fries were good. So go check the place out, it's not usually too busy if you go after 6 pm.
Loved the service here. Our server was really helpful. I really appreciated the fact that they kept some of the history that comes with this place. The food and drinks were delicious. I had a pineapple sage elixir, it hit the spot. Sweet but not too sweet and very refreshing. We shared the 12 hour beef short rib (many other tables ordered this) and the portobello mushroom "fries" they were so good. The short Rib comes on a bed of potatoes that was so tasty. I'm not a big fan of green beans but it was still good. Even the restrooms are nice and definitely clean. We will have to come back and try a other items such as the local favorites. We came without the kiddos, I would recommend you do the same. As with anything in the Orange Circle parking is tricky but we were able to find one.
6 Stars. I loved everything about this place. The atmosphere, menu, employees, but the food was fantastic, creative, and made in the kitchen from scratch...even the desserts and whip cream. The alcoholic drinks were very good and very creative. This restaurant does not skimp on any detail or expense (or imagination). They are a quality restaurant with a Southern Flair. The customer base is higher echelon so of course the menu is frustrated as well. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!
Had a wonderful time celebrating my Bridal Shower at Bosscat! 🥳 The staff is great to work with! Everyone from Casey, the Private Events Manager to Charisse, who took care of our party, were wonderful. We look forward to dining-in and celebrating at Bosscat again. 😁
Really impressed by the vibe and kindness of the staff here. Food and drinks were top notch. Can’t say enough good things about this spot. The owner even comped our meal because it took so long as they were short staffed that day due to it being Valentine’s Day. We all really appreciated the gesture and will definitely be back!
Came here for brunch with a friend. The place is always busy, with a great atmosphere. The servers are friendly and awesome. We enjoyed the food, but the drink we ordered, 'Because Adulting is Hard' was truly amazing! It is an iced coffee drink with bourbon and a bourbon whipped cream topping. I tried the whipped cream, delicious. Mixed the whipped cream into the coffee- AMAZING! I would like to go back, just for that coffee! As usual, Bosscat did not disappoint!
We had reservations at Bosscat but needed to change them at the last minute. The hostess was super helpful and friendly. The service was terrific, and one of the owners even went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Great experience! Thank you, Bosscat!
Great quality food at incredible prices. The service was very good Hailey was friendly and professional. This was my third time placing an order with her, and since my first visit, she has always made us feel comfortable and truly welcomed.
From the moment entering the restaurant it was a 10 star. Scarlett was such a gracious hostess. Sat us at a table that was perfect... Carly was the best server, knowledgeable and helpful for drinks ideas. Robin made sure that everything was perfect. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you!
INCREDIBLE. My husband and I came here with our friends today 10/22/25 on a whim after having to reschedule our friend’s Birthday reservation at another place around the corner. I am THRILLED that we did. Our server’s name was Natalie. Icon. The best there is, was, or ever will be. She was so kind and so attentive and I am very glad we met her. Walked us through the drinks and menu like it was nothing. First we had the Country Bread, that I will now think about every time I have a roll anywhere forever, because nothing compares. Then we had the nachos which were also great. As for drinks, I can only speak on The Bosslady and Poor Decisions, both of which I very much enjoyed. For the main course we had a variety. My one friend ordered the Bosscat Burger the “chef’s way” and by the time Natalie checked in on us to see that we liked everything, he had cleaned his plate. I’m talking like a ten-minute or less window! I’m going to have to go back just to try it for myself. I got the Mac and Cheese that Natalie so kindly and correctly encouraged me to add bacon to and it was SO GOOD. To top everything off they brought out a little dessert for the Birthday, sparkler and all. Thanks to the good and the service, I have every intention of returning at my earliest opportunity. Thank you all for a wonderful meal.
From the moment I walked into Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere was electric and authentic yet effortlessly cool, with an energy that made me feel right at home. The service was absolutely top-notch; every staff member went above and beyond, making the entire experience seamless and fun. Now, let’s talk about the food, specifically the Sugar Barrel Steak. One bite, and my taste buds were tingling with happiness. Perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and paired with sides that complemented every note. It was the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate it. This isn’t just dinner… it’s an experience. I can’t recommend Bosscat Kitchen & Libations enough. And even if there’s a wait, trust me… it’s worth every second.
Food and service is great here. From the start we were greeted so nicely by Monica at the host stand. She offered us a table on the patio, where Michelle was our server. She was super attentive, and suggested some great menu items. She checked on us regularly and made us feel super welcomed. Some of my favorite food here is the crispy chicken salad and the spinach and artichoke eggrolls.
We were here for lunch because we were attracted by the photos we saw in the reviews, both burgers and pancakes looked great! When we arrived we were greeted by the very attentive and very kind staff, when we ordered we were supported and the result was super satisfactory! my pancakes were incredible, i came from italy and this was my first meal in the USA and i all i wanted to try first were pancake, i couldn’t desire better ones😍 also the burgers were delicious, not to mention the incredible fries. we recommend this super place!
Nice lively place to hang out, eat and drink. If you like pork belly, I recommend Pig Candy which has a delicious sauce and served with kimchi. It's mainly a whiskey bar and I had the Pour Decisions drink made with Roku gin, delish!! For dinner I ordered the short rib, very tender and tasty.
Another great late night chow with good libations!!! Believe the great reviews and close to 5 star reviews. That pork belly with kimchi appetizer is amazing. Perfect flavor and combination. The baked chicken with fried skin dish is spot on. Great with the wild rice. Chicken was moist and skin being crispy. 24 hour short rib is the perfect comfort food. Make sure you make dessert- fried apple pie!!! Our server - Charisse is totally amazing. Great vibe!!! Lots of ample street parking.
This restaurant is undeniable awesome! From the great vibe to the ambiance to the food to our cocktails to the service! I came for my brothers surprise birthday party 🥳! The patio was reserved for our celebration. Our server made sure we had everything. We didn’t need to ask her for anything. The food was truly delicious as well as our cocktails 🍹. This is a great place to watch sports! There was great music playing in the background. Not loud, Which is great. We didn’t have to shout at each other 😀. TV’s are places throughout the restaurant. There is a private room great for group events to reserve. There is street parking as well as the parking lot across the street. It appears fur babies are welcome on the patio. This is a trendy crow atmosphere. Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes I would! Come and experience this wonderful restaurant!
I've watched this place since it was under construction, and it took me all the way until tonight to try it. I TOTALLY regret waiting this long. Long story short: Everything was perfect. Every menu item, the drink selection, the service... outstanding. Long story long: We made a reservation through Google Maps (OpenTable) which was super easy. Showed up and they had a table ready for us. We asked for a booth, and the hostess said she could get us a booth/chair table by the bar since they had reservations for bigger parties. Great that they were willing to accommodate. Tony, the bartender, was our server and he was on the ball—super friendly and professional. A real people's person. We had some cocktails, whiskey, and the Spicy Chicken & Cheese Dip to start. Everything was amazing. I could eat that dip with those fresh-fried potato chips every day for a month and not be tired of it. For our entrées, we had the Cajun Brick Chicken, 12 Hour Beef Short Rib, and Sugar Barrel Steak. All three of us tasted each other's dishes, and everything was immaculate for every one of our palates. It's a very concise menu in the best way possible. The kitchen clearly isn't rushing around trying to make too many different things. Everything was clearly made with focus and care, especially considering how reasonable the time was for the dishes to come out once we ordered them. We didn't need desert, but the icing on the cake of this visit was that Tony, our server, was such a nice and professional guy. When I wanted to order some whiskey, he knew exactly which questions to ask to get me the what I wanted, and when I inquired further he even brought the bottle out to me to show me the label and let me know more about it. Props to Tony.
First time here and well worth it!!! We had the grilled chicken burger, pulled pork sandwich, citrus salad, and potato wedge cut fries! All of it was delicious.... We're definitely coming back next time around, and we live an hour away. So that's saying a lot for this place! The ambiance and lighting is super cool, and the library room is bomb! They even have a cool private dining room for party of 12+ And the bonus was their nice size patio seating area which accommodates and friendly to our doggies too! Big thumbs up from us!!!
The atmosphere was great and the service was solid. The food, however, felt overpriced for what was offered, and charging extra for in-house ketchup was a bit off-putting. I wouldn’t recommend bringing children, when we came for dinner it was quite loud. That said, they do have a decent drink menu and both indoor and outdoor seating. Like most places around the circle, parking requires a short walk.
Came here for some drinks and apps. The drinks were all good! The service was good! I think the food was mediocre for the price. With haven right next door they gotta step up their appetizer game. Everything we had just tasted like fryer oil. Definitely need to be changing it more often it seemed like. Overall I'd go back for drinks and give them a chance with the entrees
Looooooves them Korean sliders. Get the bread. Get the apple pie dessert. Get the beignets and dip them in the crème brûlée. Jones.🤤 they used to design houses. It’s really cute charming
Big fan of their brunch, especially on a weekend because Snooze and Urth Cafe are usually packed. Decent prices for brunch. Recommend their chilaquiles - the sauce is incredible. Not the biggest fan of dinner menu, and it's a bit overpriced, but the prices generally match the vibe. Decor is really cool, especially the relics from Rods liquor
When you ask the waiter: "What's the seasonal cider on the menu?" ... And he responds "Oh it's an apple one, fermented with apples." 🤦🤣 Kinda set the tone for the visit because he avoided us for the rest of the night. However food was excellent. Short ribs, shrimp and grits and the bread were huge hits with our table.
Great little place in a busy downtown. We were there on a holiday so it wasnt their usual operations, they were only serving brunch menu at the time. The food offerings were unique and sounded cool. I had the pulled pork Benedict with spicy fried chicken sauce and it was filling, but didn't have a lot of flavor as expected. Their old fashioned was the standard and tasted good. Going to try them again for their regular menu. Servers were nice and answered our questions about dishes and drinks.
Similar to it’s sister restaurant in Newport Beach, the design and ambiance of this one is much better as they took over an old liquor store and left a lot of the unique design elements and a large patio. Given it’s a relatively new opening the service is still a little rusty and food beverage slightly above average. Definitely a fun addition to the circle.
Came here for dinner and that 32 hour roast was so good! This was one delicious meal, also ordered a mushroom fries appetizer. Which was delicious , just wasn’t into the happy hour old fashion drink, for the price I should’ve known. That was my mistake. I definitely recommend this place !

We were there for a private event. We were served several different appetizers. The grilled shrimp and meatballs were delicious. The drinks were also delightful. Our server was engaging and managed the large party with ease. The atmosphere was fun with a mixed crowd. Couples and groups of friends.
Came in for brunch, didn't know what to expect because there not a lot of breakfast reviews, took a chance and was delighted! I had the shrimp and cajun grits. Not a lot of cheese but generous on the seasoning, also, the bread that came with the dish was a great compliment. I also had the dream mimosa, it was ok but I didn't care for the cucumber wheels in the drink. My son had the Monte Cristo. He said it was good but outside was over fried/too crispy and the bread on the inside was a little doughy. I'm not sure of how a Monte Cristo is supposed to be cooked, but he said it did taste good.
It was my first time here after a friend suggested this restaurant. We sat inside as it'll get hot around noon. The restaurant has the old farm house feel to it (loved it). The food was good, I didn't order any drinks but my friends did and they liked it. The waitress was very attentive, came by several times to check on us and refill our water jug. The only downside was that it's a busy part of the block (many restaurants and cafes in the area) so the parking was not easy to find especially in the peak hours.
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants for dinner/drinks with friends. The staff is always friendly and have great recommendations. The short rib anything is always my go to food item. However, tonight we had just ordered another round of drinks and fries and we were asked to leave because they needed the table for other guests. We had been there for 2.5 hours catching up and we thought it was a reasonable ask so my group and I left to Urth's Cafe to finish our conversation. When we walked back (30 mins later) our table was still empty! Clearly, they just wanted us out of the restaurant. We weren't even being loud or obnoxious. Sadly, they've just lost my business. Best of luck filling up all your tables!
Good Vibe, But Service Soured the Meal The ambiance at Bosscat is fantastic, and the food was genuinely good. I was really impressed when I first walked in and was looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by a bizarre service issue. My burger was accidentally cut in half in the kitchen, and when it was served, the staff's way of handling it was incredibly poor. Instead of a simple apology, the question "Will you be okay with it?" was delivered in a condescending tone, as if speaking to a child. It wasn't about the burger being cut—it was the dismissive and unprofessional attitude that followed. It's a shame, because the kitchen and decor are great, but that interaction left a bad taste. It had 5-star potential, but the service brought it down.
Good: Decor/ambiance PBJ Beignets Meh: Service up front (hostess area)(on this day)? Parking Well let me get this up front service/hostess situation out of the way first. My wife and I came Sunday before Halloween around brunch time, about 12 pm. The place looked sparsely seated with couples and a couple of groups. I would say 25% capacity, including inside and outside seating. As we went up to the hostess, we were told it would be a 5-10 min wait (which is fine). However, as we sat it seemed like other walk-ins had been getting seated right away. My wife, perturbed, wondered what was going on. I stated she they probably had reservations, so thought nothing of it. After about 20-25 mm in of waiting and watching other walk-ins get seated I was a bit perturbed myself. My wife at this point, 7 months pregnant and VERY hungry finally went up to the front and asked when we were going to get seated because we've been watching others getting seated for the past 25 min while the restaurant was only 25% full. Long story short we got seated, immediately without explanation. I've been to the Irvine/Newport Beach location a couple of times and this has never happened. Like I've stated earlier, the place is fairly big with inside and outside dining, a full bar, and tv's galore! I'm sure it's a lively place on the weekends! The food wasn't half bad either. But the star's here are the Beignets and the drinks for me. It has enough room for strollers and lots of potential. Maybe this was an off day or something, because I'd like to return to grab a couple of drinks and hang again.
The food was really good! The main thing is we felt rushed out after about an hour and 15 minutes of being there. The hostess came to our table to say the table is reserved in 10 minutes.. (so basically get out lol!) I understand Friday nights are busy, but if that’s something they usually do, it would be nice to have a sign or mention there is a time limit to dining.
Food is good with great presentation. But the coffee was blah- tasted like it was watered down. Kale salad could be better if there was more of the shredded cheese, tomatoes were yummy sweet. Cinnamon was delicious. The shredded pork tasted good though the poached egg were too well cooked.
You guys used to have the BEST mustard salmon with succotash. It’s since been replaced with a sorry excuse for a dish that I would expect at Bosscat. The mustard salmon was wonderful, complex, and overall a fun dish. The replacement is a basic crusted salmon with a tomato confit (only 3 roasted tomatos) and garlic green beans. What a boring dish. The mustard salmon is a dish I cannot find anywhere else, let alone to the GREAT degree it had. Please please please bring it back :( That was the only reason I came here. It will be missed
I came in exclusively for the brussel sprouts. A coworker had hyped them up so much, and I love Brussel sprouts so I just had to try them. The biggest disappointment was that they where reheated Brussel sprouts from god knows when.. I try them everywhere I go, so I know my sprouts. The flavor was good but it was obvious they where reheated.. (forgot to take a picture) biggest disappointment. They would have been perfect had they been freshly cooked. The second thing, totally on me for not saying anything, was that there where three short black hairs on the appetizer plate that where brought out. I thought the plate was cracked but nope, short black hairs. No problem right? I just didn't use it. The problem was when I ordered the berry salad and half was though eating it and guess what? Short black hair... Also, the ranch butter on the country rolls had the taste of fridge, like the container wasn't closed and was just put in the fridge for a while and it absorbed the fridge taste. The server was amazing though, she was so sweet and attentive. It was a hot day and she refilled my water cup as soon as it was close to empty. I didn't tell her any of this because I'm honestly just not going back. The whole experience was just terrible.
This gentleman who is at the front was extremely disrespectful to our family. We walked in to have a seat at the bar, unaware there was a private event. The man at the front aggressively grabbed and pushed my sister in law out. He then proceeded to flip her off. Truly a disappointing event considering we're locals who love to pop in here often. Food is decent, bartenders are always amazing, and the hosts are usually really pleasant.
Very disappointed with our experience. There was a cockroach crawling on the floor around our table. We notified the waitress and she was very unconcerned, stating it could have been from a trash can outside. She said should would let someone know, but nobody came to provide an update or apology. Nothing from our meal was comped, and the waitress did not apologize for this. Will never return.
My chilaquiles were cold. I told the waiter and he removed my plate before I could say anything else. He did bring out another hot plate, but I don't want it at that point since my wife and I shared her meal. Ended up just feeling rushed for an overpriced meal, which is a shame given how good Bosscat in Irvine is; I've scheduled several business meals there before and have always gotten excellent food and service. Don't plan to return to the Orange branch, and you shouldn't give it a shot either, go to Snooze or Urth instead.
