Gnarley Barley is a popular brewery known for its excellent beer selection, friendly staff (especially Zac and Jarred), and fun atmosphere. The Jucifer IPA is a standout favorite. It's kid and dog-friendly, with live music and games.
Tip: BYO food or order from across the street. Check if the kitchen is open, as it has limited hours.
Update: still an awesome place. Great beers and now with food across the street! Highly recommend stopping any chance you get. Original: Cool place with a nice vibe. Super friendly service and a good selection of interesting beers. I particularly like the hazy/New England IPAs. Note the taproom area is wide open to the manufacturing area but this is pretty typical for craft beer places. It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through the Hammond area. Next time I will spend more time and check out the beer garden that I missed.
Enjoyed this brewery. The brewery side had nice merch for sale, some NA drink options, snacks and a good beer choice. I went with a couple flights and then some single drinks. across the street is a large seating area and restaurant. I had a burger and fries and they were yummy. They have some games on site to play...corn hole, Trouble, Sorry, etc. We enjoyed using it as a kid was with us. The only disappointment was the band canceled. I was hoping to check out some local musicians. I plan to visit again. They even had Easter bunny photos for kids. They were very expensive but still was neat.
Haven’t seen a truck driver review here it is. If you are delivering you can either park across the street in the empty parking lot or at the pilot which is 1.9 miles away. You will have to back in no unloading docks but these guys get the job done fast I have no complaints and they do it with no doc and move fast. Would deliver here anytime.
One of our favorite breweries. Their Korova Porter with peanut butter is one of my favorite beers! They only can it in the fall/ winter and when they do I buy as much as I can to last me until the next fall. My husband has tried hundreds of IPAs and Jucifer remains his favorite! They have added an outside covered area with picnic tables. The taproom is big and nice but it does not have a/c so if you go in the summer heat be prepared to sweat, however, they do have large fans that help. We love that they allow dogs in the taproom. They also have food trucks on the weekend. The last time we were there we ate at Fat Jose's Taco truck.
Great atmosphere. Inviting and easy to enjoy. The beer is fantastic every time we come. The merch is also great and pretty reasonably priced. It's a must stop whenever we're in town.
Great selection of beers. I highly recommend trying the barrel-aged wee heavy, barleywine, or quad. Very complex flavors, but be careful - these are quite high in alcohol. Friendly bartender and nice location (in the brewery). Can't wait for the kitchen to open!
Didn't spend time inside the main bar area. I attended a Queer North shore Meetup event and we hung out across the street. I believe that is where the food area is. I was there on a Wednesday evening and the kitchen isn't open Monday through Wednesday. I can't comment on the food. I geeked out over the knockers on the men's and women's restrooms. FROM THE LABYRINTH 😍😍. Nice touch lol. The bartenders were nice and courteous. If you get a glass at the main bar, you have to put a lid on it while you walk over to the food area. Nice atmosphere.
Long-time fan, first time visitor. There's seating inside with the beer vats for 30 or 40 but a lot more outside. Cans and awesome looking merch for sale. The pièce de résistance was the extensive range of draft ales: fan-favorites (Catahoula Common) and seasonals (Bad Abbot & Wee Heavy). Great atmosphere, we watched the game a little and I was very thankful!
Gnarley Barley is a spunky electrified style brewery in the Tangipahoa Parish on the outskirts of Hammond near Ponchatoula. Jarred Smith is a rock star who manages the place and all staff are welcoming and relaxed. Its a warehouse style building with open taps and closed cans for orders. Crawfish during season on weekends, a kitchen to order food, Family and pet friendly. *Their beer options are plentiful and don't disappoint* For additional info I found the About section on their site listed below and it's pretty much exactly on point: Established in 2014, Gnarly Barley Brewing is located in a 14,000 square foot facility in Hammond, Louisiana and consists of a two-vessel 30bbl Brewhouse, one hot and one cold liquor tank, a 1,220bbl cellar and a whole lot of passion for craft beer. An open air taproom, known as the Gnar Bar, located within the facility allows guests to view the brewery’s inner workings. With the growth of Gnarly Barley, a passionate and dedicated staff have been added to the team.
Delicious Beer. Juicifer is Amazing. Friendly Staff. Owner Zac is Kind, Friendly, Knowledgeable, Entertaining. Dog Friendly. Bike Friendly. Phone Charging Station. Free Wifi. Lots of Bar Games. BYO Food. Overall A Must Visit!!!!
One of the coolest I've come across in the Southeast. Huge, ever-changing selection (plus mainstays that could still be your favorite). Room for groups and families. Excellent prices for to-go for the quality of the beer. Would gladly return!
Great place to eat lunch or dinner with your spouse if you’re looking for something different. Order you a cajun burger and go across the street and get a fresh brewed Gnarley beer.!
Enjoyed an afternoon of live music and some beers. It's a nice experience.
Super customer service and suggestions. We did a flight of beers, and the Jucifer IPA was our favorite. Better on tap at the brewery than in the can at the store. Well worth a visit.

A nice relaxing atmosphere with beers you can only get from the brewery! We had a wonderful visit and will definitely be coming back.
Detailed oriented brewery. 5 star brewery in my opinion, with high class brews for many different palates. Ambers, IPA'S, ales and darks. Love the Jucifer, digging Cathoula Common, & the peanut butter/chocolate porter is AMAZING. Try it guys, you'll be glad that you did.
Some of the best beer anywhere. Great atmosphere, excellent people. Always putting on weekend events with catering and live music.
By far the best beer in the state of Louisiana. Abita and Dixie taste like flint water compared to these guys. Keep up the great work!
Great. I have always been impressed with this brewery because of one thing... Jucifer. Friendly atmosphere and they offer tours. Dog friendly.
Top notch people. Zac and his crew know what they're doing. They put out great products, they're active in the community and give back whenever they can. I wholeheartedly support this brewery.
Great beer, dedication, passion, and they love what they do. Love that they are local and best of all home brewed! Everyone should visit for a tasting.
Great beer and the new Food area is nice. Parking is plentiful. Go visit them.
Gnarly Barley patrons are extremely friendly and dedicated to the quality of beer provided and laid back environment; evident by all the frequent customers. They just keep coming back!
Love the passion this team puts into its community, people, and brewing. So proud for Gnarly Barley to invest in Hammond, America. Thanks Cari & Zac!
A great local/regional brewery with lots of tasty beer options. Gb's single-brew/experiment brews are often worth the visit.
One the best places to get in Hammond. Great atmosphere and employee's. They always have really great beer to chose from.
Great burger. Nice People. Cool atmosphere. Excellent Beer.
Great atmosphere, music and beer!
Love it, love their beer. Always great service and a cool place to hang out.
One of my favorite places. Truly outstanding staff and great beer. The environment is open and spotless
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly people good beer and great food
If you like beer you'd be a fool not to visit. Great atmosphere.
Great beer. Cute place! Friendly bartenders. Fun place to hang out.
First visit to the brewery. Music was great and brew is good. Great staff, reasonable prices.
Great beer. Friendly service. Food area can get a little crowded.
Great experience beer was cold people were fantastic I will be back. I am telling everyone about this place.
Great place, great beer selection and love music. Can't beat a local joint that does it right.
Happened to be there when announcing the bottled release of their Catahoula Commons. Food vendors were great! Try Tacos & Beer!!
AWESOME as always!!! Love that they are dog friendly! We had a blast! Taxi Sliders was delicious as usual too!
Zac and Cari need a vault to store all of their gnarly recipes, a way to ensure these treasures are never lost: ☕️Lumanati 🍻Fest Bier 🥜Peanut butter Korova Milk Porter 🫐🍋Tart Mart 🍦Rocky Road Stout 🍊Sunny G Pair with food from Dine Gnar across the street, and bring your dogs.
Yall gotta make Sunny G a staple. Its so good!
Amazing people, comfortable vibes, great beer! It left a lasting impression on our youngest who won’t stop asking when we’re going back💕 We love spending time at Gnarly Barley especially for their events.
Great local brewery and great food. Get something on tap or out of the case - you can’t go wrong!
Gnarly Barley is one of the, if not the, best breweries in LA! I don't think they've ever released a bad beer, and they're particularly great at IPAs and porters. Visiting is always great because the staff is very friendly and helpful, even the owners!
Every ale stout porter and barleywine was great (I didn't try the IPAs, but was told they were good as well. Takeout Huge space, outside seating and food across the street next to the sufficient parking lot. I met one of the owners, and he, as well as all the other staff, were very friendly.
Best place to hang and some really great beer. They always have fun events and always so welcoming of everyone. The staff is awesome and the guests are always cool.
We visited when spending time in Hammond back in November 2022 and I haven't stopped thinking about "Good Seed" since. Great atmosphere, amazing and friendly bartenders, and the brew tank names are hilarious.
The atmosphere is so nice and the people are even nicer. I love this place so much! Highly recommend it.
The mark of a great local brewery is a great representation at bars and restaurants around town. Abita does this very well, but Gnarly Barley does this one better. They're in almost every restaurant in Hammond on tap, or by the bottle. Friendly owners, and they employ a friend or two of mine. They have a great local presence, and a great product definitely an awesome company and brewery.
Bought a couple brews to bring back to our beer club in Lewiston, NY. They were a huge hit. We've tasted over 4000 and the GB Brewery was a real big hit. Wish I had bought more to bring home.
Rated #1 brewery in the country during 2020 from Beer Advocate , Gnarly Barley is a shining gem amongst the Louisiana swamp. Continuously brewing up new concoctions, they are a mainstay in the Louisiana brewery scene. No matter when you go, you will experience something new. Try the juicier or Catahoula common to start an then go down the rabbit hole that is the rest of their awesome beers. You won’t be disappointed.
Delicious beer. Gnarly Barley has created something amazing : Korova milk Porter. It deserves its own TikTok, Reality show and Spotlight by Elon Musk. We’ve tried many beers that claim to have a good chocolate / coffee milk flavor but they all tend to have something that is very off. But not this Porter. Just like the label says: a chocolatey Baltic oatmeal milk Porter with a smooth coffee finish. My husband is an IPA fan and I am decidedly not. We both agree that this beer is delicious. Today we drank it as a after workout recovery drink. Part drink and part breakfast. We have never visited the gnarly Barley brewing location but we hope to especially if they keep making this beer.
Tuesday is bingo night and it was a lot of fun. Had one of the non-alcoholic drinks and it was really good.
Food, beer and environment was awesome ! I was visiting from out of town and went with my brother and his family. Highly recommend. I went home with two of their cool merch shirts bc I loved the art.
The beer is delicious. The service is phenomenal. They have great products and the restaurant across the street is great too and the service there is also phenomenal.
When I go to a brewery, I very much enjoy being among the Brewing Process. You know, giant steel tanks and fancy gadgets and marvellous chemistry. This is one of those places, and I am looking forward to coming back as often as I can.
A must stop when coming to Hammond! Great atmosphere for kids, dogs, and adults. If you go, you must try the jucifer beer.
Great food and beer! Awesome space for kiddos to play. 10/10
Zac and Cari are true innovators! Gnarly Barley is the best beer and atmosphere around! Their events have great music, food, and people!
Friendly brewtenders, easy-going atmosphere and GREAT beer. The Stratosphere DIPA is one of the best I've ever had.
Awesome brewery with great beer! Zac is a really awesome guy who loves what he does and will break down the beer making process better than most. Korova Milk Porter is where its at and all of its variants. If you can get the Peanut Butter Korova which is the best version. Also the radical rye and catahoula common are delicious!
One of the best Craft beer bars in Florida. Food is always great and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Approved for beer snobs
This is the best local brewery around. Jucifer is my go to brew. Korova is killer and I have some in my fridge now. I'm a homebrewer and these are my 2 latest projects. Both came out good, but yours is way better. Catahoula common is my wife's fave. Every brew I've had I have thoroughly enjoyed. You guys are doing it right!
I randomly met one of the brewers-Joey-while I was out and about. We started started talking craft beer because I saw his Gnarly Barley shirt and next thing I know I'm drinking the Korova Porter he brewed...Awesome... If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend!
Fun place, nice people, great beer! Creative events that include kids and dogs. We always enjoy going to Hammond's Gnarly Barley.
Tried one of their beers in NOLA a while back, so decided it was worth a detour to check out the mother ship. Not disappointed. Got here too late for food from across the street (5:00 on Sunday), but I consoled myself with the excellent Korova Milk Porter and some wild GnarBar stickers.
One of the best places in this town and surrounding areas you can get a great beer with awesome decor. Love this place, one of the standout places I went to on my 7 day trip to Florida.
Off broadway Ghost In the Machine- Jucifer (6.0) and Double Jucifer (8.2). Support the competition contenders so when "Big Beer" destroys Parish Brewery via acquisition (if/when) there will be viable options still standing!!! The offerings that I sampled here were outstanding. Much better than Abita (by two alligator tails and a mile!)
Always love coming here. Great beer and atmosphere. Recommend this place, the owners are good people. Always worth a stop when in the area. Dine Gnar across the street is also worth checking out.
Really cool brewery with a great selection of tasty beers. Was great that you could get a beer and take it across the road to the food side at Dine Gnar, or order food and bring it over to the tap room side, which is what we did. They had some live music setting up, and just generally had a good vibe even on a rainy day.
Great beer with a lot of beers on tap. Super friendly staff.
One of our favorite breweries to visit, some of the best beer we’ve had and a down to earth environment that is welcoming to all.
This was our first visit to Gnarly Barley; we came for the Oktoberfest. It's a hopping place! Very clean, bathrooms and all! Food trucks were outside across the street. From what I understand, it's out there every weekend. We had a great time and will be back!
My husband and I got married in Ponchatoula but wanted to have a small event the day before our wedding so we could spend more time with our guests coming in from out of town and Gnarly Barley was the PERFECT spot for it! My father-in-law spoke with Jarred Smith and set up a tab so all of our guests there that night could just put drinks on it and everything went so smoothly. The drinks were fantastic and as someone who’s not usually a beer person, I was so impressed with the options and really felt like there was something perfect for everyone. For people who might not be big into beer, I highly recommend the mango margarita gose, the good seed, and the cherry bounce! They also had a band playing, fans running so everyone could stay cool in the middle of June, and the energy in the place was so relaxed and fun. Great people, great place!
this place is so cool it makes me wanna do a backflip
I've always enjoyed my time at Gnarly Barley. The beer has always been good! The times I've been the atmosphere has been welcoming. They allow dogs and children. So, you can bring the whole family! I enjoy bringing my dog as well. They usually have a few special releases and a band on several weekends. It's a good way to spend some time around Hammond!
Best beers in the area, possibly the best IPA ever made in the history of beer production. cool tin roof that makes nice noises when it rains, and nachos are SPEKKY (spectacular).
Best brewery around. Great beer and food. Fun atmosphere. Kid and dog friendly.
Visited for the first time last night for the podcast event. Wasnt too crowded and there was a man working that did his best to get everyone a chair. The strawberry beer was SO good. We walked across the street and ordered some food. The nachos were seriously some of the best I've ever eaten. Onion rings were fried to perfection. The bartenders and kitchen staff were very friendly and efficient. The music was awesome. Was it a dirty dancing sountrack?!? Whatever it was, my friend and I loved singing along! I drove an hour to get there and will for sure make that trip again in the future.
Delicious food & beers in a family -friendly venue Super cute, clean area for dining outdoors and inside. Nice area for pets! We got a mushroom burger and the clucker chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and nice sized portions. Onion rings were tasty with more of a soft batter. You do have to cross the street for beer but it was not a problem on a Saturday lunch. We will be back!
Always has something i like and I'm very picky lol. Lots of outside sitting areas and nice and roomy inside. They do have lots of great bands come thro. Everyone is nice and ready to help you find a drink you love.

Nice open air brewery with plenty of seating, small stage area, free brewery tour, and really good beer. *Update in response to owners question* Parking is limited, I know you've closed on the lot across the street and am looking forward to seeing your plans for expansion in the future. Congratulations on your growth in the community and market!

This us a great brewery. The choices plentiful. The staff is very knowledgeable & friendly. Great atmosphere, has outdoor seating. Plus music on weekends. Stop by & you will enjoy
Good beer, music, and food on the weekends. My brother requires a case of Jucifer whenever I visit him in Atlanta. 5/15 Update: My brother and friend came in town and this was a must-stop on a busy day. Enjoyed the beers as usual.
It has changed a lot over the year's and has expanded I to something I originally thought not possible. There is a full bar and food court now, along with it's many game's to play. They are constantly creating new beers and other alcoholic beverages. Edit: In Hammond, Louisiana. I've never been to the one in Florida nor did I know there was one there.
Beer was great people are great. Food truck at October festival needs to get better, waited hour for food never got order did get refunded but just disappointed how hard is it to make fried pork chop. Saw one two small strips and small scoop of side for ten dollars. Step up your game.
Good beer! Bad morals! Actively promotes Drag shows. Wouldn’t surprise me if they believe there are more than two genders. Throw them in the same trash bin as Anheuser-Bush.
I see all the great reviews. I would love to leave one too, but when me and the wife decided to try them for lunch, we were not feeling very welcomed. Went into the bar and the employees in there ignored us, we went across the street to dine and again was left standing , no service, menus just tossed on the counter. After 5 min we decided to spend our money where we felt appreciated.
