The food was fantastic as was the service. We enjoyed the halibut, tomatoe bisk soup, burger and 2 glasses of wine which was pino Grigio from Italy. It was a really nice house white wine, not too sweet and a crisp apple taste. The portions of food was large and cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and no complaints.
This was our first time there. Lovely place. We sat on the patio. Everyone was super friendly save our server (M) who seemed rushed and non-friendly to the point that we felt uncomfortable. The halibut was delicious. The wine list was excellent. We will go back.
Nice spot, the service was excellent, Steve my waiter did a great job. I had the lamb shank, it was great but fell shy of defying reality 8.7/10. I don't mean to be a hard case, but I've experienced lamb that was darn near psychedelic. It was really good, and I would recommend it, just don't expect to see colors. For dessert I had a brownie; I've eaten a thousand brownies in my life, this brownie was perhaps the best brownie I've had, 12/10. I couldn't believe it, it was next level. I would go back just for the brownie.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. They have a good selection of drinks and a great variety of starters. We enjoyed our food. It had great taste and presentation. We will definitely go back.
I’ve been coming here for years and have loved every single experience! I celebrated my birthday with family and dinner was perfect. The crème brûlée has been and still is my favorite dish, and Justine was a fabulous server!! Love, love, love!
Stopped by Ironwood for dinner and was blown away by the flavors coming out of this place. I got the short rib special with polenta and roasted root vegetables... unbelievably tender and bursting with flavor. The wife got the schnitzel accompanyed with pumpkin spatzle...also incredible on all counts. The plates were returned to the kitchen as clean as they were before they plated...it really was that good. The service was on point, very knowledgeable on all the offerings and I honestly can't wait to go back. My only note would be the sheer amount of people on the inside seemed a little too crowded for the times, but we sat outside under the tent and it was spread out and absolutely lovely.
They were on a wait list at 5:30. Busy is good- they are doing something right. We decided to sit at the bar and have dinner. The service(JACOB) was excellent and the food was amazing. This is a little diamond in the rough we will definitely be back. Fried green tomato appetizer, shared ribeye and a bottle of champagne under $100.
4/18/23, This was the 1st time for a good friend and I to visit Ironwood. We get together monthly for drinks and fine dining and we'd had a single malt scotch sampling at my place prior (18, 20 & 22 yr old) I've lived in mission viejo for 6 years and recently started expanding my dining options. This will become a new regular for dining. We both got the Rib Eye medium rare (it was a little closer to warm center rare but not enough to send it back) one bite and we were hooked. It was a nicely marbled, very...VERY flavorful and tender cut. Did I mention that it was a large steak? (View picture) We also got the smashed fingerling potatoes(exceptionally tasty, crispy outside and creamy inside and seasoned perfectly... they're like the best potato skins you've ever had... smashed!), the steamed vegetables kept up with great taste, aldente and nicely seasoned also the spaetzle. I look forward to sampling other options on the menu and expect to be equally pleased. I see why this cosy (but not cramped) restaurant has a 4.7 rating, which got my attention. BTW, the portions are very generous. Usually people take pics of their plate but you can't really gauge size... so mine gives my extra large hand for perspective. I hope you have as filling of an experience as we did. Best regards and happy eating. UPDATE: 6/18/2023. Since my first review I have returned three more times and found the food, the service and the atmosphere still equal to my original review... However, there now seems to be the need for me to add a caveat about the change in their food selection. On my 4th trip, last evening, I took my brother so that both of us could celebrate Father's Day with, of course, the ribeye steak... only to find it is no longer on the menu!!! It was "Available as a Chef's Choice" for the evening... however, I was informed that they will no longer offer the ribeye... sometime in the near future. Considering how many rave 5 star reviews this dish has received it's a puzzlement a to why they'd Sabotage future business and alienate existing customers. I'll be returning, but calling first to verify menu options. BTW, I reduced my 5 star service rating to reflect the restaurant menu change(wait staff is excellent: 5 stars) 3/8 YEA!!! RIBEYE IS BACK A dinner destination..
My fiancee and I saw all the rave reviews so we decided to check ironwood out. The restaurant is in a normal shipping center layout which doesn't give you much hope initially. However as soon as you walk in you feel as if your y in a different place. The staff is very attentive and on top of every aspect of their job. The food: We started with the duck legs. Crispy, sweet, tangy absolutely delicious. Will definitely order again. We then ordered the cheese plate @23-24$. The portion amounts on the cheese plate we great and their was a wonderful mix of cheese, dates, raisins, candied walnuts, cured meats etc. A great value We seemed to stick to starters this time here so we then moved on to the fried green tomato and burrata which was one of my favorite things we ended up ordering. The flavor combination was great. Lastly my fiancee ordered the oyster starter. I'm not huge on oysters but I slid a few down to appease here and they were quite delicious. Overall we really liked our experience here and will definitely be back.
Impeccable service, I couldn’t ask for anything more. My cup was never below half filled. Food was amazing, I got the ribeye and wife got the meatball. We were there celebrating our anniversary. Nice atmosphere and even better service. Did I mention the food was amazing? Our waiter Maddie was also incredible. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great service and even better food! We will be back!
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is awesome. The staff are friendly, you can see the bar, the chefs and the dining room right as you walk in. Everything is clean. Upscale but not uptight. I saw someone in flip flops and a tee shirt but most people were dressed nicer. Drink menu amazing, food menu Oh'so good. Come try this place!
The dishes are very delicious, we asked for medium-rare and we got the perfect medium-rare. The prices are okay, not too expensive. We ordered The 45 days old whatever beef steak, the steak is flawless very big and tasty, but the smash potato are not really my favourite because I could feel a very strong cheese flavour which is good but it too strong. The deserts is perfect.
Stopped here based on reviews and was not disappointed. Had the flat iron steak which was one of their specials that day and it was cooked as ordered, which rarely happens. The sea bass fish was cooked perfectly and not over done, and the brownie for dessert was amazing. Will come back again when in the area
We made reservations on a Friday night and it was worth it! The staff is friendly and attentive. Everything was delicious and you can tell that it is made with fresh ingredients. They even have a little garden outside for their herbs. Hands down the best artisan burger and fries and the salmon was cooked to perfection. I'm not a drinker but was happy to see there was a signature mocktail on the menu that was delicious too. We will be back and highly recommend Ironwood!!
1/10/2026 What an amazing evening and dining experience at Ironwood this evening. We had reservations for 5:15 pm and arrived about 10 minutes early. The welcoming and friendly hostess asked Taylor to take us to a cozy booth in a very nice section of the restaurant. Touraj the GM is so amazing as is all of the staff members he oversees and you can feel the love and family team approach which is a blessing. Ashley was our amazing server with a smile, professionalism and kindness that lights up the room. Max assisted Ashley with our dining experience and was also stellar in every aspect of food delivery, requests and service. We started with the amazing sweet potato soup which was breathtakingly delicious. We also ordered their bread and butter and it's freshly baked and oh so tasty. For our entrees my wife ordered the Sea Bass entree and I had the chef's special 9 oz filet mignon entree. Both dishes were well prepared, presented and extremely delicious. Once again if you have not dined at Ironwood Cellars in Laguna Hills you are missing out. Stop in and see Touraj who is one of the most genuine and authentic professionals in the restaurant field we have had the pleasure of meeting. Ask to sit in Ashley's section with Max as her service team. The service, food, ambiance and people are fantastic and 5 plus stars every time we have been here. Highly recommended. 11/21/2025 What an amazing evening at Ironwood in Laguna Hills. We had reservations for 5 p.m. and were greeted by the gracious host and also Art our amazing server. The ambiance and cozy feeling of the restaurant set the tone for a lovely dining experience. We had the pleasure of visiting with Touraj, the General Manager, who is a gracious and kind individual and we chatted about family, holidays and his amazing daughters which light up his face with joy. Touraj is the ultimate gentleman and professional and we truly enjoy his grace and authentic approach to managing the restaurant. This can be witnessed in the joy his staff extends to customers. We had the pleasure of having Art, our amazing server assisted by Steve, Max, Dajana and Mario. They were all wonderful. We are celebrating our anniversary month and we were brought a wonderful appetizer, the agnolotti, which was stuffed with sweet potato and it was fantastic. Thank you Touraj!!! Next we ordered the entrees and my wife had the Halibut entree and I had the filet mignon entree. The food came out of the kitchen hot and tasty. True perfection and our compliments to the chef! 👏. Art also stopped by and made sure that the entrees were to our satisfaction. Thanks to Touraj, Art, Steve, Dajana, Mario and Max for their amazing service and joyful demeanor. To top it all Art brought our a celebratory dessert for our anniversary which was so thoughtful and beautiful as well as delicious. Highly recommended. 4/24/2024 What an amazing dining experience this evening at Ironwood Cellars in Laguna Hills. We had reservations for 6pm and, upon arrival, were greeted by Touraj, the wonderful manager, Savanah, the fantastic hostess, Johnny and Art, two amazing servers, and most importantly all fantastic, loving people. The staff here at Ironwood are phenomenal. The addition of Touraj as the GM was the best thing this establishment could have done as he is a genuinely, loving man with the gift of professionalism and customer service besides his humble approach to providing a well run and synchronized dining experience. Johnny was our server assisted by Miguel, another stellar individual. Touraj stopped by our table, and we visited and shared some hospitality, and he offered to bring us an appetizer to try, which was more than kind. I highly recommend this amazing dining establishment. Ask for Touraj.
Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines. Fast service. Great atmosphere with the lighting and background music.
This place knocked it out of the park on every metric. The ambiance was incredible, the food was delicious, the portions were huge, and the service was amazing. Came on our anniversary and they provided complimentary champagne and dessert. The highlight was definitely the food, presented beautifully and made with high quality ingredients. Highly recommended for any celebration or date night, you will not be disappointed.
We visited on our anniversary, our server Arturo was excellent and made the experience perfect. Meals were cooked properly and the drinks well made. We had an early dinner so not to crowded. Slightly pricey but worth it.
We went here for a Valentine's Dinner and it did not disappoint. Good cocktails and great food. The portions are a good size for appetizers and mains so make sure you arrive hungry!
Great experience. Food was good, the service was outstanding. Our server was amazing!
Ironwood in Laguna Hills delivers a consistently delightful dining experience. warm welcoming staff; a creative and satisfying menu; and dishes that are both comforting and thoughtfully prepared. Whether you're starting with creamy burrata and warm artisan bread, diving into the expertly crisp chicken schnitzel, or savoring a beautifully cooked fish entrée, you'll likely be as impressed as many locals are. All of this comes at a reasonable price point, making it a superb choice for everyday indulgence or special occasions alike.
Excellent service and my complaints to the chef! Everything was fantastic I highly recommend the halibut and the lazy days Margarita. amazing ambience. All around a great experience.
We had a nice anniversary dinner. The food was great; we had the halibut and the salmon. I enjoyed my view of the Santa Ana Mountains and the smooth jazz background music. The service was great (restaurant wasn’t crowded) up until we finished our desert and were ready to leave, then there was a bit of a delay.
My fiancé and I ate here for the first time on a busy Valentine's Day night, and this nice place still accommodated a table for us even without a reservation. I could tell that the service here was above and beyond within the first 5 minutes of being here. We were seated at a very nice table outside, and Touraj, the manager, put a heater next to us and gave my two-year-old daughter and I a blanket since it was a chilly night. Everyone was so friendly and nice and made us feel totally welcome, even though I felt underdressed (my fiancés fault) and without any reservations (also my fiancés fault), and the staff still made us feel like we were VIPs. We got the bread and honey butter as a starter, and it was so good I could eat that butter by the spoonful. Our server was Savanna, and she was also amazing. Our main entree was taking a little longer than expected, so she brought us a plate of their House Made Sugar Pumpkin Agnolotti on the house while we waited. I didn't know what it was at first, but within the first bite, I was blown away. Unsure what sauce or seasonings they used, this starter plate easily made my fiancé and I look up at each other in agreement to come back here just for that. Our main entrée was the steak; we both got the same thing, which was also very tasty. My steak was ordered medium-rare, but it seemed like it was more medium, and my fiancé's steak was also medium-rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Even though mine was a little more cooked than I would've hoped, it was still very good, and I was happy with it. Their seasoned veggies were great, my favorite was the carrots, and I also got the mashed potatoes. My fiancé got a side of fries, beware, they give you A LOT of fries! The atmosphere was so nice, elegant, comfortable, and friendly. They had the best soundtrack playing in the background as well, 90s- early 2000s bangers (mostly love songs because, of course, it was Valentine's Day). I'm not one who ever cares to leave a review anywhere, but I knew for certain that this was a must. We definitely plan to come back (better prepared) and soon! Thank you all so much for such a nice evening!!
Father’s Day, we didn’t have reservations and it was busy but they were able to rearrange and get us a table!!! Fabulous service already!!! I was definitely impressed with the lamb!!! The meat was so tender and the puree on the bottom so good! I had the tomato bisque and it had a nice little bite to it! Everything was on point. I’m a fan!
It is new face American Restaurant. Freeway 5 & La Paz Road. Foods are wonderful. People are nice. Nice interior, cozy place.
Waited a long time to check this place out and it didn't disappoint. I got the char and it was fantastic. Great vibe and service. Went back again today and the max and cheese was divine and the schnitzel is a massive dish, just bring a ready stomach. Great service and down to earth Midwest vibe.
So impressed with this Restutant. If I could gave 10 star I would since the food and their customer service was amazing and me and mom were both very happy . Definitely recommend this restaurant

I founded my new neighbor nice restaurant. There is red wine of pappion... New Design restaurant and foods so good. I will be again every weeks. I strongly recommend rib eye steak !!! Not Classic but awesome !!! Enjoy for dinner here !!!

Excellent experience at Ironwood. Hanna, the hostess, was outstanding, friendly, polished, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Touraj, the manager, was incredibly hospitable and made sure everything ran smoothly. My wife loved the special, and the burger I ordered was fantastic. Great food, great service, and a place we will definitely be returning to often.
Celebrating a birthday with dinner. Had the Pan Roasted Chilean Sea Bass which was tender and nicely cooked. It came with sea salt roasted fingerling potatoes, frisee, cherry tomatoes, fava beans, toasted almonds, garden herb butter. The presentation and food were excellent. Atmosphere was out on the closed patio with the heaters which were very warm, to say quite hot. Service was exceptional; service team was well coordinated and brought food in a timely manner. It was served quickly and hot.
This was our first time there. Lovely place. We sat on the patio. Everyone was super friendly save our server (M) who seemed rushed and non-friendly to the point that we felt uncomfortable. The halibut was delicious. The wine list was excellent. We will go back.

To start, the server was amazing. So nice and friendly. We got the salad 🥗and it was super underwhelming honestly. Lol. The lettuce was in huge pieces, not cut🥬. Which to my understanding, is a sign of a really fancy place but why do I need to pay to cut my own lettuce? Also there really wasn’t a whole lot of salad so that was also sad. But the main courses were delicious. The giant meatball is very legit. Huge portions, great taste. Marinara sauce is decent tasting🍝. The offer ended 1/3 a lobster tail for $16 as an add on to a few entrees, which I don’t think is worth. That’s ridiculously expensive for a tiny piece! But we also got the steak 🥩and I thought that was delicious. I love how everything has a decent amount of veg 🥕🥦with it so that’s great too. Overall, decent place but I think way to expensive 💰for what you’re getting. 😕
The food was excellent as was the service. If I had any complaint, it was something that couldn't really be controlled by the restaurant, it was the noise. It was hard to hear my date at times. Otherwise, we had a nice dinner. The fried green tomatoes and Wagyu Burger were delicious.
First time here, but have dined in their sister restaurants. Gerash, the manager, was so warm and hospitable. Food was really unique and tasty. Atmosphere great with view of saddleback mountains. Our experience could have been more 5 star if our server were better. Madison was a bit of a rush, didn't explain menu items and wanted to box our food even while i still had a fork in my hand and drinking my wine. I guess we were not dressed right , having just walked in with casual shorts and t shirts so she assumed we would not be good tippers. Well , never judge a book by it's covers....
Service was amazing! Benjamin was our server and he was very nice and let us know their specials for the night. I must say as he spoke I pictured the plates he was describing. We ordered the brussel sprouts to start witg and they were deliciously combined with caramelized pecans and other stuff. We ordered the steak and it was cooked perfectly , the mashed potatoes I felt had too much flavor as the steak was very well seasoned and it also had brussel sprouts which I would of ordered a different appetizer had I known earlier what my entree was going to be. I ordered a Nutmeg rion to drink and it was soooo good! You must try it!
My husband and I were looking to try a medium rare steak and found this place. We chose the 45 Day Aged Bone- In Ribeye Steak and instructed server we would like it medium rare. Steak came back almost well done without the "pinkness" in the center. The steak was a big enough portion for 2 and is $59.00. Alongside the steak we chose the Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Panzanella Salad and were pleasantly surprised. The salad was delicious and had very unique textures and flavors. We decided this $14.00 salad was much better than the steak we got. I had also ordered a side of the Rosemary Focaccia Bread but the server did not put through the request and we never got it. We got a glass of red wine each and our total bill was around $120.00 give or take a few dollars. I am not certain I will be back but I do believe in second chances so will see.
The bread is honey butter are good! I just wish that it's complimentary. I believe they cost around $7. The oysters on the shell are also surprisingly good. Be sure to sip up the juice from the shell! Lamb shank was great! I would skip the Wagyu burger as I couldn't tell if it was really Wagyu beef. Overall, this place serves great dishes! ** Please like my review if you find it useful. Thanks! **
Ironwood is part of small family of restaurants across orange county, including my favorite Sapphire in nearby Laguna Beach. On this occasion, we began with a couple of delicious cocktails, hot oldiehawn and lazy days. Each was made with either vodka or tequila along with exotic citrus juices. The focaccia with honey butter was fluffy and full of flavor. For entrees, we tried the steak frites and lamb shank. While flat iron steak is not the most tender, this one was deliciously prepared medium rare and served with herb fried, superb. The Zinfandel braised lamb shank was outstanding and served so soft with intact texture. To top it off, it was served with tapenade pureed potatoes and pickled veggies. Overall a wonderful experience and high quality ingredients prepared well. I might have a new favorite, specially with attentive, yet not intrusive, service. Thank you.
I came here last Thursday for happy hour with my girlfriend, and I’m so glad we did! Funny enough, I must have driven past this spot dozens of times without ever really noticing it. Now I’m kicking myself, what a find! We sat at the bar where the beautiful Brooklyn was bartending, and she gave us excellent service. Friendly, attentive, fast, she really had it all! My girlfriend and I went all in on the happy hour menu. Some we ordered are the Hand-Cut Truffle Fries, White Shrimp Ceviche, and the Creamy Burrata Caprese. Everything was good and paired perfectly with our drinks (we each had two). We got so caught up in conversation that we ended up staying longer than planned, but Brooklyn was super chill and never once rushed us. Loved the whole vibe. Next time, we’ll definitely be back to explore the dinner menu.
8/1/25: We went to this lastnight for a Caymus wine dinner. It was a very fun evening. The food pairing was spot on and not disappointing at all, so delicious! Thanks for maintaining the high quality consistency and creativities! ### This is the gem in our neighborhood, we have been many times but I decided to write up. Food in general is very good, very consistent, high quality and freshly cooked, cooked perfectly, great taste and flavors. I had tasted their meatball many years ago n thought was good but not great. However, I tasted again tonight, it was damn delicious. Great flavors, right texture, great taste. The sauce was bright tomatoes but well balanced without too acidic. My salmon was very good. Salmon was cooked perfectly, well seasoned and moist, and flaming hot. The couscous with cauliflower was cooked perfectly and refreshing. Service is always fantastic. We had been to their sisters Bloom and Sapphire but this restaurant is still our favorite 🧡.
Ironwood is a popular restaurant that offered a large selection for dinner. Our first visit included the wedge salad, fried green tomatoes, chicken schnitzel and their house specialty giant meatball. The meal was enjoyable, but would not say it's a 5 star meal. No complaints, as the service was fine and the atmosphere a bit noisy but also fine. Definitely a good restaurant for the neighborhood and a step above the nice chains, and would go back if we are in Laguna Hills/ Lake Forest again.
I'll start by saying the food was very good. The kitchen did a great job. The chicken schnitzel was crisp and thin. The vegetables and spaetze were perfectly cooked. The vegetable pasta was very delicious. The portions were large. On the negative side, the wedge salad was a zero. Now, on to the service. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order. Then, it was another 15 minutes before I flagged down the manager to get our food order in. After another 15 minutes, I had to ask where our wedge salad was? The kitchen never got our order. The manager did comp our salad and offered us a free dessert to his defense. Don't sit at the high top tables. Your knees will bang into the center support. Very poor design for a table to dine at.

Truly enjoyed this restaurant the two times we've dine there. The Menu is just right, including their cocktail offerings. Had an Old Fashioned and it was on point. Both burgers, steaks and fish are recommended, nicely prepared and presented and the flavors reign supreme. Service is awesome, positive points to the crew. Nice location off 5 freeway in Laguna Hills.

Both burgers, steaks and fish are recommended, nicely prepared and presented and the flavors reign supreme. Service is awesome, positive points to the crew. Nice location off 5 freeway in Laguna Hills.
We opted for a meal of starters instead of ordering the entrees. (which was super speedy) Overall, it's 3.5 stars. Happy to have had the outdoor tent seating option. The cocktail menu = 4 stars. The meyer lemon duck wings = 4 stars. The loaded truffle pecorino fries = 3 stars. The heirloom and watermelon panzanella salad = 4 stars. The oysters = 4 stars. Service = 4 stars. Value for money = 3.
It's a cozy place and they did their best to make a small place look and feel like a high-end restaurant. Unfortunately the food and the service wasn't something that would take me back there again.
Food is inconsistent and so is service. The cocktails are great as well as the starters. Great food with a southern influence. Do not fall into the trap of the “giant meatball” up-sell, get the lamb shank or the fish wonderful options. The pasta on the meatball dish was so over cooked it became an unrecognizable shape and there was no flavor other than dough stuck on my teeth. Perhaps not a place for simple dishes like pasta. Ordered a side of perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes instead, hard to get service despite being next to the hostess stand, could have been due to low staffing.
