Las Golondrinas in Laguna Niguel is known for takeout Mexican food, especially the breakfast burritos and the "Big Dave" burrito. However, some customers have reported inconsistent food quality, rude service (especially from one employee), and stinginess with salsa and toppings.
Tip: This is a takeout-only location with no seating. Consider taking the food cold and heating it up yourself.
I had never been here before, but the "Big Dave" might be the best burrito in O.C. Probably weighs 3 lbs. Your choice of meat. Amazing guys!

Always a good choice. Big and delicious portions!
Take away Mexican food. Great prices and food choices. Authentic as you can get in this area. Expect a line around lunch time. Quick service by staff.
Food is very good here my tacos are always full with meat nice job guys keep up the good work, Miriam is a very nice person she always has a great customer service with every one.
The breakfast burrito is awesome and only $6.50. Best value I've found anywhere in the area.
Love the cheese enchilada and their fish tacos prices are reasonable they also have great guacamole and fresh salsa
Around the Christmas season they offer the best Champurrado, or hot chocolate, I dream about it... their burritos are awesome too!
I used to live in the area and was a regular. Now that I live out of the area I always stop here when I'm back for work. One of the best Mexican places around!
Best Mexican food in the county! I drive 30 minutes to get here and its worth it wvery time.
I have been coming here since I was a kid. Best Mexican in south county.
Excellent food 😋 my favorite place for mexican food
The place is epic. Everything is good, and the guacamole is unreal. That's all you need to know.
Ssooo good first time going it was amazing and really fresh handmade tortillas 😍
Easily one of the best Mexican food joints in Orange County. Their guacamole and taquitos are amazing
The best guacamole anywhere. That being said all their food is and it's really fresh.
The Food is really good and great price. If your looking for really good food then this is the right place.
I've been going here for decades. The food is always awesome. The guacamole is the best.
Very good food. Fairly cheap and next to no wait time. A little messy but worth it. It was delicious. I will definitely be coming back.
Ordered take-out party items a day in advance. Was ready on-time and served all guests as advertised on menu. Fair pricing and helpful staff.
Mexican food I have enjoyed for 15 years, love this place ( all of their locations)
I'd go again.l for their breakfast burritos. Looks like a great place to pick up chips, salsa, and guac for an event too.
Will always love las golindrinas. My favorite is the California burrito. It’s hard not to love their other classics like chili Reno, taquitos and other amazing specials that get over looked! ALWAYS AMAZING!
Outstanding chili relleno! Chips and quac are always fresh. Fair prices.
Our go to spot when we are in the area. Definitely recommend along with their freshly made chips and Guacamole.
Coming from tustin looking for a donut spot and running into this. Do not regret delicious torta de asada 10/10!!!
One of our go-to spots for delicious chips, salsa, and guacamole. We also love the taquitos! So glad the have gluten free options
Best carnitas burritos you’ll ever have! I live in Oklahoma now and couldn’t wait to get back in south Orange County where I could have another! Yummy!
OMG! Love the food. I just got here from Florida and it was my first stop. The machaca con huevos burrito is to die for. Its so delicious, it's addictive. Love it!
Everything is authentic and delicious! The breakfast burritos are a must, and the portions are very generous! Just go, you won't be sorry.
Strictly takeout excellent Mexican food. We prefer to take the food cold then heat it ourselves. No seating.
Counter serve, no seating. The food is great, especially the enchiladas. Catered a party for 24 people and everyone loved the food.
Taco Tuesday at Las Golondrinas is always busy. Anyone who knows the food will tell you it's because of how great the Taco Tuesday Taco deal is. The Laguna Niguel location has the best Machaca Burritos. I don't know when offering chicken as an option became a thing but I know the places I used to frequent in Mexico wouldn't agree with that idea. They have gotten a little expensive in the past few years but it's still totally worth it
We love this place! It’s not the closest to our house, but any time we go to another Mexican restaurant we are disappointed so it’s worth the extra few minutes. There chips and salsa are amazing. My favorite is the chili Verdi burrito-wet(green). It’s got so much flavor. My husband loves Huevos rancheros & my daughter gets her “stake taco with beans”(on the side)
5 stars!! You get what you pay for! I live in San Diego and this place goes toe to toe with some of the best food down there. Taco Tuesday’s is the best deal, $2 tacos for carne asada and chicken. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t had it!! In response to other reviews. Yea, they’re a little short with people, but they’re not rude at all! They’re constantly busy and don’t have time for your stupid questions, custom orders, low carb diets and different BS you throw at them. This is not a Michelin star restaurant. You are not being served. This is fast food and it’s incredible! Better than most sit down restaurants out here. So order your food, take off and enjoy it. So sad to see this place not have 5 stars because of these posh reviews from Orange County snobs.
As a Taco coniseur they are great with prices fair. So many others are ridiculously over priced. We pick up only and 4 tocos are under 20$. My choice but they close too early!!!!
Excellent breakfast burritos and the best salsa
I really like the food here; it was delicious. The salsa was also very good. I don't live in the area, but whenever I come back here, I'll stop by Las Golondrinas for some tacos. Great staff, by the way.
Holy cow! Still so good after all these years. I've been coming here since they opened and I'll keep coming back. Breakfast burritos are large and filling and always excellent. Don't skip the guac and fresh made tortilla chips either.
Best breakfast burrito around, and at a way better price!

I really enjoying getting a bite to eat from one of the different locations. Today I visited the Laguna Niguel location and I'm sorry to say but the rice in my burrito was undercooked. No one wants to break a tooth on rice. The service was above board but the flavor of the food lacks in quality. What is weird is if you visit the San Clemente store the food, for Mr me, is always great. If you want to get up early try the San Juan Capistrano store, fresh tortillas and you get to watch them cooked. I'd recommend this to your average tourist looking for Mexican Food in SoCal but authentic... 🤔. Taste before you serve. If you won't eat it, neither should I.
I'm a low carb eater, so Mexican food is problematic, but he try made me a very tasty burrito without tortilla, on a bed of egg. See photo. A little pricey but very good.

Great food, good prices
Food is definitely good, no question about that; however, it's really overpriced for what the place offers, as it's only a take out place (every single location is the same: no where to seat just take out). For a decent restaurant I understand the price goes with quality and cost of doing business but for a good take out place to be this over priced is just not right.
Tasty chile relleno burritos. Delicious chips and salsa! Grab & go. Call ahead! Location is busy around eating time, so be patient and service might be courteous, might not.
This place really has really good food. I especially enjoy their beef hard tacos (eat them fast because they are juicy). We often add in a side of guacamole and chips. What kills me is how stingy they are with salsa. The smallest amount is provided with the food, and asking for extras you will be turned away without paying more. I would go twice as often if it weren't for this. So annoying and different from how every other Mexican restaurant operates.
Great for takeout. Excellent guacamole. Tacos and chile Rellenos were hot, flavorful, and enjoyable. Chile-Lime chips were great.
I generally have had pretty good success with this Mexican takeout restaurant. But I felt things were a little overpriced at this time...e.g. two quarts of baked beans $22? And their salsa was extremely runny this time almost like it was 50% water. Kind of like a salsa soup almost lol
Las Golandrias has an extensive menu featuring breakfast, a la carte, and combo meals. There is no seating for diners here (no even for those waiting to order/pick up their orders). Food is generally prepared within 15 minutes of placing an order. I have only been to this location and I have been told that quality and options are different (and generally, not as good) at their other restaurants. My favorites are the crunchy beef (asada) tacos and the beef enchiladas. I usually get the combo which includes a generous portion of beans and rice. Very tasty for the price!

I have been going to this place since I moved here the meal I received today makes me feel like their attitude towards me was racist. I watched other people’s food being made, and I watched my food being made. I will not go back to this place. this was a six dollar bean and cheese burrito

I hate to say this, but I am disappointed. My normal "taco Tuesday" order turned out to be way less meat than usual... Maybe it's just a fluke. I'll try them again sometime becaue I still love their mole chicken.
I wanted Tacos and they never let me down. As always Super Tasty! Great price and quick service
I have been here a few times and they are consistently unfriendly. The food is average at best.
This place is more miss than hit. Very inconsistent like other reviews said and service is lousy and of course be prepared to eat standing or take it to go. Prices for the quality is not that great as well.
Not sure how much I paid for what I thought I was paying for because they hand you a receipt with the bill but no breakdown on the pricing. The chalkboard is so old it is hard to read the pricing. But this didn't seem to deter anyone from purchasing food there. Mediocre at best but fast service.
I ordered nachos from a Mexican restaurant and was very disappointed to receive chips with nacho cheese poured over (on the menu it says "cheese," not "cheese sauce"). My husband ordered a California burrito which includes french fries, however they do not allow you to order any fries which was weird. Chips are homemade, which was good.
Let's face it - Laguna Niguel is a cultural food desert. In this context, Las Gol is an oasis of decent Mexican food. But in the broader scope of Southern California, it's just that - decent. However, every Tuesday, I ignore the mediocre service and underwhelming food for their STELLAR CRISPY TACOS. Seriously. They are overpriced otherwise, but they're at the right price and I can't get enough on Tuesdays. Taco Tuesday Las Gol gets 5/5 for their crispy chicken and crispy beef tacos. But every other day of the week, I recommend driving out of Laguna Niguel for better quality Mexican food.
The guy at Laguna Niguel needs to go...Consistently rude, and nasty to deal with. My LYFT driver went in to pay for my order and had an issue with his additude too. Tavos and taquitos were excellent.... But the tamale was atrocious....dry
Lots of potential, but always misses the mark. I’ve never had anything remotely well seasoned here. From the carne asada to the guac, it’s just boring. If you’re into watered down Mexican food covered in cheese, this is your place.
The cashiers need to smile. The frowns on their faces when they are taking your order makes for an uncomfortable experience. It almost feels like me as the customer is taking away their valuable time. They don't make eye contact when they speak to you. They look past you. The food is average. .
Food is decent but service is horrible except for one male cashier who is always great. The female cashiers act they are doing you a favor by taking your order. Also the food is never consistent, we order the same thing each time but it comes out different each time.

I ordered a carne asada taco, and when I got home and bit into it, I felt the texture of refried beans. So, I opened it up and sure enough it was beef AND beans. I couldn't eat the rest because I don't like beans. Carne means beef. Nowhere did it say it was a beef and bean taco. I've never had a taco with beans in the 70 years I've been alive. Burrito, yes. But taco, never.

Bought two beef tacos but they added beans to it. Terrible. Never seen a taco place add beans to their tacos unless you ask for it. Needles to say, I didn't like it.
This place used to have great food. However, the last few times the tacos and burritos are full of beans and rice ... definitely lacking on the main ingredients ... Carnitas and Chicken. Time for a new Mexican joint, unfortunately the options are limited in the OC.
Worst food I've ever had there. My beef tostada was soaked in liquid. Couldn't even eat it. The tortilla part of the chicken enchilada I ordered was so soggy it fell apart. Still like their cinnamon tortilla chips though. D from LdR
Customer service awesome. But the food was boring with nit a lot of flavor. Had carnitas and a burrito. Had the guacamole and it needed lime and cilantro.
The food is ok, but the service is horrible. The cashier's are always in a bad mood and act like you are bothering them by coming in. I don't think they understand how a business works.
Came here yesterday at around 12:45 Waited almost 40 min to get 2 fajita tacos this was the location of Camino de Estrella
Average Mexican food. High prices. Super stingy with the hot sauce. Had to ask for even the the 1 per burrito that we got. Then were told that to get one extra we'd have to pay 60¢ for it. We paid over $16 for two burritos and they couldn't spare a third hot sauce? Will not be going back.
Food was okay and it is not worth $4 a taco 😂🤣 I ordered a small crispy taco with shredded beef, a small soft taco carne asada and a small little tostada that costs me $20 lol 😂 chronic tacos are even better food. The lady upon ordering was not friendly either…
For clarification, this review applies to the Laguna Niguel location. As someone who is married to a Latina and who has also traveled extensively throughout Mexico; Las Golondrinas was a big let down. I have no idea how many people have given them almost four stars. Perhaps it is because my fellow pasty white folk have no idea what flavor and spice tastes like because they're from some place like the mid-West or the Northeast coast of the US. I find the food in both those regions of the US to be equally as bland. The combination enchiladas I ordered (1 cheese, 2 chicken) were bland and I suspect the sauce may have been from a can. Cardboard has more flavor than what I received and the rice was equally flavorless. My wife's beef tacos were ok (she said the meat was good) but she was equally disappointed in the rice. The only saving grace were the beans... they were not bland. However, I also suspect a bit of pork lard was thrown into them for flavor. Personally, I'll stick with La Rana when I dine on fast casual Mexican in this general area. They at least know how to spice and flavor their food.
Mexican food is not good. The place has no where to sit inside. So sitting outside with the flies is not fun at all always fanning them away. The tables outside are full of sticky residue and just awful. I ordered a carne asada burrito. Inside the bag were no napkins. This was not okay because the burrito fell apart into my palms. So this right away is a huge let down. Worst of all the flour tortillas was served almost raw. I expect the tortillas to have a golden brown appearance to bring out its unique taste. Then the beans. I got a bean burrito with specks of Asada, which hardly had any inside. I was so distracted by the raw flour tortilla that I could not enjoy what they served me here at Golondrina's. Their hot salsa was good. Unfortunately the carne asada burrito should stand alone and be great. This place also feels like quickie-mart. The Gringo hot sauces selling for $5 is not good because they sell at a regular grocery store for much cheaper. I would not recommend anyone to eat at this place unless they are catering their beans only because they tasted good with their hot salsa. Next time if I need to grab a bean burrito this is the place. Carne asada burrito was a huge disappointment.
Im gonna try and be as firm as I can be, driving from LA to San Diego, we decided to stop at this restaurant. We spent 26$ on 2 burritos and 2 large drinks. I ordered a beef burrito and I felt very disappointed with its size and it only came with tons of beans and a few pieces of beef. It felt like just beans and tortillas and barely any beef. My son ordered a California burrito and was satisfied with it.
It’s sad what’s become of LG. I hadn’t been in probably 10 years and what used to be my favorite burrito spot just served me the worst carne asada burrito I’ve had in decades. Watery beans, tough meat, and so poorly wrapped I’m basically wearing it now. I didn’t even finish the burrito it was so disappointing. I think Del Taco might serve up a better meal at this point. Such a bummer.
Food is ok, ordered a carne asada burrito, it was all beans, ordered food for two other people and they gave 2 small salsas for all of us, cheap on salsa, won't be back

I walked in on a Thursday afternoon. No one waiting in line. I asked if they had any specials going on today. They lady behind me looked at me unamused and said with an attitude “everything is special” so then I ordered 3 items…a bean cheese burrito, a torta and a fajita burrito. During my wait a single customer walks..3 minutes later she her order. Then 3 full grown working men come a few minutes and they all order individually and a few minutes later they receive their food. So I politely ask what’s taking so long how come everyone else is getting their food before us. She with an attitude says the fajitas take a while …if they take that long…wouldn’t you let your customers know that little detail? Also on they way out I can here her and the lady employee laughing and giggling making it seem very unprofessional and I feel they were laughing at me. The bigger set lady is the one with the attitude and I won’t be coming back to this location again nor recommending it to others as well I discourage anyone from coming here. You get better customer service at a chipotle or Taco Bell. Taqueros on Marguerite is not bad and they have a great taco Tuesday special.
I ordered the taco salad from Las Golondrinas in Laguna Niguel, and unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The chicken came in large chunks and had no flavor at all. When I called to share my feedback, the manager informed me that the chicken is boiled and that’s just how the recipe is which was surprising. On top of that, the shell was completely soggy at the bottom, which made the whole dish unappetizing.
The food was just horrible! The green burrito look like vomit !! The rice and beans smelled burn. Taquitos were hard as hell I went to get a refund and they didn’t want too because no one has made a complain all day . That has nothing to do with me . Never coming back . They don’t seem to care about their food presentation. I ask the cashier if he would eat the food and he said yes . What kind of answer is that !! Horrible food .!!
If you're going to charge $60 for 8 oz of meat on a family pack at least make sure it's 8 oz. I know there's an inflation going on you should raise your prices if you need more money and not cheat people with 25% less food.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Went to the counter with a monster and an energy drink. The energy drink was $4 so I put it back. Guy behind the counter started giving me attitude because he said he already charged for it and he couldn’t change it.
had not eaten here for years. Came out of the movies and decided to get takeout of 3 chicken taquitos. When I got home here is what I discovered: tortilla tough and very greasy, chicken was mashed up in some form that did not taste or resemble chicken!! Needless to say I will not be stopping there again.
Absolutely horrible service. Ordered a few tacos and waited 35 minutes. When we asked about the status of our order, as others were being served ahead of us, we still waited another 15 minutes. I would not negatively review a lost order if they had not been so rude about it, as we were very friendly.
Luke Warm to cold food both our meals Is HASSAP Control of hot holding cooked foods in place ? Very Salty meat in Buritto looked like cat food charged for watery salsa with no flavor No customer Bathroom, even though we ate at the tables outside which were dirty and greasy Food scraps all over the sidewalk No wipes handed a cup to fill with cold water to use to wash my Hands ...Dreadful place felt Dirty Dirty Dirty .. We wont be Back...one star because it wont let me post this review so no stars
Rude staff. Not worth it for the breakfast burritos. Too many other options and I like to support good people.
This place has terrible service. The cashier barely speaks English and is rude. They charge you extra for hot sauce and they are slow.
The food was not that good. I needed to drench it in hot sauce to make it better but they would not give me any without a hassle.
I was looking for a Mexican restaurant and I found this one I went to the one on greenfield drive I order a carne asada burrito and one order of carnitas I bought guacamole and chips I ask for hot salsa for the carnitas they told me we don’t have any 🙄 ok I ask if they had jalapeños they gave me the Serrano peppers 😂 I was like really ? This for the carnitas ,then is when I noticed that that was not a Mexican restaurant they don’t have anything .. well when I finally got to my job witch it was 9 miles away and I handle my partner the Carme asada burrito we saw that it had more been then nothing no Spanish rice no salsa and maybe one tablespoon full of carne asada 😡 I couldn’t go back it was far beside I was on my lunch .. but I call them I was expecting for them to say, stop by and we will refund but the lady that answer the phone said I need to see it lmao when I turn to see my partner I ask him where’s the burrito he said I throw it away 😂😂 nasty food 🤮not Mexican at all not going back I took a picture of the burrito but it’s not letting me upload it
The guy that takes your order there is the biggest a,,,hole. He is the rudest person I have ever felt with in the fast food service. I will not ever go back because they treat you horrible there. Every person I have talked to about the Laguna niguel store says bad things about the guy who takes your order
i ordered 3 burritos but only received 2 sauces, it’s a sauce per burrito! then when i asked for another sauce they wanted to change me! they don’t value customers!
Worst tamales ever! First and last time, and way over priced. Pollo loco offers tastier tamales for half the price. I just thought of trying this place thinking they would be amazing. Ruin my dinner...had to throw them away.
Food good, Manager (Oscar) rude. Would not take a phone order because they were too busy........I guess Oscar likes a room full of waiting customers. My wife went in to order and met others waiting, some of which had phoned in???? I will not go back. Oscar should be fired!!!
Worst service and careless people, I called for an order to go and they told me they are not taking orders to go because they were too busy, Are you serious? I did asked, thinking it was a yoke, seriously, they replied and they hang up on me Greedy/cheap I have to ask and beg many times for extra cilantro or extra salsa and they want to charge me extra $, they said they only give 1 salsa per order, even when I have ordered 3 plates. I will not come back again and support business like this one
Quite possibly the worlds worst Mexican food ever. Carne asada tacos - meat tasted like stew meat and they mixed it with nasty bean sauce. Been burrito was cold. They charge for salsa. Two thumbs down!
This is the kind of review I hate doing. The food was so-so, but the customer service was what inspired me to give them my lowest score. Ordered a couple burritos, and asked for extra salsa to go. The person said "2 is the most we give out, doesn't matter the size of the order." Normally I understand, but this person has an attitude and was unapologetic about it. There are plenty of other options nearby that have great food and greater customer service. I have never experienced this before, I have also never eaten a burrito with just one sauce.... Fortunately for me, I know all the great spots in the area. Taqueros off Marguerite and Avery is amazing, definitely try this place. Roberto's off La Paz is great. Tacos de Anda off Alicia is amazing! Taco Mesa in Ladera is the bomb!
The lady at the counter needs to learn some manners, how she answers the phone, greeting a customer and saying "thank you" Food is good but small portions and too expensive. Ridiculously greedy with the salsa
Food was edible but I asked for a grilled chicken quesadilla and a side order of beans he said no grilled chicken just regular cooked chicken I told him it was fine. I pay and get a chicken burrito with a side of beans I was like what is that he said I asked for a burrito and I responded with why would I ask for side of beans then if the burrito comes with beans, he never offered to make it right he just said I can give you another side. As I saw he didn’t want to fix his error and I didn’t want him to add any other stuff to my food I ate the burrito and requested the very least a side of guacamole instead of the beans he smiles and says you can have the beans too. Worst experience ever. Will never come back!
Amazing food been going here since I was a kid. But this location wouldn’t give me more than a couple pepperchinos. Even when I offered to pay they refused and they seemed annoyed that I would even ask. What once was a cute family owned restaurant now seems stingy and unwelcoming.
Avoid this location at all costs. Haven’t been in awhile, but it is time for the older dude behind the counter to retire. Can’t say I didn’t warn you. He will get mad at you when HE can’t get your order right. And don’t ask for more cilantro on your tacos unless you want to pay extra. 😂 San Clemente and Dana Point locations are far superior options.
They are so ridiculous with their salsa rules here that it makes it unenjoyable to order from them. If you order one item you get 2 tiny side salsas. If you order 20 items you get the same 2 salsa. It makes no sense. If you order one item on Tuesday for full price (and not their special priced tacos) you only get 1 salsa because “it’s taco Tuesday”, but if you order the same item the next day, you get 2. If you ask for the salsa on the side from taco, you have to pay for it even though it was part of the taco description and it can make the taco soggy to have it on there and drive home. They are so stingy and so rude that I won’t go back there. I totally understand limiting the amount of salsa from a financial perspective, especially for a promotion like taco Tuesday tacos, but their “salsa policy” is far removed from Common Sense. Good business practices would make the amount of condiments proportional to what you order, especially when you’re spending more money at their business . Also, their service and tone of voice is really not nice and it’s very obvious that they could care less whether you return as a customer . There are plenty of other local places to support that don’t have this rude and condescending attitude. This has happened to many time and the food isn’t even worth the ridiculousness.
It's sad when you're trying to order simple street tacos and the people taking your order make it super difficult. Charging for cilantro on street tacos give me a break. There are way better places in South Orange county to eat Mexican food. They need to step up their people skills. This location . I've been going to Las Golondrinas for years. Not going to even miss coming back here to this location.
Food is good, but the people behind the counter are miserable and unfriendly! Wont go back due to the super depressing vibes I get from the people taking the orders. Get new people who can SMILE and act friendly, if you want more people to come back.
