Wow, 1st visit last night to Duck Goose for my wife's birthday and we were not disappointed, from the moment we stepped through the door we were made to feel welcome, the staff were friendly, attentive & always on hand. The food was exceptional, my steak was cooked to perfection, the fish was amazing & the onion rings were out of this world. Duck Goose is amazing, I highly recommend to one & all, if you're planning on going then you'll need to prebook as understandably it gets busy.
Fabulous bistro in the centre of Leek. Great atmosphere in an intimate way. Had lunch on a Saturday afternoon in October and enjoyed every moment!. Several menus to choose from. We went to the light lunch menu which offered great choices at value for money prices. Lovely consice wine list. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Apparently Sunday lunch is superb.
Extremely friendly, great food at a reasonable price. They found a table for us at 1.00pm on a Sunday when they appeared to be fully booked, provided four great Sunday lunches (two vegetarian) and one of the best roast beef sandwiches I’ve had. Couldn’t be better!
Came all the way from Derby to eat here with friends. The staff were very helpful, they tried their hardest to help with my dietary requirements. I was limited to what I could eat. They have informed me that they're working on developing dishes to cater for lactose intolerance (puddings!) and more Vegetarians options. The food were tasty and the sevice was excellent. The beer was great and I will be back!!!
I've visited here a few times over the past few months and it never fails to impress. A cool little restaurant with attentive staff and amazing food. The Sunday lunch is the best around and fish & chips up there with the best I've had. I'm currently working my through the amazing menus. Great value, well cooked food and presented food made with love.
Birthday treat and perhaps one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. We opted for the beef and our lovely waitress was very clear on how we could have this served eg well done or med/rare. We both opted for the medium rare and it was perfect. Very tender and a good amount of beef. Veg in plentiful, perfect roast potatoes, smoked cauliflower cheese and a perfect homemade Yorkshire pudding, complimentary gravy was well received. Our dessert was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, this was divine and came with plenty of warm toffee sauce. Heaven! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and two happy and full to the brim mum & daughter. Highly recommend and will be back.
Fantastic food and great options for vegetarians (very talented chef) , great service, excellent cocktails and a fair price for the quality of food. Our favorite place to visit and a rare find. Would highly reccomend. Looking forward to future visits.
Got to make it to Duck Goose for opening night. Oh man, absolutely amazing! Just what Leek needs in the restaurant scene. Insane food(better than my recent trips to the orange tree/Miller and Carter-not that either were bad) and brilliant value for money. The Truffle and Parmesan skin on fries were to die for, and a must have. Highly recommend to everyone thinking of going.
Wow! What an absolute joy of a place. The decor is simple yet beautiful (loved the wooden suspended ceiling), temperature was perfect (given 2 sides of the building are glass it's not the easiest!) and was busy at 6pm when we had our table. The wait staff were lovely and chatty when serving, but not pushy or overbearing. They overheard that it was my birthday and when my dessert came out they put a candle on it! The food was absolutely top notch, definitely the best meal I've had in Leek if not the last 5 years anywhere. Very optimistic about return visits as well, as this was the December menu; the idea of seasonal menus always fills me with joy! Two three-course meals, a bottle of red and a cognac each after for £45 a head, very well priced. Thank you for making a memorable meal!
What an amazing meal my daughter and myself were fortunate to taste this evening. Although the burgers for 2 with 3 sides looked amazing. We went for this weeks special menu. We both ordered the starter, main and dessert. Oh my goodness it didn't disappoint. The taste, flavours appearance absolutely outstanding. Not one plate returned empty, absolutely divine.
Our first time in Leek so googled where to eat at lunchtime. Duck.Goose bistro was just perfect. We had meals from the light bites menu, good choice & the food was absolutely delicious and worthy of a few rosettes! Lovely presentation. Great service, very nice ambience. Will definitely recommend & return when next visiting. Thankyou to all staff involved.
Two things about me: I always order the souffle. And I'm always disappointed by it. That was until I had the wonderful raspberry and dark chocolate special on Valentine's Day at Duck Goose. Not overly sweet like most. Lovely tartness of fresh raspberries rather than jam heavy. Wonderful pudding. I also had the burger which was delicious. Cooked over charcoal, piping hot chips, wonderful garnish, and soft bun. Definite go to. A lot of thought and experience goes into adjusting taste and flavours. Negatives: we miss the Home Kitchen and Supper Club.
First time visiting Duck Goose. What a fantastic little gem. Amazing food and cosy friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend looking forward to returning soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely place, popped in there at short notice for dinner with my mum, really pleasant atmosphere, we were very well looked after and the good food which was clearly prepared in the kitchen fresh (vs being warmed up in a microwave) finished off the experience. I’ll no doubt be returning before too long!
This was our first visit, which we booked for an anniversary and sat upstairs. The room was decorated nicely and the candles and soft lighting made it very cosy and romantic. We had the courses and whilst it wasn't cheap, you definitely could taste the quality of the food. The steak was absolutely out of this world and I'm still thinking about it about it weeks later. Would 100% recommend and look forward to going back. It was 2 minutes walk from a car park which I believe was free after 3.
Amazing meal, very polite friendly attentive staff, we had a beautiful Sunday rump steak dinner with all the trimings beautiful roast potatoes etc and a home made sticky toffee pudding to die for! I nearly ordered another as did the rest of the family it was that good but we were to full after a beautiful rump steak Sunday dinner well done guys!
Came with friends for a Sunday Lunch - Very attentive staff, fantastic environment and absolutely superb food. Been saying for ages that Leek needs some gourmet British food and Duck Goose has well and truly taken the mantle of being the restaurant that delivers that!
What a find. Flavours are perfectly blended and inventive. The food far exceeds the humble setting of this cafe. It is good restaurant quality cafe food in a really easy going setting. Hot salmon sandwich was lovely. Soup was curried cauliflower with sultanas and almonds, plus carrot bhaji. Just wonderful. Panna cotta stunning. This will be 'our' place in leek.
Extremely good food, and excellent friendly service! Food presented beautifully, warm cosy venue with friendly atmosphere ✨
Beautiful place! Owners are amazin! Staff are so attentive, food incredible! Legit best meal ive had for a while 🥰 well done guys should be hella proud of yourselfs!
Sunday lunch was superb! £23 for two course.. great value for the delicious quality. Free parking on Sundays in the carpark down the road!
Beautiful Sunday lunch ,lovely coffee.
Great food, excelent coffee and dessert, attentive and friendly staff. Perfect for relax fine dinning experience. Strongly recommend.
Amazing Sunday roast in Pork and Beef options with fantastic veg and roast potatoes. Amazing service - highly recommended.
Visited for Sunday lunch and will definetly be visiting again. The food was well presented, tasty and generous portions. All the staff we encountered were really pleasant and helpful and the venue is lovely.
Having the privilege to have worked and lived in over 18 countries I've visited some very fine dining restaurants including michelin Stars and I have to say last night's experience was exceptional . The meal from beginning to end was brilliant , the starter was clean and refreshing which was a chicken terrine and then went on to the main which was a Tbone steak cooked over Japenese coals and on a BBQ grill. I usually have my steak rare or ask the Chef to cook it to what in his proffesional opinion would be the best, he did not dissapoint as it was one if not the best steak ive had the pleasure of eating and was rare and locally sourced from Dunwood farm. Then on to the desert a creme brullee which was excuisite , all in all a well balanced meal cooked with care and attention to detail all the way through every ingredient was localy sourced and cooked to perfection I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough , thank you to the Chef and team and the knowledgeable and friendly front of house service.
Awesome atmosphere, awesome food, amazing value, lovely staff. Whats more to say. Thank you for a great meal.
A great family meal, we haven't been in ages but it's still as good as the last time we went. We had the burger deal and really enjoyed everything
It is great to eat at an independent bistro where the chef can really cook. We were in at around 2:30 pm on a Friday, so they were coming to the end of service. Despite that they were happy to squeeze us in. The light bites menu offered 2 courses for £20 and 3 courses for £25. Great value! Home made tomato soup hit the spot on a blustery day, and my home cured beetroot salmon was an exceptional starter. The main courses of a well seared, tender and flavouful Bavette steak with truffle and parmesan chips (for a small supplement) was memorable. My partner's dish was terrific too. We could not find room for dessert, but I wish we could. We'll be back.
Just had a lovely lunch with my daughter in law, food delish and served by a very polite younge man. Will be back, highly recommeded
A really wonderful little bistro, with a great atmosphere and delicious food. I ordered the vegetarian Sunday lunch here, and the attention to detail along with the flavours really impressed. My family and my girlfriend also commented that the food was exceptional. The service was also very friendly and quick. I'm happy to have discovered another gem of Leek. Highly recommended.
Food was unbelievable and was a very calming and chilled experience. Thank you so much for a lovely evening
It says a lot about this fantastic restaurant that out of the six meals out on our holiday, three were here. Fish and chips and a burger for lunch on Saturday, roast beef on Sunday (smoked cheese broccoli an exceptional side dish) and the steak night special on the Thursday before we had to go home. The quality of the food was brilliant at the start and just got better and better with every visit! The steak was the best I've had at a restaurant, the truffle and Parmesan fries are a unique delight. If you are what you eat, my husband is sticky toffee pudding - he had it all three times!!. I had the delice too, a lovely balance of rich dark chocolate and tangy raspberry sorbet. I was lucky enough to book on the strength of the reviews for our first two meals and the third the night before. It is small but busy so booking is almost essential. Highly recommended. Despite having great eateries near home, I wish you were in Norfolk!
Heard plenty of reviews about this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. I was definitely not disappointed. The decor is wonderful, and the staff very attentive to your needs. The ambience is delightful. As for the food, just wow, 10/10. So started with a sharing platter of breads, cooked to perfection. For the mains, after a wonderful choice, decided to get the fish and chips. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy batter on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle. The Chips cooked just how I like them, just delightful. Finished with a cheesecake. I am not normally a cheesecake kind of person. However, amazing, just amazing. Would I recommend this restaurant, yes, absolutely. Will I be returning, oh yes. The best meal I have had for a while.
We were visiting Basford and the surrounding area with the family and went here for a Sunday roast. The food and service were excellent with generous sides. Also, we were very grateful to the kind staff who helped to find a quiet part of the bistro for our autistic child to calm down when he had felt overwhelmed after a long day out. Thank you!
On the whole a very pleasant dining experience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, surrounded by a calm ambiance. A great asset to Leek. However I was a little disappointed in the choice of food and drink available, although I have noticed that this changes frequently so may return. My lady chose the pie, which although was flavoursome and seasoned well was a little on the small side considering the limited accompaniment and price bracket. My burger was of the excessive double patty variety which I’m not fond of in particular and was not very adventurous with its cheese, tomato and lettuce. I prefer a conventional single patty cooked medium pink (or at least offered as an option) as opposed to two, well done. Unfortunately the brioche bun was burnt on top. This didn’t really effect the flavour but visually this could have easily been rectified before reaching the table. I hope you take these criticisms on a positive note as we felt the staff really did make a great effort in making sure our needs were met.
Beautiful food & friendly service. Could just do with a few more vegetarian/vegan dishes to choose from.
