Found a GEM! This has the feel of a hometown diner- seat yourself, and there is pie! The ribs are great, and the slaw has a kick. Didn't care for the beans, but everything else was fantastic!

BBQ!!!! It won't be long before this location moves to Portola Ave and will be "Hick'ry Pit." We stopped in for dinner and were very impressed. We had the family bbq meal and it was just way too much food and we have wonderful leftovers. Chicken Fried Chicken, Coleslaw and the dressed baked potatoes were awesome but the ribs, tri tip & turkey were standouts.

Our experience at Emil Villa's was wonderful. When we walked in, the hostess was very kind, and she promptly got us drinks and was very helpful in general. The ambiance is cozy and relaxing. They have quite a variety of food options (pancakes, steak, salad). When we got our food, we were happy with the generous food portions. The food itself tasted great too, which is the most important part. During our meal, our hostess came to us every few minutes, which I personally liked. She made sure that we had everything we needed. It was an enjoyable meal. If your in the area and have the time, Emil Villa's is the place to go.

Always nice to find a place that can do hash browns correctly. Haven't tried their bbq yet, but it looks good.

There were 5 of us for lunch with good service, lots of privacy and excellent food. We all ordered different meals from the menu. We were all pleased with our fish tacos, or fried fish & chips, or sirloin steak salad or Emil Villa's omelets. Thank you for a wonderful holiday lunch experience with our out of town friends! 😀

Amazing service: staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our drinks are always refilled promptly and we never wait very long for anything. I don't know what's in that coleslaw dressing, but it's AMAZING! Definitely has some kind of horseradish-y kick to it. The BBQ chicken is consistently moist, smoky and delicious!

They serve just about everything and their Special Value breakfasts, lunches and dinners are great deals with generous helpings of great food. Love the new location. There’s a bunch of parking even when they are busier and the outdoor area is really nice and quiet/shady. The staff is all really friendly and attentive. We always loved the old location but this one is definitely an upgrade! 10/10 come here for breakfast

Inocencio is great!! My family and I go to Sycamore Grove or Del Valle and always make a point to stop to get lunch from our favorite waiter. A family favorite for years. Thrilled they've reopened. The food and service are excellent as always, and the new location and building are even better than before. The piggy figurines are still in a display case at the entrance.

I was amazed. The food was excellent. The employees are so kind, attentive, and friendly. I was there with a group and I had never been to Emil Villa's ever. I thought Emil's wouldn't be my kind of place. I usually eat vegetarian cuisine, Indian food, Thai food, Chinese food... I haven't cooked meat for years, for example. The ribs at Emil's have to be tried. You'll love them. The coleslaw is excellent too The peach cobbler was a little too sweet, but I will come here once a month if I can. I'll send others too!

I tried both of their chicken and beed Quesadillas, and both of them were quite amazing. Their special country fired chicken entree is also great dish to eat. I will certainly come back for trying more dishes from their menus.

Emil Villa's breakfasts are my favorite. Pork Chops and Eggs get the top rating with Vegetarian Scramble next in line. If they offer the seasonal Swedish Pancakes, don't miss out! For lunch or dinner, if I don't get breakfast 😉, I get something from the lunch or dinner specials menu.

The St Louis ribs were delicious. Very meaty and well prepared. Jonathan, our server, was very good. He made a yummy substitution for us due to the mixed veggies being inedible.

We hadnt been to Emil Villa's in a couple years, but tgis particular morning, the SO wanted steak & eggs. I opted for the eggs benidict and coffee, as always. Though it wasnt nearly as busy as the parking lot suggested, service was slow dispite seeming to be well staffed. The atmosphere there is wonderfully nostagic, and the menu offers a great selection of classic American fare. We both enjoyed our food, and i thought the coffee was wonderful.

My favorite diner in the area, always enjoy a chicken fried steak. When the calling arises, a pulled pork sandwich hits the spot. I'd avoid the shrimp salad though, tends to still be frozen.

The cole slaw is my favorite. We had ribs, baby back and Emil. They were both good, but the Emil was a dry rub and a bit chewy.

Updated review: so far probably the best normal breakfast without the wait or rush in Livermore. This is not the place for a fancy coffee or the latest trendy item but it's great for decent breakfast. We had the eggs and sausage link with country potatoes and the pork chop and eggs with country potatoes. Both were hearty and well received. The server made that meal even better by her old school service. G is always on her game and makes sure your well taken care of !! This is the way to start the morning 🌄

Excellent breakfast! I had not eaten there in about 30 years, but a friend suggested trying it for our weekly get together of retired co-workers. It was excellent. If they could properly baste eggs, they would have gotten 5 stars. And the eggs were good, just not properly basted. At $6 for eggs, hash browns and bacon, it was a great deal and everything was delicious! Even the not quite basted eggs. Even the hot tea was better than average. We will be going back!

While the price is a bit over what my current budget allows, I look forward to treating myself and my family again for a special occasion! Don't forget THE PIES! Plenty of parking too. There appears to be an old-style cocktail lounge in the same building so hope to check out the interior there in the future!

It's your typical local diner, with breakfast and lunch. The food is average but the last few times I was here I waited at least 20 minutes to get a table, and the service was slow. Otherwise, not a bad spot for breakfast or lunch.

The ribs are great but all the other meat was dry and over cooked. Side dishes don't feel fresh and homemade. People are nice. VERY pricey. Wouldn't go again.

7 chewy (not good) Emil's ribs is a "full slab"?? For $36 dollars. Never again..... The sliced meat sampler platter is no prize either. We had the order "to go", didn't find out about what we "didn't get" until we got home.

Decent enough restaurant and the food is good. We didnt know what to expect, but the decor wasnt what we imagined. It looks like it may have formerly been something like Baker's Square or other restaurant diner with the pies at the front in a case, and lots of tables in an open room, outdated furnishings, and drab colors. Not what it use to be back in the day . The brown sauce was absolutely terrible full of lumps and greasy I think it was warmed up in the microwave. The only decent hickory pit left is the one in Walnut Creek across from los Lomas high school. Don’t waste your time in Livermore. They don’t even give you the pickle spear with your ribs

Kinda sad.. we have this place in Hayward and it's not too bad..but this place was pretty bad.. steak was thin chewy and no flavor, the hash brown was oily and under cooked and my wife's hash brown was burnt in the bottom.. and for breakfast 40 bucks for two people. That's way too pricy for cheap food.. Like the quality of the food taste so cheap. yeah never coming back to this place. Only reason for 2 stars was the servers.. sweet and nice.

Went to the Hickory Pit for lunch today ... I ordered the Philly Cheese steak sandwich but substitute turkey instead. Very little meat, no cheese and I requested no onions sure enough there were onions ... and the bread was stale. Another thing if you use your credit card there's a 4% service charge. I won't be returning there for quite awhile ... Good Luck to them as I'm sure their business will go down hill.

Went for the early dinner special. The price is good, the plate was big, looked filling.. but, I ordered the ribs with fries, a salad and water with ice. The ribs had barely any meet on them and were over cooked as if it was rewarmed from yesterday. I dont want to have to drench it in bbq sauce so I can force it down. That was not filling altho it looked big on the plate, maybe 15% of it was edible. The small salad with ranch was drenched in salad dressing. Now I like a lot of salad dressing.. but this was overkill. I dont need my lettuce floating on top of the dressing. Be sure to ask for it on the side so you can put on how much you like. The ranch dressing itself tasted good tho. The fries were a little over cooked and tasted like it was cooked in old oil that hasn't been changed in a few days. When the regular potato fries come out looking like sweet potato fries and the same color, you know theres a problem. I didnt even finish them, not to mention there was a hair in the fries. Before I even got my food, the waitress, who was very nice, brought me water with ice. As I sat there waiting for the food, I took a look around as this was my first time going here. The ice machine is old, dirty, and rusty. The motor on the back was dusty and dirty. It doesnt look like it's been serviced or cleaned in years. The machine looks like it could be 30 yrs old or older. Maybe I've watched too many episodes of bar rescue with John taffer, but I'm skeptical and worried about whatever is most likely growing inside this ice machine not to mention the obvious rust. The back bar area is older and doesnt give the appearance of cleanliness. I'd like to give it the benefit of the doubt and say it's just old.., but I cant in this case. The other food plates I saw go out also looked big and filling. The food on those plates looked ok visually, but who knows. But then I saw the waitress use her bare hands, un washed, to squeeze open an already sliced baked potato to pile in 2 scoops of butter from a giant tub. There were small flies buzzing around that I kept having to swat away. That alone tells you just about all you need to know about their cleanliness. You know they are landing on everything all day and night.... As a business owner for 30 years in various industries and having worked in the bar and restaurant industry myself for 15 years which I still work in, theres a lot of things I'd change, update, and do differently here. I've usually got an iron stomach but I'm still feeling a little uneasy a few hours later. I'm not sure I'll be back again unless theres a little updating of the service items and the processes here.

I hadn't been to Emil Villa's in a few years because I moved out of the bay area but was back for a visit. I wanted some of their ribs and a grilled crab sandwich. What a disappointment... the sandwich was not grilled, it was toasted and had not much flavor. I took most of it home to doctor it up. Ribs also, the best part of the ribs was the BBQ sauce and the sauteed veggies. I was very sad to see that the place in Livermore was moving but maybe they'll get more business that way. We went on a Sunday afternoon about 2:00 pm, the place was empty. Emil Villa's is gone. It's very sad.

Walked into restaurant for pick up order. Was not greeted. 3 staff members walked past me without asking if I had been helped. Requested homemade yeast rolls and received stale store bought rolls. Ordered apple cobbler. Received peach cobbler. Disappointed from beginning to end

Our school ordered food for all the teachers and every one of the teachers and staff that ate the food got violently sick 4 hours later. One person had to go to the hospital. I would say DON'T go there because they could have unsanitary food preparations. One of the teachers has been there before this incident and she got sick. this is the second time.

I grew up loving Emil Villa in Hayward...... but I've visited the Livermore location a number of times over the past 18 years and it seems to always disappoint. I kept hoping for the best but today was my last visit. Shrimp was undercooked & steak was toothy. Just sad and disappointed

Tried to give this place a second chance came in for lunch and had the ribs. That was okay at best. Friend came in town and had breakfast here. We both got the chicken fried steak it was disgusting. Think bad cafeteria frozen patty, it was a weird cheap rubber meat with just add water gravy. When your debating how hungry you are vs how bad something is that’s pretty bad. It wasn’t so much the taste as it was a weird meat product with a really unique texture.

First off, I understand this is a newly opened location. The servers and hostess were great. The kitchen and management staff are obviously new, looking at the ingredients on the menu. I ordered a lunch special. I promptly got my salad, but my main course was not out after more than 30 minutes. Customers sat 20 minutes after me had their food when I decided to leave due to being over my time allotted for lunch. The server did ask repeatedly for my order, again great job. The inexperience, or understaffed kitchen staff was the issue. I could not tell you if the food was good or bad, but ownership may want to bring in some veteran staff to not only teack5new staff, but account for the excitement of the new opening.

Update your opening hours. People look to Google to see if youre open. Your information is wrong. You businesses need to start paying attention to information out their about your business.

Literally so bad. I never write reviews, but my husband and I wanted to walk out after the first 5 minutes but kept waiting to see if it got better… it didn’t. I asked for a side of coleslaw, and was brought a plate of raw cabbage with white goop slopped on top. Mixed it up myself, tried it, awful. Asked for a soup instead. Was given a bowl of cold soup, barely lukewarm. Paid 4.00 for each drink and was never given refills. French fries were all burnt and dry, the only decent food was the chicken, and ours had like a mystery limb hanging off of it? Idk, just super weird and uncomfortable experience. Wish I took pictures. Never going back. $70 wasted.

My coworker and I just came for breakfast the service was the worst!!!! Sign said wait to be seated no one came and some one yelled from the back office to seat ourselves. We ordered our food and it took over 30 minutes to come. I had to ask for more water and napkins. My county potato were burnt, my coworkers biscuits were cold and old. When trying to pay staff was just looking at us and wouldn’t help. The place had just opened and it wasn’t busy for us to be treated like that. NEVER AGAIN!!!

I spent $32 for an order of ribs for a sizeable hungry gentleman and only got 6 ribs-not what I consider a slab. I also ordered 2 sides one of which was coleslaw and received a dinner salad. Needless to say I was more than discouraged and disappointed . I called the restaurant and was informed “that’s what it is”. NEVER AGAIN!! Especially if you’re hungry. My total order was $130.00 and oh well attitude…..

This place is absolutely terrible. The meat is incredibly dry and not seasoned well. It's wayyyyyy to expensive to be this bad. The customer service was short of mediocre. The place feels very run down in appearance and isn't very inviting. The place doesn't have an identity. If you want an amazing BBQ place try CANYONS BBQ IN CASTOR VALLEY. It beats this play any day of the year! I wouldn't say sauce is an amazing BBQ place either, but it's better than this place. Canyons BBQ beats them both, hands down. Amazing, amazing place with awesome food for a reasonable price.
