Nice food, nice atmosphere and not too expensive
We had 4 two course theatre meals all of which were delightful we all decided on a dessert again they were delicious and the service was great.
Loved the pizza, soup and service! Everyone was really nice. Def coming back again.
This is a lovely restaurant! We went here before our trip to the Theatre and the food was delicious.
Superb food and friendly staff. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommend.
Very good food and a great atmosphere. Great for a nice italian dinner.
Food are pretty good. Desserts are great!!! Fantastic customer service.
Choose 2-3 small dishes of amazing actual Italian dishes. Staff is very friendly. Try the Tiramisu: it's better than most of restaurants in Italy.
Wow! Best pizza I have ever had! Great price too! Would be nice if there would be a fresh juice selection - otherwise - perfect!
Great food in lovely surroundings and we were superbly looked after by the staff. My son stated that the gluten free pizza was the best that he had had!
One of the best Italian places outside of the Italy I've been to. Great selection of wines matching selection of dishes. And reasonable prices.
The food is absolutely delicious, the staff are very friendly & efficient. All this set in lovely surroundings & a great atmosphere. Thank you.
As newlyweds my wife and me went there on our honeymoon to London for dinner before going to the theater. The service of the personal was incredibly fast, which was really impressive because the resturant was full at the time but deeply appriciated since we were in a hurry due to us running late for "the Phantom". The food was so amazing that we had to come back the next day (and would have the day after again if we stayed longer) and we especially reccommend the Tiramisu! We also got to talk to the manager, who were walking the resturant and greeting the customers to check if everything was in order, and he provided us with a couple of shot of Limoncello for free. Nothing that may have been an expensive service, but one that along side him talking to us made us feel extremly welcome. Thus, we deeply reccomend going to the resturant for the warm services, delicious food and the great Tiramisu :-) -Rikke & Christian, the newlyweds
We love this restaurant, and had a great time there. We love the starters (calamari, olives, bread, zucchini chips), and the pasta (arribatta and linguini) are our favourites. The staff are very helpful and lovely to us! thanks again for a great evening with our friends.
Enjoyed great pizza (Margherita), burratta, caprese, and carbonara. Service was attentive and friendly. Perfect dinner before a show, and one of our best dinners on our London trip thus far. Recommended!
I have been back numerous times. Authentic Italian food, rustic look with friendly waiters and relaxed atmosphere with a good wine selection in the middle of the West end... You can choose small platters for sharing too. Stefania
This is the best restaurant I've ever been to for lunch! The food is delicious, and it's probably the best italian food I've ever tasted. The pizza bolognese is fantastic, and so is the risotto with mushrooms too. The portions are small, almost tapas size, but they taste like heaven.
My girlfriend brought me here for dinner before a theatre performance and we both absolutely loved it here. The restaurant itself is perfectly positioned and very well decorated. It's a very warm and welcoming atmosphere with super friendly staff. The waiters are quick to ensure everything is to your liking and make sure you're comfortable. The food is to die for; as usual we both ordered pizzas which are of a very generous portion size. I ended up eating one and a half and my goodness are they satisfying. At the end we were very happy with the bill as everything is generously priced for what you get.
The food was nice. We got the scallops, truffle ravioli, mozzarella and onion pizza, Tuscan sausage pizza and the one with rocket. My favorite was probably the rocket pizza which was incredibly cheesy. Everyone else favored the Tuscan. The service was nice and pleasantly attentive.
Good food and service in a spacious setting. The Scallops and seafood was very tasty.
04/12/14 My partner and I went in for a meal before seeing phantom of the Opera. Was really nice food and service. Rather expensive but that's London for you.
Booked a table as part of a theatre package, couldn't have been more convenient as located literally opposite the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Got the Italian tapas menu which was 3 items each from a set menu which were tasty and surprising generous portion - only complaint would be the calamari I had was possibly a little over seasoned, but I use very little salt normally so probably just my personal taste. Dessert however was a little disappointing - went for a cheesecake to share between two of us and it was quite a small portion and rather dry.
Food was generally tasty, if rather oversalted. The portions were a bit small, but I didn't feel hungry at the end of three courses. Prices weren't too bad (there's a chef's specialties, which is about £12 for 3 courses). The staff were very pleasant and friendly, very helpful.
Anytime I'm in the area, I stop here for lunch. The olives are fat, plump, and insanely fresh. They are the best. My husband and I usually share several small dishes and also love their pizza. Their ravioli is SO fresh, and the meatballs are scrumptious, their pate is my favourite. All of the staff are Italian, however, so clearly express yourself. We've never had an issue, but after reading some reviews it appears some people are surprised to find Italians running and working in an Italian restaurant.
Assaggetti is easily accessible by public transport, and serves excellent Italian cicchetti and other authentic dishes in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Pleasant and attentive service, and the kitchen accommodated my requirements of no fat or dairy with no problems at all. You must save space for dessert - their chocolate cake is made with dark chocolate and cocoa, more like a brownie than a cake but the perfect end to a lovely meal. Strongly recommend visiting! :-)
Staff more business like than friendly. 2 of our anti pasta came with a lot of sauce but no bread or spoon to mop it up. Our waitress was helpful with wine choice though when the one we wanted wasn't available. Food was delicious. Would have been 5 stars if any of them had given us a smile or checked all was ok during our meal. The restaurant wasn't busy so it wasn't as if they were stressed or hadn't time.
On a sunny Monday lunchtime we strolled to Assaggetti tempted by their lunchtime offer of two courses for £16.95. It was a good choice. The room is massive and a trip to the loo can add significantly to your step count if you're concerned about that sort of thing. Fellow diners were sparse (there's a lot of competition in this part of London), being mostly office workers as far as I could tell. The food was good value. Smoked salmon to kick off was a generous enough portion with a drizzle of balsamic and some shavings of sweet onion. The spicy tuscan sausage pizza was delicious and big enough for a larger appetite than I possess. I tried to finish the lot because the crust was delicious but I just didn't have the capacity. The house white at just over 21 quid a bottle was fine and helped the conversation along. The one downside for a musically sensitive soul like myself was their decision to play Sting after Sting after Sting. For me a little Sting goes a long way. I didn't like it. The service however was excellent so if you want a quick cheap lunch around here, and you can tolerate Sting on the jukebox, Assaggetti isn't a bad option.
Food was good although slightly overpriced. I went with a group of friends, like late teens/early twenties - staff were pretty unwelcoming and made us feel like we didn't belong there.
Venue was nice and the food was ok. I just think that it was a bit over priced for what it was and some of the food was a bit poor, the spinach was disgusting! I think there are better places in the area tbh
Staff were a bit standoffish, theatre menu is carbtastic but ok. I wouldn't go again
Central London Italian family restaurant which probably survives due to the many tourists in the area. The food was average at best, our bill for 2 people was over £120 although the bottle of wine bumped up the price. If you are in London a few days do your research as to where to eat as no one should settle for average in such a great world city
Good for a quick bite, we had a beer and a tomato bruschetta - very good indeed!! Staff was attentive and quick, and they were real italians. Everything in only 15 mins!
Accomodating staff but rushed everything thus didn't feel relaxed. Did not have ore booked theatre info thus confusion and wasted valuable eating time. Wouldn't go again.
Occasionally we pop down there for lunch. The service does vary a bit, but the staff always try to be as friendly as time permits as it is a busy restaurant. Definitely above average Italian food, and not too badly priced, the desserts are really fab.
Decent pizza and not so good pasta dishes. The bruschettas were pretty disappointing as well as the tiramisú which didn't contain any coffee liquor. Good ambient, but it is not enough to make me come back. Also it's expensive for what you get.
Italian restaurant takes coperto like real italian restaurant, but they won't give you parmegiano to pasta
A disappointing pre theatre dinner. The food was mediocre Italian. Air conditioning was "Not available" on a very hot day. Staff were brusque and slap dash. Won't be frequenting again 😞
Decent atmosphere, nice staff, but absolutely tiny portions for a high price, and no-where near the best Italian food, you can get better quality for cheaper at many chains.
The restaurant looks nice but everything tastes like ready made supermarket food heated at the moment, even desserts look too industrial. The pizza wasn't cooked enough and it's served on a wooden board which makes it hard to cut it. Waiters are Italian but are annoyingly trying to upsell and are swiftly cleaning your table immediately after eating even when the restaurant is almost empty. It looks like a prompt service but it feels like they're asking you to leave. I'd advice to try many smaller dishes, you'll be slightly less disappointed and will have a chance to try some of the many items that look inviting on paper.
The Italian food was bland and had very little flavor. My friends and I were famished and none of us liked what we ordered (goat cheese ravioli, pizza and spaghetti Bolognese). The service was fast at first, but them our server started to avoid eye contact and would stop at other tables first before he came to us when called. The bathrooms are falling apart and are disgusting. I was right next to Her Majesty's theater and thought that for their extremely expensive dishes I would get my money's worth in quality. I was deeply mistaken. The desert was the only thing that Was worth eating there, I recommend the gnocchi & Nutella.
When we had our starters the waiter was very quick to take the plates away when we had barley finished , felt like he was trying to get rid of us quickly even though it wasn't even busy at the time we went. Then when my main came (clam linguini) it was cold so I sent it back. I was happy that they didn't just microwave the same plate but actually gave me a whole new portion , however the waiter didnt offer me any parmasean the second time round and my pasta was pretty clamless. Cocktails were nice though but definitely did not think waiter merited the £8 service charge .
Initially pleased with the flexibility of our booking when we were delayed. Unfortunately everything went downhill thereafter. I am never happy in restaurants where the lighting is so poor you can't read the menu. The waiters English was not too good and found it hard to understand him. Ordered some olives that were tasteless. The antipasti was poor with the Tuscan ham not tasting of anything. The olive oil on the table was not even good enough to fry chips in. My wife ordered what she thought was a beef Tagliatelle but arrived as a well prepared steak on it own. My seafood pasta seemed to be well cooked but then discovered the pasta was a solid block. Then I found lots of shell fragments from the mussels throughout the dish. The head waiter was very apologetic and took the offending items away and promptly replaced them. The wine we chose was a Nero D'avola again this was poor and doubt it's ever seen Sicily. All in all very disappointed and won't be going back.
Came here as it was the only place we could get a table for 4 pre theatre. Should have guessed why. The menu pricing was ambiguous and confusing. Only giving the price for starter and main together so that you had to ask for the price of each meal. I asked for salmon salad price 11.50 and it came with 5 pieces of smoked salmon ( didn't state this on the menu thought it would be proper salmon) 4 bits of avocado, some small slices of beetroot, with the rest made up of the toughest letter ever found. I could have sourced this and made it for a couple of quid. The rectangle pizzas did not fit the odd piece of wood serves on. They were too large for it hence making cutting difficult. The middle of them was not cooked properly. The Sicilian pasta had only a few cherry tomatoes. Overall the place is dire. Staff take plates, glasses, present food with not even the courtesy of asking how you are. We ended up £65 lighter for absolute rubbish. Never again. Pics to follow.
Awful, don't go there. Salmon salad: 2 green leaves and 2 pieces fumed salmon pieces, no dressing. Wine in the glass, not the quantity state in the menu.
Very naughty change manager. The pizza was burnt, not to be eaten. Despite the nice decor, I will never go there again.
Food is decent but service was awful. Staff were very unwelcoming, even rude. Wouldn't visit again just based on that.
Incredibly rude staff. Food was edible but really not enjoyable, which you would expect for that price. Would not visit again.
Well..... to think I got this recommended as part of a pre theatre dinner package. Don't bother! All starts well and doting, until they realise you're on the pre theatre package. Then.... starters (overcooked) virtually thrown at us, closely followed (literally seconds later) by the bland, overcooked Main. Do yourself a favour a book your theatre tickets seperately. There is absolutely loads more choice out on the streets without having to book. Only plus point is it's location to Theatreland and that's it....
The restaurant looks very nice, but the pizza I ordered - mozarella, anchovis, and capers tasted nothing but oil and cardboard. In addition.I was vary of beeing cutting the pizza on the wooden board that seemed to have seen its best day. My ffriend ordered a fresh orange juice which he said tasted a bit off.
Good pizza, but waitress did not tell me about peanuts in a dish nor do they state it on the menu. So I had an allergic reaction and had to give myself some injections!
