This is a must try spot in London! I went here for lunch and enjoyed the house sausage and cheddar croquettes to start. For the mains we ordered the battered monkfish and curry sauce, which was a dish to remember. I also ordered the grilled pork chop, it was so tender and juicy with perfect flavour and great with a side of greens. For a drink, I enjoyed the apple gin which I highly suggest. It’s refreshing and light.
Such a good lunch spot!! Came based on a recommendation from a friend and absolutely lived up to the expectation! You must get the pie!!
Do not miss out on this fantastic little french restaurant!! We tried the cod cheek slider with eel aioli! We could have eaten ten of those!!! We also tried the chicken pate holly crap it was so divine lived every bite! I had the pork belly with maple and my husband the bavette with burre blanc sauce both dishes were incredible!! We tried the beets with goat cheese and my god it was delicious. Also try the tartar my god it was full of flavor!! Absolutely love love this restaurant!! A must go in London Dinner or Lunch we went for lunch def go hungry so you cant try dessert!! Everything is made in house. Just mind blowing delicious french flare food!!!
Everything about this place was amazing. Every dish was 10/10, but the flatbread was INSANE
Amazing meal at Bistro Freddie! Enjoyed sitting at the bar, watching the Chefs working, carefully preparing amazing food! Kudos and thank you to the staff for making my night such a great experience!
intimate french inspired restaurant, the atmosphere is immaculate and quality of the products is high, still dreaming about that confit duck leg…
Just got back from here. The food is filllthy good. A diner with a fine dining style. Highly recommend eating at the bar so you get to watch the chefs work their magic. Easily the better of steak dishes in London.
Stunning from start to finish. Beautiful food and the service was excellent. Cosy, vibey atmosphere. Glad I had my birthday meal here
What a great way to start 2025! I had the fortune of dining at Bistro Freddie last night for a large group celebration. From start to finish the service and attention to detail paid by each member of staff was exquisite. THANK YOU. The chicken liver parfait with the quince was wow. So smooth and rich. The Guinness bread subtle. The Radicchio salad with candied walnuts, pear and blue cheese was a “house” (our table) favourite. The vibrant a colours and the quality of the produce really spoke for itself. Steak Frites. What could go wrong - besides everything? BF didn’t let us down. Probably one of the best steak frites I’ve had in London. The beef was so tender, not an inch overcooked. I was delighted by the smalls bits of juicy fat that would pop with flavour in my mouth. Not too overpowering, nor too much fat. Again homage to the great produce that BF has selected. The fries, crispy and yum…nothing worse than limp unseasoned fries. All the sauces satiating. We finished with sticky toffee pudding - apt for the winter time - and had a few a bottles of the Bistro Freddie house white wines to accompany the group set menu. It was all so well paired. Thank you so much for a wonderful time. I hope to be back.
Incredible food, great service! would recommend to sit at the bar and watch all the food get made. We had the steak tartare, flatbread with mussels, steak with bone marrow sauce, cod, artichokes and the sticky toffee pudding. Honestly cannot pick a favourite. All of the dishes were impeccable.
The atmosphere, the freshness of the food, Bistro Freddie is perfect for a chique yet laid-back dinner or a date night. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked medium-rare and still had all the juice. I recommend their bone marrow butter sauce to go with it. The crisp fries and salad perfectly accompanied the meal, and I loved their French wine selection as well. Pass the mousse and get the sticky toffee pudding as dessert to share.
Highly recommended!! We had beef tartare one of the best I ate, a sourdough pizza base with mussels on it cooked with butter and garlic was incredible ! The salad was delicious too ! The service was amazing everyone is so friendly and it’s a cool vibes
The flat bread has my heart, the cod was delightful and the steak cooked to perfection. Amazing staff, big thanks to Egli & susie they were amazing and very helpful with very good energy. Overall such an amazing experience
Absolutely incredible experience at Bistro Freddie! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is just perfect — vibrant yet relaxed, with that effortlessly cool bistro charm that makes you want to stay for hours. The service is exceptional; every detail is looked after with care and genuine attentiveness. The food? Outstanding. Every dish was beautifully executed, but the real star of the show has to be the pork and the gougère — both absolutely unforgettable. Perfectly balanced flavours, incredible textures, and the kind of cooking that makes you stop mid-conversation just to savour the bite. Bistro Freddie nails it on every level. Can’t wait to go back!
This is a lovely little informal bistro tucked away on a quiet street. This is not a restaurant with overbearing service or a place to expect a big fanfare on arrival, instead be chuffed with yourself that you have discovered a bastion of great craft in both the cooking and sourcing of ingredients. On a Saturday (11/10/25) lunchtime we were given a lovely table for two plus our small dog in a sunny window. My partner chose chicken parfait and I had wild mushroom flatbread to start both extremely tasty, the flat bread was comforting but not overfilling. We followed this with an aged sirloin, delicious with that proper beef dripping flavour and a pork chop with hazelnut praline and quince mustard, cooked to perfection, top quality meat. We ordered steamed carrots and a portion of fries, the carrots were top notch. Followed this with chocolate crèmeux (shared) and two glasses of luscious dessert wine, exquisite. You could come here and have a very reasonably priced lunch or spend a bit more on wine for a treat or really push the boat out, up to you. We got there at 12:45 and the room filled up steadily with a lovely talkative atmosphere. We were celebrating recent medical diagnosis (good) and this is a life affirming place. Thank you all N + A
Went for my 31st birthday. My partner booked (for restaurants reference: Rosie Whillock 7:15pm booking) and I have to say… the best food and service we’ve had EVER! We had a starter and a main each and shared a dessert. For drinks we went with a carafe of their house red and a negroni each at the end of the meal. In total it came to just over £200 with service charge and we were amazed and delighted. The starters: I had the steak tartare; rich, flavourful with the thinnest bread crouton ever! The egg was mixed in with the tartare itself which added to the richness and texture! My partner had the bread and mussels, the bread fluffy and soft with just a hint of crunch on it, and the mussels! I am not a fan of seafood but the fact that I ate half of her plate is testament to how good it was! It was my birthday after all! Mains: I had the Flat Iron Steak. Normally I would go for blue but after asking our (amazing) waiter/host Peter how best to have it he suggested medium rare. I then opted for the bone marrow butter which he said was the best choice. And let me tell you, this man does not miss! Big shout out to Peter! The steak was melt in your mouth level of cooked perfection, cliche words I know, but still very true words! And the bone marrow butter… like nectar of the gods! My partner had the Cod Schnitzel which was so flaky that the only problem with this whole meal was her trying to get her fish onto her cutlery it was cooked that good! Sides were French fries with an aioli dip and a side of garlic and butter bathed seasonal carrots. Which, again added to the dish. When combined together (them perfectly cooked fries soaked in the bone marrow butter were almost orgasmic) the dishes elevated to an even higher plane, for which, I did not think possible. Dessert: The chocolate mouse. I actually shed a tear. Light, but with enough decadence and just the right punch of cocoa to make it almost naughty. Then accompanied with a couple of slices of clementine and some sprinkled almonds on top. This dish, they have it to make sure your banging your fist on the table, head tilted back, looking like a poor imitation of the famous “I’ll have what she’s having.” scene in When Harry Met Sally… Service: Cannot fault anyone! Can only give the highest praise. Attentive, personal but not intrusive. The staff’s knowledge was unrivalled. We will be back as soon as possible! Thank you Bistro Freddie’s our new favourite restaurant and our now designated Anniversary Restaurant.
Good ambience, very cosy and stylish! Good service and friendly as well. Good meal for what you pay. Except quite far away but lovely bistro! Will visit again if in the areaaaaa 💓.
Unreal dinner. Superb service and loved the chefs. Head chef Alex very cool and loved explaining the dishes. Theo CDP was fantastic too. Can't wait to go back!
I had a very great experience. Food is really unique, the meat is great highly recommend. While we were waiting for our table to be ready the team offered us a glass of wine, I was quite impressed about that because it is not really common here in the uk however it’s a great way of treating customers properly. Overall highly recommended:) Thanks for the experience.
Absolute pleasure of dining at this lovely French British fusion spot, and from start to finish, the experience was great. Rebekah took such thoughtful care of us throughout the evening. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our occasion feel special. The white asparagus, a personal favorite and beautifully in season, was a standout. The cod was lush and buttery, paired with perfectly crisp French fries. We finished with the Marquise for dessert, which was rich, velvety, and an absolute treat. Thank you to the whole team for a meal that felt both indulgent and intimate. We’ll definitely be back.
Great atmosphere. Staff was attentive and the food was delicious. They made sure my son’s 21st was special and a great time was had by all. Thank you to the team.
Brilliant French cuisine, lovely staff. The octopus flatbread was basically a very elevated garlic bread, and I mean that as a compliment, the cod in the beurre blanc tartar sauce was heavenly, the sauce was like silk, the bread crumb perfectly crispy and the fish meaty and flaking away as you would want, before death by chocolate for dessert.
Loved this place! Small, cosy & authentic vibe with amazing service & staff. Sit at the bar to be mesmerised by the cooking! I had the cod schnitzel which was superb, but also had food envy of everything going out, especially the tartare, the steak and the flatbreads. Highly recommend a visit.
This was a great place to grab lunch. Even though the food was pricier, the taste was totally worth it! We got: - Sourdough bread (the butter was amazing) - Chicken caesar salad - Devonshire chicken (so soft and the skin was so crispy) - Pea ravioli - Fries (crispy and flavourful) - Roasted cabbage - Sticky toffee pudding (my favourite!)
Great food and service, perfect steak and the best sticky toffee pudding Staff were all very friendly and attentive
We went at lunch. Really buzzing atmosphere. The wine was excellent and the food was great. Everything you want from. a bistro; rich, well seasoned food cooked brilliantly. It’s a French bistro so if you don’t like garlic order carefully! 😂 We had an amazing time & will definitely come again.
A truly wonderful evening! From very friendly and attentive staff, to delicious food with generous portions. We had a group booking and everyone at the table loved it. We will all be coming back soon. I cannot recommend enough!
Had an absolutely amazing dinner at Bistro Freddie. All of the food was amazing and the atmosphere was warm & cosy - perfect for a dark winter's night. The crab crumpet with bisque starter was immense (although there were a few small pieces of shell in the crab which let it down - assume it's just little bits of attention to detail like this that mean the restaurant isn't getting a slightly higher Google rating as other than that I couldn't fault it).
Amazing food, amazing vibes and the service was impeccable. A specific mention to Susie who was our server and made our meal that bit extra special. Will definitely be returning!
We booked out this place for a team dinner with a set menu and had a wonderful time. The food and the wine were very good and the team had a lovely time. The vibes were good and cozy. Everything was very high quality.
We all had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon at Bistro Freddie, a real hidden gem, from the welcome on arrival, the service, the comfy seating, and the round table with a crisp white tablecloth! The food was amazing, we really didn’t know what to choose, so we ordered a variety of dishes and shared some of them. Everything was beautifully prepared, extremely fresh and very tasty. We had crunchy salads, garlic mushroom flatbreads, crab crumpets, pork chops, Toulouse sausages and a celeriac and Stilton tart, all washed down with some fabulous cocktails. As we left, my friend commented she would be dreaming of the pork chops forever. We will definitely be returning in the near future, thank you Bistro Freddie. Janice
Took my hubby here for his birthday and we opted to sit at the counter which was a very wise decision as could see the food prepared by the chefs. They also answered questions we had about the dishes, so an added bonus. We had been recommended and were not disappointed. Really lovely vibe in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and professional and always there when you needed them. The food was well presented and tasty. We had some of the delicious sour dough and cultured butter with some Comte Goujeres with our drinks. We then shared the Crab Crumpet and Steak Tartare - both lovely. My hubby then had the bavette steak which was perfectly cooked over a bbq grill and I had the pork chop with praline and mustard sauce. Was intrigued by the combination and it didn't disappoint. We then had chocolate cremeux (sublime) and the sticky toffee pudding for puds. Overall a really lovely experience. Not cheap but nowhere in London is, so overall we felt it value for money given the experience we had.
Honestly I was so impressed by this place. The restaurant is small but has a great feel to it, it’s light whilst being cosy and it feels intimate. The service was great and the food was absolutely fantastic. This place is an excellent example of quality cooking and delicious ingredients. I got the set lunch menu which included a mushroom flat bread - the flavours were incredible - I loved the buttery sauce it came with which added a richness to the fluffy flatbread. The steak and peppercorn sauce was equally excellent - cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious and generously poured. Even little details such as the fries and green salad were executed perfectly. The one standout for me was the value in this set menu - £24 for 2 generous courses that were delicious and almost perfectly executed is hard to come across these days. I highly recommend
Came on a Wednesday night with a friend, and when our table wasn’t quite ready, we were given a glass of champagne, although we only had to wait max 5 mins - a very lovely touch! Vibes were impeccable - sexy soundtrack, low lighting, and one of the chicest loos I’ve visited in a while. Food excellent too - I had anchovy eggs to start and beef tartare for main. Special mention to the service: super warm and friendly, but not overbearing. Been wanting to come to Bistro Freddie for a while, and it really lived up to expectations. Will be back asap!
This was our first visit and we were really impressed. It was our work Christmas party for seven of us. We shared a selection of starters, including the flatbread with mussels and the one with wild mushrooms. Dusty Knuckle sourdough on the menu was a lovely surprise too. All totally gorgeous. For mains, a few of us shared two Côte de Bœuf – not cheap, but sublime with the peppercorn sauce and beautifully crispy fries. The wine was terrific, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. Not cheap, but worth every penny. We will be back!
Booked this based on location and the TimeOut recommendation. Usually that can be hit and miss. This was a HIT! The food is great and true to French bistro roots without being pretentious or fussy. The crab crumpet and the mushroom flatbread were highlights. And the service was attentive, not too formal or overfamiliar, Goldilocks really. It was the perfect venue for an intimate catch up. It’s a new favourite!
Had a great dinner at Bistrot Freddie. The food was delicious and really well done. The service was spot on, friendly without being over the top. I loved the open kitchen, it adds to the atmosphere but there’s no smell at all, which is impressive. The menu has a nice balance, plenty of good choices without being too big. Overall, a really lovely place. I’d happily come back.
Had a fabulous lunch at Bistro Freddie today. Great atmosphere and the space is intimate yet didn’t feel cramped. The cocktails were limited but a good range of classics and they aced the Negroni. There are lots of menu options inc 2/3 course fixed price which are excellent value. We went a la carte and had mussels and beef tartare to start and an amazing chicken pie (to share) and a succulent sirloin steak. Managed to squeeze in a pud to share too as portions are very generous. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Call me old fashioned but I also love the attention to detail inc good quality linens. Definitely will go back and highly recommend.
I had a wonderful experience. The service was attentive, and the food exceeded my expectations. The flatbread with marinated brassicas was a standout, and even the chicory salad with blue cheese was surprisingly refreshing. The chicken was the clear winner—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The sticky toffee pudding was also delightful, with a crisp exterior that added a lovely texture. The only downside is the pricing. While the food is undeniably delicious, £26 for a chicken thigh with sauce and nothing else feels steep.
Candle lit braserrie with great service and good flavours. The John Dory was slightly too salty but otherwise well cooked and pork fillet was delicious!
Loved the food and wines at Bistro Freddie. The Moules Mariniere flatbread might be the best thing I have eaten lately, and the duck was also amazing (the the grill chef said the duck is his fav) The staff were all lovely and helpful; however they seem understaffed. There was a noticeable wait for things like wine orders, and near the end I had wait for almost half an hour for the dessert. However, they were nice enough to comp the dessert and coffee when they noticed. Overall, a pleasant experience!
Incredibly good food. Incredible trained staff. The level of care and attention to details goes unbeaten. The only point which is the reason why I am not giving 5 stars is the price. We've ordered 3 starters, 2 sides, 2 desserts and half liter of rose wine and the bill was over 150£ which considered the amount of food we ate, is quite expensive. You can see from the pictures how small the plates are. Regardless, I'll be coming back and choose better dishes for the price!
Went for dinner with a friend and the atmosphere is really beautiful, maybe a tiny bit loud. We had a seat at the counter where you can see the chefs prepping all the meals and everything looked amazing. The service is impeccable and the food is really good. Absolutely loved the flatbread with mushrooms, not blown away by the chicken pie tho. Will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu!
The food is exceptional - very classic but served in a modern and polished way. The crab crumpet is super interesting and something I've not tried before. The Confit duck leg was a well balanced dish and not too heavy. Unfortunately the service was average, which I'm sure is an anomaly and it's generally very good. We went at lunch time and there was only 1 dedicated waiter it seemed, with the front of house helping out occasionally. All very polite but it wasn't massively attentive.
Really excellent service at a comfortable table. Very good wine list catering for most wallets. Reasonably priced drinks. Very very good food except steak sauce and cavalo nero were cold. Hot sauce was supplied on request and cavalo was taken off the bill despite us eating it. So really a near perfect dining experience including the best cote de boeuf I think I’ve ever eaten. Not cheap here but most enjoyable.
I’ve been really excited to try Bistro Freddie, especially for the viral chicken pot pie, but was disappointed to find it had been replaced with a pork version, which I don’t eat. So, we opted for the steak, ordered medium, but received it well done. Thankfully, the staff was very accommodating and quickly replaced it with a medium cooked steak and even compensated with extra fries. The steak was good, though I was the only one who enjoyed its charcoal-like crust. The starters were OK; the flatbread had a distinct grilled taste that went well with the sweet corn, but it still felt like something was missing. Thankfully, the meal ended on a high note with their phenomenal dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was easily a 9/10, but the highlight was the chocolate tart with coffee ice cream. Honestly, I’d return to Bistro Freddie, but it would be just for the dessert.
Bistro Freddie serves beautiful food in a beautiful space, but I was hoping for a little more attention to detail. Obviously there are great chefs directing the cuisine, our night just didn’t feel carefully orchestrated. A lot of the food looked great, few things lacked balanced seasoning. Spot on: chicken liver parfait, squid with sauce vierge (delicious!), cod with beurre blanc tartar. So-so: mussels flatbread, green beans. The salad, I didn’t try as there was a fly on top of our greens. Stuff happens. I appreciate the green beans being comped. Service was nice, prompt. We were greeted with the “we’ll need your seats by 8:15” line when our reservation was for 6:15 at the bar. Though we didn’t feel rushed, it’s not the best thing to hear upfront as there are tactful ways to communicate this (closer to 8:00, maybe). Atmosphere is posh, stylish. Lastly, our bill was printed on a receipt and the square reader charged us for about double the amount, which I caught after tapping to pay. I wish I’d caught it sooner, or that the bill was double checked by front of house before being handed to me. Accidental charges while traveling in a foreign country are inconvenient, that’s all. Stuff happens. Thank you for considering my feedback.
The food was great, but the experience was dampened by how we were rushed out. Around 7:51pm the manager (big gentleman in navy/black) started reminding us several times that we had to leave by 8:15pm. We already understood the time limit, but once you’ve told customers, repeating it several times (and saying “I’m already being nice giving you extra time”) just felt incredibly unnecessary and hostile 😬 We left by 8:14pm, so it’s not like we overstayed, and there was no one waiting. The constant reminders and staring made the end of the meal uncomfortable, not what you’d expect at this type of restaurant.
The food was good; the duck was cooked well. Although the restaurant is quite small, the open kitchen concept was nice. Unfortunately, what let the whole evening down was the service. As we sat down, we had been informed by one of the waitresses that the restaurant required the table back by 8:15pm. Our booking was at 6pm so of course that was perfectly acceptable. However, the manager/waiter dressed in black provided terrible service. We felt very uncomfortable the whole night and he kept reminding us they required the table back by 8:15pm, even though we had plenty of time left. It’s fine to inform customers once that they require the table back by a certain time when we’re seated, or if we had run over, but repeatedly reminding us was not acceptable and will just make customers feel very rushed and unwelcome. After our main meals were finished, he offered us the dessert menu, which we just wanted to look at because we were full already, but he quickly informed us that there are only 2 options because again they “required the table back by 8:15pm” in a very uninviting and unprofessional manner. We ended up just getting the bill so we could leave. Even as our friend went to visit the restrooms after paying, he was still rushing us to leave. We returned the table back to them and left before 8:15pm. There wasn’t even any customers waiting as we left. I’d understand more if there was a queue of customers waiting, but there wasn’t. Although the food was good, it was nothing outstanding, especially for the price, and of course the service completely let it down, which you don’t expect from a restaurant like this. It’s the worst service I’ve ever received here in London.
Food is just average - salad very salty and fries clearly from frozen. Don't sit at the bar unless you want to watch your food being thrown around onto plastic cutting boards with bare, unclean hands. Not surprised about the 2 out of 5 hygiene rating. There are many other places in London to go with better food and better vibe.
