What an incredible experience! This venue is fantastic, but it was Rohan who truly made our night. Their service was amazing and they were an absolute superstar.

Many thanks to Chak89 and Nick for saving the day. We were advised this may be a place we could use for a family gathering, and we called and spoke to Nick just as he was finishing for the day. He was happy to wait around for us to get over there and then spent the next hour advising us on the venue, and our options for the day we were planning. After some thought we also decided to arrange for the 4 star chef they provide to supply the food, so all we had to supply for the day were the drinks. Everything was taken care of, and on the day we had their staff serving the food which was exceptional. And when everything was over we did not have to worry about doing anything as not only did they set the venue up, but they also cleaned up after we left. Nick, Many Thanks for a well managed evening, we will definitely keep you in mind if we ever require a venue in the future. We will also recommend you to anyone who may need a place to hold an event. Maximum stars.

Despite worrying about the logistics going into the Wedding event, on the day Brijesh and his team were fantastic. Looked after us as the hosts, then made sure the guests were comfortable and responded to any of our requests immediately. Decor and big room are brilliant. The speakers can be better for the microphone and music however. Food was really good too, met the spec. The starters were sensational, the Lamb Karahi for mains and Gajar Halwa were both particularly delicious.

We booked Chak 89 for a funeral reception, and the team showed so much compassion and professionalism. The staff handled everything with care and respect, making a difficult day much easier for our family. The hall was set up beautifully — simple yet elegant — and the service from start to finish was excellent. The management were calm, understanding, and flexible with our needs. Rohan operational manager was extremely intelligent with so much knowledge of what he is doing no doubt why he chose Hospitality ♥️ The catering was done beautifully with a selection of carabian & Jamaican food and everyone commented on how lovely the food was. The staff’s kind smiles and thoughtful gestures meant so much to us. Highly recommend Chak 89 for any occasion

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had our engagement party at Chak 89, and it was the most beautiful night! The hall looked stunning, the stage setup was impressive, and the staff were incredibly attentive. Everyone from the waiters to the managers had such friendly and professional attitudes — you could tell they genuinely cared about making the event special. The food was a delightful mix of Pakistani and Indian dishes, and guests couldn’t stop praising it. Plenty of space for dancing and entertainment, and the parking area was huge. Fantastic service, great atmosphere, and wonderful people — 10/10!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place is absolutely fantastic for parties, weddings, and all kinds of celebrations. The ambiance, staff, and food are all top-notch — everything comes together perfectly to make any event special. And then there’s Rohan Tak, the manager — the guy’s a legend. He doesn’t just manage, he makes things happen. Went way beyond what anyone could expect. This is one of the best venues in London highly recommend - do give it a try.

This is fantastic place or banquet hall for any occasion or family occasion or gathering party. We had ring ceremony events there. They specifically Very well organised helpful and well approaching in service I have no words for there best service in London Mr. Natikbhai and I don’t remember the organiser but both nice best advicer and helpful proper support and suggestions and kept promises . helping staff and shef they all done good fentastic job Food made with special care nice and tasty and hygienically by shef No more words but whole staff including management and security and parking guy they all fentastic job done Food is tasty welcome drink starter main and dessert everything is nice Music facility and decorating suff and service as good aswell and nice. The atmosphere at Chak 89 is perfect for any event, and the food selection is second to none. I’ve tried a range of dishes, from Indian samosas to African grilled meats, and each one was fantastic. The staff is friendly and professional, and they really know how to make an event memorable!

Attended a birthday party here, and I was truly impressed by how well everything was organized. The venue is large but intimate, and the food is a fusion of cultures. I loved the variety—they serve everything from spicy African dishes to flavorful Indian curries. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion.

Staff at chak 89 were supportive all the way from the day I booked my event till the event day.The banquet hall is glamorous and perfect for queen befitting party.Rohan was particularly very helpful and his customer service support is highly commendable. Chak 89 was a great pick, the food was delicious and everyone who came enjoyed all of it thoroughly. The space provided was just right for the number of people that came, not too big but not too small either. On top of that gurpreet was a great guide, she managed the event efficiently. Moreover, the staff was rapid with collecting plates after people ate their food, the tables were almost always clean which was great.

An absolutely amazing venue and Staff. These staff are tremendously helpful and literally go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met. The Caribbean food prepared by D’s Islandgrill for the wedding we attended was out of this world amazing with zero complaints. With over 200 guest their efficiency was on point.

We had 21st birthday function in suite 3, I would recommend them however there are 3 venues and could get busy thus have an impact on car park. Saying that we had good service provided from Chak89

Hidden away in the Mitcham back roads, this a venue that requires private transport (as opposed to public) and the ability to deal with stairs (although there are small lifts). To be brutally honest it is a place with pretension, from the fake grass outside to the shabby entrance inside, it looks as if it needs a good clean. The impression is not helped by the toilet door hanging on one hinge and requiring a bit of force to open. The toilets are impressive - golden sinks and golden thrones, the latter being let down by the fact that to enter the stall one has to literally squeeze against the wall and the toilet to get round the door. The entrance hall upstairs has a massive chandelier along the length of the slightly-too-low ceiling. This opens out into a venue that is perfect for weddings and has an Indian Wedding Hall vibe that almost works. It is again let down by an overall feeling of being past its prime. Catering appeared to be "ok", not great. Are you spotting the theme running through this? The vegetarian offering was dire - frozen mixed veg with an insipid sauce - and the salad appeared to be shop-bought lettuce and coleslaw. However, I must say that I don't know if the venue did the catering or not. Similarly, bar was OK but soon ran out of ice. Seats and tables were pretty much the usual fare but it was the gold cutlery and gold-tinged plates that brought me back to a typical Indian-themed wedding. As i said, the venue was ok, a bit pretentious and certainly past it's prime and in need of a lick of paint. The staff were great, really cannot fault them.

Great space for events, tiled floor was a bit slippery, and the back fell of one of the chairs, but aside from that everything was very elegant and the evening was grand. Staff are not security guards, and it was a little off putting to see them in the space where guests were, standing guard and observing people. Very Intimidating!

Chak 89 has various halls for every occasion for hire at a reasonable price. you would have to provide your drinks as there don't have a licence for them. It has a few parking spaces which help but are limited.

Great wedding reception here . Venue is a little different as the hall is on the second floor access via steep stairs or lift . A very good space and very good catering really helpful managers .

Lovely venue where we attended for a wedding. The food was great catered for by Nick Mizi and Sheiks team and the service was great. Would recommend.

We recently hosted an event at Chak 89, and the experience was a noticeable improvement over a previous one we had there. The food this time was genuinely excellent, it was fresh, well-presented, and received a lot of praise from our guests. Crockery and table settings were also much better than before, and there were some welcome additions on the day such as live food stations and a chai stand, which added to the overall experience. However, there are still several areas that need attention. The biggest issue is the lack of coordination and communication among the staff. Throughout the planning process, we had to keep repeating details to different team members, as it seemed nothing was properly handed over internally. On the day itself, basic things like the lighting and sound system weren’t ready until after guests had already arrived, which created unnecessary stress at a key moment. There were also some visible signs of neglect around the venue. The stage cushions were dirty, the flooring was extremely sticky, the lift was broken which caused problems especially with elder guests and although the hall has a few nice features, it feels quite dated overall. These things may seem small individually, but they do affect the overall impression, especially during important events like weddings or receptions. While our previous experience with the venue was disappointing, this time around was much more positive. The food and added touches made a strong impression, and our guests had a great time. That said, for the price range Chak 89 sits in, there are other venues that offer a more polished and consistently reliable service. With better staff coordination and some overdue maintenance, Chak 89 could regain its former reputation, but as it stands, it’s a mixed experience with clear strengths and weaknesses.

The kitchen was absolutely disgusting. We had to clean it before we could even beginning packing out our equipment. The cupboards were filthy and covered with mouse/rats droppings. The money that they charge to rent the venue after each event they could hire cleaners to give the kitchen a good clean. If they were to do that after every event their kitchen would look completely different. I understand with big venues like this that you can’t avoid mice but if you are cleaning the environment it would not look like this.

Oh Gosh what can I say about this place 😬. I gave it 2 stars due to the fact is a large venue and has a good amount of parking. Those are the only good points I can really say about this place. Bad points: • The building is in need of maintenance and repair. I have visited twice in the last year and the same problems a still very visible. -Broken lift. -No disabled toilet. -2 broken toilets in the female toilet. - Broken tiles at the entrance. - Shabby decor - horrible paint job • Toilets - Blacked out window in the female toilets, so no ventilation. - Toilet smells like a public urinal that has never seen a cleaner (hold your breath ladies). - Disabled toilet being used as storage. • Outside - Good amount of parking however much of the car park is being used to store crates which ruins the outside. As a whole I would never host any type of event here even if it was free. The owner needs to shut it down for a few months and repair and refurbish if they want a space people will enjoy and come back to.

AVOID AT ALL COST. Let me start by saying that. I'm not sure where to begin… October 10th 2025 was my grandfather's funeral. Prior to this date (at least 3 weeks before), we visited Chak89 maybe 4 or 5 times and yes, the staff was friendly and seemed incredibly accommodating. We were made promises such as cleaning (chairs, toilets, kitchen etc) would happen on the morning of 10th and staff would be on site to help (technical support). On the day itself, this was far from what happened. We had over 100+ guests in attendance and not only were guests having to clean their chairs, highly embarrassing (as per the photos), but the bar, toilets and chairs were disgusting. Tech support was nowhere to be seen on the day. I brought my own projector as their one was broken, and on the morning of the funeral, we had guests entering whilst we're rushing around trying to fix the lighting, speakers and projector. Again, highly embarrassing. The bar was so dirty we felt sick. We had to quickly go out and buy cleaning material and clean ourselves. Cobwebs, drinks halve open left in the fridge and crushed up tissues in the bar area. The above is only the tip of the iceberg and what hurts even more was not only did we have to pay the amount in FULL before the event itself, but when we visited the head office which is on-site on a few days after the event (13th October), they took no responsibility whatsoever for any of the above even though we had CLEAR evidence to suggest they have SCAMMED us out of £K's. Chak89 responded with, “...we provided you the best service”. Which translated to, we should be grateful! Horrific behavior. The car park was in complete chaos. They had multiple events on, which led to a clash of those arriving vs those leaving. ...Ladies and gentleman, from the photos (attached) does this look like a premium standard service to you?! The only reason why we're not taking legal action is because despite all the above, we're still grieving and simply want to move on now but Chak89 should be AVOIDED at all cost! On a final note, Chak89, if you would like to take responsibility for the above, we are open to a discussion on the basis that we should be compensated. It's the humane thing to do!

Where do I begin. Well I usually don’t do posts such as the one I’m about to do, and have taken some time, so I could write a honest assessment. CHAK89 glitters with gold and chandeliers in every room. However, scratch the surface and things are not what they appear to be. Event manager, Rohan presents as helpful and pleasant to gather with his colleague. Very insistent with wanting you to do a review in google, BEFORE the event. I suspect that others have done this, therefore the 5 star reviews, may not be based on their function end. Despite Rohan bragging having over 30 bookings, I hope potential users are not tricked into making a review before their function. Please be aware and proceed with caution!! I was promised a “Gold Package” and received MUCH, MUCH, MUCH less. Dirty stained tablecloths, kitchen dirty, toilets dirty and stunk of urine. Bar area dirty with cobwebs and dirty glasses under the bar top, coolers not working properly. No technical support available on the day, and in fact, no technical equipment were working on the day of my function. Rohan and his colleague frantically trying to find microphones to replace. After the third attempt, I gave up and asked them not to bother! They exited very quickly, but could sense the anger in my tone. There is No exclusivity and no security, as other guests (males) were entering my function asking for beers, which I bought. This was a SEVERE safeguarding issue, as had children at my function. No security, no car park attendants. Cars blocked by other guests attending other functions, in the other banqueting suites. Had to wait a long period of time, for the cars to be moved. No organisation at all! Caterers informed CHAK89 numerous times that the kitchen requires a “deep clean”. This still has not be done after so many years and previous reviews. Some reviews reports of rat droppings..I saw loads of traps in the kitchens and near exit points. Floors dirty and smelly very unpleasant. Electrical loose lives wires, taped up by brown tape- a huge hazard and breaches health and safety. No instructions given at the time of booking of procedure in an event of a fire. Guests had to clean their own chairs, majority were stained, some had dried blood, whilst many had holes with the back of the chairs, loose. No professional cleaner used anywhere , instead found out it was the tech man, who speaks very little English, moping the floors stained with bleach and cleaning the toilets. Was informed that cleaners would come before my guests would arrive. Pictures below were taken at 1:45pm. No cleaners arrived, hence the state of the conditions of equipments, although this was meant to be included in the hire. I Made known my complaints to Rohan, however he stated that “These Things Happens”. No accountability and no responsibility taken by either managers, which is extremely sad, as this venue has a lot of potential, but it is being run into the ground due to lack of detail with their furniture, lack of staff, lack of honesty, and lack of investment. Being within the event family, I will always support small businesses trying to make their way in life, but CHAK89 is sadly only interested in getting your money and deceiving you into parting with your money. They do not invest in this company and is apparent when you see the expensive cars that they all drive. Your returns? Very little to be happy with. Sadly upon offering to me another use of the hall, I declined, as reading reviews, there appears to be an ongoing problem with hygiene, lack of staffing, equipments not working etc… nothing has changed, and unless there is “wake up call”, it will continue as they are. I only hope that no one gets hurt, or anything negatively escalates at one of their events. Such a shame!!

In the past, I hosted events, but I will never do so again. Brij the Owner doesn't honor, the contract. Make sure to write everything down and gather evidence. This place is currently a health and safety hazard. The toilets are absolutely filfy. Brij needs to step back and let his staff do the contract. He will be impolite and put them down. His staff are very helpful but Brij has an itch to talk about all the dishes when his a vegetarian himself. We had to withdraw our event as the promised works were not finished. The food tasting was below standard. Food use to be good. There are many better venues out there. You can see from the pics the works are appauling. Please do not waste your time with Brij unless you have every point written down. After payment, he will not honour the contract. I will file formal proceedings for failure to honour the contract. Brij promised completion of works before our event and this was a big let down. The new tiles are not fit for purpose. You will end up slipping. Avoid booking and go somewhere else.

I hired Chak89, for my wedding on 22nd June 2024. I was verbally assured in October 2023, prior to booking the venue, that the venue was being upgraded and that I would have sole use of the premises on the day of my wedding. I signed the contract on 17th October 2023, on the understanding that all the works would be completed in January 2024, well in advance of the date of my wedding, as they had a lot of work going on (new lifts, etc). However, the work was not completed, and the venue was, and continues to be, a building site with dust, dirt and equipment was on everything and everywhere. No proper cleaning took place prior to us arriving and even though the wedding planner noted all the dust, dirt and grime and told staff it was not cleaned. Another wedding was also taking place on the agreed date. We went for the food tasting on Monday 27th May 2024 and at this time the premises was a building site and the food that they provided for us to taste was not fresh We went to the venue again 17th June 2024 to finalise everything. The event Co-Ordinator, Nick, stated that the venue will be ready for our special day. When our wedding planner arrived, she was struck by the condition of the function room that we would be using for our ceremony. Nick stated that the room was in the process of being upgraded and that it would be completed before our ceremony. This was not the case as on the day no work had been done, Our wedding planner asked for 80 chairs to be laid out but only 40 was set up. She asked Nick to ensure the space was cleaned and it was not. The mirrors were filthy, and the entrance doors covered in dust. There were also workmen in the ‘restaurant area’ drilling when guests arrived There was also building equipment right in front of the lift with an opened cement bag and cement powder all over the floor when people arrived. Whilst the ceremony was taking place our guests couldn’t hear all the service because the event downstairs was blasting their music to test the system. One of our guests had to go downstairs to tell them to turn off the music. Interestingly, their music was very loud - much louder than our wedding music which was restricted, and even cut out during the reception. When the wedding planner arrived, she noticed that some of the chairs, the cutlery and some of the glasses were dirty. Chandana, our event coordinator, promised to clean the chairs and check all cutlery; however, nothing was done. The food was cold as the chafing dishes did not have burners underneath them. On further inspection by my wedding planner and various guests, the kitchen itself was also dirty. This is extremely poor hygiene and well below what we expected. Also, there was a lack of availability of the basics, such as napkins, available. Our wedding planner continually had to ask for more napkins, and it was always a struggle to have these replenished. I have no idea why because they were incredibly cheap. In the end, two of the guests went to Asda and bought some. The toilets were not cleaned; and toilet roll ran out. The gent’s toilets were a disgrace with a half full urinal, a hole in the wall next to the other urinal and filthy walls. They didn’t account for the fact that they were vegetarians & and guests with allergies in the wedding party, a guest had to direct one of the servers not to use the same utensil to serve the chicken as the fish, and other foods. Your venue is a building site, and was not fit for purpose, I would NEVER recommend this venue to anyone it should be shut down. instead of closing the venue to complete the works, all you think about is MONEY instead of peoples Health & Safety. I would preferred to give them zero stars, but was not possible. For all those that haven't yet got your deposit back, go to consumer advice, like I did and Chak89 will return your deposit.

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS BUT THIS PLACE I HAD TO. DONE A WEDDING HERE AND THEY HAVE RATS !!! RATE IN THE KITCHEN AND RATS IN THE WEDDING HALL GOING UNDER THE TABLES . I’m appalled I TOLD THE CARETAKER . He is from Sri Lanka speaking Tamil I think … HE IS SO SO SO RUDE AND DIDNT CARE AT ALL .he smelt like body odour too dirty clothes and he’s handling food . Worst service .. WE LEFT OUT ARCH HERE TOO AND HE BROKE THE WHOLE ARCH AND THREW IT IN A CUPBOARD . No decency to even say sorry .. this is the worst place to ever get married … RATS ALLONG WITH NO CARE AND NO Customer SERVICE .. filthy inside aswell I’m so so angry we even chose to come to this place

***Revised***** I have shared my concerns privately with the venue and chosen to revise this review. I will however say to many people considering this venue to have more effective communication, know what you want and hire an event planner, a decorator is not a planner. They manage all the day to day logistics and on the day of the event. This might make a difference working with Chak 89. Good luck
