We had a lovely dinner at Hausu, everything we ordered was so flavourful and the portion sizes were great. Also super friendly staff and our waitress Rose was the best! Will definitely come back again

Amazing food in a stunning venue all helped along by brilliant staff who are lovely, friendly and chatty. The food really is excellent and the washroom is an unbelievable blast from the past. We went back it was so good and we were not disappointed!! Ida and the team provide a wonderful welcome and very helpful throughout!! 10/10

Hausu has become a firm favourite of mine not just in SE but in London overall. The atmosphere is relaxed but intentional, and you can tell how much consideration has gone into making the space a special dining destination. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing and staff were all too happy to help when we needed guidance. The menu spoke for itself and we loved every recommendation but special mention goes to the tomato fritters, the scallop in XO sauce and the steak.

I’d never heard of this place (oddly as I’m based in south!) but went ahead to reserve a a spot for a treat night for me and my partner. Well, it did not disappoint at all - in fact we both left saying it was the best meal out we’d had in a long time, both in ambience and the food. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, the sommelier was great too and she was incredibly enthusiastic and kind when the wine list was somewhat overwhelming. The pickle martini was bang on, as for the food - the hake and gouachang was the highlight. The raw tuna slices in soy and lime leaf so damn delicious and delicate! The famous scallop and prawn toast lived up to its hype. Lastly, we sat at the bar overlooking the small kitchen. I fondly watched the chefs work together seamlessly like a school of fish, I think a young woman was in training and you could see the care going into helping her learn her trade. It was really quite special. 5 stars from me!

Really incredible experience! The food was delicious, every single thing we got was so tatsy. The oysters were some of the best we’ve ever had. The lamb belly was unreal, one of the best dishes I can remember having. The service was also great, everyone was lovely. The vibe of the resturant are very sexy and cool and we’ll definitely be going back.

Dinner experience worth a visit. We order the set menu and everything was well prepared.

Lovely service, atmosphere, and one of the best steaks I’ve had in London.

Had a really wonderful dinner here. We went for the early set and added the prawn toast and some bread. We had great service and the atmosphere was great. The Martini and the rice ice cream were both great. We're going to recreate the five spice caramel at home!

Really cool spot right next to Peckham rye station. Everything we tried was delicious, but our favourites were the scallop and prawn toast, the crab noodle, and the toasted rice ice cream (which I’ve been thinking about ever since). Wine list and cocktails also excellent, especially the plum and rhubarb sour and the coconut daiquiri (surprisingly sophisticated, and very moreish!) Impeccable service from start to finish, with lovely atmosphere music. Will undoubtedly be back soon to try the rest of the menu!

From start to finish everything was wonderful! Do yourself a favour and book. Starting from the top, our sever Molly was great! She made us feel very welcome, explained the menu and didn't try to oversell and make us over order as you see in a lot of other restaurants. Her recommendation were spot on. Everything we order was impeccable. The dishes were well timed in between. Food was delicious and the cocktaila were great too. We took our time and while there was a booking right after us, we didn't feel rushed. We were welcomed to have a drink (and any potential desert) in the other part of the restaurant. Which was lovely. Great music selection, friendly staff, great drinks, incredible food. I'm very excited for my next visit. It's another beautiful gem in Peckham that fits so well here. Thank you!

Just had dinner at Hausu Peckham and it absolutely delivered. The food was excellent across the board, but the standout for me was the ox heart ragù - rich, deeply savoury and cooked to perfection. The side of potatoes deserves a special mention too: simple, golden and ridiculously moreish. The vibe is warm and sociable, the kind of place that feels instantly lively and welcoming. It does get quite loud once it fills up, so not one for hushed conversations but perfect if you’re after a buzzy, shared-table energy. Would happily go back (and order that ragù again in a heartbeat).

My favourite restaurant in London. The menu is extremely creative and changed a lot - so even though I visited multiple times I always got to try new and exciting dishes. Especially their fish and seafood based dishes are exceptional! Staff is very welcoming and the service is superb. Also for this quality of cuisine it’s good value for London-standards! I’ll definetely keep visiting :)

Lovely setting in the old station building, innovative and creative menu with a great drinks menu to accompany. The menu has a wide range of interesting dishes, some classics with a modern twist and fresh ingredients. The setting is quirky and trendy, a small intimate dining space and a fantastic team. A true gem of a place in SE15!

An amazing intimate dining experience and a cosy atmosphere. Food was so unique and delicious, I would definitely recommend getting a little bit of everything. Friendly and warm staff. Highly recommended.

We came for Saturday lunch and really enjoyed the food and overall vibe. Between the two of us, we shared the scallop and prawn toast (nice crunch and flavour), grilled scallop with xo cream (nicely cooked and good flavour), yellow peaches, mozzarella, basil (fresh), tomatoes, artichoke with green garlic (also nice and seasonal and perfect for a summer day), lemon butter noodles (simple but really tasty), lamb with green hot sauce (the sauce wasn’t spicy - it was more like a salsa verde but it was still nice, just not what I expected based on the “hot” description) and side of potatoes (can't go wrong) and the strawberry eclair (the cream and filling were a bit too sweet for me). The service was helpful and friendly. The only downside, which was outside the restaurant’s control, was a really loud group nearby and with the acoustics, it felt like we had to shout to hear each other.

I had dinner with my son Ugo on Tuesday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambience was good and the staff very good and helpful (I was early for our booking and they offered me a complimentary drink while l waited for my son to arrive). We were on the counter table and it was splendid watching our food made from start to finish). We loved every moment of our time. Kudos to the team of staff that work there. We will surely visit again.

This place was senSAYshenul. Sensational. Literally best restaurant I've been to all year. Choose great vibes for everyone, choose sitting in the back if you want more a more refined vibe, choose upstairs for the DJ or choose sitting at the bar to creepily stare at the chefs. Shut up and choose to eat the hake bisque. Choose the crab crumpet and choose to order a martini. Choose the black rice and shrimps with squid ink and make sure, without fial, you choose the toasted rice ice cream. Literally so good. Service was great too. Toilets also very cool IYKYK. Great for parties of all sizes.

Incredible - everything from the cocktails to the nibbles to the starters, mains and desserts. Loved trying lots of different items. Torched mackerel a highlight, but the lamb main also faultless. The martini was phenomenal. Can't wait to return.

It’s absolutely amazing. The food was great, no misses at all. When I got to restaurants, things what I hope for. Excellent good, great service and an amazing atmosphere. I had the oysters, prawn toast, pickles, lemon sole, pasta, potatoes and the salad. Everything was delicious.

I had an amazing meal here last night. Every dish was interesting and delicious. My smoky sour guava mescal margarita was incredible. It’s one of my favourite meals ever - it was just so delicious. Especially loved dads broth, the prawn toast ( insanely good ) and the tuna. You have to go.

Service was so friendly and attentive. Some dishes didn’t blow me out of the water but some delicious and the service really made it by the lovely staff members. They accommodated my allergies with ease and went out their way to do so. Would definitely come back again :)

10/10 THE best restaurant experience. The staff. The vibe. The setting. Each and every dish we ordered was out of this world. Could not recommend more!

Banging lunch service and great value if you go for the set menu. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Highlights include lemon noodle number, potatoes and pork. Squid rice also slapped. Can tell this place has got some top chefs. Service great too. Stomach full and feeling satisfied.

We went here for my pre 40th birthday celebrations got to the restaurant and somehow the booking didn’t go through even though we thought we had booked, the team were super helpful and attentive and gave us a seat in the main area! The team were super helpful in suggesting food and the wine recommendation was spot on 👌🏻! The food is absolutely incredible - small plates which were perfect for sharing - the food was something different but super tasty!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! There was such a cool vibe will definitely return THANK YOU for a fab evening 🙌🏼❤️

Carolina served us for our 4 year anniversary and she was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and the right cocktails and made the evening so special. Thanks Carolina! Amazing food and great vibes. Would highly highly recommend

Food is epic, the starters / sides are all very reasonably priced too. Lemon Butter Noodles and Beef Tartate were my highlights. Also great cocktails and super extensive wine list.

Hats off to Hausu. From start to finish the brother and sister duo served seriously satisfying drinks and delightfully delicious plates of food. 5 stars all round. Get the prawn toast. Get the ragu toast. Get the panelle (the standout for me!). Get the lamb. Have an apple margarita and a Gibson martini with pickle juice. You’ll not be disappointed.

Highly recommend! We had such an amazing evening. The staff were so friendly and so knowledgeable about the menu. The food was absolutely divine and the selection of wines was excellent. Love the hi-fi sound system and decor. Will definitely return! Perfect for a date night.

the best meal I have had in London in a very long time. It was almost flawless. Beautiful space with great music. We were made welcome immediately by a professional and super nice waiter. We were lucky enough to have a counter seat watching the kitchen brigade operating like poetry in mission led by a very focused and inspiring head chef. Then we had incredible dish after incredible dish, accompanied by amazing wine by the glass. Each plate was stunning, from the best beef tartare I’ve had in my life, to a crab crumpet, to Ling, Lamb, chocolate delice and choux buns. The reason I'm not focusing on describing what we had in detail is because the menu changes regularly. I have absolute faith that whatever is on the menu will be superbly executed, imaginative and bloody lovely. As soon as I finish this review I’m rebooking and taking all my friends. Truly one of the best London restaurants right now.

Wonderful evening at Hausu on a Fri night. The food was interesting, tasty and beautifully presented. The wait staff were very patient with us, provided all the details re ingredients we didn't know and allergens. We had a selection of the small plates as we like sharing and trying out things. Highlights were the Ragu toast, the scallop & prawn toast, scallops, squid ink risotto and toasted rice ice cream. I really enjoyed the thyme lemonade too. Very cool vibe and they were playing great music. It did get a little loud by the time we left, very chatty crowd and acoustics in the ground floor dining room were probably partly to fault but it didn't spoil the evening. A place to sit, relax & gossip with friends more than a romantic Tete a tete.

Right next to Peckham Rye station this restaurant has lots of lovely small plates for sharing. Oysters were especially nice and the food came quickly. Lots of staff were working the evening we came which was good but struggled to get good rapport with our server. Lovely atmosphere and I loved the original toilet features.

The steak was probably the best I’ve ever had and definitely a highlight!! The service was lovely but did take quite a while between each course. The prawn toast wasn’t as good as I expected and the music was v v loud inside! However really reasonable pricing. So overall 4/5! 🙂

Great atmosphere, cozy and intimate, good date vibes. We were a group of 4 and had a fair number of dietary restrictions which they could accommodate, sharing a number of plates and ordering a specific veggie main. Good wine selection and recommendations too.

Oysters unreal, lots of bones in the lemon sole. Ragu gnocchi also very good. Staff attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Lovely atmosphere in a space that was part of the station.

service was slow & chaotic but our waiter was lovely. mussels portion was tiny but highlight was definitely the scallop and prawn toast, chicken skewers and pork belly!

This place is cool, great cocktails, very lovely attentive staff. I was disappointed when the in house menu didn’t reflect the menu online, but what we did order, particularly the pumpkin dish, was delicious! I get it’s so expensive to open & run restaurants in London (it also spenny to dine out) but I wish some would invest a bit in some noise dampening to make the ambient noise less overbearing. The overall experience could be so much more enjoyable if so.

Only popped in for a takeaway coffee at midday. Very conveniently located right next to the station entrance. Not the greatest beans but was quite a decent cortado. Pastries looked ok. It's clearly primarily a restaurant so did not expect too much cafe wise.

L

Was really looking forward to dining here and chose it for a birthday celebration for my partner. The food was good but not worth the price, especially as there was quite a large gap between dishes. Service was ok but that attentive - were were not asked how the meal was until the very end but most places offer a check back shortly after dishes are served. Wrong dish was sent out (which we sent back) and then was added to the bill at the end! Whilst it wasn’t a bad meal it stings slightly to pay this much and leave underwhelmed. Great loos though.

The food was excellent, but for the price, it didn’t feel like good value. The service was a bit strange. I was surprised by the amount of time between each course, though I understand that may come with the small-plate concept. The music was far too loud to create a comfortable atmosphere, even though the music selection itself was great. It was also extremely dark inside the restaurant, which made the experience less enjoyable overall. Needs smaller plates for the table size x

Food was really good - innovative, tasty, all the dishes were spot on! A bit expensive but ok. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the service. We got our bottle of wine only half way through the meal. Then after 1h30 that we were sitting there, and while we were still sipping our wine, we were told we should leave the table (after having been stared at for the previous 10 mins by an anxious waiter in the corner). I made them notice we were still finishing our wine and they said we could go and sit at the entrance to do that. So we packed all our staff, moved to the entrance and were left there standing with our jackets on, nobody gave us a table nor took any care of us. I went to complain to the manager, she was really nice and apologetic but still did not even think of offering us sth to compensate for the trouble or take sth out of our bill (most restaurants would have done so). It was our special night out - we spent a lot of money between dinner and baby sitter - and it was disappointing to be sent away so quickly and dismissively. I’ll certainly not go back, nor will I recommend it to friends - being treated not just as if you’re occupying a table that could be given to other paying customers is equally important than good food.

28/10/2025 £55 set menu + drinks & extras Hausu is cool, no doubt about it. Converted ultimately from the old waiting room at (the Grade-II listed) Peckham Rye station, it’s all dangly lights and dark corners. It markets itself as a ‘listening bar’ as much as a restaurant and makes a big song (some groovy old school soul-funk deep cut you’ve never heard of) and dance about its sound system; it’s got huge pinewood speakers on bespoke, designated shelves in every room and the fireplace now serves as a wine rack. Any kind of fixed or definitive cuisine other than “modern” is conspicuous in its absence from all its own descriptions but the menu references “Tokyo turnips” and miso confit garlic and the place is named after a 1970s Japanese horror film. Of course. But is there substance to the style? It’s kinda like you’ve got a mate who’s a good cook and has invited you round as a guinea pig to test her concoctions on. And she’s got a housemate who’s a DJ - a proper one, who only plays vinyl - who’ll be there too. And there might be some kind of poetry reading or ukulele jam sesh after you’ve all eaten from which you’d need to hastily excuse yourself. The sort of mate you’d make sure you dropped into conversation, particularly when speaking to someone a bit younger or involved in the arts, but not necessarily the sort of mate you’d want to be hanging out with day-in, day-out - and particularly not at age 36 with a baby on the way. Because not all of those concoctions, I’m afraid to say, quite come off. Nor did they, with the benefit of hindsight, feel particularly coherent. The menu sounded fantastic in advance and I was really looking forward to getting stuck in, but in the moment at times it had us overintellectualising, attempting to guess at the specific ingredients and almost trying to justify the decision-making behind them without simply reacting to them, organically and with feeling. Those Tokyo turnips were a case in point. As a larger group we had the set menu and so three plates turned up; while they prompted discussion about the possible inclusion of tahini or the interesting choice of vegetable, at least one of those plates went back unfinished. With them were slices of delica pumpkin, beautifully cooked and delicious, but the blue cheese and hot honey sauce slightly overwhelmed its natural flavours, and I think this is when nascent organic feelings - of disappointment - did begin to arise. (In fairness, maybe I was just annoyed I hadn’t got an extra prawn toast like the others - make sure you don’t make the same mistake if you go.) It had been a really good start, with some of the best bread and butter I think I’ve ever eaten (from local heroes Toad, who also supply Café Mondo in the area - no apologies for the plug); the pickles (daikon and sweet red pepper) and olives they came with whetted the appetite just fine. A choice cut of sliced sirloin and entire plaice to share for mains looked impressive - although Elle said the fish looked like it had been dragged out of swamp - but were inconsistent in quality and flavour. The steak in particular was a bit like a punnet of half-mouldy strawberries - you’d have a really good bite but the next would be too tough or all fat, leaving you chasing perfection until all that was left to do was gnaw uncivilisedly on the bone. I enjoyed the fish but like the turnips it went back unfinished - nice but sort of inoffensive (see too the veggie alternative mushroom risotto, which felt quite low effort in comparison, the potatoes, the cocktails I could go on… although the toasted rice spiced ice cream afterwards was banging). As a theme this was surprising given the ambition of the menu; I’d almost have preferred a few big misses along with a few more big hits. In the end I went home (before I could suggest we remove the service charge for the miserable waitress who responded “what about it?” when asked about a missing beer) with an overall sense of untapped potential. It’s a great space and I loved the concept and intent but was it matched by the food? I don't think so.

Never really hit the mark. The bread was lovely, and the custard compote dessert was genuinely delicious. But everything else we tried didn't really hang together and felt very overpriced. Service was hit and miss.

J
James Shoreham

The food was ok. Nothing special but it does what it says. The steaks are too expensive - you can get better at Hawksmoor or Ibai or cheaper for this level of quality. The prawn toast is often talked about but is kind of gross, too soft and watery. But what really let our meal down was the service. Cold, inattentive and forgetful.

S
SY Phang

Overrated, over priced and disappointed Ox heart ragu toast was way too salty. Sesame Prawn Toast looks nice but no substance when biting into it. Lemon butter noodle sauce was nice but simple noodle was undercook and taste raw. Pork collar, £24 for 6 tiny slices, was too chewy. Hake was flavourful but a bit overcooked One thing I couldnt stand tho is the tall waiter with lose trousers and pants showing. not great when it is on eye level when i am sitting, while he is taking order or serving the adjacent table. There is casual service and there is TOO casual of a service.

C
C H

Some of the worst service I’ve experienced in London. Had to ask for water 4 times. Wait staff were rude and unfriendly. Food was very average for the (high) cost. Menu was overly complex and unclear on how much to order. A real shame as the old restaurant here Coal Rooms was great.

C
CR D

Such a poor dining experience from start to finish. Every dish was underwhelming and came to the table cold. The roof was dripping excessively which left a weird smell. Towards the end of our time there, a waiter asked if we enjoyed the experience and welcomed feedback. We had told him that dishes were cold/burnt and the timing of service was quite poor. As a result of this, another man (whom I believe was the manager) came over in quite a patronising manner to counter our claims. He got really low and stated that we had eaten most of the steak. Not once did we state we didn’t want to pay, we just were honest. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and I won’t be returning. There are far better restaurants in London.

J
Joseph Cresswell

The food at this place is fine, but would have to be exceptional to make up for the service. The worst I’ve seen in London for a decade, so much so that it genuinely created an unsettling vibe in the room. The two hour extended cut of Kind of Blue (full of repeat tracks and outtakes) played in full didn’t help massively on that front either tbh - it’s almost as if the aim was to look cool rather than put any thought into the dining experience. A couple next to us left, having not received most of their order after two hours (the waiter unknowingly having given their starters to another table) and I wish we had just followed their lead. We weren’t given menus for 15 minutes, ordered bottles of water and wine which never arrived (and were not recommended another wine when the waiter finally admitted after 20 minutes that nobody could find the one we asked for). Waited an age for food to arrive and eventually gave up and asked for the bill, not daring to order dessert in case we missed our train. Plenty of staff, just an absence of training or interest. The main man was kind of apologetic but repeatedly said “this stuff happens occasionally” - basically oblivious to the fact that he had overseen a 0/10 experience for both us and the couple next to us. Not hard to see that if it happens to c.2 tables per night then you’ll be empty before long. TLDR: It’s rubbish. Go to Levan.

m
malaika

Don’t think I’ve ever been this underwhelmed eating out before, whilst our waiter was lovely the food wasn’t even worth the prices they charge but given the food is as much as it was we made sure to finish as much as we could because in this day and age who has money to waste? We were asked as we finished how we found the food and we expressed disappointment and made it known that most of our stuff came out cold to have a manager (assuming) come over and be really patronizing as if it changes the fact we had the experience we had and despite this we were still happy to pay minus a service charge. Definitely won’t be returning.

S
Seb S

I think we’ve reached peak absurdity with service charges, and this café is a prime example. I was told that they would add a service charge to bring my coffee a grand total of two metres from behind the counter to the table, and even for serving it in a ceramic cup. To be clear, this isn’t about the staff, who were polite and doing their jobs. It’s about a business model that tries to disguise basic parts of the experience as “extras.” I have a broken hand, which makes carrying things difficult, so this felt particularly galling. But even without that, charging a fee for something so minimal and so fundamental to a café visit just leaves a bad taste. We need to stop normalising this creeping, pernicious service charge culture for things that used to be included.
