Such a nice and cozy oasis for cyclists on the bike path. Folks are very friendly and the menu provides a good variety of beverages, meals, and snacks.

The food was great and being right off the bike path it was perfect for renting some bikes and having a Great ride along the L.A. river. Very friendly crew and very diverse atmosphere

For those interested in exploring the Los Angeles River area, this is a must-see. The food is good and the people are nice and it is directly on the bike path overlooking the river.

Really cute outdoor cafe with attached bike shop. Right on the LA River bikeway near Frogtown. Delicious brunch and drinks. Super casual. Dog-friendly.

The food is amazing! They have an app so you can order pick up and get a table. The environment is very welcoming and relaxed and it was very easy getting a bike just make sure you can leave your ID or card. They have free air and you can also get tips on your bike. Their store sells some basic bike help stuff. I love this place!

Spoke is one of those places that is so special and has such great vibes. It’s easy to understand how you might find yourself here over and over again. Frogtown for a while has been sort of a if you know you know neighborhood, but now I think a lot of people know… And spoke I feel like has a lot to do with that. It feels like it’s really built into the community, and offers not only food and drinks, but the opportunity to see Frogtown from the perspective of a cyclist as you can rent bikes next-door, to where you can order food. Overall, the food is very good if expensive, and there are a ton of vegetarian options. I will definitely find myself here again very soon, thanks so much, Spoke!

A really nice discovery along the LA River bike path. Feels like a hostel in a good way. A great place to refuel and relax.

The view of the river when you sit outside the walls is totally worth it. The food is on the greasy side but very delicious. Coffee was a medium roast and also really good flavor wise. They don't give you cups for here, only disposable cups which is ironic given that they were by the LA river and a big group of students just finished hauling trash from the river - most of it disposable cups. The prices are good - staff is friendly. Lots of great seating options but parking can be tough. I recommend parking further away and walk through the beautiful neighborhood. You can find lots of covered seating areas away from the sun.

First time checking out this place and it was pretty awesome. Food-wise: * I got the breakfast burrito: delicious with a little spicy kick from some tasty sauce they put on it * Friend got the banana with honey on toast: delicious. Came on these big chunks of bread that I was told was delightful Drinks: * Cold brew was tasty Vibes: * Place just has a very cool vibe along the LA River. Highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch. Beer selection and rest of menu looks great, so will def be back at a later hour for that.

Really good food and really good drinks, be sure to get their fried oyster mushrooms. Love stopping here after a long bike ride.

Great little find along the LA river! There was a long line all day (a Sunday) for people wanting food, coffee, or beer. There's a bit of a cluster to get water bc it's where people are trying to form a line. Maybe they could add another place to order specific items. There's some vendors in the back and it's like cafeteria style, where you order and sit down then clear all your own plates and separate your food into waste, etc. Yes, they still want tips. 🤷‍♂️😜😉 Beers were about $10 I think. Salads looked amazing but I didn't try (yet).

I LOVE this place! I’m from New England and I would fly the six hours again just to eat another kale chicken caesar salad! The dressing is the best caesar I’ve ever had!! My boyfriend also loved his Spoke Burger with fries! Plus the guy at the register was epic and famous, I know him from instagram reels! The environment is also really cool!

There is nothing like riding your bike on a hot day and stopping off to grab something to eat and drink at Spoke. I look forward to every ride when I know I will be peddling by.

Great food and deserts with excellent vegan options and a variety of local and house made beverages. Friendly staff and fantastic ambiance, in a relatively quiet location. It can be very busy and it may take 20 to 30 minutes to get your food. Parking can be troublesome. Covered outdoor seating and dogs are welcome.

Came in with a broken brake handle and a front shifter that wasn’t working the way it should. Genny got it all fixed up pretty quick and was super helpful giving me the breakdown of what she was actually doing on the bike. She seemed super knowledgeable and I feel like they definitely know what they are doing. Price wasn’t too bad either. 5/5

A cultural gem of LA. The food, drinks, vibe and service are great! They rent high quality bikes for $15 an hour to cruise around the river. I highly recommend it. Just be prepared to wait for food/drinks if you come on a busy weekend.

Some people need to chill out and remember that we just went through and aren’t totally out of a pandemic yet so when you post about this place not catering to your every wish you need to stop and appreciate that the place is still on open and available for you and has survived the ordeal that we all just went through. Businesses were hit HARD and many of them didn’t make it. This place is a gem and has an amazing vibe and you can tell the owners have really put their heart and soul into it. The food is amazing and they may not have a full menu that caters to every single person but they do have items like drinks for everyone. Giving them a bad review just because your needs weren’t met is in poor taste. This place is a gem and I hope it’s around for a long time because I love the food, the vibe, location and everything about it! I will be a loyal customer as long as they are around. Stop with the negative reviews just because the world hasn’t revolved around you. We should be lifting each other up instead of whining and complaining! Keep up the good work Spoke! Cheers

The setting was beautiful by staying open air, and the other customers were all considerate of one another. My food was good, and I was pleased the Cafe has a menu with so many delicious, unique offerings. I wish it were a bit easier to navigate the order/pick-up lines, though. I had a question about a drink and couldn't figure out where I could get an answer without "breaking the rules." All in all, I am so glad my friend took me here so I have another good local business to frequent.

I went here for trivia night on a Sunday. The food and coffees are delicious. I got a vegetarian sandwich with waffle fries and tried the chai tea latte and matcha chai latte. So good! They brought out heaters for everyone too so that was super nice.

Nice convenient location to stop for a bite to eat right next to bike path. The food and beverage selection is healthy and unique and what we tried tasted great! Highly recommended.

A very hip local gem! The concept is great — bikes and great food! It’s right next to the LA River so you can rent a bike, go for a ride on the bike path, and then grab a bite. The menu is creative and there’s something for everyone. Definitely try the yummy veggie burger (mushroom and beet patty!) and the waffle fries!

I can't imagine a better spot for a cafe located and nestled by the Los Angeles river.. wait you didn't ride a bike there it's cool rent one from the shop !! And don't forget to grab a couple of pints to make that bike ride a real adventure . I Enjoyed the the river bed wild life on the journey .. ask for the Copenhagen bike.. it's electric! Also the spoke burger !! So many good things to say .. so little time to write it all Down ;) cheers

I come to spoke every time we’re driving through LA. It’s such a unique place with great food and the best coffee. Blows those corporate coffee places outta the water. And you can rent a bike to take a ride along the river. So freaking coool.

The vibe here is the best ever!!! I loved riding my bike over the new Rumblefish Bridge with my husband to hang out here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The burger could use just a bit more crispy sear and a bit more salt, and perhaps some moisture control with the tomato situation. But that didn't detract from my enjoyment. The fries were amazing. I love the attention to detail like the murals, bike parking, extensive composting, and plantings. Spots like this give me hope for the future. Will definately be back. Also I love that my food came in a reusable basket instead of a tossable container. Keep sticking to your values Spoke!

This place is absolute perfection if you are looking for a quick bite and some bicycle community. The entire place is outdoors, great for Covid era. They have tons of different dishes but I always get my bike combo: avocado toast + Kombucha! Just delicious. It is not called bike kombo but I just baptized it 😉. The crew is young and super friendly. And yes, you can park your bike there. Go! Pics taken w/ Pixel 4xl

This place is an absolute must see. Location is amazing, food and spirits are top tier. The staff is helpful and the owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Their food is incredible and fresh. They rent bikes 🚲 if you forget your own and even have a tandem if you’re feeling adventurous! Every time I’m in Los Angeles I make sure I leave time for Spoke. Can’t wait to return ❤️

This Cafe is a hidden gem while visiting California. Tucked away in a neighborhood - I thought I was lost; this cute and unique spot has an amazing atmosphere that was perfect for our group lunch. The vibe was laidback, relaxing for the hangout. One of the best parts is the scenic bike trail right behind the cafe (a post-meal stroll was needed). It really adds to the whole relaxing experience. The food was excellent! Big portions, fresh ingredients and everything we ordered was delicious. Whether you're coming for a brunch, coffee or just a water break from biking/walking, this place is the place. The downside was looking for parking - it can be challenging since it's nestled in a residential area but honestly, it was totally worth it.

A welcoming place for cyclists, pedestrians, and local residents. Great food and drinks served. Bike shop, repairs, accessories, and rentals. Many bicycles to choose from. Along the Los Angeles River. Great stop for a quick bite. Live music. Great views of the Los Angeles River, trains, and mountains.

I grabbed a coffee—super smooth and mellow—after cycling the River path. Laid-back vibe, barista friendly. Great rest stop with flavor and minimal fuss. This one deserves more attention. Solid hidden coffee recharge

Super cool, semi-hidden locale. Cycling enthusiasts abound as it is literally on the Los Angeles River bike path. Bustling on a Sun morn but strict social distancing adherence. Relaxed, bohemian/funky outdoor setting. Another reason we love the eclecticism that still reigns in LA!

This is a popular spot for lunch, so I was impressed when they got my order to me so quickly. I had a breakfast bun with eggs, cheese, and tempeh, and it came out perfectly. Well worth the $8. Friendly staff, friendly customers, kid friendly and pup friendly. I love this place!

This spot has a great atmosphere, especially because it’s right by the river. Sitting near the water makes it feel calm and refreshing, and it’s a perfect place to take a break. The avocado sandwich is a must-try—fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. It’s especially ideal if you’re biking along the river and want a nice mid-ride stop to relax and refuel. The only downside is parking. Finding a parking spot can be pretty challenging and takes away a bit from the overall experience. Still, once you’re there, the vibe and the food make it worth the visit. I’d definitely come back, especially on a bike.

Casual, fun, vibrant spot along the bike path along the LA River in north east Los Angeles Elysian Valley neighborhood, also known as Frogtown. Fresh food with a menu stretching from breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Found this place a while back on a stroll along the LA river and kept meaning to come back and check it out. So glad I did because the food was so good ( LOVED the crispy potatoes) , the coffee/drinks selection is A+. It’s counter service only , but the person taking our order was lovely. The place itself is so so cute too. Colorful and laid back. There’s also bike rentals there as well. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

I was visiting the city and decided to hang out here on Halloween. You had a DJ there that was fabulous. I was stunned at what he was doing but loved every second of it. I stayed the whole night instead of just one drink. Bring him back! I’d pay for that show!!

The food is fantastic! The vegan burger, salads, brussel sprouts, and all drinks are great. Casual yet cute and artsy environment. Family, friend, and date friendly. Take a walk on the bike path afterwards and watch trains and sunset. 🥰

I come to buy coffee at least twice a week during my normal bike or electric scooter rides. All associates are super chilled and friendly even at the bike shop but nobody but (Ms Ariel) tops it off with a beautiful kind smile in her face when it comes to customer service over all🙂 she deserves a 👏and a raise. I enjoy and love coming to this place alot.

This place is super fun! Stumbled across this place on a blog and decided to check it out while visiting Frogtown. This place is BUSY! And not just in the morning, but all day! It’s right off the bike/walking path at the river and has entrances directly off the path, so all the bikers stop in on their route. The eclectic feel here is great. It’s colourful, laid back, and overall just a relaxing place. I got their iced chai and a chocolate chip cookie which had just come out of the oven. Both were really tasty. I saw many people order breakfast items and everything looked delicious. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

I biked the LA River path and stopped here for a sandwich and cold brew—couldn’t have picked a better rest spot. The atmosphere is chill, with shaded picnic tables and an open-air vibe. I had their veggie sandwich and it was surprisingly filling. You’ll see lots of cyclists and locals hanging out with their dogs. It’s one of those places that feels like a little secret

Not only is this spot amazingly cute; the food is outstanding & a great value. My sister got the breakfast burrito, while I went for the tostada. Started to doubt if that would be enough food, so I added a plate of sides. Boy! I was wrong. Not only did everything come out looking gorgeous. It was beyond expectations. This spot is so fun to visit.

New favorite cafe!! Makes me wish I lived on the east side which is a lot to say after driving from marina del Rey! Perfect stop on a bike ride- easy bike parking where you don’t have to worry about locking up your bike, delicious drink selection and lots of food choices including vegan options! I got a beer / kombucha combination last time which I hadn’t seen anywhere else before and it was SO tasty. Full of super friendly people and lots of dogs too 😇

Great vibes for a fun afternoon. We saw people working, playing games, walking by the river. Brunch was tasty and the outdoor seating is really pleasant on a nice day! Order up front and wait for a text. Had to wait a bit for a table to open up on a Sunday afternoon but worth it!

Such a delicious breakfast Tostada! Nice and cozy sun spots outside but enough shade too in case the sun is being all powerful. They always got some smooth jams playing here. Otto is amazing!! The kindness from all of the staff here makes me feel excited to keep coming back. For the unique combo of flavors for this dish, it really changed the game on how I rate breakfast tostadas from now on. It’s creamy, it’s cronchy! It’s oh so tasty!

Chill, interesting place. Very relaxed atmosphere. Doesn't even feel like you're in LA. Especially good if you're into biking, but you need not be. The food, local microbrews, and espresso are worth the visit. Live music was a nice touch.

Great food but the outside should be kept cleaner because of the flies and insects.

L
Lambda Moses

I really like the vibe, murals, and location. The food is pretty good. One star off because often they don't honor non-default options with food. For example, I ordered a California BLAT with tempeh and that option is on the menu, but they gave me bacon anyway. A friend wanted a sandwich without bacon but everything else but they still put bacon it it and the sandwich was returned twice for them to correct this. Please pay more attention to the non-default requests! Matters a lot to vegans, Muslims, and Jews.

Decent food with great beers by the LA River walk but so insanely crammed with hipsters so get here early on weekends to look for a seat and the order window is so packed so dont make the same mistake I did, grab one of the QR codes off the tables and order and then go to the pickup window. Also - huge plus - DOG FRIENDLY!

The breakfast burrito is excellent: eggs, crispy potatos, pico de gallo in a flour tortilla - delish! Nice relaxing, dog-friendly atmosphere.

W

I haven’t tried the food. Only go to walk around or sit and people watch. It’s an outside place and offer different type of coffees and teas. They have alcoholic beverages and Kombucha too. There’s a bike path and bike rental. The outside is the LA river

L

Considering I only had a smoothie and fries, I would need to eat something more subscription to give a proper review. The people were very nice and the eatery had a cool vibe.

Laidback outdoor spot; there’s areas of covered seating as well as spots in the direct sun. The breakfast tacos were filling and flavorful.

K
Katelyn Sulett

super cute little bike cafe!! stopped here after an event at forager crafts where we heard about all the work spoke has done to support the rewilding of the LA river and had to stop by to support (and to get cold drinks since it was very hot). atmosphere was great, staff was nice but seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of people, and the food was pretty good!

Abbey
Abbey

Good burger, a little on the pricey side, but the fries were MASSIVE. Like, accidentally ordered-for-the-table massive. No complaints there. The place itself is extremely wholesome in that very specific Silver Lake way. Lots of hemp-and-granola energy, bikes leaned against walls, and a crowd that collectively feels like they want you to know they voted for Obama… twice. The Spoke Burger hits, the waffle fries come in aggressively generous portions, and the vibe is relaxed and friendly. You’re paying a bit extra, sure, but you’re also paying for the atmosphere, and in this case, it kind of works. Parking is an absolute nightmare. Do a couple laps, lower your expectations, or mentally prepare to walk.

Lillian Cheung

This is the cutest little cafe! My friend and I rode by the river to get here and what a pleasant afternoon activity! We saw people bringing their food and eating right by the river and there are a bunch of tables at the cafe to choose from. We came on a Monday afternoon so it wasn’t crowded. There are a few outlets if you wanted to bring your computer or charge your bike. The weekend might be trickier to find an outlet. We both loved the coffee! The orange chocolate cappuccino tasted like Terry’s Chocolate! The food was good but $32 for a burger and fries plus an iced coffee is a bit on the pricier side for my taste.

Located right on the LA river bike path, Spoke Bicycle Cafe has an excellent bustling, convivial vibe on weekends when cyclists and locals come out in droves and stop by the cafe to grab coffee, snacks, or meals during their outings. My latte was underwhelming to be honest, a bit foamy and the taste wasn't not exciting; their signature breakfast bun on the other hand was just fantastic, it was beautiful, juicy, and flavorful, great value for the price. I got the vegan version with a big chunk of tempeh, yammy! There are plenty of seats in the roofed outdoor space serving both the cafe and bike shop. There is a dedicated area for bike parking and a self-serve water station. Overall it's a great place for those who use the bike path.

The food and coffee are pretty gpod but the service takes forever.

D
David Greenberg

The good: awesome destination when you’re on your bike. Just park by the zoo and ride the 4-ish miles to Spoke. Food is awesome (once you can actually order it and it arrives). Best avocado toast I’ve ever had. The bad: the staff at Spoke are like every snotty coffee shop meme (disinterested, cold, slow). The line to order food is loooong and the wait is even worse. So be prepared to invest some time if you go. Also, the coffee is not great.

j
jillian walsh

The 3 Star rating is only this high because of the lovely and hard working staff and the atmosphere/location. I would not recommend the tofu scramble. The food portion was ok for the price. The potatoes and bread were good but the tofu scramble was flavorless with a wetter consistency than I like. It was also cold. I don’t mean that it was not hot enough but it was cold, as if it had come out of the refrigerator. All the other food on the plate was hot so it was very alarming to have a scoop of cold tofu to eat with the other food. Additionally, some of the kale was uncooked and yellowed. The location was convenient for our bike ride along the path and had lots of space to park the bikes which was nice.

A
Alyson Cook

I was very underwhelmed with my chicken sandwich. The chicken portion was small (maybe 3 oz) and dry and not very tasty. The Sangria was not a Sangria. I don't what it was but it the worst version of any version of a Sangria that I have ever had. Do not order. I love the location, and the atmosphere but the food and drink must be good too, especially at those prices!

M
Marianne Karaan

Went there for breakfast. Nice spot. The guy who took our order was too cool for school. I got the breakfast bun, with avocado no meat and no cheese. The flavor was OK but the brioche bun was a disaster. Super thick and stale. I removed most of it out. I got a side of crispy potatoes, they were delicious. My partner got a breakfast burrito with no meat, and it was pretty plain; lots of potatoes and some eggs. You stand in a long line to order, then you have to clean/remove the dishes but you can’t forget to tip!

m
matthew paulsen

Restaurant and staff are really cool but the bike repair shop is kinda meh. The dude who works there has turned me away without even looking at my bike and had a bit of an attitude. Just had to go to pro budget bike shop instead to get my lines re ran for my brakes and shifters. There’s a really nice girl who works there that’s helped several times and is very kind and patient. I’d honestly avoid for bike servicing unless you’re renting bikes from there.

Interesting place near LA river, wish they will do something about the flies situation, that definitely overshadowed everything they served here. Overall foods are good but we are spend most our attention try to protect our foods from an army of flies.

Food was fine and nice location but even when you're dining in, everything's served in/with loads of plastic and paper. There are no reusable plates, cups, silverware, etc. and big long lines of people are eating and then filling up the trash bins. Considering that this cafe is right next to a delicate space for nature, the LA River, which already suffers from tons of trash choking it up, it's pretty extremely irresponsible for Spoke to have gone to a total trash based model. Won't be coming back until they go back to reusables.

Great location, cool people, but the food is offensively bad - just look at the photos. It's expensive even by LA standards, in combination with mediocre coffee. Better alternatives are La Colombe for coffee and Wax Paper for something to eat.

Food's pretty greasy and a bit overpriced. Selection's limited after 2:30PM. The vibe is nice, but it was scorching hot even with the shade. There's flies around and no fan or breeze.

$12.50 for this. Come on! You say this was half a portion but the reality is that the other “half” was an even smaller heel. Even our kids laughed when it was brought over. For goodness sake just use a regular slice of bread and be done with it.

I really love the atmosphere of this place, but I was served a burnt avocado toast. I went up and mentioned that the toast was burnt and inedible, to which the girl at the counter just said, "Okay“ But it’s not okay lol

Came here for a snack with a loose pedal and some friends and left with nothing but the knowledge that I won't be back. Whatever you think about the vibe, I can't recommend a bike cafe that doesn't let people borrow tools (don't worry, you can buy them!). Update: When I asked about this rule, the shop tech explained that people often damage tools and they are a business after all, so they can't be replacing tools willy nilly/letting people do service themselves when a shop tech could charge for it. A photographer wouldn't let you use their camera for free, the shop tech explained patronizingly, so why should a business where you bought a $13 avocado toast let you borrow a 85¢ tool? They explained that there was a stripped tool (free to use!) I could try to use but it didn't include what I needed so I ended up going to home depot to buy some cheap hexes wrenches. On my way back, I offered to donate the tool I bought (had an equivalent tool at home) to their free use tools. The tech declined, explaining that their boss wouldn't approve and that they were a small business that had to make money somehow. They then suggested I sit outside and help people on the path, which didn't quite feel like a sustainable solution. Sad to see a bougie cafe trying so hard to capitalize instead of trying to be a community space but I guess it's a nice spot to go sit and see what s works has been selling lately.

Super rude male staff member approached my girlfriend while I was picking up our order harassing her about her coffee. Then saw him do the same thing to another couple of girls after they ordered their food. Not to mention thy forgot to make our order. Super disappointing..
