Went to Broken Shaker last night and it did not disappoint. Daniel was our server, super nice and attentive. It got a little chilly outside and he even offered us a blanket which was so thoughtful. We were starving and ordered the carne asada fries and ahi tuna poke… both were bomb! And the spicy mezcal margarita? Sooo gooood!!! 10/10 night!
We had just gone ice-skating at Pershing Square and popped in here for lunch. It’s on the rooftop of the free hand hotel. Nice little outside patio with a cute little bar right next to the pool and lounge chairs. Groovy music was playing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Wonderful views of the city. Prices are steep, but kind of expected at a rooftop poolside café. We both got the fried chicken sandwich and the aïoli and pickles and bun were just delicious, but the piece of chicken seem to have mostly breading on it and very little chicken. I think it was also overcooked because they were black portions in between the cracks of breading and all over it. That needs work. Fries were good. Overall, a nice experience.
We wanted to eat at a place with a view of the city that had a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. We sat at the bar since it was just thentwo of us. The bar tender was attentive and helpful. We ordered the curry shrimp skewers, the fish tacos, the chicken sandwich, and some fried plantains. Overall, the food was good. The tacos had a great flavor, and the chicken sandwich was delicious (the slaw is what makes it). However, for $18, you only get two tacos. The shrimp skewers were bland. They lacked more curry flavor or flavor at all. I asked the bartender if the plantains were green or ripe (tostone style, salty, or maduro, sweet). She said sweet, but they were actually green. And for $5, you only get three. Skip them. For drinks, we got one of their tequila cocktails and glass white wine. Overall, stick with the burger or chicken sandwich. A lot of people ordered the burger, and it looked good. Come here for the views and drinks, not so much the food. It's way overpriced, and it's hit or miss.
Cute, quiet and friendly stuff, we sat at the pool for $45 + order which is 2 drinks and appetizer. Perfectly fine, love the decorations, and the view of DT, of course! Good vibe spot, even though I’ve noticed it’s more younger audience. Which is cool, and there is no dresscode policy.
My friend was visiting from out of town and got a room at The Freehand Hotel/Hostel which is where the Broken Shaker sits on top of. It is located at the very top floor. Aside of the little bar they have there is also a pool with lounge chairs and the set up is really cool. It is a rather small space but theres music and the drinks were really good. The service was fast but kind of kept to themselves. They were still nice though. We had a couple drinks and felt it out. We wanted more of a setting where we could socialize more and get ourselves into party mode and maybe we just went on the wrong day but it felt very low key and calm here lol. But overall it is a cool tucked away little spot and drinks are yummy. I think we paid about $17 per drink.
ROOFTOP WITH KILLER VIEW!! Food - 4 Service - 4 Ambiance - 5 Price-quality-ratio - 4.5 If you’re looking for a rooftop bar with a killer view of downtown LA, Broken Shaker is the spot. The vibe here is laid-back yet stylish, with colorful decor, twinkling lights, and a pool that adds to the atmosphere. Whether you come during the day to soak up the sun or at night to take in the city skyline, the setting is hard to beat. The drinks are solid—creative, refreshing, and well-balanced. Whether you’re into tropical cocktails or something with a little spice, there’s something on the menu for you. The presentation is also on point, with fresh herbs and unique garnishes that make each drink feel special. Food-wise, they have some great bites to go along with your drinks. The chips and salsa hit the spot, and there are a few other options worth trying if you’re feeling snacky. It’s not necessarily a full-on dining experience, but it definitely complements the drinks well. Overall, Broken Shaker is one of the best rooftop bars in LA for a relaxed yet fun night out. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s worth checking out for the views alone—but the drinks and vibe will make you want to stay.
Loved coming here for happy hour on a Tuesday! Easily got a lounge chair and serviced immediately. Pool wasn't over crowded and the giant rubber duck float/raft was fun to lay on. The music was very tiki bar style and the drinks were tasty and strong. Still a bit pricey in my opinion, but worth it if you're celebrating something and want to relax in a slightly bougie way.
Better rooftop views, comfortable sitting. This rooftop bar has much better open and pretty views than other rooftops! It is located close to the clean and safe part of the downtown Los Angeles. It is also close to the major tall and beautiful commercial and apartment buildings, so the view is much better than other rooftops. The most important thing about this bar, it is that it has a lot of lounge chairs around the rooftop swimming pool and it is very comfortable to lay down after a meal. Even though the swimming pool is very small and not heated, but it is still pretty and soothing to look at it. The bar foods are rather ordinary and the price is average. However, they do charge the service fee and health fees, so your final bill will be 20 % more. After all, it is still better than other rooftops and I certainly will come back to this place again.
This bar is at the rooftop of a hotel/hostel. It is quite nice and has a great view of the city! Non-guest are allowed to use the swimming pool but have to spend a minimum of $65 pp at the bar! Guests have no charge. Everybody still have a 2h maximum limit of pool usage. Cheapest beer at $7 and cocktails at $18
Four stars for the view alone! I came here at night and this place lights up so beautifully. When you get off the ancient elevator you walk out to a smell of incense and high rise buildings. Everything from the drinks to the decorations has a Hawaiian tiki vibe to it. Flowers and vines line the outskirts of the area. The drinks have awesome names and are tasty but i asked for an off the menu item, a Moscow Mule and it did not taste like it usually does and it was in a plastic cup! 😲 There is plenty of sitting room around the pool if it gets too crowded however I can see tiptoeing around the edges of the pool being dangerous. There is two bars the furthest inward was nearly empty and on each table there was a fidget spinner. Nice place to enjoy a drink or two & enjoy the view.
This place delivers a great ambience. Small wait in line to get in but moves quickly. The music made it so much fun. Vivacious drink menu. Great bartenders who appear to love their job. It was packed but we managed to find seating when a reservation party left by the pool. Looks very nice during sunset. I would definitely come back. Drinks are pricier than other fancier rooftop bars tho. Come with friends and celebrate a birthday here.
During happy hours, prices are decent. Food is alright, nothing fancy but good portions. Service is a bit strange, a huge difference of treatment if you don't look like a billionaire. During the day pool and bar should be separated, you can't relax with someone asking every 5 min if you want to order. Tips and tax included that's nice.
Made a reservation here to have a nice rooftop terrasse view of LA. Nice view, cool that can you can access the pool. However, drinks were overpriced but bland. Also I was not pleased and uncomfortable to see the way we were charged- a credit card being "held" by the waitress before ordering the drinks and then having the waitress tip themselves 18% without asking us how much we would like to tip... we only read this 18% tip rule AFTER being charged as it was written on the bill. Would have been nice to knke before ordering about this tip. Quite ridiculous.
