Great Margaritas!. This place is known for Mezcal and amazing Mole! The chips and salsa was one one the best I've had. (Its not free and you have to ask for it!)
It was our fist time here. They are really nice, the food was delicious the cocktails were really good. We are from guatemala but we love mexican food especially from Oaxaca. The music and atmosphere were perfect 100% recommended
The food is definitely authentic, and i could not get enough of their handmade tortillas and sauces. The music and atmosphere blended in so well with the spot. The wait was a bit long, but overall, it was a good experience and will probably be one of my favorite go-to Mexican restaurants in West Hollywood.
PSA ya’ll…. Madre’s happy hour now goes Monday—Fri 3–7! This is my favorite happy hour in LA, and I’m only sharing it so freely because it blows my mind more people don’t seem to know! Madres has ambiance for days, amazing Oaxacan food, and the happy hour deals are unreal. Everything they do they do at the top of their game…tortillas, salsa and chips are homemade…the best margs and mezcal around…the moles are balanced…even the water for the table is cucumber water lol. You could never go wrong with the taquitos, mole negro enchiladas, homemade chips and salsa, and Madre’s enchiladas. Only thing I didn’t love, for feedback purposes, was the Rajas con Queso Taco. Flavor and texture were a miss for me.
When I tell you this place is incredible… on every point! Food amazing, atmosphere is such a vibe, service and staff are so welcoming and accommodating and QUICK! We ordered the following for 3 people and were stuffed and had plenty of leftovers: - chips and trio of salsa: I am still mind blown about the variety of salsas, the flavor complexity, the range of spice and ingredients in each. 10/10 - squash blossoms (forgot to take picture): so delightful, stuffed with a cheese mixture and the perfect consistency and crunch on the fried blossom. 10/10 - 3 mole plate: loved trying the different mole options, my palate is not quite as seasoned when it comes to mole so I favored the “traditional” sweeter brown mole. Would just get this one next time (forgot what they called it) 8.7/10 - carne asada plate: an assortment of Oaxacan cheese, grilled cactus, beans, mole enchilada, and the most tender, flavorful and juicy steak. Just wow 10/10 Churros: omg…. Just omg. Melt in your mouth churros, most DELECTABLE Mexican dark chocolate to dip them in… I dream about these 10/10 This is now our go-to Mexican spot. Such an elevated take on our traditional Mexican food outings. Prices were very fair especially for the quality and ambiance of this places picking up a to-go order as we speak. It’s worth noting that we went with our friend who was born in Mexico City and has had the best of the best Oaxacan food and she was floored by this place!
The food is delicious and authentic. Try the mole enchiladas! Roberto was really kind and made our visit even better. Thank you!!
This restaurant is incredible! The server Jose was incredibly attentive and friendly and gave us recommendations since it was our first time. Even my picky eater nephew ate all of his food. Jose also gave my mom a complementary sample serving of their cafe de olla and it was delicious! Next time we are in LA we are definitely coming back!
Superb food, if you come early you get great service, they’re a bit short handed so come early. The service was amazing, everyone is so nice. We enjoy the food so much. The food is oaxcan from the state of Oaxaca in Mexico so it’s very different, their Mole sauce is divine. The churro with Mole sauce was divine. Don’t leave without ordering Churros, it’s an experience. Highly recommend this place.
Spacious restaurant with eclectic, authentic menu of moles, tacos, etc., and an array of mezcals varying from the popular bottles to smaller, family owned distilleries. We tried the fried crickets and a manager brought out cheese as a pairing. So good!
I love this place. I’m a regular. The happy hour is ridiculous Mon—fri 3–7. The enchilada for $6. Queso fundido and Barbacoa taco also good
It’s a very good restaurant in this neighbourhood. They have many outdoor tables if you prefer outdoor seating. The service is awesome. Every single one takes care of you very nice and sincerely. The food was brilliant. Sooooo delicious! You wouldn’t stop eating! And the cocktails are wonderful too! FYI, don’t order extra tortillas, you may literally have some tortillas with every single dish. 😬😬😬
Dining at Madre was the best new restaurant experience I’ve had in years. Our server Rene was genuinely so kind and fun. I enjoyed every interaction I had with him and he made sure our drinks were perfect. The salsas were unique, the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the decor and design were comfy and stylish. I’d recommend this place to all my friends and I’m excited to go back next time I’m in town.
Went for happy hour and it was so nice. Big outdoor patio to sit and very reasonable happy hour menu. The passionfruit margarita was delicious and a big drink. I could have just had one taco because they were big enough.
Ita a quaint place. The place is not big but not small. Came here for the first time on taco Tuesday. Absolutely loved it. The food is great. Servers are friendly. Each meat was very flavorful. I dared myself to try to chicharon taco. It was so good. The price is also very reasonable.

We absolutely love this place. The staff, the food, the margaritas - all of it GREAT. The chorizo has quite a kick and is SO good. The Madre Bowl with shrimp is one of my go-to meals as well as the Tlayuda with chorizo or tasajo. As a meat-eater, their vegetarian options are also fantastic, especially the rajas on queso tacos and the veggie tostada. The servers and bartenders are all so nice (Iris, Jose, Emily, Jocelyn, Rob, and Carol). Also, if you watch RHOBH, this spot might look familiar. ;) Their happy hours are solid. Parking is easy - enter the lot on Waring and drive down one level and park in Retail Parking. Check them out. We are here usually twice a week, it's that good. And you can buy bottles of mezcal, as well, to take home.
Love, love, love this place!! My father and I go here every time he comes to visit. Food is always exceptionally delicious and the entire staff is super friendly! My dad and I are big mezcal lovers, and Jose always helps us and teaches us about new bottles we’ve never discovered! We love Jose! He is the best! 100% recommend this spot. Best happy hour, margaritas, mezcal and more!

The moment you step in, you're enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like a big hug. The service is top-notch - our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made fantastic recommendations. But the real star of the show is the food. Every dish we ordered was creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. We loved the unique cocktails and extensive wine list too. If you're looking for a spot that's a little off the beaten path but still in the heart of LA, Madre is a must-visit.
GREAT tacos and cocktails! Can't wait for indoor dining as the restaurant is very nice inside.... Updating this review after a second visit and removing a star. This place should really be 5 stars: the food is still great, try the tripe and asada tacos, and cocktails consistent and amazing, the spicy margarita is delicious, the staff was welcoming, Renee and Miguel came to our table and made us feel at home. The issue is that we requested a booth by the window and as the hostess was going to clean it, we were told those were only for reservations. This was at 5:30p and we stayed for about 90 minutes and no one sat in the booth, in fact two were empty pretty much the entire time we were there.

Took my partner here for his birthday! Soooooo glad I did. Honestly the food was so darn good! My food was better than his, cause duh I have better taste. The drinks were ehhh… but it was a nice intimate place. They were overwhelmed due to be “understaffed”. However, everyone were still pleasant overall. The added flan they brought to the table for his bday was great! And listen: I CANNOT STAND FLAN! but this was bomb!!
Went for lunch mid-week. Not real busy but the initial service was slow. Friendly host. Nice atmosphere, lots of less common dishes. The Fish Ceviche was quite good with lots of fish chunks. The Mole Palenquero was quite good, with a fruity Mole flavor. It came with a small roll of house-made tortillas, nothing else. The Alcohol menu looks very impressive with Margaritas and Mezcal flights. I’ll have to return some evening.
This was my first time eating at this restaurant and it was impressive. The food was delicious. I had the chicken burrito and my folks had the tamales, chicken taco and the enchiladas.

Not worth it, stay away. The food is terrible: Ceviche was highly salted, no matter how many limes I squeezed to make is patable, just way too salty. The meats were undesirable, all felt rubbery gum like. They must use the same seasoning for all the meats, chicken and shrimp they all have the same flavor; tasteless. The black beans were overwhelming spicy ( I like spicy food) that killed the flavor of beans. The drinks are less desirable regardless of the their presentation. Service was atrocious: 1 waitress for the entire place, the bartenders had to leave the bar unattended to support the waitress. The bussboys, cleaning the table reaching over the guests while we they are still eating, with an angry demeanor. Never again A taco truck has better food options and service.
