The food was so good. My husband and I were in the area after a long road trip and wanted something that we would get back home in New York! This was top tier, the best and hit the spot just like the one back home did. Tasted just as amazing and authentic, we will definitely be back again!
Ordered last night for my first time via UberEats and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It’s basically a better version of Halal Guys. The meat is juicer and seasoned better, plus they have great sides. I always go for lamb or beef but can honestly say this is one of the few times that I enjoyed the chicken even more. It had a great level of spice to it but it didn’t take away from the flavor. For my first time I chose The Combo which is half lamb and half chicken. Opted to do part rice and part salad for my side and enjoyed every bit of it. It actually turned into 2 meals for me so when I factor that in the price is very fair. I would recommend and plan to try it again soon.
This was a unique experience. It is called the Colony and is 15-20 restaurants under one umbrella. Can order from multiple at 1 time. I had a Lamb Gyro and Salad...good eats!! Will definitely return
chicken Platter was amazing , Great portion , food came out very fast even though it’s located in the colony cloud kitchen.
Got the chicken & lamb gyro! I thought I couldn't eat the lamb one but cut the small portion & was good! Chicken was awesome! Shared with my co-workers & everyone enjoyed the gyro! Oh, and the place gets packed because it's kind of like a food court restaurant, so I order through the delivery app! Try it! 🔥 🎊 🚀
Now this place is definitely worth every dollar and might I dare to say better than Halal Guys. They are authentic and actually have lamb gyro something they halal guys don't have. They grill their chicken every day and lamb. They make fresh falafel every day and have a vegetarian gyro for the non meat eaters. Try their amazing wings and cheeseburger as well. I would definitely go back to this spot.

Real deal halal right here in West LA. The chicken over rice hits every time — juicy, seasoned just right, and loaded with that white sauce magic. The gyro’s solid too.
Warning: One bite and you’ll be hooked. Staff is amazing always so polite and helpful and the food is out of this world can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but my personal favorite is the fish plate
Incredible. This place can't be beat... Especially for the price, while getting a fully loaded meal and even sometimes getting a 2nd meal because it's so filling!! Best place ever. Best people serving ever. They make you feel at home.
Great food and fast service. The mix platter and falafel gyro are delicious. They also are doing a deal on wings every Wednesday, $8.99 for their 7pc wings!
If you’re craving flavorful, juicy, and perfectly seasoned halal food, New York Chicken & Gyro is the spot! I stopped by for a quick bite and was blown away by the quality and taste. The chicken over rice was incredible—tender, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with their creamy white sauce and just-the-right-amount-of-heat red sauce. The gyro was just as delicious, packed with flavor and served fresh. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is a must-try. Hands down, one of the best halal spots around. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
I had such a great experience at New York Chicken and Gyro! The food was absolutely delicious, everything tasted fresh, seasoned perfectly, and cooked just right. The chicken and lamb was tender and the gyro was flavorful with and without the sauces. Most importantly the portions were generous for the price. What really stood out to me was the customer service. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They made me feel like a valued customer, and my order came out quickly and exactly how I asked for it. You can tell they truly care about their customers and take pride in what they do. If you're looking for amazing food and even better service, New York Chicken and Gyro is definitely worth checking out!
New York Chicken & Gyro is easily one of the best quick eats I’ve found in LA. The chicken over rice was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of white and hot sauce. The portions are generous, and everything tasted authentic and well-seasoned. Staff were friendly and fast, and the food came out hot. Great spot for a solid, satisfying meal without the wait or the high prices. Will be back for sure!
Food was absolutely delicious! I got the Mix Platter generous portion size, food was flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back.

The lamb+chicken over rice joint that's better than Halal Guys. This is the type where the chicken is red because it's been heavily marinated in delicious spices. (This is the stuff that you can find more commonly back in downtown Philadelphia, which is the good stuff!!) Make sure you get both the white sauce and red sauce! It might be a bit confusing. The place is located in a shared kitchen facility, with other restaurants, mainly for Uber/Doordash pickups. They do have some limited seating inside and in the side alley.
Came here for early dinner on a slow Wednesday after having been to the Canoga Park location, which had hit it out of the park. The reviews of this location are good, especially for a ghost kitchen, but for some reason the chicken tasted greasier and didn't complement the spice level of the rice as much. Don't get me wrong, definitely scratches the itch, just didn't feel like it had the same oomph as the Canoga Park location.

This place is ok if you are desperate for a Mediterranean style plate for a cheap price. In terms of quality however, there are much better options in this area. The chicken was smothered in sauces which had a decent spice and flavor, but the chicken itself had the texture of chicken that been prepared ahead of time and in a large batch. Same with the rice, which I imagine was sitting in a rice cooker for awhile. The shredded lettuce didn’t add anything, just a bit of green to make it look less unhealthy. If you want a cheap (emphasis on cheap) Mediterranean gyro or rice bowl, just go to Cava or Zankou chicken. This place is a “ghost kitchen”, so it’s primarily a takeout restaurant. It shares ingredients with the other 50 plus restaurants in the colony (and I think there’s way more than 50), so the quality will never be that good. As I mentioned in the header, if you are desperate for cheap Mediterranean, this place is ok. But I can’t recommend over most other Mediterranean spots. Especially since if you order from DoorDash, it will come out to around $20 anyway.

It’s part of THE COLONY, a coop of about a dozen Ghost Kitchens being operated in this one space. I circled twice before I figured that out. The Mixed Platter Combo looked great in the photo, but what I got wasn’t even close. I swapped the fries for the Falafel (which were crispy and great). It went downhill from there. The platter is much smaller than it looks in the photo, but size aside, the lamb and chicken were chopped to small bits. I’m used to Halal Guys in NYC where it’s shaved lamb and big chunks of moist chicken with saffron rice. This was like dog food, super salty, and the rice was brown. Neither the white sauce nor the hot sauce could save it. I only ate half, only to find a pool of grease at the bottom of the tray. I can’t believe I passed up all the good eats on Sawtelle for this…. And paid $28.
Not good. The chicken sandwich is literally a frozen pre-made patty, not fresh. They should be embarrassed to serve that. It also didn't come with fries like it's supposed to. The gyro mix platter wasn't much better.

The chicken is completely tasteless. You need to improve the menu because many people want to eat fries, salad, and meat together, not have to choose between salad and rice or french fries. But most importantly, learn how to cook gyros properly.
