Schwartz Bakery catered our daughter's bat-mitzvah and did a truly outstanding job. The food (sushi, ribs, poppers, salmon, sliders, etc.) and desserts (every pastry you can imagine) were phenomenally delicious, receiving high praise from our guests. The service was superb and it was an absolute pleasure to work with the Schwartz staff to plan and carry out this most special day for us.

I like the family environment and the fast service. Considering the stampede that was overwheling for breakfast & being the day before the Sabbath, the service was moving with speed & great courteousy. I especially appreciated the guy in the mustache who seemed to be helping everyone. The Oatmeal & blueberries was delicious. Thank you for the wi-fi.

This is the best bakery and deli ever. The Cholent and gefilte fish is just like my Babas. I also like to say that the cheese danish and chocolate cream cheese rogallach are amazing too.

They still make the best kosher baked goods. I love their sprinkle cookies and linzer cookies. Their happy face cookies taste exactly the same as when I was a kid. I recommend their seven layer cake as well.

Food Order: 1 dz. Kaiser Rolls $18.95 1/2 lb. Cinnamon Danish Minis (6 pcs.) $9.95 2 Blueberry Muffins $11.00 2 Chocolate Covered Danishes $11.00 ($50.90) I was attending a private screening in the area, & my 10 YO son was hangry after the movie so I checked the TooGoodToGo app to see if there's anything nearby within the hour, & Schwartz Bakery & Cafe popped with a 2-hour window pick-up. Perfect! If you haven't heard of TGTG, they're a certified B Corp social impact company that's on a mission to inspire & empower everyone to fight food waste together. They partner with bakeries, restaurants, & supermarkets to rescue good food from going to waste, with customers paying a discount (about 1/3 of the estimated value) for a "surprise" bag. The bakery smells so good upon entering... you get a blast of baking spices even though it's near end of day & they're no longer baking. I was greeted & asked if I needed help. I informed her that I have a TGTG pick-up; after checking in, she went around to assemble my surprise bag. My surprise bag was $7.67, including taxes, for an estimated value of $21.00, but in reality I received $50+ worth of goodies (Kaiser Rolls, Cinnamon Danish Minis, Blueberry Muffins, Chocolate Covered Danishes) at 85% cost savings. I'm not a chocolate fan, but their Chocolate Covered Danish could be an exception. It had a generous chocolate frosting over sweet, rich, buttery goodness. My son scarfed it down on the way back to the car, finishing it by the time I got to the door. We saw a homeless person near our car & offered him some rolls, but he declined; my son felt bad for him to be out in the cold for the holidays. When we arrived home, I made 3 mini Italian subs using the Kaiser Rolls. The roll was subtly sweet, yeasty, & soft; it held well under a filling of Italian deli meats, heirloom tomatoes, romaine lettuce, banana peppers, havarti cheese, & mayo. I'm wondering if I should toast the roll next time for a bit of crusty texture? Hmmm... I also sampled a Cinnamon Danish Mini. Soooooo yummy... sweet & spice, everything nice! And a small bite of the Blueberry Muffin, which was so moist!! Established in 1954, Schwartz Bakery is the oldest certified kosher bakery in Los Angeles, with highest standards of kashruth. The bakery is fairly large with a handful of tables by the entrance & center of the lobby area. There's only metered street parking out front with some free spots off Sherbourne Dr. & Holt Ave. If you're a hurry, there's a couple of spots meant for a short period/quick pick-up. With just under 2 hours before closing, their display case still had a lot of delicious looking cakes, cookies, pastries, etc. with the corner display highlighting markdown items on 4 shelves. Price points are on the higher side for most goodies, can't say they're worth their weight in value since I'm getting these discounted. Service is more formal than friendly, & efficient. I barely waited a min. before my bag was assembled. I took everything out to snap a pic & log this generous bag. One customer even commented how yummy the Chocolate Covered Danish looked, & we concurred with my son vigorously nodding & me suggesting that he get some too. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to this bakery, but if I'm in the neighborhood, I would definitely detour here for some yummy treats! Recommended: Kaiser Rolls, Cinnamon Danish Minis, Blueberry Muffins, Chocolate Covered Danishes, especially the danishes!

Great tuna steak at great price. The day old cookies at half price were pretty expensive...but the jam dabs were great Though not overly clean in appearance or ambiance, the food was excellent and the cooks friendly. You do not have to eat kosher yo enjoy Schwartz 's bit for our Jewish brothers and sisters..please keep kosher and follow our traditions and support kosher establishments. We we in LA for 1 1/2 days and ate in 2 other restaurants, visited Herzog winery and attended my wonderful niece' wedding Great time

The Hamantaschen dough was buttery and soft. 4 stars for that. The service, though, was disappointing. The person helping us wasn’t friendly or welcoming. There are so many other delis and cafes nearby that I can’t say I’d ever be in a rush to return.

We frequently go to the Pico/Robertson area when we visit Southern California. We typically spend one Shabbos in Palos Verdes, and my wife likes to pick up food items from places like Schwartz's Bakery. The food always has been, including this review, very good. That is not the problem. The problem is, it seems as if the proprietor doesn't seem to be happy with the retail side of his business. In my opinion, he ought to shut down the retail and focus on wholesale, unless he is willing to keep the retail clean and beautiful. Also, this seems to be one of those businesses that the father built up and the son destroyed. Great food, but unfortunately not good service. On this last order, we placed it plenty in advance. It was supposed to be ready when we arrived. It was not ready. Not only was it not ready, the response when we came in the front door was completely unsympathetic after realizing that it was not there. He said, " I'll have it ready and here in ten minutes". We came back one hour later, it wasn't there. Turns out it was delivered to the Robertson location. Question is, why didn't he wonder why it never showed up to the Pico location after the 10 minutes he said it would? So we show up and it's not there. He panics and says give me 10 more minutes, and he goes to pick it up at the Robertson location and bring it back. Bottom line, didn't care about the customer enough to think about the customer I've noticed that this business seems to have really fallen off the cliff over the past 10 years. So sad. Like the fall of Kmart and the Rise of Walmart, some of these good things come to an end. I think we'll be trying Eilat bakery from now on. I really wish it hadn't come to this. We really enjoyed Schwartz's bakery.

I've been to this location three times before 8 am and will go for their rugelach, bourekas and bagels to bring to my office. Seldom do they have much to offer in their selection, perhaps it's too early, but I don't mind considering how delicious everything is. The consistent thing I have noticed is the terrible customer service. Every time someone is rude, shows their disinterest, and lacks basic courtesy. Today was the last straw. I wish this would improve as it is my only deterrent from going back.

I was in today and deeply regret it! Had high hopes from all the rave reviews, but not only was the food awful and overpriced, the place was not clean and not strict AT ALL about Covid safety! I should have left the minute I walked in and saw customers milling about with their masks half off. Service was bad, one person came out, asked if he could help, came near and then turned around and disappeared. When we finally got the cookies everyone is writing are so amazing, they just ended up being the most middling, dry, gooey (in a bad way) lump I've ever tasted. They're going in the garbage, and I paid $23!! Just a waste of time and really unsafe. I'll be sure to get tested for Covid-19 ASAP because I regret e every second I spent in this space. Gross.

If there was an option of no stars that’s what would give it!!! Absolutely the worst possible service, I’ve ever received. The most unprofessional job on their cakes! Just because they have no competition they think they can get away with it. Super arrogant management. Don’t step your foot in there. I gave them the cake that I ordered, because it was soooo ugly. Didn’t get my money back!!! I threw the cake in the trash in their store. Wished I could post the picture. See the picture on the photos. Just posted it.

A real Jerk, Rude, Bully, Demeaning guy is lately at the pico location. A female who covered her hair pretending to be orthodox but in fact also a bully pushed for cash payment. I ordered from Uber eats, the fact that these are $6.95 is WILD. I thought it would be much bigger. The flavor was also odd, the cream was not creamy but almost a bit jelly and the pastry was not flaky as is characteristic of napoleons. Def won’t be back :(

I went pick up an order and the stuff wasn’t familiar with pareve vs dairy. When I asked for more clarity on which sweets were pareve the staff told me not to give them such a hard time. This is completely unacceptable for a kosher establishment. I have no plans of shopping here again, especially considering the plethora of kosher bakeries in the pico robertson community.

tl;dr> I called their Valley Village location for a pre-order.  They didn't tell me I was forwarded to Pico so my order was at the wrong place.  They refused to return my money and told me that I would be committing fraud by disputing the charge. Dec 12 12:45pm: I called the number on their site for the Valley Village location to pre-order Sufganiyot for 8am on Dec 14.  The recording thanked me for calling the location on Burbank Blvd.  The repo on the phone took the pre-order but never mentioned that I was talking to the Pico location. Dec 12 8:30am: My brother arrived at the Valley Village location at the Valley Village location as scheduled Sunday morning.  The employees had no idea of any order and shared they are having phone issues that may have redirected the call to a different location.  My brother picked and paid for  some new Sufganiyot.  Given the mix up, we assumed that the Valley Village location would cancel the pre-order.  However, my card was charged later in the day. Dec 12 3:40pm: I received a voicemail that the store was waiting for us to pick up the original order. Dec 12 3:45pm: My wife called back and spoke to a rude employee who suggested it was our fault for not specifying the location we were ordering from.  They promised a manager call back which never happened. Dec 16 10:50am: I sent an email following up for a refund. Dec 18 11:37am: I called the Valley Village location.  They apologized and reiterated that the mix up was not our fault.  They promised a refund but advised I needed to talk to the manager at the Pico location to get it. Dec 18 11:43am: I spoke with the Pico manager who was incredibly rude.  He repeatedly claimed that even though I called the Valley Village number and even though the recording said I called the Valley Village location that I should have known to indicate the location for the order.  He offered a credit for a future purchase but refused to issue a refund.  When I mentioned that I was going to open a dispute with my credit card, he said that I'd be committing fraud by doing that and that he has a team of people who will ensure I don't get my money back. Dec 18 11:46am: I called the Valley Village location back explaining the situation but the lady there said she couldn't do anything.

Unethical and Unprofessional - Avoid This Business! This company hides costs, charges outrageous delivery fees, and refuses to fix issues. They didn’t disclose pricing upfront, won’t provide a receipt, and ignored my complaints. Don’t waste your time or money here—go elsewhere for honest service!

Terrible service. We ordered a 9 inch cake in-person for birthday party but was given 7 inch. Didn't resolve the problem. Not going back again.

I think they can not make the cakes more dry because they just can't. Everything else its almost eatable.

The rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced. Do not go here. In a town full of amazing Jewish delis and bakeries, support your local one with good people working there.

I got this mixed up with the other Schwartz deli. This looks place has seen better days and the cashier was not nice and when I asked how long it was going to take, he said I don’t know and his tone was very annoyed. Not good service.
