Probably the best bang for your buck omekase that I’ve come across so far. 13 courses for $84 if you include the spicy miso soup (which you should, as it is far closer to a fantastic ramen broth than the conventional stuff). So about half the price of other places for similar quantity and quality, including sea urchin and Hokkaido scallop. Posting photos of all courses for others to see. Would have loved to see chutoro or otoro sashimi added if possible but not sure if that would raise the price. Would highly recommend to others
Im sorry we gonna have to gatekeep this place. Unreal $80 Omakese is great value considering how expensive sushi omakese is in LA. Don't forget to order the spicy miso soup with mushrooms. Get with the mushrooms.I know it sounds crazy, but trust me bro, it's a savory soup that you won't regret. Sushi was excellent.
As a Japanese person, it’s sometimes hard to find a good sushi restaurant in the US, but this place truly surprised me—it felt like I was back in Japan! It’s easy to understand why: they said almost everything is imported from Japan. And of course, the chef is a highly talented and experienced sushi chef!!! My husband and I really enjoyed the sushi, sashimi, and dessert. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!🥰🩷🇯🇵🍣
I’ve had a lot of sushi in LA, and this place has quickly become one of my favorites—definitely somewhere I’ll be visiting regularly. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern and authentically Japanese. We sat at the bar, where the owner and chef personally served our omakase. Finding high-quality omakase in LA that won’t break the bank is rare, but at $80 for a full course, this spot is an absolute gem. Not only is it a great deal, but you’ll leave feeling completely satisfied. I also have to mention the miso soup—easily the best I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. They offer a variety beyond the usual, including a seafood and mushroom spicy miso that was truly unforgettable. The service was outstanding, down to the smallest details—like replacing a soiled napkin without being asked. The space is both welcoming and sleek, and the food is top-notch. If you love sushi (they have great rolls, too), this place is a must-visit.
We had our sushi for 3 here tonight and by far it was the best we ever had. It also was the best restaurant on our roadtrip along the coast so far. You could really feel the passion which these guys have for sushi. Particularly in the service, where you notice their joy for serving the best sushi. And also in the outstanding freshness of the food. If you would like to have sushi in LA this is the best place to get it.
If you're looking for a sushi spot that nails everything from ambiance to flavor, this is it! The vibe is perfect—modern but cozy, with a sleek sushi counter where you can watch the chefs work their magic. The $80 chef’s choice omakase was top-notch, with a standout selection of ultra-fresh fish. Every piece felt thoughtful and expertly prepared. Get the spicy miso soup! To die for! Happy hour from 4:30–5:30pm is a must—$5 apps like crispy rice, shishito peppers, & salmon hand rolls are perfect starters.
$80 omakase was delicious! Every bite reminded me of Japan. 4:30-5:30pm is happy hour.
Tetsuya is an absolute gem for sushi lovers. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is warm and inviting, with impeccable service that makes you feel right at home. The sushi is nothing short of perfection—fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Every bite showcases top-quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship. Whether it’s the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, the perfectly balanced rolls, or the delicate nigiri, everything is executed flawlessly. This is a must-visit spot for anyone craving an exceptional sushi experience.
I love this place. They opened last Thursday. I couldn’t wait. I ate a lot of fresh Sushi and Sashimi. I will come back next week sure. You should try this place. Amazing ~~~~~~~~~~~~!
New restaurant in Studio City with really great food and service. The miso soup was really unique and absolutely delicious and all the fish was very fresh and well prepared. The staff was all very diligent and friendly. We will definitely be back!
One of the best sushi places I have ever been to! The people are so lovely, the food is so fresh. And you can tell that they love serving. The owner was actually working too! He was making sushi was the bar - so glad we got to meet him! Definitely have a recurring customer from now on :) arigato!
Might just be the best sushi on Ventura. Don’t miss the seared salmon nigiri with truffle oil and the tempura style matcha ice cream for dessert!

Another very good sushi place on Ventura Blvd.

Incredibly fresh seafood with fantastic service. I would love to gatekeep this place, but frankly Chef Tetsuya Tanabe deserves to have a full house of customers. I have been twice in the last month. Their omakase does not disappoint, and everything else on their menu is a hit!
One of the best spots in LA, absolutely love this place. The $80 omakase has to be one of the best values in Los Angeles, and this my favorite sushi spot in Studio City (maybe in all of LA). The staff are patient, kind and friendly, everything is so well done.
One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to. The service, atmosphere, quality of food, and authenticity were all phenomenal. The omakase menu was fantastic and reasonably priced. The sushi chefs and servers were all nice, professional, and authentic. A well-earned 5 stars. Can't wait to be back. Thank you!
My niece & nephew can eat their weight in sushi. I’m/they’re gonna hafta stick to their fantastic happy hour menu. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
Hard to fault this place. Such a great value. Get the omakase for $80. This is just about the best deal we have found anywhere. Fish quality and preparations are top notch. Highly recommended.
My husband and I eat sushi at least three times a month, and this was by far the best sushi we’ve had in Los Angeles. Everything was superb. My husband loved the omakase. I ordered the plain miso soup and the chef’s selection of three pieces of sushi: jack mackerel, white snapper, and toro. The toro absolutely melted my heart. We finished with the yuzu sorbet, and our friends ordered the mochi and didn’t leave a single bite on the plate. The service was flawless from start to finish. While it is slightly more expensive than other sushi spots in the area, it is absolutely worth it for a truly meaningful meal.
BETTER THAN NOBU Service, fantastic (very attentive and helpful, explaining each sushi etc.). Flavor, dank overall, some classic, some experimental. Presentation, plating is beautiful, garnished with fun things. Decor is beautiful. Intimate with soft wooden furnishings with a casual coolness afforded with textured concrete walls. Good for business lunch, date nights, friends night out. I can tell there's a certain level of trend chasing (yuzu involved more than I'd expect on sushi, but that's the American influence). They source local ingredients (sea urchin from Santa Barbara, etc.), except notably the Hokkaido scallop which was fireeee. Except for one, the omakase was delicious and very well worth the time, drive, and money. The one I didn't love was a not very fatty, lean white fish that had yuzu and ginger flavors involved. Perhaps our sushi master is cosmopolitan, but I'd consider that a contemporary approach. While I'm happy to see them experimenting with flavors popular in the States, it needs revision. But that's the 2% -- the other 98% of the experience there was great. I'd highly recommend and I'm definitely going back. I want to sit at the bar and watch them squish, shape, and sushi.
We celebrated our daughter’s birthday at Sushi Bar Tetsuya, and it was a wonderful experience. The omakase, prepared by a Japanese owner-chef, was excellent in quality and surprisingly affordable. Everything was fresh, beautifully made, and absolutely delicious. Our kids, who love sushi, were completely satisfied and happy. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, which made the celebration even more special. We will definitely be coming back!
